When we start a new company or concept, 99designs is the only place we go for design work. We can put our concept out to hundreds of designers at once and whittle down to what we like. Many of these designers have incredibly original and inventive designs. We like being able to "tweak" designs as we narrow down, and always are more than satisfied with the end results. The timeframe is perfect for us - giving us time to make a decision while not feeling the process becomes "stale". And, customer support with 99designs, in my opinion, is TOP-NOTCH. Contacting me when needed but not pushing anything. If I have questions, I get answers quickly and professionally. Highly recommend!
My designer level has dropped, but my graphic design skills are still strong, and my communication has improved, which makes clients happy with my designs, I already have many art school certifications. I have been a talented designer for 12 years. However there are still empty slots on the project browser, and they have stopped working on limited to 15 contests. 99designs is not a good platform for them.
I joined this site and participated in a contest. Submitted a few designs and was among a few finalists selected by the client. Submitted more designs in the final round and suddenly my account was suspended due to non-standard quality of work! RED FLAG!
I was looking for a reasonable & an economical designer for my book and I found many, but the individual designers or companies were real poor in Customer service. Finally, I found 99 Designers and I found it more than my expectations. Splendid pattern, fast service, and excellent client service. I loved it.

I wanted a combined logo for enhanced Safety, Maintainability, and Readiness Through Technology. I got tremendous response and options from, literally, 4 dozen designers in 1 week. I ended up choosing two options and asking for a combination of the two from one of the designers. In less than 6 hours from choosing the winners, I had 3 top-notch designs and all the files I can ever need. 99designs used it's own technology sophistication to handle everything in a very automatic fashion, yet allowed me to discuss options privately with specific designers or give advice to all designers in the competition. I actually had a lot of fun with the process.
Tip for consumers:
Provide as much information as you can in the initial brief and keep the designers updated through messages as you see the things you like and don't like.
I decided to use 99designs after hearing about it on a tv fix up show? The designer used 99designs. I thought I would give it a try. I wasn't disappointed and obtained the results I was looking for. Artfeel was the winner of my design contest but many of the contestants were great to work with. My overall experience was fantastic.

We didn't use any of the services but was charged in full
The support team continue to promise the money will be refunded but never happens for more than a year now
I can't believe how bad the design came out
The worst part is you can't cancel the service, you will be charged in full
The process worked out great and we got the chance to see many interpretations of our brand. We had plenty to choose from and enjoyed the process. Our designer MC Crown was extremely professional and fun.

I bought an address from GoDaddy and within a day these people are texting my personal cell phone UNSOLICITED! I will follow up with GoDaddy as well but I went to their website to live chat with a service rep and she ended the chat abruptly with me... abusive tactics used by this company tell me that they can't get business on the merits of their actual product... do not use this company!

Too many IDIOT contest holder on that $#*!ing site, sometimes the contest holder is also the designer who fishing out best design and suddenly gone, if the contest is guaranteed he has a connivance designer that will be going to award the project. They will download your design and copy it secretly after contest finish.
The better the brief you provide, the better the product you receive. (you can add to this at anytime)
You can decline anything you dislike immediately. You work very closely with the designers, and their response time is excellent. Be patient, English is not necessary their first language.

Bad Form! 99designs, I also entered a few contests, one I was invited to enter by the books author, I was a finalist in two contests and was also put on hold by email before the end of a contest that I was a finalist in. The email I received even had do not reply to this message, u can't even get an answer to what happened to the last contest I was entered in, I can't even log in!

All so called designers were non-English speaking. Which is only an issue when its time to communicate with them. I couldn't understand the pile of words they put together as if they were sentences! The designers were sending me messages telling me that I need to be fair and award them as winner because the others were coping. And yes they were all copying each other. When I finally selected a winner, the others started sending me emails telling me to "f. K off". In the end I did not get a logo but i did get my company name in a very nice font:-)
The designers are great, without a doubt.
But 99 Designs operates in a way that is a little bit shady, or at best is opaque. They start off telling you that you can expect 60+ designs when you actually get 2~3. They tell you Satisfaction Guaranteed but then to iterate designs you are forced to accept them and waive your refund rights. They operate with tight and strict timelines that they don't disclose in advance. At the very end they pop on you a contract you must sign and this contract wasn't disclosed at the start. It's all a bit shady.

