Mr. Holberg is very competent, professional, and an absolutely nice person. He wins. He has been my attorney for eight years. He has never lost a case while representing me. If I ever have to go back to court he will be my attorney.
Just abt all the lawyers on there are snooty, self rightous, smartaz know it alls who dgafa"wedaPpl". N thats the troooof bruh
Based on AVVO data - or the lack thereof, I hired what turned out to be the most flakey attorney - too sad to even explore here. Advocacy was definitely for self rather than client. Tried to leave a honest review of the bizarre and unprofessional behavior patterns without opening the door for a lawsuit - since lawyers love to sue, regardless of the veracity of a claim. AVVO helps them by refusing the review. And, the website appears to advise the attorney. I keep getting emails - none of which I open - from this attorney. They are timed with the AVVO emails. She probably thinks this is a game and that she is 'winning'. But, in fact, the loss is all hers. I only lost money, not my mind. AVVO is useless for the consumer. I would imagine other similar reviews were likely rejected - ones that would have prevented me from hiring her. But, this is the extent of time and effort I am going to expend. I tried to warn people. I have wasted enough time on this miscreant. That is sad, but true.
Avvo, as everybody else said, does not allow for negative ratings. I wrote a negative rating for a layer, factual and clear. She had another 6 (SIX) negative ratings, and only one positive. One and a half year later (yes, you read that correctly, year, not day) my review was removed because, they said, it violated their guidelines. I go to the Avvo site, and all the 6 negative reviews are gone, and I find 10 new ones, they all have 5 stars. Apparently, the lawyer asked Avvo to remove all the negative reviews. Avvo is a joke and a dishonest site that cannot be trusted and used in any way.
I used this service for marketing our law firm. Words can't express how disappointed I was in the "results", which were, in my opinion, negligible at best. I wish I would have avoided the site altogether.
Tip for consumers:
Avvo's salespeople advertised aggressively and lead us to believe that we would receive least reasonably good traffic as a result of our advertising investment. We were disappointed to have experienced no uptick in leads at all, which left us feeling like we wasted our money. We unfortunately were locked into a fairly long term contract with them, which made us just feel stupid for agreeing to such a thing. We ended up just buying out of the contract early and walking away from them.

Did you know that AVVO does not consider client reviews in the rating process? I hired a lawyer that was rated a 10.0 by AVVO. He talked a big talk but when all was said and done, I lost 50K+ in alimony. The attorney claimed my case was simple and 100% winnable. What a joke! AVVO is horribly skewed in favor of the lawyers. Next step--Bar Association. We can't let lawyers lie and cheat us out of a fair settlement.
Tip for consumers:
Visit 2-3 lawyers before you select one. Make sure they meet with you just prior to court to review the case. Not by email. Not by phone. In person meeting. Do not use Avvo to find a lawyer.
The system redirected me to another page the first time. The second time, it timed out. The third time, it said were making changes please wait while we finish tightening the screws and get a book to read while waiting. I already have trust issues. Avvo's blatant disregard for facilitating those who want to share the truth about an attorney who hung a client out to dry is not good business.
Avvo rates lawyers based on if they pay for premium services. They say they don't but lawyers who don't pay have significantly lower scores than those who pay. They are also given bogus reasons why their scores are so low, like where they went to college 25 years ago. Bottom line, choose your lawyer based on something other than AVVO.COM
I strongly recommend attorney Adam Graves for anyone who needs a legal help. He is highly compassionate, helpful and attentive to my legal information needs. He has been very quick to respond to my inquiries and provided advice and counsel. My entire experience with Mr. Adam Graves and his paralegal (Tanya) has been very pleasant. Everything has been done in a timely manner and very thorough. Many attorneys do not respond or keep regular business hours. Mr. Adam Graves has been responsive over the weekends and sometimes even late at night. In short, I have never seen an attorney so hard, efficient, and friendly.
I wrote 2 times a review of a lawyer who I paid and never did anything to resolve the issue. Avvo deleted all my reviews. Actually that lawyer had to refund the money through FL. Bar. But Avvo do not want to accept a negative review about lawyers!
After writing a pre estate review of a lawyer, that was glowing, it was posted within two days. After she bungled every task of my estate, I tried to get the glowing review removed. My attempt was deleted. I then attempted to write a negative review, as soon as I submitted it, the system said, sorry, we are down right now would you like to read some of our glowing reviews? I waited a half hour, it never put it through. They will not post a negative review, good luck finding any of value. This is a closed system, if you register good luck deleting your account. This attorney destroyed over $50,000 in mistakes, omissions and misfilings. Well, expecting ethics from attorneys, don't count on it! My stupid pre estate review is still there, I cannot take it down. Trust me, it is a billboard for attorneys, a total fraud. Save Your Time.
I submitted a free listing on AVVO. Much to my surprise, I had a negative review from someone claiming I don't have an office. What? The facts in the review don't make sense and are fictitious. Apparently, you can't believe the positive or negative reviews.
Dear Lawyers, DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME! The premise of awarding a lawyer a sub par rating and the only way to a 10 is to pay them. Total scam. They will blow up the phone with rude sales clowns. Be smart! Mark their email in spam and block their calls. If you don't, you'll wish you did.
This organization issues mediocre ratings to attorneys by default, then tries to get them to "claim" their profile in order to increase their ranking. But their "default" ratings are issued without any input whatsoever from the attorney's peers or former or current clients. They just get lists of attorneys from public sources and give the ones they know nothing about mediocre rankings instead of NO ranking. When asked if they would just delete the arbitrary ranking, they instead tell you that your ranking would increase if you'd join them and claim your profile. NO WAY would I succumb to the blackmail attempts.
