“Best of a bad bunch”

rm s.
2/12/18

All of the real estate referrals for rentals, Vacation homes, and furnished apartments are extraordinarily expensive for what you get. In almost all cases tenants pay between six and 18% premium plus a 2 1/2% deduction for Credit card payments after the property owner pays $400 to advertise on their site. Zillow is the last of the free sites that operates just like a classified advertisement. So save yourself 10% on every vacation booking I'm getting contact with the owners directly via Zillow

“Becoming a Zillow premier agent”

David C.
7/25/24

We became Zillow Premier agents 5/29/24. Our first experience was a showing "no show," that was double booked with another Zillow agent, at the same property, 30 minutes prior. Agent support could not explain how this could happen. We agreed to paying $800/month for 4 leads who Zillow said would be verified pre-screened, pre-qualified leads that are ready to buy and are requesting to book appointments. This lead counted as one. With multiple calls, emails, and an escalation to supervisors, Zillow still has no explanation how this happened. They have now credited $250.00 for this one lead. In 2 months, we have had 2 bookings, both no shows. 2 calls were customers who already have agents, 2 calls were customers who requested to speak with listing agent only, 1 who pushed button to speak with for sale by owner, and none who were pre-qualified or ready to buy. In addition, we had multiple messages that we had missed a Zillow connection call, though our phones did not ring. We connected two phones to our account to ensure that we didn't miss calls and troubleshooted re-uploading app, resetting phone options, etc. and could still not answer calls once they did ring. Each of these went against our answer % rate and showed as missed or declined. When we received other calls they repeatedly failed to connect though we answered every time. We reported this multiple times through calls and emails and requested a refund. Agent support assured us that they were working to resolve and app was being updated and problem was being reported to their engineers then committed to follow up but would not return calls nor have ever provided compensation. Each failed lead was a missed opportunity to connect with a potential client which is impossible to put a price on. None of this was due to our phone system or lack of understanding how to answer. Our phone works perfectly for our other leads and clients every other day. Our phones are our business. We looked at a lot of reviews on other platforms and now realize how bad it is. We wanted to do this review to help any other agents thinking of become a premier agent. Don't waste your money it's a scam. Sent from Mail for Windows

I don't see how homes can gain or drop thousands in days. We lost a new home loan because of this company. I would join anyone suing them..

There are lots of positive and negative feedbacks. I'd prefer to say it could be better. My experience was short and did not finish with a deal.

Zillow makes a serious error. I bought this condo 2 years ago in all cash $620,000. I still live here and never sold this home. The public record showing a sale on 3/7/14 for $370,00 is a different unit in the same building. It is my other all cash purchase of unit 201 in the same building 400 W Ocean blvd Unit 201, a 2 bedroom unit of 1070 Sqft, not Unit 2402, 1760 Sqft.
Caution: Do not believe Zillow's appraisal as it does not consider the location, view, elevation, improvement, etc, and it uses erroneous data.
Zillow must correct and make a public apology immediately as it is a defamation and depressing the property and it's neighborhood value.
Written and posted by owner on 4/18/14…

I have also reported to Zillow to correct the erroneous public record and it says the site will take 2 wks to make correction. Then they ask me to send evidence to prove it. Why can't they go back and check their record when the burden of proof and correction are on them.

I wonder Zillow deliberately made the mistake in order to generate traffic to the site. Now, you all will check the site more often to see if Zillow defames you and devalues yours and your community property values.

Or Zillow is really a giant real estate website that is full of trash and no one should care for it?

What more do you think I should do to Zillow?

As first time buyers, my fiancé and I were very fortunate to find Mala Vaish through the internet. We had initially worked with a previous realtor and then started to look elsewhere when our expectations weren't being met. Mala was a breath of fresh air! She is extremely responsive, always available, a trusted resource and a true expert in the market.
We had been looking for a home for over a year. After working with Mala for only 2 weeks, she found us the house of our dreams! The day we found our home, Mala re-arranged her schedule to help us put in an offer and skillfully guided us to wining a bidding war without going out of our budget.
Throughout the process, Mala continually sent us updates on progress along with things to be thinking about. Mala went above and beyond the call of duty; she provided excellent referrals to help us secure a Real Estate Attorney, Inspection Company and later even gave referrals on local cable/internet companies, sanitation departments etc. to ensure a successful transition into our new home.
Mala is a true trusted advisor! Being a first-time buyer, the process can be confusing, frustrating, stressful etc. but we were able to sleep easy knowing that Mala was on the case. She wouldn't let anyone take advantage of us and did a lot of hard negotiating on our behalf.
Mala Vaish is wonderful and I strongly recommend her to everyone in need of a new home. If you want best-in-class, Mala is the way to go!