As a designer I tried to verify my account 4 times sending photos of me and my Russian passport. This just doesn't work. After contacting support I was asked to send again:
1) My portfolio (already sent)
2) Picture of my document (already sent)
3) Picture of my face (already sent)
4) + Picture of me with my document
Even payments systems didn't ask me this. And I absolutely don't understand why do they need this information and what are they going to do with my personal information further.

As a platform that deals daily with incoming and outgoing payments and currency changing hands across the globe, we do require identities to be verified.
In the past, 99designs did allow its users to do this anonymously, which can cause problems that result in misuse of the site. Given that many of our members are designers, it makes it easy for unscrupulous users to try and Photoshop IDs to get around our site policies! Our verification provider, Jumio, catches these - but when a document is unsupported by our system, as in this case, we have to help manually verify your account instead.
For our staff to help make sure only legitimate users are signing up, we do require a photo of you holding your ID in addition to the photo of the document - this way, we know that the ID is actually in your possession. We can have a staff member reach out to work with you so that you can get going on the site, and so that they can answer any questions!
The quality was good, but not as stellar as I had hoped for. I chose amongst the options I had because I had already committed the money to the project. There is a wide range, but some of the submissions were not as good as the existing logo I already had. I liked that the designers were open to design tweaks I had suggested. Some designers definitely showed more creativity than others and some seemed to understand my business and the goal for my business better than others. All in all, it was satisfactory and I am glad I tried it.
I've used this site several times now for both personal and business designs and it just couldn't be easier. I was so pleased in two contests I chose two designs because I liked them so much. I would highly recommend.
Couldn't be happier with my design and the process of choosing the designers to work on my project. They did exactly what I requested and did so in a timely manner. I will use 99designs again and especially my designer.

Without warning or self-defense suddenly 99design lowered my level.
Some CH gave me repeated messages wanting revisi while I can not submit or send the messages to CH.
7 years more with 99design I finally returned as a entry level. LOL

99 Designs is amazing! The quality and accuracy of their logo design was spot on. I had used other sites and had only designer and I was not able get what I was looking for. The description of the design just wasn't translating. With this company I had so many favorites it was hard to narrow it down!

To everyone who's complaining that 99 has banned their accounts, I can guarantee you that it was a righteous decision. Bad designers get removed from the platform and those who show adequate skill level, stay and eventually get promoted. I solely support myself from 99 and whoever claims they're scam or whatever is just spreading blutant lies. I'm currently fighting over my refund. I butted heads with my logo designer and decided I couldn't work with her. During my dispute I tried contacting my project manager (which I paid extra for) and she was not available for the whole thing. I decided it was just best to part ways and go a different route. I know they have a money back guarantee on their website but they will not honor it. My project manager told me I already picked a winner so the project is completed. I chose a winner but never clicked to finalize it because my designer sent me mock pictures of my logo, which looked nothing like my design I picked. That was the whole reason I would not finalize it yet they told me just because I picked the designer that it was completed which is false.

I had a horrible experience with a designer. I reported him to them and nothing was done about it. I left an honest review about my experience and the work provided and he went on google and yelp and spammed my business profile with bad reviews. I contacted 99 design to let them know and nothing was done and to top it off yelp and google won't remove the reviews. Be very careful with that site! The designer was "Arteam_design"
I avoided 99 b/c of the iffy reviews. I originally went with a friend of a friend and got result that were, well, akin to a friend of a friend.
Already out $500, I wanted to avoid another money pit, so gave it a whirl. Could not speak highly enough about the results. Got to a slow start, but ended up with a designer with moniker of pertamax, and was thrilled with the results. Flexible. Responsive. Quality.
