I had a prepaid booking for Ford Fiesta at cost of £156.02 booked in advance.
Due to a flight delay we arrived (not sure 1 or 2 hours late) the manager ( Gavin) told us that our car was canceled because we are late. (PRE BOOKED AND PRE PAID CAR!)
Apparently, I have to call (from the plane) to let them know I am late.
ON booking voucher, not a word that I have to do so!
And nothing mention on T&C https://www.easirent.com/rental-terms/

In the office they show me on the screen (but did not print it out) the following:
"If you know you may miss the start of your hire, please contact the branch as soon as possible to let them know. If you cant get through please call our support team on *******045. We can only hold a car for you for a limited amount of time, especially during busy periods. "

The Manager said that another car KIA is available at £280.80, which was more expensive, and my previous booking is canceled. ( he did not say "an upgrade", he said "another car at the cost of £280.80" Myself and my husband both witnessed what was said at the time.)
My husband spotted Ford parked outside and pointed that to the manager, who said that it's already booked for another customer.
Basically, he forced us to take the more expensive car (not mentioning that its an upgrade) and we left with the impression that there will not be a charge of the first booking of £156.20.

The manager gave us misleading information and instead planned £156.20 we paid £436.75 on which we never agreed.

I was so stressed and upset that I did not check contract properly which he gave me and was sure that he will arrange a refund of £156.20

When my husband and I came to the office and complained, he refused to accept that he gave us wrong information on the charges. We both feel that we have been coned and given misleading information. I better pay extra and rent from the decent rental company, as we did not get any refund or apologies. Stay away from this cowboys.

I've researched the brand online and despite mixed reviews I've decided to try it.
I've called the company 3 times before renting to make sure all the details and pre-arrangements are right and there is no misunderstanding.
On the day of rental I've called the branch twice to confirm later pick-up.

And then things turned out not as expected.

First of, the free shuttle bus from London Gatwick to branch that is supposed to operate all the time does have specific times - and 40 minute slots - and there is no way of knowing the time but calling the company from the bus stop. Secondly, the last shuttle is leaving from London Gatwick at 22:30, which was not communicated - few customers had to take a £16 taxi to get to the branch when I was there, rightly angry.

Worst of all, upon arrival I was told that they don't take a deposit on a Debit Card and therefore the only way to rent it is to buy an insurance package. The Debit Card Deposit issue was not mentioned anywhere in the terms&cond, on the website or via phone. The staff at the reception acted like its a routine thing to say to customer and they admitted it happens very often.

Therefore, from £20 rental the price jumped to £100, and I was left with either taking a £16 taxi back to the airport, or taking the wonderful offer. Oh, did I mention there is a Wifi that doesn't work?

So at the end I decided to take the 500% more expensive offer as I was stuck in the branch at 11:30pm with tired passengers waiting only to get home.

The car itself was OK, however staff acted like there is no need to check anything and I was prompted through every signature check ('Don't have to read it - just sign here!') - it was ridiculous.

Overall - avoid - better to pay few pounds extra rather than play a russian roulette with this company.

I rented a car at London Heathrow, the easirent offices are as bad as their customer service. Their employees seems to be all unhappy and in stress, which they pass onto customers as they have no answers.
Akshay was the name of the agent to whom I spoke. The first issue i encountered was that according to him and his manager, my debit/credit card would not allow to do a "depost" or block it, so i should pay it in cash. After insisting many times, the guy tried and of course it worked, i joke to him and said, hei you can tell your boss that actually works and teach him something, he answered "you are being patronizing"... from there onwards the customer experience just went all the way down to hell. It took us 1 hour to get through paperwork, after which when i went to pick up the car, they did not have any ready yet, their clerk told me that if i want a clean car i need to wait another 30´ to which i said, no way, and I requested a disounted price for giving me a car that is not ready... he said, the car is ready we just need to clean it, and that is what he was offering... in the end we left with the car like that.
I am now fighting back to get the funds back of what they block as a deposit and petrol...
The car in the end was ok and we had no issues. Returning the car was quick.
I talked to another customer and he told me, it is cheap but their service is pure rubish...
I would definetely pay more money to avoid these monkeys!

Summary:
Between inaccurate information, unfair fuel policies, hidden charges, and a ludicrous drop-off charges I STRONGLY advise that nobody use this car hire company.

Location:
They claim to be in Glasgow's Central Station, but are a 25 minute walk from the station. I don't mind a walk, but this might come as an unexpected surprise and I certainly wouldn't classify it as a station rental company.

Fuel Policy:
You have to either take their over-priced tank of fuel, or buy fuel from the local garage AND PROVE IT with a receipt. I have rented cars all over the world and have never come across this kind of insane requirement. Surely fuel is fuel regardless of where it is bought? I was given a nonsense reason of "it might not be full if you fill it far away" which is fine, but I was also told that they'd not accept it if I "topped off" at the local garage and would require receipts from all garages.

