WORST customer service I've had in a long time. Do any of their employees enjoy working there? 80% of the people I engaged with just stared at me until I spoke to start the conversation, and NONE of them appeared to be having a nice day. I purchased a stepladder before I drove home to empty my vehicle and make room, and was told it would be waiting at the front entrance. When I returned to the front entrance, they told me it would now be waiting at door 15. When I drove all the way around to door 15... they told me to go to door 3. And when I drove over to door 3... I find that it's about 20 FEET from where the ladders were inside! That means even the employee working the area with the ladders had no idea there was the option for me to pick it up just outside. I didn't have far to drive home, so I rolled my back windows down, put the ladder in the back seat, and let it stick out the side. On my way out of the yard, I presented my receipt to the guy at the gate, and got a VERY snarky and disrespectful "Um... doesn't your back seat fold down!?!?" I already knew that the angle would be too shallow, but didn't feel the need to explain that to this snide assclown. Instead, I simply asked him "Well, should I hop out of the car, and rearrange it right now?" He said "Uh... I don't know, but that's not how I would have done it." Horrible service, piss-poor attitudes from employees, and a level of disrespect I have not received as a paying customer (spent over $200) in a long, long time. I'll be going to Home Depot, or ANYPLACE else from now on.
Bought a $1200 snowblower from Menards west Lansing store two days ago. Idling surging problem would not help. Originally he said he would do an exchange then changed his mind and said to leave the store there not helping us. We were in shock. They just don't care. Worst customer service. Allan Lied to our faces. Said to take it to a place and have it fixed during a snowstorm. DO NOT BUY EQUIPMENT FROM THIS STORE! Buy a used one you will be much happier. I wish I did.
I placed an online for some insulation. They apparently could not get it all one on truck so they wait until they deliver half of it to tell us that and then proceed to tell us that we have pay another delivery fee. NOT HAPPY!
I am appalled by the disgraceful level of incompetence and sheer disregard for customers exhibited by Menards and their customer service team, particularly Laura S. Here's my story:
I placed an order on a Sunday and canceled it within minutes. That should have been the end of it, right? Wrong. Despite my prompt cancellation, the customer service team failed to cancel the order in time, allowing the item to ship to the local store—and then they had the audacity to charge me a 25% restocking fee for their own failure.
When I contacted their online customer service team to address this absurd charge, the nightmare began. It took them a full 24 hours to respond to every single message, dragging the process out unnecessarily. To make matters worse, Laura S. Blatantly lied about contacting the local store manager, claiming he had said I agreed to the restocking fees (an outright fabrication). She refused to offer any assistance or explanations, showing zero care or urgency in resolving my issue.
In sheer frustration, I called the local store manager myself, and guess what? He refunded my order without issue in less than 10 minutes. This quick resolution exposed Laura S.'s behavior for what it was: deliberate negligence and a complete lack of pride in her job. Not only did she lie about her efforts, but she also inflicted unnecessary back-and-forth, wasting my time and causing me undue stress.
The contrast between the local store manager's professionalism and the abysmal handling by Menards' online customer service is staggering. Menards' management should be ashamed. Their customer service team is an abusive, disorganized disaster, creating hurdles for customers rather than solving problems. It's clear they prioritize making a quick buck over maintaining even a shred of integrity or care for their patrons.
If this is how Menards chooses to treat its customers, then I strongly urge others to think twice before shopping here. The lack of accountability and basic decency is staggering, and unless they make drastic changes to their customer service practices, I will never be giving them my business again.
This has to be the worse place to shop for customer service and their ridiculous rebate policy. I was told by a manager at Menards if I was within a few weeks of the rebate period I would get a rebate on $1900 of tile! Nope refused it. I paid cash for the tile and had a previous rebate for $192.00. Well when I returned a few boxes they would not give me cash back but only a store credit! I had my receipt this is ridiculous! I told them besides using that store credit I was never using them again! Go Home Depot and Lowe's you have far better customer service. We have done 30 houses and four farms Menards lost a good customer! CUSTOMERS BE WARE!
I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.
If I could give them a rating less than one star I would. Used to be a fairly good place to shop but has turned into a greedy corporation. If my last name was Menard I would change it and go into the govt. Witness protection program. I got stung buying vinyl flooring from the CFL corp. which is just Chinese garbage, don't believe "made in USA" on products anymore.
Be careful what you purchase at Menards, they sell products with "Made in U.S.A". On the packaging but this rather deceptive. A lot of "made in America" is kind of true in the legal sense but is in reality companies from China who set up shop in the U.S. with Chinese workers, and Chinese material shipped in. The end result is that you are getting the same inferior Chinese products as before but inder a new umbrella. Check out the companies history carefully and read customer reviews befoe making any purchases.
Seems they have a huge turnover of staff. A few are really great. Several confided they do not like the manager. Same here, have had interactions with him - absolutely do not care for his behavior, personality, approach. I have a small business. If he were my employee, he would be fired...nasty attitude, not friendly... Hope he gets transferred to some other store...
I went in there as a single woman and asked for assistance and had to wait 20 minutes before anyone could come and help me and then I asked him to help me cut these metals for my carpet and they said no. The customer service says we sell your projects we don't do your projects. I considered that very rude
Menards facts. They put returns that are used back in stock. If their rebates fail, they tell you to contact the office and they tell you to mail them back. This company passed the buck all the time. Menards sucks. No stars for you! You got 1 star cause I was forced too. Menards sucks. No nice way to put it.
