Never trust them
July 29, 2022

I booked flights thru Expedia, for a European trip and cruise, which as a senior, required saving for years. The agent misspelled my name. I contacted Expedia and asked that it be corrected. They can /will not and asked me to wait 72 hours, 3 days, for the airline to correct the mistake. I waited 4 days without any response. I contacted Expedia again and was told they can do nothing and that the airline must approve a name change. Btw, they listened to the phone call made, to book my flight, and discovered the agent did not ask my name spelling. I offered to cancel the itinerary, (eventually I would receive a refund) and during the phone call, rebook the same flights. They refused, unless I paid a cancellation fee and pay a higher cost as the air fare has increased since the initial booking- aprox. $1000. To pay for their mistake! I refused as I did nothing wrong. I was told they will contact the airline and to wait another 3 days. The same day, I called Expedia back and said as they made the mistake, they should pay any cancellation costs plus the additional fare, in order to resolve the problem. The agent told me that is against the rule. I asked that a supervisor be consulted. He said he already did. I was again told to wait for 72 hours. I then learned I would not be allowed to board a plane with tickets not consistent with my passport name. The airline says it is Expedia's mistake. Expedia is saying the airline is responsible. I called back again and asked for the Expedia issue escalation process. They will do nothing either, except wait for the airline to approve a name change. The spelling mistake is only one letter missing in my first name. So because of Expedia's clerical mistake I have to pay and additional $1000. To be allowed to be on the flight I already paid for! The alternative is to lose the hotel costs, cruise, excursions insurance and flights - $5500 already paid for. Expedia must make lots of money from their clerical errors.
I have my itinerary with my misspelled name but as a senior, am not tech smart I do not know how to transfer it onto this site. Same with my receipt for full payment.

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE PLEASE-I booked my first and last trip through Expedia today. I called the 1-800 number (Philippines call centre) because I thought it would prevent me from making any mistakes in the booking. It took 30 minutes to book the trip and 4 hours (along with various calls and speaking to 5 different people) to fix the mistake that the booking agent made (ie he entered the wrong name on one of the tickets, even though he spelled all the names out for me... how do you do that?). They re-booked our flights 3 times because they kept getting the names wrong (FYI-names aren't that difficult, and all last names were the same, but they kept getting 1/3 last names wrong?) During that time the flight price went up over $100 US dollars... they offered me a $25 coupon-they finally agreed to $100 coupon which still hasn't been emailed to me.
I called the airline to ensure that the booking information was correct because I was so doubtful after dealing with Expedia, and the airline said Expedia didn't book the seats on the plane and should have... I've just paid another $100 US to book the specific seats with the airline... I AM DUMBFOUNDED BY THE DISORGANIZATION, REPEATED MISTAKES AND EXTRA CHARGES I INCURRED DUE TO THEIR MISTAKE... after 7 hrs on my day off, and an extra $200US dollars, I think I actually have the tickets we want... I should have called American Airlines directly

Booked a flight for last June 1st from Montreal-Vancouver. Was moving cross the country. On May 29th the Moving Company calls me and says that they have to postpone by one day for some unforeseen reasons. Fine, I call Expedia to change the flight to June 2nd. Call Expedia to postpone the flight by one day. Expedia Rep tells me not a problem at all. I show up for a 6PM flight, now remember I have surrendered my keys to my apartment and am leaving Montreal. Get in line an hour early at the Air Canada Check-In counter. After 10 minutes I get to the counter. Give the Rep my name and ID. She tells me that we don't have you on any flight. Only that your flight was cancelled the previous day, but nothing was re-booked. Get on the phone with Expedia, right there at the counter, and the Rep tells me that they made a mistake and didn't confirm the booking. In other words, the Moron Expedia Rep did not hit the enter sign on her keyboard. Rep tells me that there is nothing she can do except book on tomorrow's same flight at 6PM. She sends the Confirmation through to Air Canada for the next evening's flight. I spent overnight in the Airport in the middle of Covid with no places open to eat. Tried to sleep on a bench as if I was a homeless person. Called Expedia once I was in Vancouver for some type of recompense. I mean they did screw up so badly that it boggles the mind. A Supervisor comes on the line and she starts arguing with me. Finally she gives in and offers me a $200. Hotel Voucher in the middle of Covid. Something they know will just expire. I lost it totally and hung up. Stay the hell away from the most incompetent Travel Company ever who won't even take responsibility for their own incompetence.