This is completely bananas, and made me suspicious of the whole thing, but I proceeded with the hire anyway.

Pick up:
I was given a car, and told it was "immaculate, not a scratch" but sure enough, when I did my walk around (whilst being hurried by the staff member) I found at least 5 obvious scratches. They clearly wanted me to not inspect properly, or hoped I'd not notice.

Drop-off:
Upon drop off I was told that one of the aforementioned scratches had happened during my rental. Despite having highlighted it, the first staff member hadn't noted it down and told me "not to worry about that one". The scratch is barely visible, thinner than a human hair, but still they managed to file it under a charge category which saw me paying £260. It's a case of my word against theirs, but this was a serious case of going by the book, even when it was clearly unfair.

The worst bit is, they won't bother repairing it at all - they never do!

BEWARE OF PREDATORY INSURANCE UPSELL IN EASIRENT'S CONTRACT TERMS AND CONDITIONS! If you're looking for an affordable car rental and choose their company based upon their low rates, understand that they're low rates will actually double at checkout based upon their insurance policy. If I could leave 0 stars I would! I travel for business and rent cars on a weekly basis and have never been subject to a policy like this one. Upon traveling to Miami Florida this was the 1st time that I had rented through Easirent... and the last. In their contract they require you to purchase supplemental liability insurance even though I had rental car insurance. It's buried in the terms and conditions. So my 3 day, $140 car rental turned into a $320 car rental. The agent at the time and afterwards the customer service rep on their 800 number told me that it was Florida law. **It is not Florida law, it is a company rule*** One that makes their company is significant amount of money more. The 1st car had a service issue and needed to be exchanged for another car with no credit for my time spent traveling 30 minutes back to the airport one way. The customer service was ok after having to return the 1st car for his service malfunction. However the up sell was not ok. STAY AWAY!

Avoid, avoid, avoid
January 26, 2019

I recently made an online booking for a rental car + insurance with easirent.com.
Once arrived at Manchester Airport, I waited for my parents flying in from another airport and rang up the company for pick up. I had to call 4 times before we finally got picked up more than 1 hour later. At the easirent office, an advisor set up a contract for us and made us sign on a signpad. There was no printed contract or cost summary. Having payed everything online when I booked the car, I was not expecting hidden costs. The advisor briefly outlined that there was a deposit to pay for fuel and in case we had an accident but that everything would be reimbursed once I returned the car. Having booked cars online before, I thought this was a normal procedure because a deposit is usually withhold at car collection. Only when I checked my email the day after, I found that I had been charged 487£!
When I returned the car (4 days later), the manager gave vague explanations such as I showed up 3 hours later than my plane landed which is why the first booking was cancelled and a new contract had to be set up'. After long discussion, I was told that the only thing I could do was to contact the head office the next day.
While talking to other customers outside the easirent office, I realised that providing customers with dubious information to make them sign intransparent car rental agreements seems to be common practice. The customers said they were charged 300£ extra because easirent would not accept their credit card although apparently these cards were usually working just perfectly well.

Our charges included, for instance, a 180£ fee because the lead driver and the credit card holder were not the same person. I specifically asked whether there would be extra charges for this matter twice (over the phone and in person) before signing anything and I was reassured that there were no extra costs. I was charged 100£ for upgrades that I had never asked for and honestly still don't know what those upgrades entailed. I was charged 92£ for some extra insurance I had not asked for. The advisor told us about a 95£ fuel deposit which would be reimbursed if the car is returned full. We're still waiting to receive the money.

Be very careful
April 18, 2016

I travel to the UK quite often from Italy & i always try & get the best deal... however i will never use easirent at Stansted again! In the 1st instance they ask for your credit card details including the secure code on the back of the card DONT GIVE THEM THIS & ASK FOR THE FORM BACK SO YOU CAN DESTROY IT YOURSELF! We had to wait for the car because it was being washed, when it finally arrived it was still wet! So this made it very difficult to go over the car to check for any damage, none of the staff are mother tongue, which isn't a problem for me, but their English is terrible & the guy with the clipboard kept saying "car ok you sign form" when i returned the car... surprise surprise they found a miniscule scratch on one of the alloys! There were 5/6 Russian guys present & i wasn't going to argue, i have private insurance so i knew i wouldn't have to spend a penny! But i believe it could be an intimidating situation for some people! Total cost of the miniscule scratch on the alloy... £200 and i doubt very much if it has been repaired! So my advice is be very careful if you choose this company!

