I am a long time user of build.com. I constantly get what I have come to expect superior service before and after the sale. Love the project section on the website I set up a portfolio on all my custom builds and use it to order when needed. This is a great time saver.
I don't know where all these bad reviews come from, but my experience with build.com couldn't have possibly been any better. We were under a strict deadline with our new construction home because it was featured in a "parade of homes." The local company the builder normally uses for door & bathroom hardware was telling us it would take 4-6 weeks to get the door hardware we wanted, and we would have to go with a very basic (and ugly) style if we wanted them in sooner. I went to build.com and not only got all of the door and bathroom hardware in time, but I also got better prices. I ended up ordering a mirror as well, and the service was just as good. The customer service reps worked with me to make sure everything would be delivered in time, and even applied an additional discount code for me. I would use build.com again in a heartbeat!
I've ordered a number of home items from Build.com. Each and every thing I ordered came quickly and was just as described. I've never been disappointed by any products purchased and when I was pressed for time due to another website which didn't live up to expectation, I always chose Build.com. I appreciated the suggestions on ordering other items as I am just an ordinary person with little to no experience with home renovations and what is necessary. I ordered some bathroom shower faucets from another website and did not receive the necessary valve. When I ordered from Build.com, they suggested the valve which others have purchased with the faucet set I purchased. Their prices are competitive and many times lower than other sites. It is important to read the entire descriptions when comparing on line because sometimes the lower price is a lower quality. Very pleased.
I originally dealt with a manager of customer service who was over the top rude. She was yelling and an $#*!. Since posting my experience and emailing the head of the company, I have been treated in the best possible manner. I have received apologies and the best service of any company. Very responsive and professional. I feel that Build.com takes it's customer service very seriously. I am impressed. One bad apple.
Ordered tile. Gave me a delivery date. I relied upon it. I called to make sure. Then they start back pedaling. The salesman- Brody does not return calls. The others say he is at lunch, not at his desk, on another call, etc.
The customer service is a joke.
They used to be good... I have spent $10,000 plus with them. I am trying to get one thing rectified,, Been through 4 different customer Reps all who said they would get back to me. Nothing... No call back... No email... Nada Zero... I will take my professional Hardware/Lighting Plumbing needs elsewhere... I AM COMPLETELY DONE!

Dumbfoundingly unable to successfully honor a manufacturer's warranty on a product. Their prices are not worth the nightmare that will follow. The problem is enforced from the top, supervisors intervene and block.
I ordered a large number of tiles from Build.com. They arrived less than a week after ordering. However, 2 of the tiles were damaged in shipping. I wrote a quick email to build.com, and within 2 hours they had already shipped the replacement tile. No pushback at all from them. You never know how good service is until you have an issue. Build.com settled my issue quickly and painlessly.
I sent back a set of shower and some valves in separate boxes (as originally received). The tracking with the delivery company went awry and I did not receive credit for over $400 worth of merchandise. When I pursued it with customer service, they initially answered me, but then basically said they couldn't find the merchandise or acknowledge they received it. They had part of my order and credited me $60, but did not acknowledge receiving the rest. Hold times on the phone are excessively long. They did not respond to my last email. They seem okay with the fact my return is lost and I am out over $400. Not their problem? Competitors credit returns as soon as they are scanned at drop off.
I'm a homeowner who ordered a Panasonic vent fan with heat to install in the ceiling of our master bathroom, which has radiant heat in the floor, but is drafty because of a high ceiling. It would replace an existing exhaust-only fan, but the electrician first checked the wiring for the two-function switch I bought and the electrical panel in the basement, said the wiring in the house wasn't adequate. I decided not to rewire and return the vent/fan, but Build.com is going to deduct the $19 or so return shipping charge from my refund of about $200. Only defective items can be returned free.
I have bought Brizo kitchen Faucet and soap dispenser from them two years ago and this week a Towel ring to match our bathroom Brizo faucets and I can't comprehend these negative reviews.
Heck, Amazon doesn't deliver as quickly as build.com did. I even mistakenly double ordered the towel ring, and they sent me an email that they cancelled one of them and were not charging for it.
The reason I went back with them this year is that I was so pleased with them two years ago.
Cheap Chinese Products- false advertisment. Product didnt look anything like picture. Make sure you read description again and again carefully. Order a shower door that took a week to arrive and looked nothing like picture and was the wrong product. Called in to return the product. They deducted 100 dollars for shipping and charged me another 80 dollars for restocking fee. You are better of ordering product from homedepot.com or Lowes.com.

