Attorneys pay to be featured on the site and be promoted there. The site publishes bad reviews of attorneys that don't pay but helps those that do.

Does not appear to accept critical reviews, even if accurate and well worded.
It does not seem to be fair or accurate.

For attorneys and by attorneys. They will not post a negative review. They're a joke. Just a directory. They are misrepresenting themselves.

Avvo does not like to be honest about bad lawyers. They try to reject negative reviews about bad lawyers. Don't trust them.

Avvo won't let me post honest negative reviews. I would be concerned that the reviews that are visible are honest and reliable.

You can only post good reviews. You are not allowed to post bad reviews. All bad reviews on lawyers are filtered by avvo team.

I simply told my story about what happened and Avvo accused me of accusing the attorney of being unethical. I simply told what happened

Bogus. I post reviews which are rejected. They Only post good reviews. Biased website totally Bogus.

Avvo will not allow sincere reviews of bad lawyers, thus misleading the people considering to hire legal help.

If you want accurate reviews, contact the State Bar and not some website that generates income through advertising.

Don't trust Avvo reviews, i tried to post a factual review 3-times each time it was denied for flimsy excuses that had no basis or justification.

Wrote an appraisal of an attorney hired by myself in Bell County, Texas. Wrote my review on this attorney twice and it was returned twice because my appraisal of this man was NOT good [period] and I also stated the criminal process in which he handled my case. Now, prior to AVVO, if one were to look up this attorney on other internet venues, they would find a predominantly NEGATIVE ledger of BAD ratings - including several from my own sibling. After a three year period this attorney was loosing business due to Bell Countys (Texas) getting dinged by the State of Texas for a sheriffs department that was cheating on weapons training certification.

It was stated to me by AVVO that my appraisal had to be "objective". My question to AVVO is how can criminal activity done by one of their represented attorneys be written objectively? The Texas Department of Criminal Justice accepted my complaint of this attorney and is also raising a legal issue with him, the Department of the Army has accepted my complaint on this attorney. The American Civil Liberties Union has accepted my complaint on this attorney. If an attorney has criminal intent or has misrepresent client or had not worked to the best of their capacity, there is no way in Hell a good review should be expected to be written. What does AVVO do if one of their attorneys is disbarred or put in prison? Does AVVO ask that a good review still be rendered?

AVVO works by false representation and covers for lawyers with criminal intent - use ANYBODY but AVVO!

Avvo will never post truthful negative reviews of attorneys. Nope they only post positive reviews and censor negative ones. Total unrealiable site

Avvo.com is a SCAM site. I posted a very proper review of a truly horrible attorney. I followed all the guidlines and did as they demand on their site.
However, a day later, my review was rejected, falsely claiming that I did not follow guidlines.
You know what I did?
I wrote them back and specifically stated that if they refused to post my review of the attorney, then I (yes, I) would sue them for DELIBERATELY VICTIMIZING POTENTIAL CLIENTS OF THE ATTORNEY, BECAUSE BY THEM REFUSING TO POST MY REVIEW, THEY WERE MISINFORMING THE PUBLIC AND CONTRIBUTING TO POSSIBLE FUTURE VICTIMS. I TOLD THEM, IN MY EMAIL TO THEM, THAT THE PUBLIC HAS THE RIGHT TO AN INFORMED DECISION, AND BY AVVO.COM REJECTING MY REVIEW, THEY WERE CONSPIRING TO DEPRIVE THE PUBLIC OF THAT INFORMED DECISION.
The next day, they published my review. PERIOD.
All of you who've had the same experience, MUST FIGHT BACK. Do NOT just accept their rejection of your review--CALL THEIR BLUFF, EXACTLY LIKE I DID.
Also tell them about their horrible reputation and that it's becoming worse and that you'll make sure to help their reputation become worse--also tell them that if they continue to reject your review, then you'll GO ON RIPOFFREPORT.COM AND WRITE ABOUT THEM. ON RIPOFFREPORT.COM, ANYTHING YOU WRITE WILL BECOME GOSPEL ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND THEY CAN NEVER REMOVE IT.
Believe me, then they WILL publish your review.

