When we start a new company or concept, 99designs is the only place we go for design work. We can put our concept out to hundreds of designers at once and whittle down to what we like. Many of these designers have incredibly original and inventive designs. We like being able to "tweak" designs as we narrow down, and always are more than satisfied with the end results. The timeframe is perfect for us - giving us time to make a decision while not feeling the process becomes "stale". And, customer support with 99designs, in my opinion, is TOP-NOTCH. Contacting me when needed but not pushing anything. If I have questions, I get answers quickly and professionally. Highly recommend!
My designer level has dropped, but my graphic design skills are still strong, and my communication has improved, which makes clients happy with my designs, I already have many art school certifications. I have been a talented designer for 12 years. However there are still empty slots on the project browser, and they have stopped working on limited to 15 contests. 99designs is not a good platform for them.
Exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend this platform. I found my dream design. A friend recommended and I am thankful!
I would not recommend them at all. I have used them for years and now they lock me and state all new fees and bull shi#
They were easy to work with and very fast. Would recommend them to anyone looking to work with a wonderful design team!
Hi Linda,
We are very excited to hear that you had a pleasant experience and thank you for coming to us for your design needs.
We look forward to working with you again!:)

Variety of designs.
Variety of designers
The contest should be blind by default.
Designers could be a bit more creative
Was surprised at how good the submissions were and how responsive the designer was to changes and clarifications.
Hi Steven,

Absolutely loved my design by sevenart99! They created exactly what I was looking for! Thank you! Can't wait to use it!
The support is awesome but i belive they should be more transparent.
We pay 299$ for the logo. How much of it doesnt 99design take?
Hi Mohamed,
Thank you for the feedback and glad to hear that you were able to get support for your concerns. As a global creative platform, it is our duty to not only cater to our clients but also to the designers so we make sure to do our best to be as transparent and as fair as possible to all involved. Prizes for each design contests are posted for designers to view so they know what they're getting if they win. We will make sure to work on this more and be transparent to both clients and designers.

I used a company that my interior designer was raving about. This company helped her get a great logo for her company. 99designs.com is a really fantastic online design company. They have designers all over the map that go to their website and sign up to do these "design contests" and they start to actually submit design concepts right online for the customer to actually choose from. There is a reward of money that the customer sets the amount for the winning designer. What a great idea and a really great way to get the perfect design that you really want.
I went to the website and really read up on the information that they have available for you. I was impressed with the list of products that they offer. I was in need of a really clever 2 page web design. I was having a diffuclt time finding the right person to do the job for me until I went to this site. They offer 100% money back guarantee for any reason that you are not happy with the design or designs. They also have really great packages that you can choose from too. I was impressed with the great quality that they also provide to customers. I was able to see other design contests and see the designers concepts. Amazing and so many to be able to choose from. I was sold hook, line and sinker.
I chose a perfect package that would allow me to see many designers concepts for my 2 web pages. I wanted to give a great reward to the winning designer also. My package was under $2500. 00 total. I had to give them information as to what I wanted my web pages to basically look like and then they would be able to start designing from that. They had 7 days to do the designs but in the meantime I was also able to give them feedback on the designs they were submitting to the site for me to look at so that they could do any modifications if needed. I was blown away as to how many I was able to choose from. Over a dozen designers with multiple designs! I was very excited and really happy with the outcome. They are a great place to go to and have really professional people care for your business and the pride they show. Quality work and quality designers! I will definitely come back as soon a repeat customer and I will spread the good word of this great company!
My account got automatically suspended I dont know why! I gave all my efforts to their contest then this is all I've got wtf
I saved 1000s by using them. I recommend using them instead of an expensive web designer. T
The turnaround time is quick.
This is an amazing platform with amazing opportunities for connecting designers with clients. Zehra D
There was a new boss on the scene called Ashish Desai or something like that around 2014, he came in and made a NAZI farm out od the 99designers, he placed an algorythm and threated the designers as numbers, a illuminati type of thing, now he is gone but the algorythim is still there, almost all the contests are fake or from his NAZI friends requiring logos for busineses that you would never want to show them to your child, there is a part in their agreement that contests aren't allowed if you think it would be not be appropriate for your child to see them. But Desai made that possible, only the worse of the worst type of business are there, not your favorite mom and dad coffee shop type of logos.and the government does not do anything to stop them because they need them to allow awful business that kill people and creativity, If a designer speaks it will be killed one way of another, there is no freedom of speach there NO FREEDOM AT ALL!
