This City-Data website is literally a cult! I was giving advice on how to improve people's profiles on Tinder using Photofeeler, and my account got permanently banned for "spam". Most of my threads got deleted, even the one asking to rate my dating app biography. This is a dictatorship. Westboro 2.0

Yes, that's right. The poster ended his post with "88", which is code for the 8th letter of the alphabet, which is "H". I reported the post and was given a lifetime ban. That should tell you all you need to know.

Chock full of hillbillies who consider every big city a cesspool. They constantly post threads about how horrible cities and everything they hate about cities (traffic, liberal policies, too many minorities, noise, taxes, etc.) Someone needs to tell these country bumpkins that it's called city data not country data. Nothing wrong with the country, but if you hate cities why go on a site called city data. Ironically many of the people posting are yokels who despise cities and everything about them.

Overzealous moderation, unless you live in southern Oregon, where the California transplant moderator lives.

Most of the regular Oregon posters don't even live in Oregon., and they all seem like older preppers or redneck survivalists.

Maybe TWO of the Six Portland posters do live in Portland, but they are geriatrics with a very limited knowledge of modern Portland.

Everyone. Do not post anything on C. D. web site, forum or purchase anything on their site. Your personal data is not safe. They do not have a certificate. At the very least, they are not allowed to accept credit cards without, at least, a 126 bit SSL certificate. Without a cert. You run the risk of hackers accessing your personal data.

I called out a couple of people who were being insulting and nasty to others. I wasn't insulting or rude in return and I am the one who gets banned. They have a right wing agenda and if you don't the will look to censor you. It's ok to call other people names, be insulting, post racist, misogynist posts but you can't stick up for those people. Marka is a HORRIBLE human being who really needs to be investigated which I have started the process of doing.

I wrote a good response, full of information that most people are not aware of, and immediately got banned. OK, so my company provides the service that I mentioned, but the post was written about the services in general and not specifically about my company. That is not "advertising or spamming". That's just childish stupidity on the part of the moderator.

The forums are useless and the "general" forums are filled with hate speech and promotion of racist agendas. In the city forums, most people are there with an agenda or some type of chip on their shoulder. Don't be associated with the site, it could reflect negatively on you

The site isn't actually that bad for things that are not related to politics. However, the mods (especially Igibinne) might as well be mouthpieces for Trump or DeSantis. They've gone as far as deleting threads that go hard against far right Republicans. I had a thread that pointed out something pro Biden and got typical blow back from most of their users which at least in the Politics Forum are Right Wing Nut Jobs. However when my thread was locked they deleted my posts in the thread and said it was because of "trolling" but left one in the thread where the poster used terms like "race pimps".

I just got a zero point warning on there for supposedly being rude to a moderator. However, said moderator was rude to me first in her reply to my thread. It's okay if she disagrees with me, but it wasn't okay in how she worded it. I guess being a moderator, a.ka. God, lets her get away with attacking posters, but the same can't be said in reverse.

I live in the state which protect my rights and they are breaking my rights because they are publishing information about me which is not allowed by the laws in my state. Furthermore, the information on their site is false and misleading and should be removed before litigation is filed.

A student left a positive review of my teaching and was banned and called a spammer. He responded to an old inquiry about someone looking for a good singing teacher. He was banned because other also people had mentioned my name. They took all the other people who gave me a good review off also. Why would they do that?

Some of the local boards are have decent info, but it's overwhelming right-wing. Mods give all kinds of latitude to conservatives, but they will squash people of the left who push back. Loudest voices are always far right. It's a joke that some people are saying it's liberal. Maybe a few local board, IDK, but it's overwhelmingly right wing.

I just got suspended from CD from the same right-wing mod for defending myself from right-wing poster. Every suspension comes from the same mod, Ibginnie. The poster who called me a name apparently did not get suspended as his post is still up. The mods there have favorites and their favorites on the politics side can post without fear of removal if they share the same political ideology.

She deletes posts and locks threads that aren't personal or antagonizing to other posters but posts and threads she simply disagrees with. No idea how she became a mod but the site would be a lot better off without her.

