“Second time around is not the charm”

When I first used this service, it worked seamlessly. The second time through, it failed miserably. The server was either too slow or non-responsive. And there is no way to contact a real person by phone or chat. All you can do is file a trouble ticket and sulk. They need to dedicate more resources on web servers and real people to support customers from all over the country.

I had to use ID. Me because I could not use the other log on due to expired access code... So I began the process, frustrating as it was, I feel more secure on this log in!
Just beware that when you are uploading your documents, like ID's... Make sure you crop the photo of them to the size of the ID before you attempted uploading... I tried 2 times with failure (not knowing what was wrong) then cropped the photo of ID's and the front and back went thru slow but fine! Be patient, the process is slow but I think it will be worth it! BTW, I did this all on my cell phone... Maybe that contributed to the slowness, but if I can do it anyone can!

The compute I was using did not have a camera, and I was not prepared with my original password when I needed it. The process to change password was made extremely easy and pleasant by the agent that sent me the link to my phone allowing him to complete his ID.me procedure. He was extremely helpful and the procedure did the necessary steps to authenticate me by also sending various codes. Try it you will be very pleased.

Wasted time taking pictures, front and back of 2 documents uploading them and then still needing video call to verify. Whats the point of uploading if they are not used? Then to take a survey to tell them it was a big waste of time as I could not get into the NJ dept of Taxation by using the app.

It can be challenging in any online navigation process. Reading the directions is vital to completing the process and observing how efficient this application can be in the future. The results is the key and how I communicated my concerns. I must admit, I wanted to completed the process at the first attempt. Remembering I can only control what is allowed and finding humor in recognizing I was getting a little frustrated. I was able to log onto the IRS website easily in the past few years, but now am forced to use ID.ME, a random for profit company to log in. They make me do some selfie with my laptop and then complain my room is too bright. Once I pass their invasive test, then they send me to the IRS page with an error. Why are American tax dollars funding this crappy service?

1. I had my forms of ID ready before I began the process. In my case, I used my state-issued driver license and my Medicare card
2. I had enabled the ID.me website to have access to my camera using my Safari settings.

They used Sam's Club logos. I believed they were part of Sam's process. Wrong. I could not use the discount they offered and gave up a ton of personal information for no good reason. I feel like an idiot.

Tried 5 times to simply register using this application. Had to reenter information at least 4 times in all areas. If you don't enter the information correctly (what is expected, although the application is so bad that you never know for sure what information is correct for any question), you're either told to repeat, repeatedly, are kicked off, or find that you've gone through the whole process just to find out that none of it registered, and you have to do it all over again. My opinion is that if you don't HAVE to use this, don't. Go another route if you can.

Waited an hour and a half to speak with someone the first one hung up on me then waited 30 more mins to speak with someone and this one was rude af simply bc he couldn't see very well since I was on a phone. Then I asked to speak with a manager to let someone know about their horrible employees and I was told to choose between finalizing my verification and speaking with a supervisor bc he cannot do 2 things at once. I typically don't do surveys or reviews but with the awful experience I had I sure as hell am doing every review or survey sent to me.

Round and round and round. Their website needs alot of clarification as to what we need to provide, an entire afternoon spent messing around with documentation etc. which was totally unnecessary. I'm glad they're paid because I'm not! The web agent was professional but not friendly at all. Perhaps we in the UK are used to agents who might crack a smile or say something personal which is really relaxing for the individual on the video call.

Their video selfie process is at the end of the verification process, and continually crashes. Do all the steps just as they say, but it will still say "Something went wrong" with a Try Again button under it. The Try Again button does not even work and in order to retry, you have to go through all the other steps again, just for it to crash again. I had tried 10+ times over the course of multiple months using different devices, until it finally worked.

Advised by the SSA to get verified by ID.me.
Went through the process, which was flawed by SMS failure of their system.
Added NOTHING to my ease of access to my SSA account as was promised.
Decided to investigate. Website failed testing by Burp Javascript Scanner.
Searched for"ID.me scandals"
Searched for "Blake Hall government connections".
Read ID.me Wikipedia article.
Made me wonder who's their benefactor in a grossly corrupt govermnment

I'm a retired large scale computing system engineer who planned, installed and maintained
Systems for various companies. Blue Cross, State Farm, AT & T, Time to name just 4.

This is a free service, except the portion of my taxes used to buy this crud.
Tried to ad proof of my ID.me application being completedwith a screen shot but this site said 100% then did nothing.

Tip for consumers:
Their multiple investigations by the US Senate and other scandal and the Biden/Harris admin STILL gave them more contracts. I'd say that's unbelievable but I've seen the corruption of the Federal gov grow exponentialy over the past 50+ years.
Demicans or Republicrats, all should be removed to prison in Death Valley without amenities.

I spent about 30 minutes doing everything I was supposed to. Received the green confirmation check mark that my ID was verified by ID.me. I cannot continue the next steps of the process because every time I log in, it says "returning to the verification portal" then times out. I cannot get past this time-out. I attempted to request help online and received a useless bot email. The bot said to respond to it's email and a person would reach out. I did, I haven't received help from anyone. No number to call. No direct way to receive help for your software not working.

This is not quicker. This takes a long time I had to fill out the information scan the front and back of my drivers license. Then scan my Social Security card. Then do a facial recognition. And still had to schedule a video call. I was on hold for over 20 minutes. The agent was great! And was able to verify my ID quickly with the same ID and Social Security card that I had scanned in.

If the ID.me set up process is started on a desktop, make sure there is a camera to take photos of the documents and the person setting up the ID.me. A laptop may be easier. A cell phone is too small.
At least I know my credentials are secure in the end.

Was able to upload copies of required documents easily and complete the needed video recording on my smart phone without issues. Subsequently used ID.me to access my IRS portal and public health insurance pages. Having gone through it once meant not having to complete most of the process again (had to do the video recording again, but it went quickly since it literally took seconds to finish). The directions provided at each step were intuitive and user friendly.