After being on 99designs for a couple of days, and entering contests, my profile got suspended due to not meeting their quality standards. By that time I had already won one contest and gotten a 4 out of five stars on one of my other Logo-submissions, as well as very positive feedback one a coupe of other submissions.
I get that 99designs has standards, as they should, but I really think you should get a warning before they suspend you out of the blue for a month. I was in the middle of communicating with the client from the contest I won, and since my profile was on hold, I didn't get notifications on my email. So then I had to check and log in all the time.
When I contacted support to explain this, and to get an explanation to why I was suspended, I just got a 2-sentence copy paste from the original suspension mail. And when I check their reviews here, I see that all they do is to copy paste the same generic answer to all dissatisfied previous members.
Considering that I've put a lot of effort in the work I uploaded, and that I've behaved professional and civil, it also aggravates me that I now have a red banner across my profile saying I broke the code of conduct. According to 99designs this means that I did one or more of these:
- Didn't respect the 99designs community
- Didn't respect all community members
- Copied someone else's work
- Or that I wasn't honest or competed fairly.
All of these sound horrible, and it was really embarrassing trying to explain to my client that I hadn't done anything bad to someone or copied someone's work.
And dear 99designs. If you're going to reply to this, don't do it with your pre-made answers, then you can just leave it be.
Hi Ingvild,
I understand how disappointing it is to see your account placed on hold. We certainly did not mean to demean you in any way, shape or form. Hopefully, you can see by our email correspondence that this is not a permanent hold. We only ask that you submit a portfolio because your current entries do not appear to represent our minimum quality standards.
99designs is a professional marketplace, and we are dedicated to cultivating a community of designers who are consistently creating unique, well crafted designs. To this end, each designer account is reviewed personally by a 99designs staff member. In order to remain objective, we do not judge quality on things like education, certifications, or even contest ratings but rather on the actual quality of the entries themselves. We use these basic, universal graphic design principles as our forms of measurement: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/articles/204862935-What-are-99designs-quality-standards-
During this period of absence, we encourage you to work on your designs skills. Your suspension is *not* permanent, please make note of this. You will be able to re-apply once we open the application period, so you have a chance to reinstate your account.
Best of luck - we hope to see you in the next application period. Feel free to contact our support team with any further questions: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

In working with desigI heard of the service on Tim Ferris Podcast and decided to take a shot. It was an awesome experience.
It's shocking, that's all I can say. It's ruining an industry and giving designers a bad name. Underqualified designers/computer users plagerising and copying each others work and just churning out stock images and vectors from free sites. Even tweaking these images to try and get by the copyright laws. It's a minefield. You might get a cheap logo, but god only knows what awaits down the line if you've (your designer) has infringed copyright law.
I'm a designer and heard about this site via a colleague so decided to have a look a signed up. $200 for a logo contest, 300 logo's submitted of which almost none were original work, $200 is cheap for a logo, yes. So well done if you get the dream logo, but was it done by the designer, where did the work really come from? Reverse Google your logo and see, you'll be suprised.
The designers are told add on work, or future work from winning a contest is the way to go and it's dangled in front of you, little do they know that there is a 24 month period whereby if the contest holdeer users them they have to pay 99designs a sort of finders fee, in axcess fo $1000 I beleive.
Do yourself a favour, find a graphic designer. You may pay a little more, but the entire design process will be a revalation to you. Consultation, creativity and originality cost money. Pay a little more and get a lot more from the quality of work, to satisfaction and peace of mind.
99designs is a sad sad concept that manipuilates an industry and belittles genuine creatives.
I signed up in 99designs this july 2016 coz i've read about this site is "the best site for designers". And tried to join in a logo making contest for the first time... Luckily, i've got 1-star ratings on my submitted designs... I didn't win but it encourages me to do it better and join more contest...
Then 99design emailed me for suspending my account. It states:
"You've been suspended
Your account has been suspended forever for the following reason:
Hello, Thanks for your interest in 99designs. Unfortunately the current quality of your work does not fit our site standards. As a result, we have put your account on hold. We encourage you to improve your design skills. You can find design tutorials and inspirational work here: http://99designs.com/designer-blog/category/design-tips-and-resources/ After you have spent 3 months on your designs, please send a portfolio of 4 to 5 of your new designs in vector. This is bull$&@#! Why do i need to make 4-5 portfolio from 5 new contests? Also it must be in vector file?! So i will give them my original ideas and the files for them to join in those contest,, and in the end they (99designers) will get the appreciation from the customers...
