I have been with Listia since February 2010 so a long time! When I first learned about the site I thought the idea was genius. I still think it is. You offer your stuff up (used or new etc) to gain their "points" and when you have accumulated enough points you can use them to bid on things you want. It appears that they keep things afloat with ad revenue I presume and the team seems to work hard at trying to improve the site. There are always going to be people in this world that will try to scam others so remember the old adage. If it looks too good to be true it probably is. Check people's feedback and reliability before bidding. Are they listing a brand new iPhone with no feedback? Yeah maybe don't bid on that unless you like headaches. xD I believe I use the site for what it is meant to be used for. Listing used things and trading them in for small possibly used things in return. If you want some premium item like a brand new gadget, or ebay gift card or very useful items clearly being dropshipped from Amazon you're going to end up paying more than they are worth because people are trying to profit. Also if you are wondering why people list a good bit of useless or overpriced items it's because the site encourages creating 5 listings a day for 25 free points. 5 points is 1 cent so it's only 5 cents a day but hey some people list things like vinyl stickers for 99 points so I suppose in 4 days you could get a completely free item from creating listings that end and never sell. This brings me to the issue of inflation. All those free points being given out daily can cause some inflation. However it does seem like inflation has finally stabilized on the site and the people managing the site claim they combat inflation by using some of their revenue from ads to pay for the auctions they host like more Amazon gift cards. Also the points Listia gets from their auctions plus all their final value fees are used to payout all those free point incentives they give away for listing items and referring others. You can list items completely free without paying any final value fees if you start the auction at 99 points and offer free shipping. Most of the complaints I've seen about Listia seem to stem from deals gone wrong or people that don't understand that you can't shove lumpy stuff (bracelets, belly rings, fat seeds, a clump of fat paper punches all in one spot) in an envelope and expect normal first class letter service (sometimes it makes it through but many times it does not or gets badly mangled). This site is basically a big garage sale and you will see people listing both trash and treasure. I personally use it for small flat items like stickers, used postage stamps, craft supplies/scrapbooking paper and the handmade stuff is fun to look at. There really is so much stuff to bid on honestly if you know where to look. It's a fun way to pass the time. No cash is involved either so no taxes which is a nice headache free way to declutter. :D
Listia scammed me after 3 years of use.
I signed up on Listia around August 2011. Amassing over 465 logins (465 days).
Today I wake up to the news of my account being suspended. Without any reasoning as to why.
I have 151 Feedback, most of them being positive, excluding the few that were noobs and were trying to scam me and get their credits back even though they got their prize.
Before being banned, I had about 71,000 credits built up from selling my old PS3 games. I planned on saving those credits in order to get a $75 or $100 amazon card.
Upon reading their email indicating I was suspended, they did not cite the reasoning behind their suspension. This leads me to believe they are full of $#*!. I have been legitimately using their website since signing up in 2011.
I only ran into a few issues with Admins/Moderators because of mistakenly categorizing some listings or just putting up an auction I didn't know wasn't permitted. Outside of that, I did nothing to further the suspension of my account.
This leads me to believe that Listia is using the Ban hammer just for the $#*! of it.
I have contacted them via support ticket with no answer.
I advise everyone to stay away from this website. It has been nothing but problems for me. All they do is try to limit their website, making it as $#*!ty as possible. Then they do stuff like this which leads me to to conclude that their 'support team' are underpaid morons who make a living off of scamming those who don't know better.
Stay away from these people.
