My local Walmart's grocery delivery experience for the last several months -- all fruit and vegetables are rotten, moldy and spoiled. All of them. Bright yellow bananas smashed on the inside. Apples completely bruised on the inside and mushy spots on the peel, like if they're dropped, thrown or covered in other things. Raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and strawberries actively growing mold. Rock hard limes, squishy and dried up oranges. Smashed bread. "Want to return them? Bring them to us." If I could run to the grocery store I wouldn't have set up delivery. It's like management has been instructed to use produce and dairy that's being tossed out due to spoilage and expiration. Sitting in the back of the store unrefrigerated. Milk completely sours and spoils and sometimes becomes chunky in just a few days. I'm talking like four or five days. "Don't have your primary choice? No worries! We might stick something else in there." The deliveries were getting so ridiculous I chose specific substitutions, but the order pullers literally just throw something in, like there's no guidelines for the substitutions. Sometimes, they don't even do that - they just say nothing is available. It doesn't matter when you schedule an order; at least twice a month I'm told they need to be "scheduled at a more convenient time," even days later. Also, at least once a month, when I'm told they have no stock and I physically go to the store - they are completely full with gorgeous looking fresh produce... really? A few times a month I'm given the notification that "This item cannot be delivered to this zip code...?" That's funny, you delivered it to me for six months before today. I have also had to change several items I choose due to Walmart sliding them right on into the "three-day shipping only." Which I probably wouldn't mind so much, except Walmart charges state and local taxes for shipping. No shipping charges, just really high taxes. And I'm a tax-exempt customer, so I don't understand that part. I guess that only applies to local retail.

Worst delivery service... EVERRRR
September 29, 2021

This is the third time that I'm missing items from my order. I only ordered like 4 times from them. Last time ended my relationship with Walmart. Not only did the driver place my order in front of my neighbor's door, I knew half of my items were missing when I saw the package delivered pictures. There were only 4 bags, but I ordered around $180 worth of stuff for a small party/gettogether. A Tetris Champion wouldn't have been able to fit all that stuff into 4 bags. Getting a refund or complaining about an order is brutal. It's like pulling teeth. They don't make it easy compared to DoorDash. Expect to be on the phone for a while as they waste your time. They refunded me $113 worth of stuff that was missing, but I'm just waiting on that to get deposited in my account. They don't even have the decency to give you a 5%-10% off coupon towards your next order for all your troubles. Needless to say, the party sucked since over half my items were missing. How does that even happen?

The icing on the cake is that even though an order would get canceled, the driver still gets the tip whether they delivered your order or not. I guess since you're billed separately for the tip, that still gets taken out of your account after an order has been canceled. Regarding a previous small delivery order that never showed up and got canceled, I called and asked why I was deducted $8 from my bank towards the Walmart driver tip 3 days after the order was canceled, but they were clueless and kept insisting that the order was canceled. I kept saying I know that, but the delivery part didn't get canceled and I was charged today! We went back and forth and I got nowhere so I gave up. I wonder how many other people this happened to.

Last month I placed an order and it said the order was delayed( Walmart language your not getting it)I never received the order and of course when you call the store no one answers the phone, next step call corporate, just as bad as the delivery service, they don't care, I wanted my membership money back because they screwed up so much I didn't want to use them again, now you figure for a lousy $98.00 they wouldn't argue, it's Walmart I should have know, I was given a $20 credit towards my next order no refund. I spoke to someone at corporate who assured me it wouldn't happen again. I place a $129.00 order for the holiday weekend on Wednesday for Friday. I'm waiting for my 2:00-3:00pn delivery. I look at my email and it says your groceries have been delivered at 2:06 and guess what it's 2:30 and there are no groceries on my porch. I call Walmart well suprise no answer so you go to the order and ask for help. I got help, you'll hear from our representatives within 24 hrs. I don't need the groceries I ordered for the Holiday weekend in 24hrs I need them today, now I have to go out to the stores when they are packed because of the Holiday weekend and scramble around for the items I had ordered. The picture these groceries were delivered were not my house then they send me an email saying you can dispose of anything your not going to use. I DONT HAVE THE GROCERIES. I WANT MY MEMBERSHIP FEE BACK AND WALMART WILL NEVER SEE OR HEAR FROM ME AGAIN!

