Fairly seamless, although would appreciate more instruction on process. After completion, I could not enter the IRS account to pay my tax bill, resorted to old-school mail... then 2 days later, saw that I now have access...
When I first used this service, it worked seamlessly. The second time through, it failed miserably. The server was either too slow or non-responsive. And there is no way to contact a real person by phone or chat. All you can do is file a trouble ticket and sulk. They need to dedicate more resources on web servers and real people to support customers from all over the country.
It took a while I had to start over a couple of times. The hardest part was figuring out how to use the camera on my smart phone coupled with the browser on my smart phone. Not 30 something anymore and never had to use this stuff.

At first I thought that this would be a long process but to be honest, it only took me a few minutes to complete and I am very satisfied with the process. Very easy to read and understand what information is needed for each question.

I have used this application for a number of years for various accounts. It is easy to use and accepted by various government accounts. Starting in 2025 you will need to use an alternative method to access your VA healthy vet account. This is an easy system to use.

I have tried to get verified through This company but have not received any information back. So I'm going to give it a one star right now and I'll wait and see if they ever get back to me and I'll change it then because that's the only problem I have no response.

The problem with i.d. me is the response time when you encounter a problem. It takes longer than a week. I tried to change password and reached out to the support with no success in completion of logging into government site because of duplicate account. I couldn't recall nor get into original email. Hence, I created a id.me and experienced the duplicate account

Was told that I would get an email after being "successfully" verified., what if an old email address or compromised email was on file? It's not like I could change that… why would you not ask me to give you an email address or simply confirm it and it if didn't match ask me to provide further documentation to support? Garbage company don't recommend

I chose to give 5 stars for 2 reasons.
1. The ease of access & use.
2. The over the top performance of the ID.Me referee...
In closing it's an amazing tool to have in your tool box & 100% worth using...

A reasonably extrapolated form of ID.me is worse than having Troopers show up at my door every day, point their guns at me, and then decide whether or not they want to pull the trigger that day. At least with state troopers, over time I would get to know my would-be executioners. There's just too many completely obfuscated ways for this info gathering, warehousing, analysis, and retention to go wrong via corruption and human nature, whether that be in a disgruntled employee, a malfeasant board member, a blackmailing mob boss, opportunistic hackers, psychologically manipulative scammers, hostile nations, corporate terrorists, or the criminals in all sides of State and Federal government.

The login information I entered was rejected and deemed incorrect every time I entered it.
I am 81 years of age. I have had my SS# since age 16 and I have lived at the same address since 1989 and have used computers since 1980. This information was continually rejected. I hold an Idaho Star Card which is proof the information on the bar codes on the back of my CDL are correct. I presented proof with the numerous documents required to obtain the card. Why is my Social required to identify me when on the face of that card is printed "Not to be used for identification purposes?

This site is asking for tons of personal info including biometric. They keep it for 3 years and maybe they delete it, maybe they don't. One day they will get hacked (like all companies have been lately), and all your bio data will be out there. But don't worry, you will get $20 from the settlement...

If you don't want your picture and personal information being taken, stored and used, don't use id.me. The process was easy but was very concerning they want photos of IDs and live pictures and scanning your face.

The process requires time and patience to achieve. You will need some technical competency, your binders with information at your side and have the soft/hardware to turn paper documents into a digital form. Set off a block to time and then start the process.

I mean I am trying to access the IRS website and this is the vetting process. It was seamless and easy to navigate. I only hope it translates to the next experience logging in th the IRS site. Great program. Please don't audit me!lol

I used ID.me today to create my new IRS login. I had been putting it off because I figured it was going to be difficult to do. I was absolutely wrong. It's extremely easy and when they required the uploads they sent a link to my phone so I could do it from there. If you're hesitating to use it, don't. It only takes a few minutes.

My first time ever to apply for unemployment and it was nerve wrecking. When I went to office to apply for unemployment, they took the people from my company that were there all to a classroom with only two helpers. I was there an hour and a half.

I had a problem with my id.me account which I tried for almost a year to recover. One video call directly with an agent from id.me quickly cleared my problem. I would definitely recommend going directly to id.me if you have any issues with your identity.

I hated everything about this. Sure, I have privacy concerns but that wasn't the biggest fail. The video selfie thing didn't work. It took over 10 attempts to get it to work. There is no alternative that's acceptable. I refuse to sit in a waiting room to video call with someone either. This was stupid. Bring back login.gov!

In today's society, thuganotz roam freely searching for a nonaware mark! Get with the program, or get taken to the cleaners!
I like ID.Me, but the best perk of all with them is when you're signing in…. "It's one and done!"

Third party company needs to be in front of the company that they're working for especially if this is a identity ID me process that everybody needs to join together get together know what each other's doing to secure their jobs

It only took a couple of minutes. There was too much light for my selfie the first try (I got a message letting me know). Turned off the light switch and took it again with no issues. It was like I had someone right next to me giving me step by step instructions. I never left my office.

It seems, at least to me, ID.me is more interested in gathering endless Personal information and data, than providing serious internet security and protection. They just keep asking for more and more? Is all this data collection really necessary? Are they using it to protect us? What are they really using it for? How safe is all this data we are giving to them?

I'd.me is super easy to sign up for and takes only minutes to get you verified. Once verified there are tons of retailers and others who offer deep discounts for their products. You owe it to yourself to get verified today

To me, it's very difficult to navigate through there website. Everything is buried in it. And every time I click on anything, I have to sign in again and wait for the system to send me a code. I hate it.
Date of experience: November 26, 2024
Used it for the first time, with some trepidation, not sure how reliable it is (especially with sensitive documentations) and doubting if it is user friendly.
Even I cross- checked with another Govt. Agency, who assured the usefulness and also trust worthy-ness. All this without the usual sterness of a Govt. Business and simple and straightforward interface/ web page and prompt follow through.

Needed to access my health but site is changing sign in format. Couldn't do it by myself so went to VA CBOC in my city. Lady assisted me, process was fairly easy not complicated at all. Pleased to now be able to access easily. Now that I'm identified.

ID.me simplifies how individuals prove and share their identity online. The ID.me secure digital identity network has over 98 million members, as well as partnerships with 30 states, 10 federal agencies, and over 500 name-brand retailers.
The company provides identity proofing, authentication and community verification for organizations across sectors. The company's technology meets the federal standards for consumer authentication and is approved as a NIST 800-63-3 IAL2 / AAL2 conformant credential service provider by the Kantara Initiative. ID.me's Identity Gateway also has a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate Authority to Operate (ATO). ID.me is the only provider with video chat and is committed to "No Identity Left Behind" to enable all people to have a secure digital identity.
Identity touches all sectors of the economy. But revealing the information that identifies us can be risky. At ID.me, we’ve changed this paradigm.
It began when ID.me’s CEO and founder Blake Hall, a decorated Army Ranger, watched a military veteran display their DD214 separation paperwork to a store employee to claim a military discount. The document held far more information than was needed to verify military service. Exposing so much personal information for a single benefit was risky and unnecessary. There had to be a better way.
We set out with the mission to make community verification easier and more secure. We began with the military community, but quickly grew to include students, teachers, nurses, first responders, and government employees.
We built partnerships with hundreds of retailers and expanded into regulated sectors like government, healthcare, and financial services with legal identity verification for high-risk transactions.
Today, we’re building a digital identity network where users verify their identity once, and never have to re-verify their identity again across any organization where ID.me is accepted. It’s just like the driver's license in the physical world. Once you’re verified, proof of your identity goes with you everywhere.
