I had a great experience using Uniplaces to book a place for 6 months. Very quick to find the right place - all the info is online. When I arrived the place was exactly as described. Thank you Uniplaces!
Unfortunately, I had to cancel my booking and the room was seamlessly re-let to another student I knew. Nevertheless, Uniplaces insisted on its strict cancellation policy, which meant that I lost the booking fee and the first month's rent (€700 in total) without anything in return. Very unfriendly and unresponsive customer service, out to maximise profit, unfortunately I cannot recommend. In future I can recommend everyone to use idealista.
I booked a room through Uniplaces, the room was way worse than the fotos showed. The walls were wet and after I lived there for 2 weeks there was fungus on the walls (see pictures). I directly contacted the landlord (it took him 4 days to come!). Then I said that I wanted to leave the room and he didn't gave any money back. I tried to contact Uniplaces to help me finding another room (because I've paid them 233 euros for a service). IT IS IMPOSSIBE TO GET IN CONTACT WITH THEM!
It already took me 4 weeks with a lot of emails and I also tried to do this through Facebook.
Nothing is helping. It is a worse service company, and both the company as the landlord just want to have your money!
I had a really bad experience with Uniplaces, they charged me double the amount and refused to refund me back. Don't use this platform, use airbnb or Spotahome instead.
I used UNiplaces when booking my place abroad and I am very dissatisfied and upset. I made multiple complaints because the landlady I was sharing a house with was horrible. She invaded my privacy, refused to let me use the washing machine, spoke down to me constantly and was rude in her messages. At one point she was so vile that I had to get a hotel for a few days. I also couldn't have any guests in my room although I was paying an unreasonable amount for the room. I couldn't find another place because all accomodation was booked up and all UNiplaces did was offer discount on their personal fee for my next apartment. I appreciate they give you 24 hours to report a problem- but this particular problem arrived later in my stay and as a student who had moved abroad for the first time, my mental health suffered. On top of this- the landlady decided not to give me my deposit back and there was nothing I could do although I was leaving because of her unreasonable behaviour. Perhaps they should review their policy! I will not be using again
DONT BOOK THROUGH UNIPLACES, we booked an apartment through them and had the worst experience, it honestly ruined our trip! We followed every instruction to get help from them when arriving at our apartment, NOBODY answered and it was a total scam, they kept our money AND charged us an extra month (we stayed only 30 nights and they charged us for TWO WHOLE MONTHS!) After sending them countless emails reaching for help nobody seemed to care, unfortunately we lost the money and our trip was ruined after figuring out the apartment was a scam.
Hello Monica,
Thank you for taking the time to review our service.
We are truly sorry to learn that you are not satisfied with your experience and we would like to help you, but unfortunately, we do not have your contact information available, and that limits our ability to provide the best possible support to your case and validate your feedback.
We kindly ask that you contact us by sending a request to customercare@uniplaces.com with your registration e-mail and Booking ID. We’ll be happy to provide you with assistance.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

DONT BOOK FROM Uniplaces, i rather spending a tad more money on Airbnb than this. It is such a horrible experience, they try so hard to get my to book the accomodation, through whatsapp and even calling me to get me to book and when there were issues with the landlady. They wasn't even able to assist me with and help me with the damn issue. They changed my moved in date without my acknowledgement and confirmation but merely after talking to the landlady. It has caused so so much issues and trouble with my bookings. They are NOT RESPONSIVE AT ALL. Really one of the worse experience
Dear Mae,
Thank you for reaching out to us about this matter. We are sorry to hear about this experience.
We have verified that the changes made to your booking have been requested by you in various replies that you have provided to our services.
After contacting your landlady, we made the changes previously requested and confirmed it in writing as defined in our procedures.
It is important for our users to consider that when contacting our services requesting a change of dates for an already confirmed booking, after validation with the accommodation provider, we make the requested changes. If there is any doubt about these changes, it should be communicated to us. We cannot guarantee a refund when a booking is in accordance with our accepted Terms & Conditions at the time of completing the booking.
