Instacart offers a convenient grocery delivery service, allowing me to shop from my favorite stores without leaving home. Whether I need fresh produce, pantry staples, or specialty items, Instacart delivers everything I need with reliable service and fast delivery. I appreciate the flexibility of scheduling delivery windows and the option to communicate with my shopper in real-time. Instacart has become a lifesaver, especially during busy weeks
I had to wait on hold for 35 minutes before the problem with my order was addressed. The shopper delivered someone else's order. I'm not upset about that - nobody is perfect. What is outrageous to me is the time I had to spend on-hold waiting for a person in the "delivery mistakes" deptartment to get on the line. The person who answered my call was not allowed to take care of the problem, whether rescheduled delivery or refund, so I had to be punished with a long wait on the phone. When the wrong order delivered person finally got on the line, they rescheduled my delivery for tomorrow and promised some discounts or free delivery or something else because I had a hard time understanding what she was saying. For all the money I spend in a year with Instacart, I would expect far better customer service than this!
I will never use Instacart again! They have employees that say they delivered your order when they didn't! I have cameras! No delivery came to my house! Dishonest and poor customer service! This was my first and last experience with Instacart! Save yourself the aggravation! My shopper said my order was delivered at 7:03, the app at 8:13 said it was STILL out for delivery! The time kept moving up! I finally cancelled the order when I received a message that my order would be delivered at 11:30 pm!
I not going to explain the problems that I had with instacart. Read the other reviews. I am will contact my credit card company and describe to them. My credit card company is savvy. They have found problems with companies before I realized that there were problems. It will be interesting to hear what they do or know. I will assume instacart presently has some credibility as my card did allow them to put charges on it.
Tip for consumers:
I don't know what to say. I won't be using insta-cart again.

They got about half of the groceries correct. So I will be eating them.
In spite of all the negative reviews, I have to say that my recent experience was excellent. My order was placed, shopped and received within 3 hours. The store was out of some items, mainly produce, and the shopper refunded all. He also replaced a few items, after texting me for my approval. My delivery instructions were followed exactly, and the shopper was very polite in his communications. The service is worth the slightly additional cost, and I will use them again
The company does not give you their grocery receipt because they up the charges. I accidentally got the receipt and it was 15.00 more than what they charged. On top of this they charge a 3.99 delivery fee plus a 5% service fee plus a 5% tip fee. My groceries ended up costing me over 20 in fees. Have not been able to get through to customer service. Phone won't take calls. Emails not answered. Avoid this company. They are a nightmare.
Today was my first time to do order groceries to be delivered at home. The original order was for $36+ and i was billed $52.06! Come on! I was never informed about the replacements and the hidden fee until the stuff were all delivered! It says free delivery on first order but they actually put you automatically on a 14-day free trial after which you will be charged with an annual membership fee of $149.00. I cancelled my account today too after all this crap. Instacart, you guys are not honest with your business so i don't think you will last long.
Half of my items were swapped stating "out of stock" I called the store and they were IN STOCK. Food was warm when delivered, even the refrigerated items. Only received a &20 credit for my troubles, still had to give away (many had nuts! Have a fatal nut allergy at home) or throw out food (spoiled due to heat). Never again, back to Pea Pod I go.
I have been using instacart for the past couple of months and for the most part the shoppers were really nice and did a great job. The problem is with Instacart's policies. They no longer allow you to waive the service fee, so on top of the monthly/yearly subscription fee I have been paying about an additional $6 per order in service fees. I also discovered on my last order that the total the shopper paid at Ralphs, using their ralphs card, was $115 for my order. However the online total was $121, which is what I was charged, plus the $6 service fee. The customer service person said they do not honor store card discounts, coupons or promotions. So they basically stole from me and profited an extra $6 on top of everything else. As much as I love the convenience of someone delivering my groceries, I will be cancelling my service, this is simply not an acceptable practice!
Instacart charges an insane markup on the groceries purchased from my local Wegman's compared to the prices in store which averaged about 25% on my order. This is in addition to the already hefty fees and suggested tip. To add insult to injury, they have the audacity to tack on an additional "tax" for which no representative I spoke to when I called to complain could articulate what it was based on (there is no sales tax on groceries in PA and it is very unclear what amount they are charging the "service"). All told I ended up paying $150 for an order that would have cost me $107 to purchase directly in the store.
Don't do business with Instacart! I am a handicapped individual who lives in a garage apt. The last driver refused to deliver my groceries because "I lived in a barn" I don't live in a barn its a garage apt. And it kinda nice really. But the garage is shaped like a barn on a nice looking homestead brick home. She didn't know me at all but decided to insult me in the worst way and Instacart support would only call it an "inconvenience" I am furious, Its not first time their drivers have done a poor job and their support is atrocious. I'm done with them.
Tip for consumers:
Don't leave a big tip for the driver until your transaction is complete.