I was going to sell my house to Zillow and they sent me a reasonable (although $10k lower than their own "zestimate" of worth) offer. I had an inspection and received my updated final offer. They tried to say that they wanted to take $15k off for damages that don't even exist! On of the almost 30 supposedly needed fixes is replacing our kitchen tile floors which were replaced last year and are in perfect condition! They also listed the pool pump as needing replacement and that was replaced with a brand new unit less than a month ago! They just add on anything they can think of and say that it needs to be replaced to drop your final offer and they no doubt wouldn't be doing any of that work since all that stuff was new anyway! Just a way to try to scam people out of the value of their house so they can make extra flipping it. So scummy. They say that the $25k in selling fees covers some damages and cleaning but everything was listed down to changing screens as an extra cost. Honestly livid!

The initial offer was enticing enough, we scheduled an in-home evaluation where we were told we would receive a new offer within 3 days. They sent out 3 guys, all 3 notes that our house is solid. One states he was having a hard time finding things to take pictures of. When they left, they said we would likely get a really close offer and would hear within 3 days. 15 days later, after numerous calls and emails, we received the actual offer at $18k less. The overall percentage from offer is 12.5%! The agents said this is such a great offer and we would be paying close to that anyway. That we needed to paint inside and out and replace carpet. No, it isn't needed, it is just a fluff because they can't find anything wrong with our house. Realtor fees are traditionally 3% on each side but nowadays it is 1.5% on seller side and 2-3% on buyers side. Even if you have some major things wrong with your house, they may take $2,3 maybe 5k off asking but overall they wanted $23k for concessions to paint and carpet. On top of all of these other ridiculous fees. Our house will sell in this neighborhood in a matter of a couple of weeks and should close with no problem within 2 months. This is highway robbery... On top of all things. Zillow adjusted our zestimate and lowered our value by $10k as soon as we told them no on their offer. Disgusting on how they operate!

Love Zillow, found the home that we are buying on Zillow (FSBO) and since that was such a good experience we listed our home (FSBO) on Zillow. We used the Zillow Zestimate to help determine the price and our home sold in 6 days. I couldn't be more pleased. Even though the realtors appear above the Property Owner, this did not affect our sale. I put a picture in the profile and I think that makes the Property Owner stand out. People familiar with buying FSBO will contact owners and feel comfortable buying that way.

Creating the listing was so easy. I typed everything in my word processing program and then copied and pasted into Zillow. I easily uploaded 50 photos in no time. I took my photos on my iPad and they came out excellent on the Zillow site. Also I had a question and I contacted Zillow and received an answer within an hour! I was really impressed. What I also like is that it is so easy to edit and update information. The edit feature is great and also the ability once pictures are loaded to drag them and move them thus changing the order. We saved over $15,000 dollars in commission fees. What's not to like. Would always use Zillow anytime I need to sell a home.

I was viewing homes (at 10am) on Zillow and identified one that I wanted to see. I requested a showing of the specific home - same day at 4:30pm. I received a message from Zillow, requesting a phone call, which I was unable to do until 1:00pm. The Zillow response - they would call me at 1pm to connect me with a real estate agent. I responded, is the home available to view that day at 4:30pm, as I was 2 hours away and needed to make arrangements? - the response from Zillow was they would connect me and it would be fine.

At 1pm, "Zillow called" and connected me with an agent. However, the agent was not from the same area of the specific home and was not available at 4:30pm to show the home, even if it was available. Zillow basically matched me with an agent that 1) did not live in the area 2) was not available. Either Zillow's technology is unable to determine simple parameters or their agents simply take things they are unable to support.

Results 1) I will only use Zillow to look at homes, but will not use them to connect me to agents (Zillow does not get paid). 2) I will not use the agent / agency that Zillow connected me with - as they completely wasted my time! Agents - if you can't meet at the specific time or provide the service, do not respond to a Zillow request.

Tip for consumers:
good to see things, not good service.

Products used:
just viewing

I am activitely looking for a home for the past 6 months and I use various apps in addition to using an agent to find homes. I have used Zillow dozens of times, with no luck and just frustration. When I see a home on Zillow I will find typos in the description, missing information, and the pictures don't show everything. For example, the past home showed a home with a shed but only 1/2 of the shed was in the pics. I looked for info but nothing was listed so I wasn't sure if it came with the home or if it was the neighbors home. I used the contact us form, which then started the text spamming that Zillow does over and over asking what I need. Well, that was the whole point in the form I thought. Then they said they have to talk to me. I text back and asked for more info on the home zoning and what the shed was. They responded back they must hear my voice to help me so I had to call or let them call me. I was hesitate because 2 times before when I reached out about other homes I got a Zillow rep that had no idea why I reached out, didn't have access to the form, and just wanted to forward me around to other people, and sell me on the idea of using them for loans. So I text back again and ask if they could just give me the info first and if I am interested I will call. They said they were not sure which home I was interested in and after hearing I was a real person via phone call they would forward me to an agent. I gave up. I have no idea why they use contact forms.