We hope you can understand that all actions taken have been in accordance with the request made to our services.
We wish you a great stay and remain available for any clarification you may require.
Kind regards,
Your Uniplaces Team
Stayed in Rome for three months for school - place was disgusted, garbage everywhere and 2/3 toilets did not flush. Uniplaces did NOTHING. Even worse - I was scammed out of hundreds of Euros of hidden fees and my security deposit for 800 Euro was NEVER returned. Horrific customer service.
DO NOT STAY WITH THEM
Hello Haydn,
Thank you for taking the time to review our service. We are sorry to know that your experience didn’t match your expectations.
Our main goal is always to help our tenants and landlords by offering complete information, mediating in solving any special requests and in order to do this we need your request to arrive on time. In your case we can see that your check-out date was December 2021 and the first contact we received from you about the security deposit was in March 2022. Kindly understand that this limits our power to help you in case there are issues to fix in the accommodation.
We appreciate you making us aware of your negative experience and thank you for your feedback, so we can always strive to do better. Our colleagues will also check your case again and contact you with the best options.
Best wishes,
The Uniplaces Team
To avoid!
Especially students like me in a precarious financial situation.
Arriving in Rome in mid-September to do an Erasmus, all the airbnb within reasonable distance of my college were taken or too expensive for me.
I turned to Uniplaces, in panic because I had no place to sleep I booked a room for the next day (what I had not done) afraid of sleeping on the street my choice went to a room barely larger than a parking space and without a window. Unfortunately my scholarships being late I could not pay the deposit on the moment, so I write an email to the owner by offering to sign a declaration on his honor with the sincere willingness to pay, I told him at passage that I had no other housing solution for the coming night. She did not want to hear me refused to give me the first rent paid, so I found myself on the street, with no money in my pocket and looking for a place to sleep. Uniplace played the mediators and got me to pay the deposit twice, so she knew very well that I did not have any more money, they did not want to help me anymore because the owner already had was magnanimous and had graciously offered to split the payment (big thank you) she then offered to rent a double room with a boy (no morals by the way)
Pass your way Uniplaces it's secure but not for renters
Dear Camille,
Thank you for leaving your feedback regarding our service.
We are sorry that you weren't able to pay the deposit, but it's in fact something mandatory to do upon move-in.
Following your request to approach the landlady for a solution, the landlady accepted to receive the security deposit in two instalments, which we believe it was a good compromise. Although we manage to find a solution to your problem, you still weren't able to meet the rules and rental conditions.
We are sorry that you weren't able to enjoy your booking, but we cannot go around our Terms and Conditions and agree to requests like yours.
Please note that all the information regarding the rental conditions are open for consultation on the listing page, as they are for all of our offers, even before sending a booking request.
If you ever need us in the future, we are here to assist you.
Kind Regards,
The Uniplaces Team
The thing is the landlady cancelated the booking TWO WEEKS before the mobility started. They returned us the service fee but they didn't paid us any money compensation, nor even send us offers or suggestions for booking.
Dear Andrea,
We appreciate your comment and we understand the unfortunate situation that we had to report you.
At the moment of our contact with you, we informed you that you would be fully refunded and that stands for both the rent and our service fee.
Furthermore, even though we were not directly responsible for the situation, we really want to show you our support and make sure you have an accommodation confirmed. This is why we have gave you a discount on our service fee on the new booking we are assisting you with.
We will continue to give our support as we have been on the most adequate channel.