I canceled the eitire order
I purchased for the first time on Instacart and got charged over $89.05 for $63 worth of groceries. I asked customer service for a refund and instead received ONLY $15 worth of store credit towards a future purchase. Furthermore, the total amount that as charged to my credit card ended up being $90. Instacart feels like a complete scam. I will never recommend it to anyone nor will I ever be using it again myself.
They told me they were coming. It's good Friday tomorrow and they didn't show up three times. They didn't even care to message me. They offer a credit but I'm not using their services again. Three times they don't come isn't acceptable. All other companies will thrive here, great concept but bad company. Save your money and the stress don't order from them
I have never experienced such bad service, charged for items never delivered, delivery late.
Customer service does not exist.
Asked Fairfield County government to warn residents of the slew of problems every customer will likely face.
They stated, "we receive complaints on a daily basis, and are preparing a press release to warn county residents of the possible risks of using this service."
On a $91 cash register bill, Instacart adds $14-$15 more dollars onto their subtotal, by inflating the prices of the items you see on your internet bill. Then they add on a $7.95 "service" charge on top of that.
Calling Instacart they say that they posted that they inflate store charges on their site and so it's legal. They say they don't need to do anything else. Tough luck if you didn't read it.
Tip for consumers:
Read, read, read! Read the Instacart Information first. Instacart is making out like a bandit, adding $14-$15 more to store items. Store receipt subtotal and Instacart subtotal different. That's before they add their "service" charge.
The man who was getting my groceries was non responsive and then brought me the wrong groceries, one of which was mushy avocados that had gone bad. I called Instacart to go get my money back and was waiting for over 2 hours to speak with them, only to have them disconnect the line before I could speak with anyone.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away

Well, gave in to pressure from my family to not go to the grocery store and it has NOT been a good experience. Ordered quite a lot from Costco, expensive olive oil, cheeses, etc. They delivered someone else's order and of course you can't contact the actual driver. Gave a bad review on their website and indicated all the items that I did not get. Also started a live chat, which is a joke because it's been 4 hours and I still have not gotten a response. Got the typical automated email response from the reported problem and and have not heard back from that either. Tried calling and the message I got was that they are not answering calls! Guess I'll have to contact my credit card company and have them dispute the charge. I guess the good news is that somebody got a really great deal on a bunch of expensive food when they received my order!
Instacart took $95 from account and the total cost of the order with a $10 tip should've only been $57.09. Efforts to contact anyone to get this corrected have been unsuccessful for two days. The customer service number has a voice message stating that it's unavailable and any links to assistance only lead you back to their service page to order more groceries. This company is a disgrace.
My first instacart delivery was excellent and my second instacart was terrible. I don't have confidence in their support a they don't really care about what they're buying for you and as an elderly person with special needs, I need what I say I want. There are no guarantees with Instacart, you may get a good shopper and then again you may get one who doesn't give a care. I don't trust them, and I'm over a barrel because I cannot shop on my own with spinal stenosis. I miss Peapod who instacart forced to leave Illinois. :(
The support when the delivery gets messed up is So BAD! Don't use these guys. They keep double the amount of your grocery order charged to your card while you dispute a missing item! That can me low balance issues with your account while they hold your money.
I was excited to see that Publix was bringing back delivery... but their partner in this endeavor is not up to par. There was about a 20% mark up on many of the items I ordered. Additionally, I had an introductory promo code for free delivery, but was still charged a 10% delivery fee and given tip guidelines (10,15 or 20 %). Overall, I paid $35 more (on an order of $85) than I would have paid had I shopped at the store. I won't do this again.
I used instacart once because I was told I would get a free delivery. My total was only $61. Well, instacart charges $80 (sort of like a hold on your account) to make sure the grocery bill goes through. They told me the $20 would be refunded right away, as soon as the shopper was finished. It has been well over a WEEK now and that $80 charge on my account is still there! I have been on and off the phone with customer service. No one will help me. They continue to tell me it will take 3-5 business days for the payment to be reversed. I would highly recommend NEVER using this worthless service. Terrible customer service. Scams.
They are a startup who already could care less about their employees. The pay set is an insult to the drivers. The Star rating is set up to make drivers fail. The price mark up for groceries is so high that customers THINK that the drivers are making WAY more than they are. It takes 43 hours a week most of the time to clear $9 an hour after gas, insurance, and maintenance of your car. They ALWAYS side with the customer even when the customer is breaking the law, or putting the driver in danger. Impossible to move from driver up the company... so low ceiling. Unreasonable expectations regarding routes, and times.
My card was charged a $149.00 yearly service fee completely out of the blue, with no prior notice of any kind. Fortunately dealing with customer service was OK, and they said they would reverse the charge.
The next morning I see my card was charged $14.99 from Instacart before the refund they've supposedly issued has hit my account. I can't even remove my payment information on the site to avoid being charged more because of this.
Not to mention, the service was sub-par half the time anyways.
For the second time in my 3 months of using instacart they have way overcharged me and delivered nothing. Even worse I can't get anyone to respond to my inquiries, so I am left calling my bank to secure my money. I ordered 38 dollars of groceries got no groceries and my account was charged 238 dollars. I also shopped for instacart and I know there is no communication with shoppers they leave shoppers hanging. Just an all around bad company.

Delivery and was overcharged and recieved nothing!
Don't order eggs. Evidently the shoppers don't checked for cracked eggs. Ad says prices are same as store prices. Not true. When I asked why I'm being charged more than what the receipt shows, they admitted there is a markup on store prices. Instead of offering me a refund for items I did not receive but was charged for, they gave me a credit for future purchases which does me no good because I don't plan on using this service again.
I am generally a relaxed, understanding and compliant person who rarely complains, but my experience with Instacart has left me fuming. I am partially disabled and house bound, so I have to rely on others. My first experience with Instacart was good. Prompt, efficient and courteous. Total mark up was about 15% with all the hidden fees. Second time the mark up above store price was about 18%. It was steep but acceptable. Then when they thought they had me hooked the mark up jumped to a whopping 50%. The store receipt was $59 and Instacart charged me $89. That is nothing short of price gouging and of taking cruel advantage of an elderly house bound person. My polite query was answered by a form letter. I am warning all my friends and contacts to stay away from Instacart.
