Zillow has a rating of 1.5 stars from 582 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Zillow most frequently mention real estate, customer service, and home value problems. Zillow ranks 1310th among Real Estate sites.
All of the real estate referrals for rentals, Vacation homes, and furnished apartments are extraordinarily expensive for what you get. In almost all cases tenants pay between six and 18% premium plus a 2 1/2% deduction for Credit card payments after the property owner pays $400 to advertise on their site. Zillow is the last of the free sites that operates just like a classified advertisement. So save yourself 10% on every vacation booking I'm getting contact with the owners directly via Zillow
We became Zillow Premier agents 5/29/24. Our first experience was a showing "no show," that was double booked with another Zillow agent, at the same property, 30 minutes prior. Agent support could not explain how this could happen. We agreed to paying $800/month for 4 leads who Zillow said would be verified pre-screened, pre-qualified leads that are ready to buy and are requesting to book appointments. This lead counted as one. With multiple calls, emails, and an escalation to supervisors, Zillow still has no explanation how this happened. They have now credited $250.00 for this one lead. In 2 months, we have had 2 bookings, both no shows. 2 calls were customers who already have agents, 2 calls were customers who requested to speak with listing agent only, 1 who pushed button to speak with for sale by owner, and none who were pre-qualified or ready to buy. In addition, we had multiple messages that we had missed a Zillow connection call, though our phones did not ring. We connected two phones to our account to ensure that we didn't miss calls and troubleshooted re-uploading app, resetting phone options, etc. and could still not answer calls once they did ring. Each of these went against our answer % rate and showed as missed or declined. When we received other calls they repeatedly failed to connect though we answered every time. We reported this multiple times through calls and emails and requested a refund. Agent support assured us that they were working to resolve and app was being updated and problem was being reported to their engineers then committed to follow up but would not return calls nor have ever provided compensation. Each failed lead was a missed opportunity to connect with a potential client which is impossible to put a price on. None of this was due to our phone system or lack of understanding how to answer. Our phone works perfectly for our other leads and clients every other day. Our phones are our business. We looked at a lot of reviews on other platforms and now realize how bad it is. We wanted to do this review to help any other agents thinking of become a premier agent. Don't waste your money it's a scam. Sent from Mail for Windows
Zillow is just another mega company with poor customer service. I tried to list my house as a FSBO and was told I had to produce the title.
I can list it with a real estate agent without producing the title. I truly wish there was a better option than Zillow.
I am a statistician and I can tell you that their algorithm produces invalid results. Anyone in my profession would view the fact that they publish such reaults as unprofessional. The fact that the results injure so many people makes the behavior unethical. (No surprise given recent reports of harrassment and discrimination.) I challenge Spencer Rascoff to change his ways; if he doesn't, I challenge those injured by him to find a Congressperson to regulate him under commerce and consumer protection laws.
My Husband and I had been searching for a home for 3 years. We found our recent purchase on Zillow, the realtor who contacted me was James Chappell, of Mission Realty in Princeton Indiana. James is a wonderful realtor. He went above and beyond to help us through the process, it had been 30 years since we purchased our first home, so we were pretty green. He was always available to answer any questions I had and was always professional and knowledgeble and was more than eager to help in any way. James is the best realtor that we have worked with and really cares about his clients. If I ever decide to make anther purchase I will use James as my realtor and will recommend to family and friends. He turned what could have been a long and painful process into a learning experince for me. Thank you James for all your hard work. Kathy Jones Princeton Indiana
Carrie Taylor a Cressy and Everett agent is very disrespectful and shows unethical behavior. When it comes to Mold in a house be careful she is dishonest and hides the truth and will fight you so you DONT get your earnest money returned when you are totally in the right even with professional proof. She does not respect a contract. I am very disgusted in many ways with a few Brokers and this agent. I will NOT recommend Cressy and Everett to no one.