Best regards,
Customer Experience Team
We're two students who booked an apartment for five months through Uniplaces, the apartment was way worse than the photos showed. It is our second week and it's not livable. The walls are with mold and moisture on them, we have cough every night since we arrived. The landlord tried to hide it from us with a lot of air fresheners everywhere. I already had a pneumonia in my life so I am choking during the nights because of the mold! Also, after 2 days we found bedbugs in our beds and bedbug's bites on our legs (see pictures). We are trying to contact Uniplaces for four days now and it's useful. They keep trying to say that they have the situation in their hands and that they'll take care of it, but they don't do anything. They don't help us at all even if they say that they are in touch with us. All they say to us is that their 24-hours policy is now ended so they cannot do anything for us and we cannot have our money back. We already contacted the landlord and they don't answer to us anymore. We pay 1,000 euros per month for that awful apartment and we paid fees to Uniplaces for taking care of these kind of situations. We want to leave this horrible apartment to find another one and Unipaces don't want to refund us because of their 24-hours policy, but how they expect us to find bedbugs in 24 hours? Nothing is helping. It is a worse service company, and both the company as the landlord just want to have your money!
Dear Evelina,
Thank you for your feedback.
One of our Customer Experience agents has been in touch with you in the meanwhile regarding the issue presented, and we hope to help you mediate this situation to the best of our abilities.
Bear with us a little bit longer.
Kind regards,
Your Customer Support Team
#Uniplaces start-up is doing an Unfair Business Practice. Not only unfair, it is despicable. Has pulled in $3.5 million. It is not difficult if you cheat your customers with
Unilateral contract terms.
Founders Miguel Santo Amaro, Leo Lara, Ben Grech, Mariano Kostelec said: Uniplaces is creating a TRUSTED, global brand for STUDENT accommodation.
I am not a student, but a freelancer traveller and booking an accommodation for long-term through the Uniplaces in Portugal. After the reservation has been down and the money is withdrawn from my account with their service fee, /but not only tenants pay for service fees but also landlords, double is good/ I've been trying to reach them by email or phone for more than two months. They did not even answer. You choose an apartment based on photos, which you can renegotiate if you change your mind. This is not true, you will never be able to cancel.
According to the contract, if circumstances are not appropriate they will find you in 24 hours the other. This is what will never happen.
(Breach of contract! Legally disputable. Seeking third-party assistance.)
You must agree with the situation or lose your money without any answers.
Avoid this company far away in any form, either as a customer or as an employee, obviously, the business behaviour and policy is based on deception and scam. In our Startup World, this is shameful.
You know, there's a section in the jail that even the other prisoners are avoided far away.
Tip for consumers:

I never booked a property with Uniplaces and NEVER WILL DO! They advertise a property in Milan for a certain price! I BOOKED IT! BUT the transaction was not completed on my credit card! After 12 hours uniplaces rejected the proposal and said that the price was wrong! The correct price is $1000 euro higher! NO MATTER WHAT, YOU MUST HONNOR THE PRICE YOU ADVERTISE! I have photos and I can prove it!
The agency office in Valencia is poorly run, no warning of check times, was kicked out before my check out time, often times staff not friendly, the office has a weird vibe.
My experience with uniplaces is being horrible; I had problems with the booking at start... first of all you have to be very exact in the dates that you are going to use the apartment and look very well the conditions of the advertisement,(tip: print all) in my case I arrived atLisbon one day before what I booked to be able to see the floor, when I arrived the landlord had rented more people than he advertised on the page, so I told him that with so many people I did not want to stay, he said it was a problem of uniplaces, because he had been very clear detailing the conditions of the rooms, but that they had offered badly... now uniplaces is doing everything possible to not give me back the money, excuses the landlord and they said until he can not rent the room they don't return the money; uniplaces is a platform that acts as an intermediary and they should be the ones who respond to these cases, but they refuse to do anything about it. The worst thing is that this has been a week, I consulted an lawyer who told me that they have committed fraud and that I can sue, but that would take me a long time, I'm going to give them a little time to get my money back and if not I'm going to get involved in trials...
I certainly would not recommend this page, there are many other options and much cheaper
I used Uniplaces to be connected to a landlord in Rome.
