Mr. Holberg is very competent, professional, and an absolutely nice person. He wins. He has been my attorney for eight years. He has never lost a case while representing me. If I ever have to go back to court he will be my attorney.

Avvo has denied/rejected every Negative review i've written, citing "Contained language not appropriate for a public, professional forum". I have kept documentation regarding Avvo's claims, and screenshots, etc., and clearly they are utilizing a broad/open "claim" to reject negative reviews. Why? Because Lawyers, and those being reviewed, are their desired "customers," etc. Avvo is owned by, or at least co-operated with, Martindale-Avvo (it's right there, in the name), who ALSO is targeting attorneys as perspective clients/users, & is also another fake "review" site. I'm currently re-submitting my reviews, and taking screenshots, researching, regarding Avvo, and their false assertions of "language" which are obviously Untrue. I'd love to provide some Reddit links: 1 has comment regarding the poster's understanding that Avvo wants attorneys to pay to become subscribers, and often will remove negative reviews, to clean-up a lawyer's profile, which makes sense with their motive; one explains that Avvo is Martindale-Avvo, but I can't give links here. Do NOT rely on Avvo, or most sites, they ALL have reason, motive, and intention, to "protect" those whom they desire to have business with, make money from, or at least utilize in some way. Due to character limits, and censoring Negative Reviews at most "review" sites, I made a video regarding Evan Taylor, the attorney i'm trying to warn people about - Evan Taylor (Owensboro, KY "Attorney") My Review; Unfortunately, most sites will hide, or remove, or deny ANY Negative reviews, because it is in their best interest, and motive, to do so. My first review explained exactly what I experienced, and it was rejected, as every one has been, regardless of what language is used (see photo). So, my 2nd review, I added a section directly speaking about Avvo, & their obvious motive. That is in the screenshot. So, NOW, i'm not only reviewing Evan Taylor (attorney), also Avvo, wherever I can.
Tip for consumers:
Avvo is NOT Credible, unless you consider "credible" to mean attorneys can "subscribe" to get preferential treatment, negative reviews possibly taken down from their profile, or negative reviews "rejected" due to false claims, despite many revisions, and ensuring no violation they claim, has occurred.

Avvo "review" online...All reviews that were negative in any way are being rejected...
Nothing to do with "shipping,"...
I paid for online marketing through Avvo - it was longer term contract (which should have been a warning sign). After experiencing what seemed to be basically no new traffic, I contacted them about it. I thought they might be able to help by adjusting an algorithm of helping me get our Avvo profile set up better. I didn't get much from them aside from excuses about how we are in a specialized area. I ended up paying a large fee to cancel the contract and received no concessions (or even sincere concern) from Avvo. Terrible business decision - I definitely regret it. Would strongly recommend finding other ways to advertise.
My lawyer from avvo was inexperienced and unethical. Avvo approved my review on her in 2021, then took it down in 2023 claiming I was not detailed enough. I was very detailed about what I experienced. The lady did not know law. Avvo refuses to protect future victims of this woman by not allowing people to see what she has done.
Beware people! Avvo taking money from lawyer (lairs) and under conflict of interest they will not post your honest review! I will
Not post with them anything and leave them Close down they have also rude workers like Anna that will waste you time stay away!
Tip for consumers:
Don’t post anything on avvo waste of time there is many other great sites !
90% of the answers are sarcastic. You cannot delete your questions or account... I've been emailing them for 3+ weeks on how to delete a question... I keep getting emails saying they deleted them but they haven't! Which makes it so much worse and now it's more about the principal then the stupid question... like how hard could it be to delete a question from your own website? A question that didn't even provide me with answers and just left my feelings like I'm dumb for not knowing even though I'm not a stupid lawyer... I've never had to deal with anything even related to anything lawyer related...
I hired David King in 2015. We paid him $500 and never heard from him again. All his numbers are disconnected and his email address is no longer active. I posted the first negative review on AVVO in 2019. It was denied. I posted another in 2023, it was also denied. I only stated the facts as stated here. We were suing our homeowners insurance for bad faith. We never were able to get the resolution. We tried to warn others who may come in contact about out issues.
Worst experience of my life. She took my money and did what the child support court does for free. I can't post any reviews anywhere else cause they are all denied or removed. Please be careful! She doesn't care about her clients.
I've tried several times to share actual events documented through the court so others could beware Howard Weintraub is a very dishonest person who has taken advantage of many people. Facts would not be accepted through company looking to help some Lawyers seem like they are successful and good when in fact they make up false reviews to publish. Don't trust this company.
I asked my question seven times over two weeks. Pretty straightforward stuff. My landlord tore up our bathroom a month ago and has left it unusable. I also sent personal messages to four or five attorneys. Nothing. I get it. It's free. But if this is how things go, they should just shut it down.
I called a highly recommended lawyer from Avvo's review area. He was rude, abrupt, and didn't listen. He told me his cases were mainly slip and fall stuff and car accidents. His Avvo reviews painted him as a courtroom warrior who performs miracles with tough criminal cases, lol.
He was exactly the opposite of how the reviews described him! I had a feeling that his reviews were bought and paid for.
Every review site has him as a five star guy...not possible in the real world. Avvo is supported by lawyers and the reviews are unverified. Approach with extreme caution.
Dear Avvo, based on your bogus testimonials, my sick, elderly mother hired a lawyer to defend me that literally handed my head to the prosecution. These were charges that were easily dismissed or at the very least, reduced. I had to plead guilty to 3 felonies in order to get out of jail to continue caring for mother. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. I'd mention the lawyer's name but am sure you would not post this, also, i don't feel like getting sued for slander, although i have the facts in writing to back my claim. I can, however, tell everyone i know on facebook about your despicable practice because that is NOT slander!