We bought tickets to travel to Mexico, thru Expedia. On their page there is a option to cancell the ttickets but you have to buy insurance. We did. It is call Global Cancelation plan. Cost us another 112$ on top of everything. It's all nice and roses until you actually need to cancel. You think you are insured and things will go smooth. Well not that easy. First of all, make sure you already eat, went to the bathroom and take a day of so you will be able to catch them on the phone if you are lucky. If you are out of Canada and US, so help you God to find a phone nr that actually works. The customer "support" don't know nothing, the supervisor, boss, comander in chief is always "UNAVAILBLE", instead of fixing the problem they gave you the run arround, and now I have to deal with the insurance company when I bought the insurance at the same time with the tickets on Expedia website. The customer rep gave me a phone nr, and I called while on speaker from another phone and it says number incorect. So here it is for you. If you want to be treated like this, go for it. For me, last time I ever buy or do business with Expedia, and I suggest you do the same.
P.S. Their virtual assistent it's an insult to any person with a 5 plus IQ

My flight disaster
August 22, 2022

I had booked a flight for my daughter and myself from Kelowna to Vancouver for Aug. 21,2022 with Westjet airline credits that I had with Expedia from a previous cancelled flight to and from Toronto during Covid. In order for these Westjet airline credits to be valid, I was told that I had to book the flight before Dec. 2021. So, I did. When I went to check in the day before my flight on Aug. 20,2022, I was unable to do so. I contacted Westjet, and I was told that I had to contact Expedia as the flight was booked through them. When I spoke to an Expedia rep, I was given the two ticket numbers (for myself and my 14 year old daughter), and was told to phone Westjet again and give them the ticket numbers. When I did, I was told that these ticket numbers were for my first initial flight for Toronto during the Covid period. The Westjet rep said that Expedia never re-issued the tickets to me for my Kelowna flight. I was absolutely shocked. The rep spoke with her superiors, and was told that I would have to pay an extra $380 per ticket for her to book me on another Westjet flight on Aug. 21. I HAD to be back in Vancouver the next day for an important medical appointment, so that is why I had booked our flights for Aug. 21. I was mortified. I am a single mom and did not have extra money to pay an extra $760 to purchase new tickets for my daughter and myself. I asked the Westjet rep what would happen to my airline credits through Expedia, and she said that if I did not book them now with her, that I would lose them. Because I could not afford the extra money, I was forced to let me airline credits go, and I had to book tickets for the EBus to take us back to Vancouver. It took us a total of 7.5 hours to get back to my house by Ebus, instead of the hour flight that I initially booked back in Dec. 2021. I will be telling all of my friends and family about my horrible experience with Expedia, and will NEVER book anything through them again.

After spending an hour repeating numbers and spellings over and over again with an Expedia agent who did not speak English well I finally succeeded in making the booking (or so I thought). The Agent provided me with an itinerary number and told me she would email it to me as well and I can also access it in my account. I have been spending two days with Expedia who will not provide me any information on the booking as their employee (the agent I spoke with) had made the booking under the wrong name and account. Meanwhile, I was charged and can not use my credit card to make another booking. They keep repeating the same over and over, "we can not look into this as we can not verify you because you are not giving the correct email, name, and phone number the booking is under. I was provided only the itinerary number which they will not give me any information on as they can not verify me due to their employee booking my booking under another name and account entirely while they charged my credit card.

To make a long story short, after two days of arguing the price of the tickets has now gone up by at least 1000$, I can not book anywhere else, and I do not have any recourse! Their system can only verify with the number and name on the account and no other way through the charges on my credit card can I find a resolution to this. I have asked for a supervisor to contact me but to no avail. One agent told me that they can't even open a complaint or supervisor request unless I am "Verified". I have provided the names on the ticket (my wife), the dates of travel, and the destination of the booking with my credit card number but yet I can not be verified. Lexi (the agent) you have created a hellish nightmare for me for which there is no immediate solution. You have cost me at least a thousand dollars so far and have taken away my ability to make any other booking. And all of this after I spent an hour painstakingly spelling and repeating the same thing 10 times and you still got it wrong! I have never seen any system so stupid that an employee's mistake can not be fixed or resolved in any other way!

The credit company will not even put a dispute on the charge as it is still pending. The airlines that the bookings were made with have no proof of any bookings and say it will take 3 days for "pending" charges to be withdrawn. 3 days that I do not have! Avoid at all costs this company that just does not give a damn. This company deserves to be boycotted until they fix their system and start giving a damn.

I am not going to post a picture of proof of purchase because it has my credit card information. I was charged $2,360.40 and $1,684.62 for a total of $4,045.02 and am still paying as the tickets that I wanted have gone up in price by a thousand dollars!