Three weeks before my move in date, the landlord told me over the phone that I would not be able to move in on May 1 due to the quarantine. At this point they made it clear that our agreement was voided and offered no alternative. Because I would not be able to move into the apartment I canceled the booking on Uniplaces. After they realised this the landlord offered me a temporary room, which again is not in agreement with the deal we made. When I refused this offer they offered me a full refund through Uniplaces in an email that I included in a screenshot to Uniplaces.
I have proof of all these correspondences, and Uniplaces STILL refuses to refund me.
Another issue- this trust pilot page is very shady. Many negative reviews are hidden because they don't comply with Uniplaces guidelines? Trustpilot is not a Uniplaces company, why would these reviews need to align with Uniplaces guidelines?
You can see many detailed recent negative reviews. You can also see a lot of unverified, vague 5 star reviews
If I were you Id go look at the reviews on reddit and trip advisor. They are mostly terrible.
Hello Brooks,
We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations.
Our team has provided you the necessary help, we kindly ask you to take into consideration that our main goal is always to help our tenants and landlords by offering complete information, mediating in solving any special request and to be fair with both sides and the policies accepted always need to be applied.
You cancelled a booking agreeing with the Cancellation Policy before asking us for mediation and the landlord requested that the policy and the terms and conditions were applied, as you may understand we need to comply with this. As a good will gesture, we offered you a discount as you informed us that you wanted another accommodation.
We regret you cancelled your booking this time and we’ll keep working to offer the best accommodations and always strive to do better.
Kind Regards,
The Uniplaces Team
I received my booking confirmation but the price was different to what was quoted on the booking request!
THEY ARE CHARGING ME AN EXTRA 1400EUROS RENT!
When booking it displayed a first rental payment and then one other remaining payment due of 1400euros for period June - July.
When I received the booking confirmation it says that there are payments due for each month when It never displayed this on the booking request!
I contacted them immediately and they refused my refund request.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Dear customer,
Thank you for taking the time to review our service.
We are sorry to learn that you are not satisfied with your experience, and we would like to clarify the conditions of your booking in order to avoid any possible misunderstanding and hoping this information serves to clarify.
When checking your booking, we can see that you booked a listing with variable rent, which is informed as soon as you select the dates of your preference. For this you paid already 2.755€ for the 1st rent and you have a remaining payment of 2.805€ for the next month, which is divided in 2 payments due to the type of contract, in this case: fortnightly. For this reason our site showed you in the payment section "Remaining monthly payments" 1.400€ for each month, June and July.
We hope this is helpful and we also have our colleagues available to solve any doubt before you submit a booking request.
Because it is important for us to make sure all our customer have the most detailed information, we will also forward this review to our Quality Team and we'll strive to do better.
Kind regards,
The Uniplaces Team

Hi Jonas!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review. We are very grateful for your kind words!

They don't support you. You need to pay service fee. But this money will be rubbish. They never help you with the problems that you have with landlord or house
I was accommodated in Cinecitta at via libero Leonardi with this horrible angry landlord Mario. He robbed my deposit for cleaning bills. There was no respect for my privacy or rights as a renter. I was there for only a month and he tried to throw me out 3 times, because I was messy and later it was because he didn´t like me. I wasn´t messy. Once I just left in a hurry for a vacation and left my clothes lying on the floor. I felt very unsafe. The landlord was a unemployed slacker. A baboon who was always at home getting territorial and shouting to his phone at the balcony when I was there and had to keep the balcony open because of airconditioning. He also told me that there was a celaner for free and then after I left he charged over 120 euro´s from my deposit for cleaning bills. I haven´t had any answear from uniplaces about the robbery. They just don´t care. I´m going to the police.