Phyllis Norman and her staff are the absolute best. This was my first experience in needing legal representation but, not the first attorney I selected. I was involved in a serious auto accident in 2015 in Kansas City and I live in Orlando. So not only did I not know of an attorney in Orlando, I certainly did not know of one in Kansas City. I did not realize that since the accident took place in Kansas that I would have to retain an attorney from Kansas either. My first selection was a terrible experience so I reached out to family in Kansas and asked if they could recommend someone. Thank God I did because that is how I found Phyllis. Phyllis walked be through the entire mess and what a mess it was! Both Florida and Kansas are No Fault states and that was the easy part. As Phyllis and her staff walked me though the legal process they also assisted me with understanding of medical treatments that were being suggested by doctors(not all good recommendations). Phyllis was also EXTREMELY helpful with the surgeons that were not willing to see me without a LOP. I had no idea what a LOP was or why they were not willing to accept my health insurance. So she walked me through each and every step and never grew weary of my questions and confusion. Phyllis is very professional, but she is equally as personable at what she does for her clients. Due to Phyllis and her outstanding help I had a successful surgery in January. I honestly can say that without Phyllis and her staff I do not think that my outcome would be what it is or that I would have the quality of life I do each and everyday.

Ask AVVO a difficult question and they just delete it.they have zero purpose.its how/where less desirable ambulance chasers telemarket

They accept money from lawyers and in return they are falsely Labeled Superlawyers, etc on their site.

I'm not one who has ever written a review over anything in general really, however, I feel a need to shed some light on other individuals who have also caught themselves in the uneasy and life altering situation of a divorce and rather uncompromised custody battle. Feeling lost at where I should even start at regaining any sense of control over me and my daughter's life, I began my search for legal guidance. I had never had any reason to search for a lawyer and had little advice on what I should be looking for. I happen to hear a radio commercial advertising a law firm and my attention was caught when I heard jenae Randall, a lawyer who represented people getting divorced and handling custody battles. At this point I had talked to a few legal representatives, but yet to feel any comfort or compassion with what I felt was the general seriousness of my case. So I called. After meeting with janae, I felt a sense of relieve. I automatically felt comfortable when speaking to janae and I really felt like she paid attention to absolutely every detail Pertaining to my case. I had found the help I was in need of. Throughout my entire case Janae was not only my legal counsel but I felt like she was The only actual who understood what I was going through. She genuinely seemed heartfelt in every action she took for me. She stayed in constant contact with me and she gave me a sense of real control and awareness throughout the rocky trials of my custody battle. Now that everything is said and done I couldn't be any more grateful for having the legal council I had. If in the future I find myself in any legal advice in any way I will be giving her a call. I would highly recommend Miss Janae Randall to anybody who finds themselves in a situation even close to mine. I could not have been happier with the choice I made. Why are you so $#*!ty? Avvo is the $#*!test. Do not write any reviews on any one because AVVO does not lestion to what you want only what they want.

After hiring a lawyer that touted themselves as " the biggest family law practice in Forsyth County Georgia" I learned quicky that all that meant was that they generated the highest bills for their services in my pure opinion.

After receiving what in my opinion was inadequate representation, going to court unprepared and having my attorney freely agree to give my ex belongings that we discussed in advance should be sold, I was awarded only a coffee table, tool box and firearm after 20 years of marriage that dissolved due to irreconcievale differences. No abuse, drugs or adultery.

After the disasterous outcome I told my law firm of my grievances and said I would go to every avenue to let others know of the service or lack of service that I received from this firm. I was told by the Chief lawyer that they would persue every option available to sue me if I did, and only said that what happened to me was not their fault.

So I went to Avvo to find only raving reviews with one exception where the law firm in question wound up suing their client. Go figure. So I posted my complaint, which was approved by Avvo after their three day review process, only to one week later get an email, from Avvo that my post was removed. So it seems that if your a big shot lawyer and you have a hard truth posted about your firm that you don't like, Avvo will passify the lawyer in question by removing the bad review.

When reading reviews on sites such as Amazon etc., you are able to see the good, bad or indefferent reviews to make your own decision about using the product or service. But it seems that on the Avvo site if your a paying subscriber to the site you can use your legal muscle to have the review removed.

On a side note, the law firm in question never did sue me like they threatened because my post was stating only the facts of my case and apparently I posted nothing that they could sue me over, yet Avvo removed my post.

So I leave it with the Avvo site as a scam in my opinion and would use other avenues to find honest reviews of lawyers.

You come to the site with a question and get the canned answer BY ATTORNEYS no less, "you should consult with an attorney"..
