Mr. Holberg is very competent, professional, and an absolutely nice person. He wins. He has been my attorney for eight years. He has never lost a case while representing me. If I ever have to go back to court he will be my attorney.

Hired the worst attorney I've ever met based on glowing Avvo reviews. Truth is, after I had to fire Denver defense attorney Michael Root for ineffective assistance of counsel, I tried to post a factual review based on the record of the Court, his written correspondences to me, the evidence and the law. NOPE. Not gonna happen on avvo. They refuse all negative reviews. I got screwed because of Avvo. Stay Away! Don't let their fictitious portrayals of every lawyer, no matter how bad, ruin your life.

Tip for consumers:
I don't know what to do, other than word of mouth, but stay away form Avvo!

Post a legal question, was my first time, apparently i did it wrong, so instead of being polite and correcting me, the lawyers choose to make personal attacks about my character, needless to say i will be spending my money elsewhere.

This business wants you to water down the truth about an Attorney. No matter how many times you change it, you will keep getting an auto email stating your comment is not approved. I asked one of the individuals working in AVVO chat to give me an example of a negative complaint so I could use it as a basis. They never did. I modified my comment over six times with continuous kick back. The bottom line do not waste your time or energy. I would just go to the State Bar in your area to complain or YELP. That is what I did.

All of the attorneys I got from AVVO made stupid negligent mistakes and refused to do what i asked, violating the most basic rules of conduct for any attorney. AVVO gave one of them a 10 when she was completely inexperienced and cost me a fortune. Many of them are corrupt and paid off so the site is probably manipulated with pay offs as well. Whether you have a little to lose or a lot, do not trust this site. When you write a negative review, they will not post it and if it is posted, it will soon be removed.

While I absolutely agree that the sites "ranking" of attorneys is completely bogus (read their criteria for establishing these rankings), I think it's important to note that attorneys can't just dole out legal advice based on brief fact patterns, they could potentially have ethics issues with the State Bar for doing so. They have to tell you to retain your own counsel to review your entire situation to make sure that your legal situation is handled properly. Not to mention that it is impossible to just give a "this is how you do it" answer as no two situations are the same or should be handled the same.

Many excellent attorneys do not pay for "Avvo Pro", so do not have "10" ratings because of this. Please make sure you call several attorneys and speak to them directly before deciding who to hire (yes, call the non-10 rated attorneys too!). Basing your hiring decision on a ridiculous paid-for scoring system is ridiculous.

Avvo did not allow me to review Debra Bland Koenig for absolutely no reason. There are other reviews for lawyers that are similar to my but mine was denied. Do not hire Debra Bland Koenig. She will take your money then will not communicate with you in person, via email or telephone. She is rude as is her staff. I paid her $2500 for grandparents rights and she has yet to obtain them and has allowed unethical behavior in her practice. I am a retired and still hardworking American who deserves to get what I paid for per our contract and that hasn't happened.

Aviv does not let you post any feelings negative remarks when lawyers write legal documents and submit them to the court for their professional opinion.
They only support the lawyers and protect the lawyers there are no real reviews on avvo except for the ones they manufacture. My review of amy petersen has been consistently turned down by avvo for any real thoughts I have about her or her decision making ability.

I wrote an honest, critical review of an attorney who had caused me very serious financial harm and Avvo notified her, took the review down, and she sued me. We settled for very little, but the terms indicate that I am not allowed to write another review (with her name) -- ever! It's sad what America has come to, what the legal community has reduced itself to, and even more so, the false advertising that this woman pays people to post on this site in order to get clients. People should be warned to avoid her -- and instead, Avvo supplies her with fresh victims.

Avvo employees promise results and deliver garbage. They hijack your credit card number and charge you even after you cancel. Their management are robots and not helpful in an escalation situation. I had to actually visit the bank and place a dispute to end the billing. Steer Clear!

I wrote an honest review about an attorney. They did not approve it. The reviews that they approve are the ones that says good things about attorneys. If you ask questions on Avvo, they will always say you need an attorney. This site is marketing. Beware. Do not believe the reviews.
When this very same lawyer that I have written a review on deceives other innocent clients in the future, Avvo should be held accountable.

Despite the fact that I asked politely, the attorney who answered my question was extremely rude. She insulted me without responding to my questions. You can also see that many people complained about Avvo's attorneys being rude and racists.

I've posted at least 3 questions, all of which went unanswered. I was very detailed and descriptive in explaining the scenarios. They'd only answer "safe" and straightforward questions in my opinion. Any questions with significant legal implications would not be answered. I feel that it defeats the purpose of seeking free legal advise from attorneys.