They need to stop posting final price after rebate when you get no money back after the "rebate"
Menard's advertises products with a before and after price with the rebates. After looking at the fine print you save no money and the final price is a lie. You get no money back after the rebate, but instead get store credit.
Cannot believe the $#*!s at Capital One that administer the Menards Big Card they are Crooks on an $18.02 bill that was paid less than 24 hours late incurred a $17 late fee that is horse$#*!.
After over 20 years of being a big card member and spending tens of thousands of dollars at Menards I have now canceled my big card account and shredded it and will never ever deal with Capital One in any way shape or form ever again in my life.
I may still use Menards but it will no longer be my first choice.
Rip off store. Unsafe aisles, rarely sales help available, junk quality items, inane jingle music blasting constantly, rude management, refunds nearly impossible to get, misleading sale posters. You name it, if it's unethical, rude, or your basic rip off scheme, they engage in it. I've lived here since before this store was built and had more bad experiences than good ones. Their plants are always half dead during the growing season, their tools are over priced and poor quality, and their food items are often outdated and just gross. They sell milk and dairy but do not keep their coolers at the correct temperature. So following safety guidelines is obviously not a priority for them. If you choose to shop there, be careful about EVERYTHING you pick up. You DO NOT want to go through their exchange/refund hassle.
I purchased Medalian Cabinets, and we had a total of 6 base cabinets 4 came damaged and one wall cabinet. We did get the replacements, and they came more damaged than the originals. The finish on most cabinets were horrible. They do not stand behind their products they sell. We have spent almost 10,000 on these cabinets that are supposed to be top of the line they are actually junk below is a picture of just one of the cabinets. When telling the salesperson about it she stated yes, we get a lot of complaints about them. I was so shocked they said that and even though they get a lot of complaints they still sell them and WILL NOT stand behind them. Then I went to return an item to get a store credit without a receipt they said they had to put it in the damage and could not return it for store credit without the receipt but can do it with one. So, I had to spend another 10 minutes to 15 minutes looking for the receipt found it and they gave me the money back. Which does not make sense with or without the receipt you still had to damage it out and I was just asking for a store credit without the receipt. What a joke.
I bought an item $2500, online from Menards. The item after 36 days was never delivered, sat in a warehouse. Could not contact anyone at Menards on this, and they refuse to give me full refund. Spent hours and hours on my own trying to resolve. Has been a nightmare. Do not order from Menards.com. This overall rating says it all - do your homework and avoid.
Was visiting relatives in Missouri and bought a 2 pack of led ceiling lights for our home in South Carolina. (Nearest Menards to us is 11 hours).
Got home and went to install them and 1 was broken.
Called Menards and was told I would have to pay shipping both ways to return an Item that was broken when purchased.
Checked their satisfaction rating and they have a 1 star rating, big surprise there.
Won't ever buy from them again.
I only asked for HALF the delivery fee back! No- $20 and too bad...
I bought 2 pieces of furniture. I made sure they knew exactly where it needed to go before purchasing. $170 for delivery. They brought the first "lighter" item in, the second "heavier " piece of furniture never even came off the truck.
The delivery guys said no way. $20 dollar refund? They agreed to a service, complete half of the service, but will only refund $20. I Would have not purchased if they didn't tell me "we will deliver it ".
Now I have to pay another delivery for the furniture with a company that will stand by their agreement. You are just a name on a mailing list to them.
This was a personal purchase but be sure, I could have gotten whatever I wanted if I went to my Contractor Rep.
I already cut my Contractor Card in half.
The everyday customer is what keeps the company going.
If you're shipped the wrong items, you email them and they ask for pics if the products. Did that. Then they say it was a store that fulfilled my order so they're going to forward my email to them. That was 15 days ago. I've opened a new case but haven't heard back from them on that either. This is no customer service whatsoever.
Do not order anything on menards.com
Ordered a bathroom sink and it was the ugliest and extremely poor quality product. Could not send it back, had to return to the store and got charged 25% restocking fee. Nowhere in my order it said "special order" or that I will get charged 73.00 to look at their awful product.
South Lansing, MI. The fat blond's watch runs fast so get there early and I guess plan ahead for the toilet handle to break because if not, when you get there at 7:58 she'll be rushing to lock the door as you're two steps from it. I could have been in and out before 8:00 really happened. Add this to slow lines at regular hours, skeleton crew cashiers (4-5 people behind the counter/standing at the exit talking...), disinterested and unqualified floor staff. I go here because it is the closest and I shop twice a week, not anymore. $#*! Menards. Lowes and Home Depot will be getting my business from now on.
Answer: Was hoping for the simple convenience of online ordering and getting it shipped to my house. I was wrong, the amount of time I've had to put into trying to resolve my shipping issues has been awful. Been a month since I started asking Menards for help with the issues. Still no response.
Answer: Exactly! Menards sucks never have any problem with returns to Lowes will not buy sh#t from Menards anymore!
Answer: Nope, always have issues with them. You're far better off going to one of the other Hardware stores.
Answer: Nearly impossible. No customer service phone #'s provided by Menards. Have been waiting over a month for a response to my request and issues. Have also requested updates multiple times within that month with absolutely no response. Hopefully this is only because of Covid-19 but I from what I've heard the Customer Service is always almost unreachable
Menards has a rating of 1.2 stars from 348 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Menards most frequently mention customer service, home depot and store credit. Menards ranks 87th among Department Store sites.
