I find it extremely sad that you can aquire about a uhaul 1 week and then when you go to reserve a trailer the price is almost 600 more dollars that weeks before. Seriously almost 1000 for the smallest 8x4 trailer, how do they think that's OK, you make plenty of money, shouldn't matter if someone moves to your town for the price for a uhaul to be acceptable. I work at a domestic violence shelter and we help women get moved to safety, we will definitely not be using uhaul due to their ridiculous prices from a week to the next. Shameful how you feel that's OK, when there are people always using your company, and you've become greedy as he'll, and nobody can afford to get to any safety with your company. Horrible Uhaul

I had an horrible experience with U-Haul … From the time my reservation got changed to dealing with Roger the manager from winston Salem. This places takes your money move your reservation and all work together to cover each other disrespect. Roger not only did not solve my issue he didn't issue my refund as promised by previous representatives get better people who make customer satisfaction a great he is not the one for this job

I had a confirmed reservation for a 6'x8' closed trailer. When I arrived to pick it up, I was told there weren't any trailers available even though there were three sitting outside. I was told these were reserved and people were coming to pick them up. Unprofessional and not helpful. Home Depot has trailers available for the same price and have a 4/5 rating. Use them instead.

I would not recommend ANY u-haul to anyone. Worst customer service on the planet. They sent us out in a piece of junk that of course broke down in a parking lot. Made us wait 2 hours and another hour for the mechanic to fire up the starter enough for US to drive that piece of junk to another u-haul. Didn't have to courtesy to bring us one. My son-in-law told them it did not sound right and was told by u-haul "Oh it's fine, just let it run a bit." Mechanic said that van should have never left the lot. Sat around and watched as my son in law...I'm a bilateral amputee...to unload and reload the other van. By now, we are 8 hours late leaving. We should have been there at 7:00 p.m., instead we arrived at 4:00 a.m. the next day.

I'm an artist and it's how I make my living. It's the reason we rented a u-haul, so I could get to the biggest show of the year where 35k people come through. Because of u-haul I lost money for 2 workers waiting on Wednesday night = 250.00. Because of u-haul I lost money for 2 rooms of hotel that we were not there = 231.50. Because of u-haul, I lost potential sales for the first day, because we had to set up after the show ended the first day. My daily average is 1k - 2k per day = 1,000 minimum. Because of u-haul we had a miserable trip driving all night. I am diabetic, have other issues and take many meds = me vomiting and having dizzy spells the following day.

The things is, u-haul could care less. Their customer service is horrible, everyone tells you something different. My rental total 650.00+. I requested a refund and was issued 19.95. An absolute slap in the face. The marketing president (what does marketing have to do with customer service?) said she would only do 100.00, another slap in the face. Do NOT do business with this company. There are much better companies such as Budget, Avis, Enterprise, etc...

If you absolutely need a car or moving truck rental on a specific date, do not count on your reservation to be honoured by U-haul. The reservation is for their benefit only and you have absolutely no recourse if/when that vehicle is not available on the day that you plan to pick it up.

Late payment

God forbide your one day late on payment and you get locked out of your own unit. Ludicrous... ty uhaul for making me see that your policy on late payments is enough to spoil my milk to not ever wanting to rent from your company again. Sadly I've been a customer for over 25 years.

I called advising I need a truck for 30 minutes to move a king size mattress only and would take less than 30 minutes smallest truck and only willing to pay $20 because truck would be used less than 10 miles driving. Told had one and to secure with card. I asked and you're sure you have one in Norfolk and she responded let me double check. Then she said oh no we only have a $39 one. I said I don't need that. She responded we have a $20 one in wayne 35 miles away. She failed to mention what I already knew which was that I would have to pay per mile and pay for the gas for that truck to be brought to Norfolk which would be the same or more than the $39 one available in Norfolk. How silly you all are to leave those vehicles sit not making any money when you can let someone use them for half the price when they are going to be used a fraction of the time of the 24 hour, $39 rate. No business or mathematical sense what so ever!

Consumer unfriendly

Rented a truck a few weeks ago with excellent service from the clerk on Pulaski Hwy in Baltimore, MD. She took my license, made a copy and got me on my way in a few minutes. Today I tried to rent another truck, with the misfortune of getting a different clerk who insisted I had to take my own photo of the drivers license with my phone, and refused to help me when I explained I had no phone with me. She was rude and dismissive. White, thin, 50-60 yrs old. Will find another rental company from now on.