I had the pleasure of hiring at Heathrow. Firstly, it was 2 hours from getting out of the airport to driving the car away. Bus took 30 mins to come, 20 mins to get there, then they somehow spend an hour getting you your car. I think they grind you down through time until you agree to take and pay whatever. My rep even spent 10 minutes hand writing down the insurance options even though i know he had a card with all the options on. He conveniently left out the cheapest options. And I too ended up paying a figure that it seems their sales reps have to hit - £168 extra for insurance. Plus while i was there, i saw 10 people try to get their cars. I heard the phrase bait and switch 4 times as they didn't honor free driver coupons to 2 customers, plus 2 other people got lesser cars than they paid for, with one screaming for his money back for 30 minutes. One other even left the place he was so mad at them and he had a platinum amex and they didn't honor his cdw insurance from them without a very specific letter etc. The manager was 3 feet away serving another customer and didn't even interveen or address the client's raging concerns. This company is built on false advertising, and rip off tactics, with the explicit goal of taking desperate tourists for all they can get away with. As for me, i agreed to the upsell insurance, so that's on me, but I was a day late and missed my car. So now they only had the most expensive car and it was conveniently the last one on the lot, so i paid through the nose for it. Then of course when the guys brought my car up, it was a ford mondeo like i wanted, stick shift. I asked if this was right as i though they didn't have it in stock. No, it's right. But of course it wasn't, and that was reserved for another client. And it might have been, but based on what i saw that 75 minutes i was there, i highly doubt it. Never again, and I recommend the same to anyone else too.

We prebooked and prepaid for an 11 day rental out of Glasgow Airport as part of our extended European trip. We made a mistake on the start date by one day, and when we arrived to collect our car the following day, we were told that our reservation had been cancelled and we could either forfeit the entire rental amount or pay an additional 70 pounds per day for one of two available cars(which was more than twice what we had paid in prepayment per day). The employee told us that there were very few cars available at the airport with automatic transmissions and that the additional charge was "today's going rate". We tried to get part of our prepayment refunded and he was very rude and said we signed a contract (which we didn't get a copy of until the day the payment automatically posted since we booked through RyanAir) and we had no options. We contacted BUDGET and they had multiple available cars that met our needs and their price was about what we paid as a prepayment. When we arrived at Budget, we were offered upgrades to much better cars than we were offered by Easirent for 10-20 USD per day. (which we still didn't do). I felt like I was at a SLEEZY USED CAR LOT and was being sold a bill of goods. We are working with our credit card company to get a refund, but not holding our breath. RUN AWAY FROM EASIRENT AS FAST AS YOU CAN - IT IS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE AND ATTITUDE!

Where do I begin? Let's start with arriving at the rental desk only to be told that insurance is mandatory unless I have written proof that I already have insurance. In no document that I received following confirmation of my rental was I informed of this. Easirent then informed me that following the rental reservation I should have gone to the Fox Rental website and read through their pages of terms and conditions to find this. I then asked to use the phone to call my credit card company (which is a collect call) and was told no, I can't use the phone because then they would have to pay for the call. Finally after putting up a stink I could use their phone. I of course couldn't get through to my credit card company because it was the middle of the night in Canada. I went with Easirent because it had the lowest price but with the insurance I ended up paying the highest price of any of the rental companies. Finally after 1.5 hours in their office and 30 minutes of waiting for the actual car, one of the staff members pulled up in a car that looked like a mini. I book an economy car because we would be doing a lot of driving around England. Thankfully we packed light. The economy car that I paid for was supposed to fit 3 suitcases in the trunk. Ours couldn't fit two so we had to use the back seat. I went to address this issue and the company could not have cared less. Lastly, we got a ticket for driving in a bus lane in Oxford. We got an email that this would cost 30 GBP. No problem. It was our fault. Then I check my credit card bill and we are charged 85 GBP. So I check the contract and it says there is a 55 GBP admin charge for any traffic fines. 55 GBP. Are you kidding me? For what? To pay a bill? Worst service I have ever received and I will be sure to write scathing reviews on every review site I can find. Never rent with this company.

Terrible - absolute con!
December 28, 2015

Do not use this company! Paid to have additional insurance over and above, which I thought allowed the deposit to be waived. Arrived at the rental shed to be told that we were required to pay an excess of £1,250 and it must be on a credit card. I don't have a credit card and after i explained this the man was happy to waive this and let me charge the amount to my debit card. I asked some additional questions because I wasn't sure as to why I paid for excess insurance and still had to pay such a high deposit. The whole process was so unclear and no way transparent! The more questions I asked, the more rude the employee became! After I asked questions, he then decided that I couldn't charge the deposit to my debit card and I would have to take out ANOTHER insurance of £132! An absolute con! I didn't trust this man or company at all and we decide not to take the car! I then called the broker we booked through to be told we couldn't cancel because our car pick up was 9am is it was now 9.40am! So me, my husband and four year old had to make other arrangements as I was not giving this company any more money and certainly didn't feel confident about driving away in any of their cars! Had we not had family an hour away, we would have been completely stranded in the middle of no where with no offer of being taken back to the airport. Terrible customer service, probably the worst ive ever experienced! Upon leaving, we spoke to other customers who had the same issue. Appears that they earn significantly from such insurance sales! Very unclear and will most definitely be taking this further! Just to be clear, we have rented cars on numerous occasions in the past and never had such issues.

