I've been pleased with the quality of digital movies I've purchased on Vudu. My only real complaint is the closed captioning, which I depend on. On many of my titles, the captioning comes and goes. On one title, it's up to a minute out of sync, a permanent condition for which there is no fix. I'm resigned to this. I delete and refresh my Vudu channel on Roky occasionally to improve its reliability, but that offers only temporary improvement. Assuming prices are the same or similar, I prefer now Apple TV Plus when buying digital content.
I rented the movie in the afternoon. I watched about half then and continued to watch after dinner. I fell asleep shortly afterward. Next day when I returned from work I tried to watch the second half but was told I would have to pay to see the other half. I will never rent from Hulu again.
The service is perfectly fine (although no significant advantage over Amazon) until something went wrong with a billing issue. Then the wheels fell off. Our bank saw a repritive change (that was legitimate) and bounced the charge. Now, if this happened at Amazon, the access to that particular purchase would be removed - they would say there was a problem with the collection of payment. But Vudu suspends the entire account without notification or even a good process. They then make it your problem to get access back.
That brings you to support - which as many point out is woefully unresponsive. If you are going to shut down someones access to something they have BOUGHT you need to be very very good at getting them back up again. They don't really seem to care - it's your problem. Hint, it's their problem.
Don't count on your. 99 first rental. Vulu will invalidate your account when you set it up, then have you reset your password, then say you don't qualify for the discount because you already had an account. After setting up my account and everything being validated, Roku refused to accept my login, and stated there was no credit card on file - even though I was looking at a screen that said it was perfect. Vulu, after 45 minutes on the phone, reset the account but said there were duplicate accounts, and didn't honor ANYTHING they represented. Fail on the user interface, fail on the online, fail on the customer service. All for $2.00. Can't get worse than this.
Pros: I love the library and search functions. Best I have seen.
Cons: I have Netflix and Amazon Prime. Both stream fine. Vudu does not. I order up a movie to watch, then try to watch it, then nothing for 5 minutes. The next day try again and it finally allows me to watch it but stops halfway through the movie and says my 24 hours is up.
Don't believe the bad reviews. Vudu works great. We often buy the Bluray with digital copy. We set up a Vudu account and we can access it from either our TV our Playstation. The movies load fast and stream at high quality.
All I was trying to do was download a digital copy of a dvd, and it made me use VUDU. So I have to go onto vudu and create a vudu account. Then I have to give them my credit card information. Then after struggling for 10 minutes trying to figure out how to watch my movie, I find out I have to download the vudu app. Then the VUDU app won't let me log in. Finally after half an hour, I'm able to download my movie. All this bull crap, just to download a simple digital movie.
The site straight up does not work. Multiple browsers such as Firefox would get caught up on the login. After that, I could never get the site to play the video I purchased. 5.99 down the drain.
Do not use this site.
If you are looking for the most clunky, expensive, and under performing website for entertainment, look no further. Shills will laud its benefits on here, to dilute the complaints. Beware that Walmart has done an about face with this pile of crap of a website. Now, you can have the worst of Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu, for twice the price. If this bodes of the powers that be in Walmart who are running the business... they will be gone in about ten years. By the way, TUBEPLUS is free... tubeplus dot com that is... (use Adblocker if you use it) and tube plus gets ALL the TV shows and most of the movies offered on VUDU... for free. FREE!
I paid for one movie and could not watch it due to buffering problems (possible on my end). I requested a credit or a cancellation of charge due to problems. I also requested that they close my account if they could not do that. I received zero response.
WARNING! They take money from single mothers and refuse to refund them! BEWARE BEWARE! Use Netflix, Hulu or any other streaming service NOT VUDU! I explained to them that my babies accidentally purchased a movie for $19.99 that wasn't viewed at any point! This happened during the quarantine caused by Covid-19. Their response? Sorry ma'am we can not issue you a refund. No compassion, no remorse! Take your services elsewhere!
It is so frustrating to sit there and watch the screen jump syringe consistently. Terrible and a lack of integrity to even take people's money!
Don't ever buy a movie with Vudu. Absolutely terrible. Terrible is an understatement. It buffers more than it plays. Save yourself the money and the trouble and don't even bother opening Vudu it is absolutely useless. Trust me please don't use vudu
Ordered 2 movies neither of them worked. My faught for buying the 2nd one without checking the first one. But it's really a let down when you spend money that you really don't have on something that doesn't work
Does not work I tried to rent x2 but it kept buffering and eventually I had to turn it off because it drove my family off the wall. It said my network was not up to speed but honestly I checked my wifi and it was up to speed
I have setup an account and linked to my walmart account... which is also linked to my walmart CC... i can't purchase a movie on vudu to save my life... walmart.com says go to vudu.com... and vudu.com says go to walmart.com... this service is obviously ripe with issues... beware!
I was watching Breakfast at Tiffany's and Vudu cut off the movie 10 minutes before the end so I couldn't finish the movie. I couldn't reach them by phone. And the movie buffers a lot so you are better off with another movie service like Amazon. It's really zero stars but that's not an option. A waste of $3 and my time since I couldn't see the whole movie.
I bought the movie ouija within this year on Vudu. My son watched again recently and Vudu charged me again for the movie. This caused an overdraft on my bank account. I called Vudu on this matter and they said they would refund my money but I would loose the movie that I already purchased in the first place. I'm afraid to watch the other movies that I already purchased.
If I could give them no stars I would! They wouldn't refund me for my 5 year old purchasing Trolls world tour for the second time because they said they told me to set up parent control but I wasn't even aware of the past interaction for that refund so they were no help at all! I believe they may have talked to my sister who was watching my daughter. She had to talk to them so I wouldn't find out my daughter bought movies or shows! I'm highly upset because the trolls movies was 20 freaking bucks and this the second time it was purchased! The worse part is she didn't even watch it! They won't help and basically said they told me to set up parent control! They definitely lost one valued customer & I will for sure let my family, friends, & anyone else who uses them or want to not to USE VUDU PERIOD!
Bought a new movie release, Argylle, but the movie does not play. I keep getting errors that the movie cannot play. My advice is to purchase movies from another provider.
Answer: I would just stay away from vudu altogether. They are the worst company I have ever interacted with. I spent a lot of money on videos with them and I cannot watch any of them because the just buffer literally every 5 seconds and then I downloaded them through vudu to go and they won't play on there either. I keep getting a message that vudu cannot authenticate my account. I e-mailed customer services 3 times and have never received a response. I have wasted about $1000. 00 on movies that I cannot watch. I have started using amazon prime video and other sites as well and have no problems whatsoever. Just stay away from vudu they are just taking your money.
Answer: I have had nothing but problems with vudu. My opinion is just stay away and use another company. They are the worst. You will waste your money.