Why can't we make our portfolios based on our ideas ---and no need to join in some contests?
I'd love to design but I don' t want to waste my spare time to this "99designer-eating-designers"
I will just focus to my present job in a packaging company
Tip for consumers:
To designers: beware of this site "99designs"
To customers who wanted to pay contests for best designs: THINK FIRST AND RESEARCH... maybe there's no contests at all... No more ideas from genius designers around the world... You will just receive the ideas from the 99DESIGNERS
If you need design - don't look for a black cat in the dark room at night... To you on 99designs!
There are very few interesting projects to illustrate.
Logos are everywhere.
You give up and start making logos too. Clients can change the brief or choose something completely different from what they originally asked for. That's their right, but it's frustrating if you spent more than 5 hours on a logo for free.
If you think your design looks great, but the client gave it a bad rating, you won't be able to add it to your portfolio, as if this is not the subjective opinion of a person who does not design at all, and your work is of poor quality.
If you want to make money, you need to track orders and do something every day. Do you have time for free work? There is no guarantee that you will make money on your next order, but you might get lucky.
Yes, for poor countries one gain = monthly salary. But you don't win every competition, and you don't win all the time. Don't think that 99 designs will save you from poverty.
If you don't have a portfolio, use 99 designs. You can parse 15 designs in 28 days. Create them all and... Look for a permanent job because you now have a portfolio.
The practice is the only plus of this site. You will receive real tasks to complete them. Perhaps you will receive a nice bonus - money. But you definitely need a regular job where you can talk to a client, make edits and get guaranteed money.
A client can ignore your ideas, not go to the site, postpone the choice of the winner for a week, not answer you, close the contest ahead of time, even if you managed to discuss something and you made edits for it. He just decides to stop submits artwork and choose someone else, even though he loved your design so much. The guaranty won't help. Clients can unlock their contest at any stage, even when it's day 60. And you won't get anything as a finalist.
99 designers are a toy. If you always have extra time or designs to spare, then this is worth a try.
If you want a portfolio, you should give it a try.
But don't take anything seriously. You don't have normal customer feedback, you can't discuss anything, you can't offer sketches and discuss an idea. You just do the design with your eyes closed and it all depends on luck.
I've seen really cool guys get 1 star and ignored, so don't think professionalism will help you win enough contests.
99 designs is a demo version of a designer's simulator.
99designs is simply a place to exploit designer like hell, here is my 3 years experience with 99designs.
I am professional designer with a huge experience, I was one of the top most designer in Elance (Every professional designer know that site), after it merged with Upwork I tried 99designs as Upwork was also a scam, full with fake projects and horrible clients. So I thought to work through 99designs but unfortunately it worse than Upwork, in my 3 years I competed more than 500 contests where I was made only 5 contest, even for a very experience designer like me has the wining ratio of 1:100, it does not matter how qualify you are but you can't compete with 100 other designer, even if you come up with some innovative design and appreciated by the client you will find other will start working on your concept, they will modify your concept and eventually someone else will win the contest, it's a place where designers forget their own capability and start working on something else to win the prize, they will show you $199 prize money but trust me you will never ever will win that no matter how much you try or how talented you are, it's just like you go to purchase a new shirt from a shop and you choose only 1 shirt among 1000 others, it does not mean that other 999 shirts are not good, it just the choice of the client, so in my opinion you will have better chance of winning in forex trading( only 5% success ratio) rather than wining in 99designs, only99 designs and the clients are the winner here, for a designer it's like hell, save your time and energy, don't fall in the trap of this kind of sites where designers always exploited. Being a designer, I know how much effort and time we spend on each and every design but you will see not a single client will respect or bother to give you a feedback to your designs before they declined it even we provide it free, that's pathetic experience.
NOTHING IS FREE, so respect your profession, your dignity and moreover your time and your career.
Hi Aka,
Thank you for your review and we are sorry to hear that your experience with 99designs has not been a pleasant one. We certainly did not mean to demean you or any designers in any way, shape or form.
We value all the designers input and if you have suggestions on how to better and fairly serve the designers, you are free to contact the designer support team at: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