Awful delivery service
October 14, 2021

I use to order products from Walmart to be delivered by FedEx/UPS/USPS/Ontrac. Rarely had any issues. At some point this year, they switched me to same day delivery by local drivers. A service I don't want and I hate! There is no way to opt out of it and get normal shipping.

I have had 3 bad experiences and I have complained to Walmart corporate about it 3 times now. The latest was last night. My order of 6 items was divided into 3 parts with 3 different drivers. How inefficient is that? The app can only handle tracking one driver at a time, so I have no idea when the other 2 drivers are supposed to arrive. I have to wait around at my house for 3 people to arrive over the span of 4 hours because porch pirates are rampant around here. The app gives me wrong delivery time estimates all the time. They usually arrive 1-2 hours late. 1st part comes, 2 of the items are missing. I have to get on chat support for a refund. 2nd part comes, what is delivered is actually the part 3 order, but part 2 is marked as delivered, and the item is missing, so I have to get on support chat again for another refund! 3rd part of the order is never sent a tracking number but gets marked as delivered. So on an order of 6 items, I only received 3 of them. Now today I have to go to a store to get the missing items, which totally negates why I use online ordering in the first place.

On top of that, I was charged a "beverage container fee". Well the beverages weren't delivered in any kind of container, they were just dumped on my doormat, so that whole fee thing is a rip-off. The whole experience was stressful, infuriating, and a huge waste of my time. Unless Walmart gives me a way to opt-out of this service, I am going to stop using them and shop at Target instead.

What to do?
March 22, 2023

I am a senior woman with emphysema and so I have found having groceries delivered to
My house or ordered for pick up very helpful. They are on time and polite. There have been
Mistakes but that is to be expected and it is not often. For the majority of time that I have
Been a member I was allowed substitutions meaning that if they were out of something
They would let me know what they were going to send in its place and I could decide if
I wanted it or nothing at all. Suddenly they stopped allowing me to do it. After three calls to
The store grocery dept. and four or five calls to the main no. I still have not found anyone that
Can fix it. On the third try to the main no. They said they would tell a technician about it and
The tech would call me back. I never heard from them. I called them back and they gave me
The no. For the tech and that no. Took me right back to the same place again. They came to
The conclusion that it is because I started useing my humana insurance bennnefit and that was
What the problem was. That is not the problem because it started long before I started useing
That card. The other day they couldnt find a yogurt that I wanted so I went to the store for a
Pick up of everything else but then I had to make a special trip inside the store to get one
Thing because my substitution option is gone. When Walmart doesn't make an effort to substitute something they don't have and give me an alternative product to buy
They are losing money as well as customers. I find it hard to believe that a big company like
Walmart cannot fix this. Is it that difficult? Why can't a manager step up and say the customer
Wants substitutions. I love this company, and how easy they are to deal with in every way but
On this matter I am genuinely disappointed and don't know what to do? Try Smiths?

WALMART DON'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS DO THEY REALLY? I PLACED AN ONLINE ORDER & RESERVED A TIME FOR PICK-UP. THERE WAS A DELAY & NO ONE NOTIFIED ME. I CALLED THE STORE TO BE TOLD THERE WASN'T ANYTHING IN THEIR SYSTEM WHEN I GAVE THEM THE ORDER NUMBER. THEN I WAS TOLD THERE WAS SUSPIOUS ACTIVITY ON MY CREDIT CARD & TO CONTACT WALMART.COM WHICH I DID. THE FIRST REP. I SPOKE TO DID NOT SPEAK CLEAR ENGLISH SO I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR & I WAS TOLD NO ONE WAS AVAILABLE. SO, I PHONED AGAIN & GOT ANOTHER REP. WHO DID NOT SPEAK CLEAR ENGLISH BUT DID TRY TO ADDRESS MY ISSUE. I WAS ON THE PHONE ABOUT 30 MINS, TRYING TO RESOLVE MY ISSUE. I ASKED AGAIN TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR & WAS SENT TO CORPORATE WHICH NO ONE ANSWERED THERE EITHER. FINALLY, THE REP. CONTACTED THE LOCAL STORE TO ASK THAT THE ORDER BE EXPEDITED & I WAS TOLD THE ORDER WOULD BE READY IN 30 MINS. I WILL HAVE TO WAIT & SEE IF THE REQUEST WAS FULFILLED. THIS HAS BEEN TOTALLY TIME CONSUMING & DISAPPOINTING TO ME. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT'S THE WAY CUSTOMERS ARE TREATED AT WALMART, AND TRYING TO GET ANYONE ON THE PHONES LOCALLY IS A JOKE. YOUR WHOLE DAY CAN BE RUINED JUST TRYING TO REACH ANYONE. BY THE WAY, IT'S HOURS LATER & THE ORDER WAS NOT FULFULLED. BEEN ON THE PHONE WITH THEM MOST OF THE DAY, NOW I'M FURIOUS!

