VinHistory is a scam. Sends you a fake report (sample report) to your email after you pay the $1.00.
They are trying to get your credit card details. Should report them to the FBI quickly. Has anyone done that?
They are using a few entities. CARSCENTME (this is coming up on the Credit Card statment). And also BUDGET VEHICLE REPORTS MIAMI US. They tried to charge me an additional $4.95 today. How do we get these guys
How everything will go (vinhistoryusa.com):
1. You'll trust this website since it's at the top of Google search, and there's a live chat with a real person.
2. You'll be assured that the service costs $1.
3. You'll enter your card details, and $1 will be charged.
4. You'll receive the worst report imaginable. On any free car report site, you can get more information.
5. After a few minutes, $30 will be deducted from your account. Turns out, it's a monthly subscription for their report services, information you only find out after payment. Well, either I'm blind, or it's written somewhere.
6. Since you don't have an account, you can't check the subscription status or remove your payment methods. You'll ask in the chat. You'll request a refund.
7. They'll promise to refund you. They'll reply in 3 business days, then in 1-2 business days, and it will go in circles.
8. Later, you'll read only negative reviews on the internet and see this review.
9. You'll have a choice - hope that they won't charge your card again or go change your bank card. Since I've seen in reviews that others continue to be charged, and personally, they tried to deduct $1 from me again without reason, I decided to change my bank card.
Like everyone says...scammers
They keep charging AND they sell your CC info to others
Fraudulent charges appear on your CC statements!
Careful
Please report them: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/
The website says the look up is free. Then it will make you go thru the whole process and tell you that you owe a dollar. I paid the dollar because it's just a dollar. Then I was told that there were no results for my report. Immediately after, I realize that I was charged $25.00 for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I never once agreed to this, the website specifically says $1.00 per report. Then they will charge you for an entire month without your permission. 100% a scam DO NOT USE THEM
Scam. They scammed me twice. They make you think that when you buy a report for $1 if that is all you will be charged but it's a lie. They automatically sign you up for a membership that cost $29.99 and you are billed every two weeks. That's right $720 for a year. And when you call to complain and get your membership cancelled they tell you they don't have access to your membership but they will refer the issue to their team to review. Unfortunately if you buy anything from them you eventually will be charged $720 for a years membership you never purchased and you. Please don't ever buy anything from them. They may be selling your debit card number on the black Market. Again. TOTAL SCAM. THIS COMPANY IS CRIMINAL AND THE OWNERS NEED TO BE THROWN IN JAIL!
They say they have your VIN and will charge you $1. They will charge you close to 30$ and add a subscription to their service. Cancel immediately and report as a scam.
They make you believe you get a report for just a $1.00, but charge you $29.95, and they charge that every 2 weeks. Kenny has the worst customer service as well. Would not recommend!
I have CLOSED my bank account, all 3 of my cards are locked. I have no money in my account, yet this company (which I've never associated with before, nor have I used these cards for anything but Walmart & Shoppers Drug Mart) keeps attempting to take money from my account. Once this starts, all you can do is cancel your entire account with the bank & never go back to them. No matter what you do, what account you create, if they have access to your email and phone number, they will CONTINUE TO MAKE CHARGES TO YOUR ACCOUNT. This is ridiculous. Piece of sh** scammers.
I was able to receive a quick report, however, the site shows a misleading price since it says that would cost only $1.00 per report and by the of the transaction the charge you a subscription of $29.95 without even telling you. So what a surprise when you go and check your bank!
Same song--credit card charged 6 ways from Tuesday. Google, are you listening? Take this scammer company off the first page of the search.
I used this website to get a vin history of a car I was going to buy, website said $1 but I was charged $1 plus $29.95 and $4.95, then 2 days later I had over $1300 in charges for other websites and other fraudulent charges. I had to cancel my bank card and dispute the charges. Please do not use this site!
Just a scam, sends you an email of the sampel pdf car check. Tries to rob you by making many different transactions. F*ck these guys
Don't do it! It's fraud. I had to call my credit card company to report the scam. Charge you an insane amount of money for looking up one vehicle and never getting the report. Please don't do it!
This company needs to be shut down IMMEDIATELY...Not only do they pop up in a Google search as "free" but, then, they list their cost per one vehicle history report as $1 each...UNTIL, you reach the checkout page where they sneakily add a small note that the $1 initial deposit will be followed by a $29.95 bi-weekly subscription.
Per FTC's ROSCA guidelines, subscription disclosures must be "clear and conspicuous" but, more specifically, a "visual disclosure, by its size, contrast, location, the length of time it appears, and other characteristics, should stand out from any accompanying text or other visual elements so that it is easily noticed, read, and understood"...Furthermore, the FTC defines an "inadequate disclosure" as "one where the consumer sees an offer upfront, in an electronic or written advertisement or on the landing page of a website, which is materially different from the terms of the offer presented in later stages, such as later web pages, of the ordering process" - this definition is the complete OPPOSITE of how this company conducts itself.
ABSOLUTELY UNETHICAL AND DISPICABLE. Honestly, they don't even deserve the ONE star rating.
They say they will charge you $1 then claim you signed up for their ongoing reports. If so, it is very hidden somewhere in the process. So far I have four charges from two different companies. Now have the hassle of fixing it with my credit card, etc.
I submitted a complaint with the BBB (prior to my Sept. 4th review on this site). In addition, I have reported them to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). I urge you each to report them to the FTC in hopes of shutting them down. They are despicable!
I purchased a 1 time vin inspection for $1 but ended up paying another $29.95 and then $4.95. Below you'll see the screen shot.
They claim other sites charging $40 for a report are ripping you off. In the pay $1 checkout section they have a faint greyed section that says "$1 initial report $29.95 every 2 weeks" and they charge you $1 then moments later a second transaction for the $29.95. Then when you cancel they say they don't offer refunds.
I purchased the auto vin review from this site for $1
You can only view it online which is OK for $1 but you have to pay for downloading or printing.
The BIG problem is, just after I paid the $1 charge on my CC I started getting warning about rejected charges for 29.95 & 4.95
Beware of this company
