I applied for their supplemental health policy along with the RX with UnitedHealthcare. They lied to me on 2 different occasions about the supplemental plan just to get me to pay $79 a month for the RX plan. NOW my healthcare coverage from another company was cancelled because of them! And they didn't even except my application for their supplemental policy! I have NO other coverage other than Medicare until March 1st. If you want a company that cares about you, call Humana! They are very easy to work with and DO care.

Enrollment agent
January 25, 2022

Enrollment agent is Stanley Wilkes. 5 Stars on informative, patient, professional, excellent listener. What an incredible relief he is compared to two other insurance agents of different insurance companies. Only had to repeat information he asked for twice. Thats it! Explained everything! I was never put on hold. As of January 24 2022 my enrolllment begins February 1st

I received a letter from my doctor saying my annual checkup visit was denied by UHC. I was told to call UHC and provide more information. I have been passed around more times than a joint at a Grateful Dead concert. I have spent a cumulative two hours on the phone with their "customer service" and still do not have the problem resolved. I am continuously transferred, put on hold, sent back to the automated menu, hung up on, etc. I haven't even scratched the surface of the issue because I've never gotten past the stage of providing identity verification.

If you want to waste incredible amounts of time listening to hold music and robotic voice commands in the tenth circle of hell, then United Healthcare is the company for you!

Garbage garbage company
October 30, 2019

1. How is it they don't have an online portal for claim submission? Absolutely ridiculous. When's the last time you've used fax?
2. One of my mail in claims info was entered in wrong. And processed through an auto system which mishandled it. Led to 1 hr on phone.
3. Another claim wasn't even in their system after 14 days. No idea what to do about this one.
4. Their website is returning an error when I login and try to see previous claims.
5. For future claims, rep is claiming it will probably get processed incorrectly again.

One good thing: the reps were nice and helpful.

Great Benefit Emulators (See The Rainmaker novel/film). Mircromanaging my treatment plan and denying the prescribed meds because of the price alone.
Despite the expertise of my specialists, after 3 years on the right combination of meds, Great Benefit, I mean UHC, wants me to try cheaper therapies that we have already tried without success. My health is clearly not their concern, just the cost of my health.
Customer service reps: it's always a different dept that must handle some other detail, an endless wait to be transferred and an accidental disconnection during the transfer. Every time I call.

United healthcare practices discriminatory service against immigrants. My husband, who has been in permanent resident of the United States for five years and his resident card is good for another five (not to mention receiving his citizenship this year) was canceled from United healthcare with no notice, one month into a new policy. They claimed this was due to a change in his immigration status, however there was none. When asked repeatedly to provide proof of this, both the representative and subsequent supervisor have refused. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and a discriminatory action against United Healthcare. As an American Citizen, I am baffled and appalled that a corporation in this country who provides health insurance practices such blatant discrimination against immigrants in this day and age. Shameful and reprehensible.

Frequently deny needed care for patients. I am a physician. Todays denial was because in describing the inside of the patients nose I used the words "nasal cavity" and they decided that unless my report said "interior nasal cavity" the patients service was denied! Since there is no exterior nasal cavity, and a cavity, by definition is interior, this is just them trying not to pay for a service the patient needed. They are horrible.

The amount of junk mail is staggering. Almost every single day for the past year I've received junk mail for Medicare. I have called them numerous to be taken off their mailing list. I am a veteran so fully taken care of by the VA for medical, vision, and dental. One of the sales people who told me her husband and father are veterans and she wasn't aware of the program that covers veterans. She transferred me to another dept where the person was argumentative when I asked to speak to a supervisor, put me on hold for 13 minutes then disconnected the call. I called back and was transferred to AARP. Just from this experience I would not do business with them even if I needed insurance.