I wrote a negative but completely objective review on an attorney who poorly represented me. My review was denied. The reviews that make it through all appear to be peer rated if you read them thoroughly. Do not trust this site. I hired my lawyer based on the avvo review and completely regret wasting my time and money!

I'm an attorney and was suckered into advertising/marketing with Avvo. To date, I have received exactly zero leads or return on the investment. I have contacted multiple people with Avvo including but not limited to my account rep and have received nothing but silence. You might as well flush your money down the toilet because it will be less frustrating and equally as profitable as advertising or marketing with Avvo / Nolo / Martindale.

Tip for consumers:
Do not give Avvo or any of its affiliates even $1.

I wrote a negative review on this attorney, it was intelligent and very truthful. Avvo approved it and then it was taken off a few weeks later. Matter of fact all of his negative reviews were removed. DO NOT trust this site! I believe they get paid by attorneys to only post positive reviews. This site is a sham. If you are looking for a probate attorney DO Not use Mark Perryman, he is all about the money and will lose your case. His lack of skill and knowledge caused me to lose my mothers estate.

I was foolish enough to use their client reviews and ratings to hire not one, but two attorneys (one after another). Don't trust the reviews, especially those with 5 stars. They are fake. Both attorneys were unprofessional, never answered my emails or phone calls, missed deadlines. But their reviewers gave 5 stars for responsiveness and professionalism. I am so sorry I trusted AVVO. They should be sued for fraud.

So this site invites you to ask a question and when you do so its hit or miss if anyone answers, more miss than hit. I have seen others who ask questions only to be talk down to or even rude comments by these so called attorney pros. Makes me wonder how these people ever get and keep clients. Nothing but real $#*!s.

My attorney only had 5 star reviews, my experience so far is 1 star All the reviews boasted on how great she was keeping you updated and explaining everything. NOPE she does the total opposite! Getting a divorce is hard but she makes is so much harder and worrisome. :( I will try to post a review again when this crap is over, it the avvo site lets me. I recommend people to also find other sites to review their experience.

Avvo misrepresents the status of attorneys and is completely lacking in transparency.

The basic business model is to scour public records for whether someone has a law license. Whether the person actually practices law is not provided. They represent all lawyers rated as practicing attorneys. Many people attend law school, get a license yet never practice law.

Once Avvo finds a public record, they have an indiscriminate algorithm to rate that individual - again, whether or not they practice law. That algorithm is not exposed to the market. How can someone assess the true rating of an attorney in absence of knowing what the measurement criteria are?

Total joke. Someone trying to make money by scouring public records. You better suited to doing individual research on a known, practicing attorney and skip Avvo.

Being a new solo practitioner, I claimed my avvo account thinking it would be good for marketing. Well they don't even list my area of practice, and now I can't get rid of the profile I claimed. I also have a 6.1 rating out of 10 on the site even though I have NO client reviews yet, no disciplinary action or client complaints, and multiple high-profile appeals and successful speaking engagements. What the heck. On top of all of that I get multiple calls per week from different AVVO representatives trying to get me to finish my profile and participate in the site. No thank you. Do not claim your avvo profile, you will regret it!

Terrible site. I asked a question on liquor laws in Illinois and received a first response from a Divorce Lawyer that just told me I should contact a lawyer. The site is basically a lawyer referral site under the guise of finding anyone that will answer your questions. It's understandable really. Why would they donate their time to working for free?

Oh please. Why would anyone believe Avvo reviews? - either good or bad reviews - when the only object of the Avvo site is to get advertising revenue and dupe desperate lawyers into paying expensive monthly subscription fees in order to get negative reviews removed while trying to procure more clients and business. Avvo is/are vultures who prey on the entire industry - both the lawyers offering services and clients in need of solid representation. Don't believe any reviews (good or bad) posted on that site!- I know from personal experience!

Avvo does not allow bad reviews from clients. I reviewed my lawyer who is not ethical and professional. I listed all reasons and followed what they called " review policy", My review never got approved. I tested with a good review about the same lawyer, it passed right away. Avvo definitely is very subject and provides zero value to the public. Totally a waste of time

I've repeatedly tried to submit a review of my attorney (and not a favorable review), Nevertheless, every time I click "preview," the site tells me that I have 128 characters remaining. I've tried it numerous times, counting every character, and still, the same thing comes up.

They seem to make it impossible to submit a review, and although I've emailed them at their "contact us" address, no one bothers to answer.

My best guess is that avvo is a sham, protecting lawyers who've registered with them and protecting themselves.

I posted a review about an attorney we hired. We read the guidelines and followed the steps. Gave every detail about what happened and hit submit. 12 hours later we were denied. Avvo is just a fluff website run by 1 person who gets paid to sensor the review. Do not trust this website.