Ok, So I have been using Listia for 16 days now. YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL on this site. If I had to describe it, It's like the gangland / crack house of auction sites. Everyone who says bottom of barrel is dead on. It's scary even being on it. I have run into some very suspicious activity where I am absolutely certain it's criminal activity. I have seen brand new (expensive pieces and tons I mean tons of it from a single auctioneer) listed and bidders are bidding on it paying outrageous prices in shipping fees. I am certain that this is theft traded online. Listia has a rule policy that lists a max ship price on certain items. A LOT of auctioneers are way over the ship policy. There is no good way to report violations and real violators get ignored and aren't held to standards. It's a funny place to be, on one hand you want to go and post stuff because you can and people bid on it like swarms of zombie eating their fresh kill. On the other hand, you almost have this weird anxiety that someone is going to phish your computer information and you will win an auction from someone who will extort money from you and then tie you up and torture you. I say, be careful. If you have a red flag? Go with your gut. It's probably absolutely right. TIP: If you are an auctioneer, go ahead and list your costs for shipping and provide pick up as an option (recommendation, do the swap in a public location - try to avoid the shadiness) this way you wont feel like you are paying someone to take your stuff. Stay Legit, make sure if you post ship fees its because you are recovering the cost, not trying to cash profit. Good luck! PS- I am in love with the barter concept for points. But I did do the dollar per point value conversion and came up with an approx. Figure that about every 400 points is worth a dollar. This might help you if you are going after gift cards. So far I have found that I have spent way too much in free shipping fees which is why I urge you to post and re-coop your costs. I would also like to mention, that I have in fact met some very honest and lovely people. Just be careful, be instinctual.
In one weeks time first my account was banned, then today my husbands account was banned. Listia informed me that my account which had almost 20,000 credits told me I had violated their rules by having two people in the same household using the same computer on Listia. No where in there rules did it say that until after I pitched a fit then it magically appeared in their rules. I know several couples on Listia that share a computer that still have active accounts. Not account cancelled with no warning I lost out on money due to the shipping costs that I covered and received no compensation. All of my credits were taken away without any notice and my account banned. Then today I was notified that my husbands account was banned. The reason they gave was at first "funneling of credits" when I responded to this accusation asking how they then told me "It appears the account in question received a permanent account suspension due to the transferring of credits between accounts connected to yours. This violates our rules on accumulating credits fraudulently or unfairly." I have a pretty good idea what they are implying here, which is my mother in law also has an account with Listia. When my husband still lived in Texas he did an auction with her as a local pick up. This was back in August. Her account today was suspended. She has been an active Listian since Dec 27,2013 with 100% positive feedback. Ok Listia Tom can you fix this? My husband had almost 30,000 credits due to numerous surveys being done. He wants to be able to use his credits and if not then we should get reimbursement for the shipping of our completed auctions as well as the special offers we completed to gain credits that we paid with our cash to get. I can provide receipts from tracking for every single one.
Don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch! Sure there are some fraudulent or down right rude sellers, but that's ANY site you go on!
With their policy, it's easy to win back credits if they were lost because of seller not following through. Likewise if you have a problem with a winner, they hear your side of the story. The Moderators and Administrators are very knowledgeable of the policies and their customer service is GREAT! There are people on here complaining about suspeneded accounts and credits being revoked---it's simple READ THE RULES and FOLLOW THEM.
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT. They are super fast and helpful when you need them! If you would just utilize them you would not have suspended accounts.
Also, people need to realize that with the amount of auctions to staff ratio, there are some that slip through the cracks that shouldn't that happens. Read the rules, play nice, make friends, ask questions when you need to, and if you want to be negative don't blame a company for someone's elses deeds!
I do not like this new system, how does it work and how do you con vert ink to credits to get things. It is too confusing.