Trailer came off
February 13, 2024

So I was following a lady who rented a trailer from uhaul. It came off the hitch. I stopped and reinstalled the trailer correctly. The regional manager came by and was like oh don't worry about it we will give you this one for free. I was so missed at him. The lady didn't want to take the trailer because she had to go to west Virginia with it. Please explain why uhaul let's this happen. I asked her if they hooked it up she said yep. Come on guys do better

I had a very bad experience with uhaul and the way their people treat us customers like we're the ones taking food out their mouth. Last year I rented a big truck and they charge my card in advance over $178 the person clearly told me that that was not the final pricing and that when the final pricing was determined which it was close to $400 the $178 was going to go back into my account. I tried to talk to this people and all they could say was that I got the wrong info and that was it…,So no more U-Haul for not today not ever!

-5 stars! All review sites SHOULD HAVE a NEGATIVE STAR OPTION! This rep was ignoring me the entire time. I'd continue to wait and then ask if they were still connected. At which point she would tell me to hold while she pulled up the account number provided. I would continue to hold, at which point she sent the standard "I have not received a response in over 3 minutes, I am disconnecting the chat option." Which she never said anything after I informed her I was okay with her locating the account." After which she was completely ignoring me. Making it so obvious she just could not be bothered with assisting me since it was almost time for her to be done for the day!

Worst f___ing company. I was transferred twice incorrectly to speak to someone about the last minute change they made to my reservation, and they changed my pickup location to over one hour away, the size of the rental unit and the number of days I can rent it! Now, at 60 years old, I have to drive 2.5 hours just to get the unit, and load it by myself, drive to the new location, unload into a storage unit and drive again to drop it off, ALL IN THE SAME DAY. NEVER EVER WILL I USE THEM AGAIN!
AND if you want to leave a review they send you a link that does not work!

A living nightmare

I booked a truck in April for July. They changed my reservation the day before, so we had to change our whole planning (it took two days instead of one since they moved the reservation at 3:30 PM instead of 10 AM). Called numerous times to try and get some kind of well-deserved compensation but no one helped me. Apparently, their policy says that even if you make a reservation, it never is guaranteed (what's the point of reserving, then?). Completely ridiculous! Can't believe I paid 500$ for such a horrible service. Stay away from them.

Check your mileage yourself!

I made a one way trip about 200 miles with a U-Haul truck to help my sister move. When I turned the truck in the next day about 24 hours from pickup they told me I had driven 765 miles and were charging me an additional $626.22. I tried to explain not possible and had my GPS phone history and stepfather to prove it. Response was since I didn't have proof by picture of odometer it was all they could do. This is even after one customer service rep found wrong mileage had been input into the contract for starting mileage. Most of customer service but not all were rude and could not care less about my situation.

Rented a trailer from here and was charged more then 5 times over from what the original price was because I brought it 2.5 hours past the due time, even though I called 2 hours in advance to let them know that I had issues with my truck. I was told it will be an additional $40.99 for additional 3 hours which didn't make sense since it's the same price for 24 hours and we had it for only 21 hours in total, instead I was charged $340.98. When I called the customer service again they kept putting me on hold and transferring me until we got disconnected. I'm not normally the one to complain, but that is completely unacceptable.

BAD BUSINESS

I rented this trunk, which was dirty. I'll attach pictures. I was moving to a new state and had trouble finding people to help me, so I moved everything alone. I called and requested the time be moved back. I called again three times and left three messages to move to the return time. I called the regional scheduler and left three messages to return the dirty truck thrice. Anyway, I was billed 60 dollars. I also needed clarification on the amount of gas I was supposed to return it with, which ended up being 19%, but I filled the truck up and spent 120 dollars. So, instead of refunding me for all the gas money, you charged me an additional 60 dollars for a truck on Sunday night that no one else was waiting to rent. To me, this is a terrible business. Then, you ask for a review before you send the final invoice, which is also bad business. Anyway, I will continue posting this story and reviews from other third-party sites on your Wikipedia until 60 dollars refunds me and my gas money. I have four children under five and have almost no money. Something needs to be done about this nasty business. Oh, and you don't let people go back to change their reviews after the invoice is paid. Also bad business.JUST BE GOOD PEOPLE.

U-Haul trailer rental
April 28, 2023

I rented a trailer from U-Haul halfway into my trip. The bearings locked up on the tire and left me stranded on the side of the road called U-Haul roadside assistance would not call back. Had to keep calling for almost 4 1/2 hours had to call my own tow truck to get my vehicle and their trailer off the highway will never ever use U-Haul again worst experience ever with a rental company

U-Haul has been renting one of their trucks to drug dealers/users in our neighborhood. People are smoking meth and sleeping in this truck and we've complained multiple times. Maybe it's a new business model for them?

Unreliable company

Took 2 uboxes from my house without confirmation or without any agreement for this
4 days after and they still can't fix theirs mistakes.
No body takes responsibility.
Hundreds of useless phone calls answered by useless representative's
Very disappointed and won't do anymore business with such an unreliable company.
STAY AWAY!