The negative reviews regarding the realtors on their site are censored. When you write a negative review about a realtor on there, the review is heavily scrutinized to the point of being taken down or just not even posted at all. Their community guidelines have NO policy about reviews that are restrained, truthful and negative. If they happen to hurt the realtor's feelings then so be it, maybe change your behavior so that you don't earn more negative reviews. Once a negative review is submitted, it will likely never be posted. When you contact zillow/trulia (same shady company) about it, you will get a response from Sophie Chen of Manhattan, NY. She will twist herself into knots writing grammatically-poor and vague emails defending the realtor as if Sophie was right there when the realtor called me a **** and refused to honor the original contract we had. Sophie will claim a review that has any negative slant about a realtor they subcontract or want to lure into a subcontract deal, does not deserve to have something so hurtful as a one star review, then will attempt to pick apart the review and question if it is factual. Again, playing pretend investigator and acting as though she was there when the realtor and I had met. It's funny how the positive reviews with racist language in them aren't scrutinized but negative reviews need to be investigated with a fine- toothed comb. I wonder why the negative reviews get the "special" treatment. Realtors pay for pumped up reviews and "premier" status on those two websites and when you already have a thin skin, well, it speaks for itself. Go ahead and try to warn people about a shady realtor with a violent temper. You will find yourself in the exact same situation. Let good ole Sophie Chen know how you feel and how pathetic their customer service is while they pick apart honest reviews to protect their worthless "premier status" realtors.

I recently purchased a home in Killingly Ct. The real estate agent I worked with was Racheal Gifford and I was financed with a USDA loan through Fairway morgage company, The Danielson branch manager is Suzanne Mozzerlla. Both Racheal and Suzanne along with Dawn Place went above and beyond to help us get the house that we fell in love with. I would recommend anyone looking for a home in Northeastern Ct to give Racheal a call and ask to work with Suzanne. When we finally got the approval from USDA for our loan and I thanked Suzanne for all the hard work her team put in to make sure we got our home she told me "We don't give up" and I know first hand how true those words are.
Thank you Racheal and Suzanne!

Zillow is an awful real estate for many reasons

1. They offer a Zestimate (their estimate of a property's value). In my case I received monthly emailed Zestimates for almost two years. During that time my property's value increased from $297K to $330K. Then last month the Zestimate decreased by $30K for no apparent reason. Looking at the historical value it also decreased, which does not make sense. They essentially rewrote history for no reason. The only factor that can influence the Zestimate are features of the property changing on the website, which only I the home owner can make (and I did not make any).

2. Customer service

- In response to the above issue I contacted their support group. Multiple times I tried to express my questions regarding a 10% drop overnight and a rewrite of the historical value with no supporting evidence. Each time I received the boiler plate carbon copy response on how Zestimate's are created.

- I listed my property under "Make Me Move". In doing so without my knowledge all my photos were automatically deleted. I requested to get them back only to be told that first about how Make Me Move works... completely ignoring my question. I followed up only to be told that my photos were deleted and could not be retrieved. Wtf.

After living in northern CA for over 30 years, my husband and I are planning to move back to Wisconsin, our home state. Our move is totally to be near family; it DEFINITELY NOT is because we enjoy WI's weather, humidity, bugs, snakes, etc. With us living so far away, Zillow is a good tool to use to help us find our new home. One thing I must mention is that WE ALREADY HAVE A REALTOR in WI, and we don't plan to use anyone listing a particular home. Along that line, PLEASE DO NOT PRESS THE BUTTON that says "I'm interested in this home" because you will receive many unwanted phone calls from agents! Otherwise, Zillow.com is a good tool to use to get an idea of a home you want. Zillow gives information on Facts and Features, Year Built, Square Footage, Room Sizes, Heating and Cooling (Central air is a MUST!), acreage, Taxes, price per square foot, schools, and much more. There is also a "Zestimate" that can tell you if the home is priced too high or too low. Zillow also gives "how many days" the home has been listed on Zillow, in addition to a history of the home's price increases or decreases or "taken off the market", which can help one ascertain whether a lower price might be accepted by the seller.
The negatives of Zillow are that pictures they show of the homes may be limited, and that if you don't already have a realtor, you take a chance on whoever is listing the home. Since we were already from WI, we have a realtor we know and trust.
But when you live thousands of miles from wherever you are planning to move, Zillow is a great site for you to get an idea of what is out there and how much it costs.