It's been a few years since I've used Listia- but the way they did things and what I lost still keeps me up at nights. I had used the site for years and actually really loved it. Right around the time I started a new job, I had a bunch of auctions end. I had a hard time making it to the post office to ship some of the items and so I sent messages to the winners to please file a dispute so I could refund their credits. All but 1 did and left me a 5 star review still. 1 customer left a 1 star review and based on that Listia completely shut down my account with no warning or option to tell my side or anything. I couldn't even log in to attempt to contact customer service. I found out while I was literally sitting in the post office parking lot after I had just shipped several items and tried to log in to update the tracking numbers. So about 6 things I had just shipped -which cost me money- GONE. My points I had been saving (over 1 million)- GONE. One of the things that I had auctioned was a 1960 Barbie doll (sold for 1 million credits) and I got Nothing for it in the end. It still keeps me up at nights as I watch the value for the Barbie go up over the years. So, basically- I paid to lose my brand new, quality, valuable items. Listias excuse why this was ok? Because there was never any real money involved. Only credits, which Listia owned. WTH? Of course, there was money involved. Those credits had a monetary value no matter what they claim. If I could buy them with cash, then they have value. Want to close down my account, fine. Whatever. I'll live. But to keep the credits I earned from Selling my stuff- regardless of the 'currency' with no option to even hurry up and spend them or maybe cash them out or anything was the lowest, most shady thing I have ever experienced. It's stealing. I hope all those f***ers lose everything.
I love listia, I had to quitworking to raise my grnadson who is now 3. Through listia I have found a way to get the extras that are fun to have. I have also used it to stock up and get things to help me start my own business. Through listia i also found a few good survey sites which have helped alot giving me extra money...
Down below I see a lady comlaining about people saying they never received there items and kept sending them out. I have had several cases where I didnt get my items. Alot of those were people that I had to pay the shipping on and they were the ones doing the rip offs. I literally had to go thru paypal and file a dispute but Ialwaays got my money back after a fight... but hey I got it back and dont hold it against everybody for a few bad apples... There has also been a few other bad cases but for the most part it has always turned out for the good... But I have never claimed not to get something when I did. I am a true believer in Karma... So really what I want to say is... Thank you listia for giving me a way to have all my little goodies and thank you to all the awesome sellers for providing these auctions... You cant blame everybody for the few that are scammers rather there the sellers or the buyers because it really is a 2 way street. Figure out the good from the bad
Hi Beth A.,

Was good to begin, but customer service is lacking. Have someone that is harassing me and customer service will not let me fill out a ticket.
Hi Edward,
We're sorry to hear you are unhappy with our service. If another user is harassing you, we definitely would like to know about it. Please go ahead and submit a support ticket letting us know the user and the harassing message. Thank you.
They asked me to verify myself. I entered my credit card, they charged me 1$ and then banned me. Dont trust them.
Hi Rico. We're sorry to hear about that. We want to clarify that we make sure the user knows why their account was suspended. If you haven't already, please submit a support ticket for more clarification. Thanks for your understanding.
A huge inflation in listia. Used to be 1,000 credits = $1 all the way to 5,000 credits = $1
Lol no thank you :)
Hi Robert,
There is no actual credit-to-cash or cash-to-credit value on our site as it is determined by the ever-changing dynamic marketplace and it will vary. For more information on this, you can visit: https://help.listia.com/hc/en-us/articles/204445443-What-are-credits-and-do-they-have-a-cash-value-
Sincerely,
Tom
Many of their own rules they break and if you get nailed for paying for something you did not get, your loss, they will not help you at all.
Hi Dennis,
We are unsure what you mean when you state that we break our own rules, because we definitely do not. If you've ever had an issue or needed clarification, we hope you submitted a support ticket so we could assist you. We never want our users to be unhappy and misunderstand the outcome of a dispute decision. We hope you reach out to us if you ever need help or clarification again.
They want you to ship for free and give you a bonus 15 points? 15 points doesn't cover the cost of shipping! You're dealing with people who feel entitled on this site. You know the type who live off the government it's just that somebody has given them their very own "Ebay"
If you do add a shipping charge then you are bombarded by the low lives who want everything for free demanding how dare you charge shipping! Then your comments are full of Free shipping... I would bid if it were free shipping... who are you to come here and charge shipping... and on and on.
Most can't or don't read the ads. If you put in your ad "The only one I have"
Your comments are full of do you have more of these? When will you have more of these? It's like dealing with illiterate hobos. It is a site that you cannot take seriously because it's full of imbeciles and run by imbeciles.