Zillow grossly overrated my home by 70k when I bought it in 2008 from a bank and in rough condition. Now with over $ 50k in improvements, they have grossly undervalued its value (they diminished 1/5 of its value within the last 30 days although home sales prices are trending upward in this area.). Similar houses in my area are selling in the mid $160k range, and they priced me at $115k. When I contacted them, they provided a canned and useless response. The result is that I own one of the larger and more updated homes on my street, and Zillow has it listed as a fire sale.
Tip for consumers:
Ignore Zillow!!!!
Photos are before (with the big snowy bush ) and after.
I have had terrible problems with Zillow. One time I was unable to remove the property I had listed for rent. A property I had for rent a year ago is still listed though I tried to remove it multiple times. Now we have our home for sale and can't change the photos. There are duplicates and triplicates online. Hate this site.
Hey Folks. Ms Kate with Zillow in Green Cove Springs is absolutely AMAZING! She was very professional in showing the home I considered and declined due to location, but suggested alternatives in a manner that encouraged my pursuit further. Give That Woman Respect and Love!
I am a orofessional home stager and thought it worth listing my service but my business never shows up in the PRO listings. I continually contact them but they never fix it. Don't waste your time with a free business listing.
We have recently had the pleasure of working with Kristen Gavelek from HomeSmart as our agent in helping us find a home. The service she has provided has been tremendous. Kristen has been professional in all aspects of our process. We began our search with a used home and then made the decision to purchase a new home. Through both processes, Kristen's follow up and initiating appointments for us has been exceptional. We would highly recommend her as your realtor for finding your dream home.
Zillow provides costs for homes without taking into account the many features of a house or the neighborhood. Zillow cannot calculate the true worth of a home and people and sellers are being put at a disadvantage when setting their price. Zillow underprices the value of homes, period.
Wow, what inaccurate information. I put my home for sale up there for about 20K less than the Zillow estimate. Then a few months later my home is mistakenly listed as "not for sale" and the zillow estimate of my property dropped about $90K! To fix this I have to pay for a listing, of course. That's how Zillow makes money. Wow, so no data on this site is accurate.
Zillow's estimate for my home is less than $200,000 of my home value while you look around and compare my home with the same price Home my house looks a lot nicer. We renovated the entire house and spent around 200k. This website is so unfair and cannot be trusted!
Zillow will take your account info and send it to Realtors who bid for your phone number. Half the accounts they sell to Realtors aren't even interested in buying said home.
If that weren't bad enough they have so many outdated/nonexistent listings because the have no incentive to get rid of them. If a person clicks on it they get to sell your info to a realtor so why update it.
They are scamming both ends of the real estate market and not helping anyone find housing. Their estimates are also total crap because people are more likely to go through them if they give an unrealistic estimate
Zillow and trulia are the same company and they have listed my home neighborhood incorrectly and refuse to correct it, they say it is a mapping issue, bs, my home is for sell and they show the neighborhood as a vey undesirable area... it is seriously hurting my marketing ability I would like to contact other homeowners in same area to file a class action against them.
Zillow is mostly accurate, not always, but mostly. Sometimes, transactions and transactional information disappears completely, and it is impossible to find it, get it back or verify what happened. Sometimes, I have filed a rating for those they push and promote, and Zillow trashes any ratings that aren't 4 or 5 star ratings. Zillow is very biased and sells out. Overall, Zillow is very useful and a bit better than any of its competitors.
To alleviate stress of moving and all the process steps; definitely contact Realtor Frank Ritucci. Through Zillow, Frank is enthusiastic, informative, and works with you from start to end with your purchasing process. Thanks Frank!
It's just like any other review site. They don't like bad reviews and will find a reason not to post them. They protect the businesses, in this case the realtors, not the customer.
If you put too much detail, which is often necessary to tell the story, they will say it doesn't comply with the guidelines. When you try to pin them down and ask, they are onerous, obstinate, and won't tell you why it doesn't comply with the guidelines or what needs to be taken out. Often, upon reading the guidelines, you find the review does comply.
