I tries to use site several times. Most attorneys have no information or rating. The site tells you to contact attorneys and I tried that option (some did respond). Avvo asked me to review so I did and it got denied. I answered it honestly (the attorney never responded). So the site is not trustworthy to me.

My last message to Avvo:

As a veteran with multiple honors, and someone who has served his Country in numerous ways for decades, your organization is part of the problem in this Country.

Since you won't stand up for what's right, I won't be wasting anymore time on you. There's other places I can leave reviews about the attorney's behavior. I will also leave reviews about your lack of help and behavior. SHAMEFUL!

I posted a question on the website 31 days ago. Absolutely no response. The question was in reference to sales of handgun to an individual.
Since I had no response I chose to call a local attorney. Just another way for an attorney to get clients.

Avvo to me is a fraud,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, perhaps fixed in many ways,,,,,,,, I rated a lawyer in La Quinta Ca... James Dunne... who was a bait and switch lawyer, hired him... he failed to show up at four court appearances,,,,,,,,,, sent a lawyer who did not know my case, four different ones,,,,,,,, in three months I had no correspondence but a new bill for over 13,000 I fired him... he put my case in Jeopardy according to the Judge... I sent in at least fifty reviews to Avvo and finally said little to nothing near the end, each time my review was denied,,,,,,,,,, you cannot give a negative and true report on this lawyer because it is blocked

Avvo is a scam that should be shut down. I had a long review of a parasite attorney but they refused to publish stating I don't meet their requirement. My review had all the factual information I could back up with documents. I didn't call the attorney names or make claims that were untrue. Yet they didn't publish becuase it didn't meet standards. They even sent a reply stating I should try and sort it out with my attorney. Seriously? If I could would I be coming on your site to leave a review?

Ive tried to leave a review that was negative and it was rejected. I asked why and was told i didnt make it clear that i was a client. It gives you a box to check, the options, client or consultation. I also stated several times that i was represented. My last review they said i was putting their clients in danger for releasing to much information. These people are morons and im reporting them for false advertising. Stay away

I was not told that purchasing a top position was only effective for a limited number of clicks per month. I was told that client reviews increase your rating towards 10. I was later told that it is exclusively reviews by other attorneys that improve the AVVO score. There are review stars by the name/photograph of the purchased positions. However, there is no associated live link. Therefore, for a consumer to find your client reviews, he/she would have to stumble on your entry in the general list. Everyone on the general list has a live link to their reviews. AVVO will not change this.

This business has reviews for lawyers who have not practiced in five years or more. And in one instance, the attorney was employed for many years as a government attorney and has been retired for many years. Yet the site has a numerical point rating for those attorneys. Unreliable information and recommendations. Beware!

Just to prove that this site is a total fraud, I created a fake attorney profile that within days, had a 7.1 rating. A fake profile for an attorney who has no clients from which to get feedback had a 7.1 rating within a few days. This site is not a consumer advocate, it is a pay-to-play website that plays on the egos of the lawyers they purport to profile by convincing them they need to pay to sponsor their profiles, which by the way automatically bumps up the attorney profile rating to as high as a 10.

I was injured in a fall and was advised to hire an attorney by other attorneys involved with the site. I contacted several who never returned my calls. I left a negative review of the site in general which was never posted. The entire site is a sham.

Im in attorney and used to subscribe to AVVO. I canceled my subscription and two clients of mine have tried to post positive reviews on my behalf. AVVO has not published the reviews. Based on my experience, I conclude that this company will only publish good reviews if you pay them.

I have hired 2 separate attorneys from their site and both attorneys were completely incompetent. When I tried to leave an honest review of my experience Avvo kept on rejecting my negative review saying it violated community guidelines. I submitted 4 other reviews and every single one of them was denied by Avvo. Avvo is extremely biased towards their customer (the attorneys who are paying to be on their site) and won't let me leave an honest review. I'm sure I'm not the only one with the same issue and I will do everything in my power to start a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT against them. I lost tens of thousands of dollars by hiring attorneys that had high ratings in their site.

Hired Robert Sobel in Kingwood, TX after reading high AVVO Reviews on him. Biggest mistake I have ever made. He only meet with me once when he took my money. Never talked to him during 1 whole year during my divorce case. Once they took my money they forgot about me. I'm still married and lost $4,500 to this AVVO lawyer.

Worst attorney reporting service! Do not believe their website. They are driven by money and when you give them money they still dont support you and they put lies up on their website about you that are not true or they won't let you explain it. They also won't remove reviews where people lie and they won't investigate them to the attorneys favor don't give credibility to their site also they won't let you off the site if you demand to be removed. It's a one sided scam site in my opinion.

I asked a question about my son and was verbally attacked by one of the attorneys. I went onto their chat site and was told this was normal and ok for the attorneys to do. No one should use the AVVO site.

One star is too high a score for AVVO. I thought AVVO was a legitimate web site that was concerned with protecting the public. I was wrong.

I submitted an entirely factual review of my attorney. I said we had hired her, I was explicit, factual, and detailed about what she did wrong, and I did not attack her personally.

My review was rejected and it was suggested that I look at the guidelines and resubmit it. I looked at the guidelines and it was clear that I had followed them to the letter. So tried talking to an AVVO employee on Chat, and continued to get the run-around with no explanation, and they abruptly cut the Chat off. They are useless.

My attorney MISSED the deadline for a plea offer, and so the U.S. Attorney indicted us due to her negligence. This is a fact and not up for misinterpretation. I provided both detailed facts and time line. AVVO is not interested.

You cannot legitimately write a review because they only post what they want you to read. I posted an honest review about a lawyer who dopped my case because I missed an appointment because I had a family member in icu. Sorry if my family comes first I will never use avvo or any of the lawyers they recommend

My experience with this law office, and Christopher Toews, in particular, has been excellent. They have handled the Estate Plan for my husband and me, and having lost my husband 2 years ago, they have been more than helpful and personally concerned with my well-being and peace of mind. I have recommended them to friends and will continue to do so.

They will deny you for not writing enough detail and then deny you for writing too much detail and then deny you for not having supporting evidence of your statements but wont give you an option to attach the proof so basically according to avvo all the attorneys are 5 star and amazing

I asked two basic questions about filing for bankruptcy, and I had a simple case (no income or asset), but instead of answering the questions, they said,

"you are delusional if you think you can file yourself", "you are in way over your head", "this forum is not a DIY", "don't continue to delude yourself about handling your own BK. The consequences could be tragic", even when I stated I was ineligible for free legal aid by the local office and couldn't afford an attorney.

How can Avvo allow attorney's to troll the site like this?

We had a very poor experience with AVVO. In the many months that we advertised with AVVO, we did NOT GET ONE viable lead! Many of the phone calls were from out of state and many more were from telemarketers. During that time, we received multiple calls from AVVO trying to get us to advertise more lawyers in our office so we were constantly getting sold to. In addition, when we spoke with them the end of Nov. To get a few more days (into Dec.) to decide if we wanted to cancel, their customer service rep said yes but when we tried to cancel on Dec. 3, they said we had to pay through Jan. (per their 30 day cancellation policy). This is not at all what we agreed to over the phone.

AVVO allows anyone, opposing counsel, opposing counsel's client, anyone but an actual client to write a bad review about an attorney.

I have had bad reviews written about me that are 100% false. AVVO will remove the bad review if you pay a subscription fee. Is it a subscription fee or a protection fee?

Avvo is junk. I posted my review of a lawyer and it doesn't post. Avvo sends the message to the lawyer for "he" can verify my review. So basically Avvo only let's you post what the lawyer wants you to post. Bull$#*!