You also have beggars leaving comments on your comment page poor mouthing oh if only I had the points I have a niece, neighbor, friend who is down and out and could really use this but alas I failed to score enough credits and I can't afford the shipping charge LMAO!
Then you'll get messages from beggars giving you their hard life story and why they can't pay for something that they want or need that you have on auction
The beggars pull out every con to get it for free. And if that isn't bad enough they have the nerve to request free shipping but you check their listing and yes you guessed it they charge shipping. The site is a joke in itself. Junky people listing junky stuff. If you like junk then you'll love this site. If you have impeccable taste then I suggest you go elsewhere.
I thought, at first, this website was such a wonderful concept. If every item you bid on is free shipping, then it truly is "free" bc you never exchange currency. Now, the problem I've had so far, I am new to the site, I had the 3,000 credits so thought ok, I'll bid on some stuff. I won altogether a scarf, nothing fancy and was free shipping, that was over a week ago and only heard from the girl one time who said shed ship it on the 15-20th. I have messaged her to see if she ever shipped it bc majority of my credits were spent on that scarf, no answer. I have filed a request for return of my credits which listia said the seller has five days to respond or ill win.
The second item was a nose stud, free shipping, the girl messaged and said she shipped it out yesterday which was just two days after I won so we will see how that goes.
The third was a makeup brush from elf. Shipping is not free it's $2.00 flat rate shipping, however, since I have won yesterday morning, no response from the seller and I've messaged her a few times. How am I suppose to pay the shipping cost if she will not give me the info. The longer it takes her to give me the info the longer it'll take me to send the money the longer it'll take to get it, if I actually do get it at all!
So with my experiences thus far I'm feeling like this site may be junk! If all of the sudden my items arrive or the sellers apologize, two of them not the one who did respond, and we get it straight then ill continue using listia! I think there should be a certain response time, not seven days, just for the seller/buyer they have 24 hrs to message the seller/winner and let them know its official. Idk but so far 2/3 auctions are successful for me, if I loose out on the elf brush I won as well, I'm not listing anything, like I had planned before, I'll quit this site!
I like the site but it is expensive. It used a great site in the beginning but then the prices sky rocketed and I rarely use the site anymore.
I would give it an ok because its not to nice and its not to bad i would really say its very average to me
This stupid website suspended my account right after i had just spent 50 real american currency dollars to get credit and they wont give me a refund
Answer: Stacy L Some sellers can even display they really sent mail, they take digital photo when they send mail. They can even show out. But because listia recoginze tracking code. Even if you can even display the mail and correct address correct person, showing u had really sent mail, because no tracking code. Listia would still return all credit back to buyer.
Answer: Because listia is a joke. Complete scam..
Answer: Its just a game even the verified people you cant trust to many children on listia and grown men that act like children
Answer: Listia is an online marketplace where you win other people's stuff using credits instead of money. All users on our site act as both a Buyer and Seller. If you are bidding on items you want from our site, you are considered a Buyer. If you are giving away items on our site, you are considered a Seller :)
Answer: They don't deal in cash, unless you want to buy listia credits. That being said, you can make some bank if you have a good product by what credits you make on it. Then, you could use those credits to bid on gift cards and more pricey stuff that has actual value. I use the site for hard to find seeds, and it has been good for me. As for making money? Not so easy to see a real profit.
Answer: I hate that so much. You might want to contact the owners themselves and report it since they may not even be verified, meaning it's not even safe for the seller.
Listia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 415 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Listia most frequently mention customer service, gift card and many people. Listia ranks 166th among Auction sites.
Hi Sheri L,
I certainly can look into this for you. I can only post one comment per day here though due to a sitejabber limitation, so please open up a support ticket and reference our posts here so that we can look into it for you.
Please note though that up to 4 accounts are allowed per household, but they must be for different people, such as 4 room mates, or 2 couples... each person must be a different person. This is done to protect our members and it's been this way for some time now.
Thanks!