If I had known this before. I just returned to Germany and I joined the club, of the people here in this circle feeling ripped off and having experienced the worst car rental company service ever. Reading your reviews is like replaying a movie in my head. Not just the absolute slowest service ever, since I arrived with the first flight from Germany there trying to phone them at 07:15 until 09:30, when I finally got my car. It took ages for the shuttle to pick me up and nearly an hour to go through all the paper work. I felt really under pressure, when they tried to sell me the full cover, even when I explained to them plenty of times that I am fully insured by my credit card company and through the agency where I booked the car.

The cost for the full cover was 95 GBP for 2 days double the price of the rent. Then they told me I would get a Fiesta full tank and I have to returned it full 10 Minutes later did I get a Kia Picanto totally dirty, with dents and scratches and the tank not even half full. I complained but was also under time pressure to get the car, as for my first appointment I was already too late. They inspected that dirty care for scratches and I told them that I would not accept any claim from them for damages, as I got this dirty car where I could not spot all damages. To cut a long story short I returned next day the car with a tank ¾ full. They went around the care to check for damages but I made very clear that I would not accept any claim. So, they finally marked on my copy OK.

So when I checked my credit card account did I learn that they charged me the 95 GBP.

Even though they book it back it is a joke to pay a deposit of 95GBP for not even a half full tank. My only advice here stay away from Easirent Birmingham. This is an absolute nightmare. Better pay a bit more to prevent from such problems

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
Imagine going to a fully legit car rental business with multiple locations, and them giving you a WRECKED CAR to drive around... Yes that is exactly what happened to me. On top of that, the guy MIRZA, was rude about it. He started off nice, then when I refused the upsell on the insurance and toll tag, he switched directions, changed his attitude and then decided to give me a wrecked car! Not only that, but also NO KEY FOB, NO POWER DOORS, NO POWER WINDOWS. Just a single key to open the door with.

The hood kept unlatching as well! THAT was the last straw and I felt then it is a safety issue, so I need to get rid of this car before my wife and I get into an accident!
I tried changing it out in Miami as that is where I was staying, they said NO, unless they charge me $50 extra there AND $50 at the other location where I picked up the car! Even though it a safety issues, JESUS at the Miami location was big $#*! and didn't help at all! There was about 15 cars outside of their location, but he said he didn't have any. I told him to please do something as this is a safety issue and I do not want to DIE! Guess what he said... he said to drive slow! Worse, he said come back the next day as we could tell he didn't want to deal with it. We returned the next day to find out about the $50 bullsh** they tried to put on us.

In the end, I kept the piece of sh** car they gave me but will NEVER rent from them again. I suggest you do NOT either. They WILL treat you like crap if you refuse any of their upsells!

By far my worst car hire experience ever, from someone with scores of previous hires to compare with.

- I was not told which car I had hired on arrival. Just presented with a list of cars all of which turned out to be upgrades.
- There is no "full to full" fuel service, I was told I had to buy £30 of fuel from the rental firm and bring back empty (I hate doing empty returns).
- Having waited almost an hour for my car to be retrieved I was in the car ready to leave when the rep came out and told me it was "D-Fleet" meaning it was not in service and I would have to take another car
- I was given what looked like a lower spec (petrol Kia Sportage as opposed to diesel and good internal spec + satnav Qashqai), certainly not the upgrade car I actually wanted, and was told they could swap the paperwork. I was so late for work at this stage I just wanted to take a car and go and simply didn't have the time to argue my corner further
- Whilst waiting I watched a distraught woman telling the staff the damage on her car they said she caused could not possibly have been done by her. She was subsequently charged for damage and for "admin costs".
- On returning the car I had the same experience, a scratch I am positive I did not cause, that did not pierce the paint work was found. I was charged £95 plus VAT plus £50 "admin fee". I am adamant I did not damage the car when driving it
- On leaving I could see the same rep in the forecourt having a significant argument with the next customer returning a car!

Absolutely awful experience and a load of stress and hassle on top of the extra cost. Please, please check Rentalcars when booking a car, if it says "Easirent" or "Rentalcars recommends" rather than stating a hire firm then stay away and get the next least expensive car - you will save money, time, and stress aplenty!