The rules and guidelines also aren't applied consistently. I even had one review that got posted that I went back and edited to change a timeline. The edited version was rejected.
Tip for consumers:
Don’t trust the reviews. They’re lopsided toward positive experiences.

This company has some incredibly stupid people. Every time I use it they do something to my account. They deleted my pictures the last time, this time they deactivated my account. I am so fed up with them. Last summer my rental property was worth 25,000 more than this summer and USAA has always had it at the same amount. So Zillow wants me to lower the price and they will list it I'm more places. REALLY what if it's worth more than they list it?
I placed an ad on Zillow on March 12,2011 to sell my lot. I paid $ 39.95 for the ad to run for 180 days. A few days after I checked the site. I could only find my ad if I typed in the exact address of the lot. It was not on any of the 10 pages which listed homes and lots in Sebring. I also checked 'lots/land' not listed there either. When I e-mailed Zillow I was told that my lot was contained in the map at the top of the page. A few days later I checked again and found my lot. I got busy with other things and did not check again until 4/19. Again, no ad. I e-mailed Zillow and was told someone would contact me. Not having heard from anyone, I checked the ad again today (4/21) No ad! I went into 'my account' and it showed I had no ad listed. I e-mailed Zillow and again I was told someone would get back to me. They took $ 39.95 of my money and did not provide the service they promised!
This is a real clever site. Great for Realtors. If you are a homeowner listing your property, your zillow zestimates, show your property worthless. But if it's a realtor listing with the same comparable, wham o, their property is zestimated for a lot more. I have sold many properties in the past, and have never seen a site like this. I have com parables, property tax estimates, recent sales, and property appraisals, to prove this. The site is a meat market for realtors. List at your own risk in the information age.
I would like to let buyers and sellers in the Storm Lake Iowa area Know of a Dedicated and Helpful Real Estate Agent. Joanne Peters of Century 21 has been working with me on selling my home in Early Iowa about 15 miles from Storm Lake. Not only did she show my home but actually found a family that was perfect for this home. The home is quite big and was perfect for a big family that needed the room for growing children. She took the initiative to show my home to the family and with her help, we were able to work out a contract to initially lease the home to them, and finally sell the home approximately 6 months later. With her help it worked out as planned and the family is extremely happy with their new home. Very Nice, Professional and will Look out for your best interests. I would recommend that anyone moving into the Storm Lake Iowa to look her up as your Real Estate Agent.
Many of the properties aren't even updated correctly, like those showing available are many times already SOLD, and that results in wasted time going to go see it only to find out it's not on the market! The listed price isn't even real; it's their "zestimate" you get the real price after a lot more wasted time! And the pricing doesn't even account for nice views, which raise the price or new remodels, etc. Very frustrating and a complete waste of time, time that I don't have, after working a full time job!
Tip for consumers:
Beware!! Listed prices are not real, and listings are not up to date so you may be looking at very out of date information. The details on properties may also be off.
7603 Vicar Street, New Carrollton, MD Rental Property: Attention new Rental Seekers. When reviewing this property, with interest to rent, please get clear information on the lease and the expectation of the lease information after a year. The renewal process will be your biggest focus point. I requested, after my year lease was fulfilled, about a month to month new lease and I was denied. Dont assume this rental will be month-to-month after the year lease has ended. Do your research on this property realtor Glenn.
As an appraiser and home sales, I had my property removed. I have a home worth over 250,000 all brick on acreage and they had it at 88,000.00 I had it removed. Its ridicules, you say its not an appraisal, yet you call it one, you provide comps, though not truly comparable, like an appraisal and you put a value on the property. If I did that the owner could sue me for and turn me into the state for not doing a ethical report.
I am trying to sell my house and my account has apparently been deactivated for reasons I do not know. I have called the Zillow HELP line and no one will answer the phone. It is crucial that I get back into my account to correct the phone number on my house listing, and to add more recent pictures.