I rented a room in Barcelona as of August until January. During my first 20 days in the room, bedbugs started biting me. When the landlord finally decided to fumigate, I sent her an email telling her that the other girls staying there and I were concerned about the cleaning in the apartment (we were charged an extra fee monthly for cleaning services). The landlord got angry with me, told me that I was creating problems between her and the other people staying at the apartment and that I had brought the bedbugs. She told me I had to leave! Uniplaces first told me that they weren't interested in deciding who had brought the bedbugs, but ended up defending her because they told me I had stayed at another place before going to the apartment. Landlord decided not to give me back my deposit and Uniplaces did nothing! My advice is not to rent via Uniplaces. If you have any problems, they will most likely end up defending the landlord. They dont care about the students AT ALL. The customer support guy who communicated with me told me that the landlord was giving me back 100 euros if I left on a certain date and since then no money was given to me. They havent even answered my last email. If anything goes wrong, the customer is the one who's going to have a bad time, believe me.
Awful experience, nobody answers, I lost my money.
I paid for a room and I don't have an accomodation. Now I don't have the money to pay another accomodation.
Don't trust this people.
Dear Sar,
We are sorry to know that you feel this way about Uniplaces.
We hope to have the chance to change your mind about us in a near future.
Warm wishes,
Your Uniplaces Team
Don't use this platform!
I had the worst experience with this platform! There many other options out there, don't use this platform, save yourself the trouble.
Rented this apartment with reference ******* from UNIPLACES. When you book you can't see the location until after you pay. So after paying even though it is advertised as being in Parque das Nacoes it is not, it is located in Moscavide on a street with a lot of traffic, noise and dogs barking 24/7. The furniture is not like in the pictures, the 2 bedrooms are just 1 and the second one is a room without window. There is a cockroach infestation and the owner is basically a scammer trying to get money on top of the money you pay even though all expenses were supposed to be included.
Contacted uniplaces and surprise they do not take any responsability or do refunds. I was offered a 50% discount from the booking fee on my next booking. What a joke!
So since the owner did not fix the cockroach infestation I decided to leave earlier. I gave notice 1 month prior to the owner and informed him to keep the deposit as the rent for this last month we were in. Now he is threatening to cut electricity and water and trying to force myself and my 5 year old to leave earlier than the end of the month. He wants rent for that month plus the deposit to keep as damages because we will leave earlier than the 1 year agreed.
Do not make the mistake of using this company to rent online. They offer no guarantee, they do not check the apartment or these so called owners. RUN as fast as you can!
Tip for consumers:
Run!

Renting an apartment in Lisbon
Hello Anne,
Thank you for taking the time to review our service. We are sorry to learn that your experience didn’t match your expectations. We can see that our team has provided you the necessary help, and we are sorry that you are not satisfied with the support you received.
Our main goal is always to help our tenants and landlords by offering complete information, mediating in solving any special requests and to be impartially fair to both sides, while also upholding our policies when they need to be applied. In your case, that meant complaint, was presented after the safety period, leaving us with small space for mediation due to the fact that the 1st rent payment is no longer with us, for which we offer you help to find a new accommodation with a completely free service fee. We're sorry that this resolution was not the one you expected.
Is also important for us to make sure that our listings are as much accurate as possible, and in this case we are happy to say that this property is correctly listed in our website, the pictures show how the rooms are and the map shows the exact location, we invite you to check it again: https://www.uniplaces.com/accommodation/lisbon/89517
We appreciate you making us aware of your negative experience and thank you for your feedback. We'll use it to manage the way we support our customers and strive to do better moving forward. We'll always be available if you have any additional questions or comments.
Kind regards,
The Uniplaces Team
After my booking was rejected for first time due to mistake on room price on the advertisement I was soon called and told the price was fixed and go book again. After booking I was able to go and see the apartment and I wasn't impressed I contact them to cancel and it took 2 days for them to get back. They call you with private numbers so you won't be able to call them back (what kind of company does that to customers?) Long story short I did not get any refund they took commission money and deposit money as well. The fact, I didn't move in, they took advantage to take all of the payment money (commission + deposit). I sent emails to complain only to be told the money was released to landlord, and it will take few days to arrive. After a week I went to see the landlord and he didn't receive any money, then the landlord called them, they apologise and said they will release deposit money immediately which they haven't it's been one more week! This company is fraud and scams people! Avoid!