Avvo began listing me on the site after I stopped practicing law to move into diffferent work. Now its call center regularly cold-calls my staff and bugs them to "claim my profile." The "profile" in question appears to be composed of automated public record searches and guesswork, and is largely wrong. Most notably, Avvo is advertising to the world that I am still a practicing attorney, and that I am a specialist in an area that does not accurately reflect what I did while in practice. There is no option for me to de-list the inaccurate information without "claiming" the profile by submitting additional information to Avvo and agreeing to its usage terms. I informed one of Avvo's cold-callers that I no longer practice, but the company has taken no action to correct its mistakes.
Tip for consumers:
Don't. Your local county or borough bar association probably has a referral service consisting of lawyers who are actually taking clients and who practice in the specialties they advertise. There may be other reputable services in your part of the country. With referral services, as with professionals themselves, you should vet for reliability before bestowing your trust.
Dear Daniel A. DeLiberty Esq., thank you for your excellent representation in my credit card case. You relieved the stress of the constant battering of calls and mail sent to me by a company to pay on an old debt that was not owned. I did not have to attend one court hearing and my case was resolved by your Law Firm. Another good thing about your Law Firm, your cost was reasonable. Thanks again, I well refer your Firm to others and I will use you in the future if needed. Keep up the good work. T. Harris
Was truly a blessing for me after countless attempts from other attorneys who should have amateur stamp next to their names, because they could not get done what attorney Russell Cate got done for me. I was told I could never gain my full rights back, other attorneys have told me. Russell Cate high level of intelligence of the law. By his name is stamp pro attorney Russell Cate. Very knowledgeable of the law which makes him Supreme, I use three lawyers in the past and all of them failed my request, about 10 or more simply told me to live with my conviction. To make a long story short attorney Russell Cate got my felony reduced to a misdemeanor then expunged. You want to win or at least deal with an attorney that will fight to the end of the road for you. I wish I could have met him 15 years ago. I'm very happy and always in debt to Mr Russell Cate truly a success story. Attorney Russell Cate *******016
You only get one free question. Sometimes you don't even get a response from lawyers and them when you try to contact the website, they take a long time to respond.
Some of the lawyers that reply are really rude based on posts that I've read. Do they not realize they can lose clientele that way? They don't seem to be very smart. Some of them when they reply tell you to seek legal counsel so as not to answer the question posted.
They really don't give good advice.
Do not sign onto Avvo. Once you sign on, no matter how many times you request they not contact you or remove any contact information they have on you, they will not. If you want to receive calls from a salesman for the rest of your life, by all means, do it. Most people are too busy to mess with such nonsense.
You can not make a critical complainant on a lawyer because they are all a gaggle of criminals that stick together with only one loyalty and that is to the Bar association. Daniel S. Gerow told me the Law written by criminal lawyers was to protect women and children. Daniel S. Gerow St Clair Shores, MI ******* said No equal protection under the law and no 14 amendment and the Constitution didn't mater.
Avvo had continually rejected 9 of my attempts to review a corrupt attorney that cheated me and my company out of 10s of thousands of dollars, was found guilty of 110 counts by the State of Illinois Sect'y of State Securities Department and was then indicted by a grand jury for criminal offences of wire fraud.
In my opinion, Avvo is a bogus operation and a gross dis-service to those seeking responsible insight into the qualities of a potential legal professional hire.
To place trust in Avvo is to do so at your own peril. Read through any number of the other reviews and you will note the pattern of irresponsible vetting.
OK... now on to RipoffReport and ScamBook for more of the same.

Not only is Avvo an ineffective form of advertising because of the sleazy Avvo trademark and the questionable rating practices; Avvo actually hates lawyers. So they'll take your money with one hand, and with the other hand fight with anyone who is critical of their marketing practices. Avvo will aggressively attack (and then publish the communications with) potential client-lawyers who don't appreciate their sleazy marketing practices. There are ethical advertisers for lawyers, but this isn't one of them.
In 2015, I received a letter stating I was having legal action taken against my nursing license. I went to Chicago and was blessed to meet Ms. Lillian Walanka. She took my case and determined that no offense had been done and cleared my nursing license. She later followed up when the state of Illinois made an error in record keeping and notified me of such. I just received an email stating my license is clear. The latter was even done pro bono. Ms. Walanka was there during a very difficult time in my life and supported me the whole way. She was not only my lawyer, but I consider her a friend. Blessings to her and her team for everything they have accomplished.
Once you get on there is jo way to get off avvo. They dont tell you this up front. They encourage people to increase their rating by having friends and colleagues do a search for you. Obviously this allows them to increase their ad revenues. STAY CLEAR,
Now it is nothing but attorneys who have too much time in their hands just hanging out and telling people how much trouble they are in and they shouldn't be talking about their personal business ect ect. Well hello what do you think avvo.com is? It is a website where people can get a legal advice from actual lawyers and you are telling people not to post legal problems/questions? At avvo you no longer get legal advice, it is a playground for pretentious idiots with law degrees.
I posted a review of a lawyer merely stating that he didn't answer my phone calls and no showed my hearing and warned that the attorney wasn't dependable. Avvo sent me an email saying that my review didn't meet their posting guidelines. Yelp is a much better and far more impartial compared to Avvo, which doesn't allow any critiques of attorneys.
I wrote a negative review about a lawyer that I hired. The review was very civil, non-tonal, and too the point. I provided my information to Avvo so that they could verify that I did indeed hire the attorney or gather any other information as to what is needed to post a negative review. Avvo never got back in touch with me nor did they post my review.
Avvo has ratings, reviews, and disciplinary records for lawyers in every state. Get free legal advice, find the right lawyer, and make informed legal decisions.