I was hounded for months by Avvo sales representatives calling me urging me to consider advertising as an attorney on their platform. I finally said I'd give it a try, accepted their offer in writing and the salesman said that he'd email the order form / confirmation right over. He didn't, went on vacation for three days, and the next day he calls me up and tells me that the spot has already been sold and proceeds to offer me alternative spots in counties that are one to two hundred miles from my office. I called his manager, but he was smug and said that's just the way the ball bounces. Avvo's ball is clearly flat, and I will never speak to them again. Disgustingly shady business practices.
Tip for consumers:
CAVEAT EMPTOR!
Reviews of Attorneys are faked. They take the worst attorneys in the world and let them five-star rate themselves a hundred times. Complete fraud. The attorney I called ended up being a complete snob who won't even call me or answer basic questions. I've wasted over four months of time in my foreclosure case because of avvo and their lies. Just so everybody knows, that Edgar Hall guy in Seattle WA is not a five star attorney. But I'm sure he has a five star ego, from the ratings I see he gave himself.
Attorney marketing is a complete rip off. Their sales staff promise leads and acts very optimistic when convincing you to sign on. I have received ZERO leads since signing a six month contract that they refuse to cancel.
Avvo.com has predatory practices. They will sucker you into a contract that sounds to good to be true and then, when you try to cancel, they will let you know that you'll continue being billed. If you are an attorney looking at marketing opportunities, RUN AWAY.
Oh, an by the way, if you do advertise with them, don't expect any good clients out of it. After 3 months I didn't get once single legitimate contact.
Tip for consumers:
Double check the cancellation policies.
No matter what format I write it in they will not let me leave a review for a horrible and unethical situation I had with an attorney. My goal here was to make sure others are protected from unethical practices and Avvo seems to care less about that.
When I refused to purchase advertising from Avvo, two false anonymous reviews came up on their website. They are great at extortion. Don't be fooled, by the glowing reviews attorneys write for themselves in exchange for a continuing monthly fee to Avvo.
I am not some lawyer from the back of a bus, but an in-house lawyer without any skin in the game, so my sole purpose in asking that my personal information be removed is to deter stalking. But apparently, Avvo will only act on court order. So crossing my fingers that I don't get killed by my ex! LOL. Avvo, Martindale, and Internet Brands... you are unethical. (I can't imagine the poor souls who think that this is a way to find or legitimately rate lawyers! Just go to the lawyer's state bar site.)
Here's why Avvo rejected my review of my lawyer:
Make it clear in your review that you were a client of this attorney.
Plainly state what you did or did not like about the attorney's services.
Refrain from making personal attacks, insulting comments, or accusations.
Try to be as objective as possible.
Here was my review:
Checked I was a client box.
Said that he had poor communication skills and actually missed one court event.
Said I would not hire him again.
Said his office help was "chippy."
Avvo wants attorneys to PAY them for "advertising" and directory listings, however at the very same time, they allow anonymous reviews with no recourse. As has been proven time and time again, the vast majority of negative reviews are either from competitors or disgruntled ex-employees. It's amazing to me that attorneys continue to pay this company when they do such a complete disservice to the industry. The proper place for consumer complaints is each individual bar association. Shameful and unethical.
Mr. Holberg is very competent, professional, and an absolutely nice person. He wins. He has been my attorney for eight years. He has never lost a case while representing me. If I ever have to go back to court he will be my attorney.
My experience with the Law Offices of Amy Montes was extremely positive.
Everyone in the office is dedicated to giving their clients the highest level of legal representation. My case was handled with expertise and a caring manner. I was kept informed at all times and matters were patiently explained to me so that I had a full understanding of every step of the process. On a personal note, I found the whole staff to be wonderful. They gave me a new lease on life, I will be forever grateful to everyone there. - Mary Fregoso
Stephanie Montgomery has been wonderful as a attorney for my family. She was a friend when I needed advise and support after loosing my husband to cancer.
I have know her and worked with her over tens years. Great attorney!
Avvo allowed me to post a 2 sentence review, that said: I did not have a good experience with this attorney. The communication was poor. They cut it way back after I relyed to them, that he had me served with an EMAIL (DWL) threatening to sue me and take my assets and our home, over my review. Had he spend that much time on my personal injury case, I may not have written a bad review. Not all attorneys do a good job, nor do they even treat clients the same. That is the reality so get over it, listen to the criticism, and learn from it. Threatening clients you profited off of, by sending some "goon" to your home, and shoving an EMAIL under our kitchen door (when we were out of the country) does not scare me at all, Attorney McCoy. You forged my name on documents, used a MAGIC MARKER to ititial stuff, "I knew you would not agree too" (yup, his words exactly)... all of that effected the CIVIL RIGHTS lawsuit with a different attorney. I NEVER agreed to waive a Conn, statute, saying: I do not mind if my attorney profits off this case, more than I do. NOBODY in the world would sign that, and to think that we would, is insane. People maimed for life by a drunk driver, are not there, because we have nothing better to do. I need money for ongoing care. All I ended up with, is (2) BAD attorneys, and they both, threw me under the bus. CONNECTICUT is so CORRUPT. Liars, corruption, and threats, all because we are not kissing their behinds on avvo. Avvo, should have left it alone, because they denied the original one. They emailed me back saying he was "bluffing me", and that they "had my back with a pro bono attorney on staff". That was nice, but I never head from them ever again.