Hello Munkenyi,
Thank you for reaching out to us about this matter. We are sorry to hear about this experience.
We have identified your case and we could verify that we mediated this case and tried to help you in the best way possible, according our procedures and Terms & Conditions.
We would also ask you to keep in mind that our lines are currently closed for inbound calls, but we are always able to reach out via phone call to our customers whenever necessary - we do not do so through private phone numbers, but through numbers which are not able to receive inbound calls in turn.
Please note that Uniplaces has not kept any amount regarding your first rent - it was transferred to your accommodation provider when you processed the cancellation of your booking, as per the cancellation policies which are open for consultation to all.
Please bear in mind that Uniplaces tries hard to ensure a positive solution in these cases, but we must always follow the cancellation policies associated with booked offers. When a customer requests a late cancellation our action is limited, although we always try to mediate the best possible without any guarantee of the desired resolution.
Thank you for your time and cooperation.

I booked a room for 5 months in Madrid and as a student at the Complutense I was supposed to be entitled of the 100% discount on the booking fees. My university website said I could have the discount only after the contract was signed. I went to the office and the secretary at the University told me they weren't working with Uniplaces anymore (but they were still advertising it on their website).
They put me in contact with Ines, who initially offered me a 25% discount coupon (that I couldn't even use because I had already booked so.?); in the end she said she couldn't do anything, since when the payment is done they are not allowed to give refunds, and instead of solving the thing between them they kept playing this blame game for more than two months, giving me no solution.
Now, this is what happened in the meanwhile: I sent to Uniplaces at least three e-mails few days before the beginning of my contract because I couldn't get in touch with my landlord and I didn't know how to check in. I received their answer 26 days after the beginning of it so I had to solve the problem on my own. Basically I paid 150 euros to have zero customer care, zero help and zero understanding because what happened with my University.
Fair enough.
Hi Eleonora,
It was a pleasure talking with you.
I'm truly sorry you had to experience this inconvenience. As you know, promocodes cannot be refunded retroactively, however taking into account your specific situation we have issued, as you know, a 75% refund of the service fee to you.
Please let us know if we can help you with anything else, we will be here for you.
Warm regards,
Andrea
Worst organization UNIpLACE, dnt book accomodation with uniplace... you will sample loose your money. I have lost 900. Uniplace is fully fraud organization. Their tie ups with all tenant are fraud...

Rent your student accommodation with Uniplaces, the safe and easy student housing platform to find and book rooms and residences for university and Erasmus students
Ben, Mariano and Miguel met at university in the UK. At the time, finding a place to live proved to be a very hard and painful task. Ben knocked door to door after finding nothing online; Mariano had to pay 12 months of rent upfront; and Miguel, having never lived in the UK before, didn't know there were better options than the one he ended up choosing.
One year after graduating, while recalling their awful renting experiences, they realised they had a business opportunity. They came up with a plan to create an online marketplace to create a better rental experience for students and landlords. Uniplaces was launched in 2013 and now, five years later, it is Europe's biggest student accommodation platform, having already booked more than 6 million nights and generated over €100 million in revenue for landlords across Europe.
Dear Roos,
We are sorry to hear that your experience in you accommodation in Madrid did not meet your expectations.
We thank you for you feedback which is very appreciated as it helps us improve the quality of the offers posted on our platform.
Nevertheless we are sorry to read about these issues only after you moved out of your room. We could have investigated and, if necessary, withhold the rent transfer to the landlord.
As you know, Uniplaces strives to make sure the photos and information you see in our listings accurately represent what you will find when you arrive in your new home. We created the 24-hour policy to protect our students and to make sure they are compensated in case something goes wrong.
Nonetheless, we do not intend to ignore your issues, that were attended by our dedicated department. We always aim to improve the experience for both Tenants and Landlords.
Thank you again for the time you took to write your review.
We're still here for you, as we've been from the moment you registered on our platform.