I had an issue with a toilet seat I had purchased and they took care of it right away! As I was leaving town I had some anxiety about getting the defective item back in time. To ease my mind they told me not to bother...just throw it away! I have had nothing but excellent service from this company and their customer service represenatives! FIVE STARS!!!
Ordered 2 of the same small items, one came damaged and a wrong item sent in place of the other which was a huge box. It took a week to process the one return for the damaged item which I had to call to get them to sent a return address label. The incorrect huge box return was not processed until I called a week after initial delivery to get the return address label, at which time they told me it would be another 3-5 business days before the generated that return. What a mess, I had to live with this huge item for two weeks that I didn't even order. Then the kicker they were out of stock of the original items I ordered, so it was a whole ordeal for nothing! They need to expedite their return process! Never ordering from them, ever!
This company is despicable! I wish I could offer ZERO STARS! Do not order from them, they have ZERO customer service and are extremely rude. They will not help you and they make it impossible to contact them. They make it very apparent that they are not in the business of customer service, and they don't want to help their customers. Do yourself a favor and spend your money at a more reputable company. This review is solely based on service Build.com offers as I have not received my delivery.
Long story short I tried to return some cabinet knobs that cost me $27.79. They told me they would send me a shipping label but they would minus $12.12 for shipping. By the way, I paid $6.99 to have them shipped to me so not sure why it costs more to return?
Then she tells me I will get a refund of $8.68. I paid $27.79 minus $12.12 so my refund should be $15.67, right? No its $8.68! The customer service person gave me some ridiculous explanation which made no sense so I said forget it. I don't need the $8.68

We purchased a Viso farmhouse sink and faucet package. The handle on the faucet broke within 6 months of installation. A call to Build resulted in telling us to contact Viso directly.
Currently the faucet has been on back order for over a month with no update on when it might be available.
An email to Build to help resolve the issue resulted in a response of the product is outside the return period.
VERY disappointed in Build not helping to take responsibility for at least helping their customer resolve a problem with a product that they sold.
I ordered a two piece bathroom suite from Build.com. I knew there was a problem was when the tracking number did not 'track' and I had to call the freight company for more information... only to discover that the tracking info did not match my order or shipping address. Sure enough, when the delivery was came, it was completely different items than what I ordered. I called Build.com and they re-shipped the 'correct' items. The second delivery arrived and it was wrong again. When I called customer service, they blamed the distribution center of the manufacturer. They took no responsibility. Three weeks later, still waiting for the third delivery. Three times a charm? Don't use this company. They pass the buck.

Build.com promises a delivery dates on the website, and in the order confirmation email. Next day, they send a email with a new shipping date delayed by four weeks (!). But in order to cancel you need to spending a 30 minutes on hold waiting for a human being, instead of including cancel order link in the email where you are informed of the delay.
Stay away from this sight - the in-stock / inventory claims of the website border on fraud.

We try to provide the most accurate feed from manufacturers and vendors but, unfortunately, because of first come first serve we may be updated by the manufacturer/vendor that the last of the product was purchased slightly before another order is placed. I'd spent time looking at a number of websites, as well as checking in with local stores but I was able to get just what I wanted in a sink at a cheaper price from Build.com. It arrived in excellent condition and within a normal amount of time (exactly 2 weeks) as it came from the mid-west and was delivered to California... during winter.

Answer: I don't know how you can actually get them to answer the correct lead time. I received an estimated ship date when I ordered an American Standard faucet. Then, they emailed me 3 more times with delays. I called them after the first delay, and while I was on the phone with the agent, she placed me on hold and called American Standard, and said they told her that there would be no more delays. After this last delay, I called to cancel the order. They said they would "request cancellation" from American Standard. The big problem is they charged my account IMMEDIATELY when I ordered the product, but won't refund the money until American Standard confirms the cancellation. The service agent i spoke with escalated to her supervisor, and the supervisor is the worst person I have ever encountered when dealing with customer service.
Answer: Sorry to hear that. What finish were you trying to match? Usually its best ti use the same brand name when trying to match a finish, such as a Moen faucet to match a Moen towel bar or towel ring. That is because everybody has their own technique of making their products. I wonder if the finish on your new American Standard faucet is doesn't match because the other item you're matching in not made by American Standard. You should be able to return it if it hasn't been installed in any way and you still have the original packaging. The return items page has complete directions that make it fairly easy to send items back. Good Luck! Anthony