Everything about their policing policy is privatized. You aren't able to tell what you said wrong until it's too late. Your content may get deleted for any reason, usually for the very extreme broad reason of "personal attacks", which could include anything from disagreeing with someone (literally saying "I disagree") to calling out an obvious troll. The mods expect you to worship them. They banned me forever... which is funny because I couldn't care less as I'll just whip a new username and account in no time. And just out of spite, when I'm ready to take a sabbatical from the forum, I'll be sure to send the main mods a PM telling them who I really am as a way to say eff you.

The local forums are okay-ish. It's the politics forum that sucks. It's pretty much an echo chamber for the alt-right trolls, who've deluded themselves into thinking they're the good and peaceful guys. The forum is full of fear-mongering and boogeyman against BLM/Antifa/democrats. Say anything against the hive mind and they'll come down and swarm at you, even if you present them with proof. Currently going through a meltdown cause Trump lost. Avoid this forum, unless you want your brain to rot or have some fun with these weirdos.

There are a lot of regional sites for US states, these can be pretty good. Automotive section is also decent. There is also a politics forum, which can be pretty rough, as you might imagine. That's okay, but the moderation, at least the moderation by Ibginnie, is terribly biased, and is unprofessional. They are obviously a rabid conservative. They let all kinds of ugly misbehavior by conservatives go unchecked, but if you set one foot over the line with a liberal or anti-Trump view, you get an angry, snarling private message from moderator Ibginnie and you get your account suspended. That's one quiet, stealthy way of making sure that Trump looks good I guess, but they don't bill themselves as a bastion and defender of MAGA, they describe themselves as just a friendly, general purpose site. Definitely NOT fair and unbiased - rabid, Trump-defending dragons dwell here as moderators.

She's the most outright bias, old hag, moderator known to man. She uses her "opinion" on what constitutes a snarky post yet allows another poster to post whatever the hell they want if they agree with her.

What's hilarious is she responds to trolls (which is against TOS) with nonsense advice (she's ancient) and they never return. Every time.

Her messages to the "offender" are absolutely the rudest thing I've ever read. Ya know... the thing she's banning you for! Its an epidemic now. It's outright BS. The city-data forum censors everyone because it operates from North Korea. Pyongyang, to be exact. Kim Jong-Un's brother (Kim Jong-Chul) is the city-data forum administrator. The extreme vast majority of the city-data forum moderators live in Pyongyang. And as the city-data forum adheres strongly to the laws of their country (North Korea), there is no freedom of speech. I even came across a recent post in which the quoted replies of the administrator and the senior moderator Yac literally showed their colors.

And it's no wonder because North Korea is a totalitarian dictatorship. Anyone who visits there quickly lears that North Korea is more prison than country, and they treat you like you're in a prison. No wonder the city-data forum mods act like nazis. They are heavily loyal to North Korea's dictators.

Have strange moderators who gloat about how they volunteer to mod city data. I called out a poster for making incorrect/false statements and my replies were deleted. The moderator in the city-vs-city forum said it was because the conversation had ended but why are you leaving the other posts up then? Someone literally replied with a fact-based list calling out the other poster (which is the comment I replied to) and my reply to that post was even deleted even though all I said was "great list love to see facts brought in". And they wonder why the site is bleeding users and has dying subforums.

Mind you this moderator named MJLO (mjlo) sent me a curse world filled DM that I was able to forward to senior moderators before given a ban. City-Data, you want your site to compete with reddit, telegram, discord? Allow moderators who aren't emotional

This forum is heavily racist and infiltrated with right-wing extremists (users and moderators alike). The racism isn't just limited to the Politics and Controversies forum - it is widespread across ALL CATEGORIES. I am still a user on the website and have been reported or temporarily suspended numerous times for calling out the right-wing racism. I won't be surprised if they ban me soon.

Wow I would have never signed up on this site if I knew that. I am also banned for life and called a troll at 71was shocked never banned from any site. Racism in the political section. If you say that is wrong you to will be called a troll and banned.