With an overall rating of ONE star, you would think Walmart would be pushing to get this fixed. 7 months and still plagued with issues. Here is my breakdown:
Pros:
-Saves time going to the store, waiting in line, loading, driving, etc...

Cons: (let me crack my knuckles for this exercise)
- They forget items, add wrong items, go to the wrong house to deliver, and/or completely just don't show up; 95% of the time you can count on one of these issues happening.
- Substitutions: Every single order I place (4-5 times per month), there are subs. You have a very short window to accept/reject, or they pick one for you (never know when you are going to get notified about a substitution food item, so I am always having to watch my phone to catch the email). I don't know who picks these subs, but if I order Ricotta Cheese, please don't sub Cottage Cheese. Or if I order cold brew unsweetened coffee, don't send me regular full sugar coffee. It defeats the purpose...
- I you are planning to make a recipe, you CANNOT count on them to deliver all of your items. Just wont work. Each delivery, I get at least 3-4 items that are "out of stock". This week, I received 3 different texts, over the course of 2 days, informing me that the items I requested to be delivered will need to be shipped (ordered on Nov 29, they will be here at the earliest December 6th). So much for trying a new recipe for my kids this weekend. I have now learned my lesson - I will always need to do a quick supplemental shopping after I order with Walmart delivery to complete my cooking for the week.
* I had to laugh - no lie, just received ANOTHER text with unavailable item - no garlic bread, no substitutions available... You mean in ALL of Walmart, you have NO garlic bread at all? So now the tally is 4 items that have to be shipped, 5 substitutions, some of my order will come today (fingers crossed), and the rest will come between today and Dec 6th... Great, love having my groceries come over the course of a week.
- What drives me NUTS, is why is it in your system if you dont have it in stock? Okay, I understand that quantities may be difficult to track... but why does it take you a full day and multiple messages to tell me it is out of stock? So its a guessing game if they actually have what you are looking at online in stock.
Bottom line is, they are far from having this work as advertised.

Horrible service, let me count the ways…
June 5, 2022

I am disabled and have no transportation or anyone that will take me to get groceries. My daughter and I rely on this to get groceries, household supplies and OTC medication. I pay a monthly service fee for groceries being delivered. There are constant issues that Walmart never addresses or compensates for.

1) The "out of stock" feature is NEVER accurate. I am lucky if I get 1/2 of my order. Things shown "in stock" are not.

2) Order cancellation - I have had multiple grocery orders cancelled with NO notification. For example, if I place an order to be delivered between 12-1 I notice it's 1:15 and no groceries. I go to my orders and check and it will be cancelled for no reason. Contacting customer support is a joke. They will give you 10 different cancellation excuses and offer no compensation in return. You never get same day delivery so you are stuck putting in another order and waiting for delivery availability.

3) Items wrong, damaged or expired - I get that humans make mistakes, I am fine with that. What I am not fine with is that when I need to be refunded for their human error, Walmart wants me to bring the wrong, damaged and expired items to the store for refund! I DON'T HAVE A WAY TO GET THERE! Thus the entire reason I use grocery delivery to begin with!

4) Tipping the delivery driver - I tip and I have no issue with it. What I do have an issue with is Walmart automatically adding a $10 tip to your grocery order. I didn't notice the first couple of times. On those occasions the drivers actually put my groceries in my yard and not on my porch. I bought a 40 pack of water that tore and they left the water bottles scattered across my yard never even bothering to pick them up! I prefer to wait to tip them for good service as you have 24 hours after completed grocery delivery.

I could go on and on but you get my point. There are other, more reliable grocery delivery services. Ones that will delivery within a two hour window. Ones that actually text you to ask what substitutes you want while they are still in the grocery store. Ones that actually value their customers. Unfortunately they increase their prices on every item MASSIVELY! I cannot afford these services because I support myself and my daughter on meager social security disability.

If you can avoid using Walmart grocery delivery, that is my recommendation.
