I never really used nextdoor much. But I always got the daily digest, which kept me up-to-date with what mostly was going on. Unfortunately the redesigned digest page is almost useless, I barely read it each day when I get it. I almost never go to the next door website I am therefore out-of-the-loop pretty much.
I created a business page and have not been able to log into it for several days. I followed all the suggestions in the canned help section to no avail. No one has followed up in the 24 to 48 hours, they claim to follow up. Don't waste your time with a business profile on here.
Don't write the truth about what a large real estate company did to you or the post will get removed. They don't have any you know what to let users post bad things and corporations with a lot of power. I have had better luck posting the truth on facebook. They don't seem to be afraid of posting corruption between corporations and the local government.
Repeatedly, I reported inappropriate online conduct to Next Door, and contacted leads. The lead, "Rodney Stringer" when I insisted that he discipline and remove a member who caused gang threat to me in public chat forum, wrote"do not contact me again". I told the abusers of the Ap that I would be reporting the threats to police. I was ssuspended from the Ap, and the unlawful activity continued. I emailed a letter to Sarah, the Ap creator, and she did not take responsibility nor respond. This Ap, with the leaders who currently presided over my neighbors safety is unsafe, illogical, and full of potential for good, but instead it is full of corrupt, likely drug addicts and corrupt people. Be careful.
I got suspended from Nextdoor again for no reason. It appears Nextdoor and our local Leads are very liberal sided. They allow comment and posts from the left and BLUE supporters but when someone from the right (RED) comments they get censored and suspended. I was not abusive, combatant or un-neighborly.
I don't appreciate being treated like a 6 year old.
Why do your leads suck and how dare you allow such hated bullying? If they do not agree with your opinion and sometimes the facts you are reported or banned. This has become a very racial and violent website. A lot of bad things have begun to happen because of the cyberbullying.
Bunch of NASTY people, with nothing better to do than sit around judging others and making ignorant comments. If you attempt to defend yourself, your comment is hidden by the app! Apparently abusing others is OK on this app... I am DONE with it!
In our neighborhood we share, we have had several lost dogs or bad people around and this app lets us get in touch safe and fast. Even helping neighbor find services and recommendations if you don't have it get it and encourage your friends and family do add to it aswell.
NextDoor seems to be one sided... in the opinion of the leads. If someone does not like you, they can "report" you for anything they want. You cannot advertise your service business unless you are a national corp or a real estate business or a pet company. Don't waste your time...
There are privacy and bullying concerns. Unless you're friends with the leads, if you post anything that disagrees with someone, they can go on and on attacking your credibility and get downright personal in their attacks. There is better social media out there to communicate with your family, friends and neighbors.
Got banned because I asked what part of breaking the law do you not understand to a bunch of knuckleheads who kept making excuses for shooting illegal fireworks in my neighborhood. I guess I hurt a liberals feelers and Nextdoor would rather censor law abiding citizens. Whatever, what do you expect from a company based in San Francisco...
I started using Next Door in its very early stages sometime in 2011 or 2012. I immediately embraced it because we are in the digital age and it is a great way to connect with your neighbors and the concentric circles of your neighborhood. An invaluable tool to connect and communicate.
Nextdoor is a terrific app to get to know your neighbors and you community at large. There are ways to connect, ask questions, get information, and sell stuff if you want. I like the usability of the app and how you can send invitations to those that have not connected yet.
They close comments quite regularly of people that don't agree with them. I have been banned for three day because I posted a picture from our local newspaper. They said I was somewhere in the realm of discrimination, bulling, a racist etc. they removed the same post that I put on a private group that I belong to., Conservative Club of Tellico Village. I thought private groups did not get closed.
Seems like those with power at Nextdoor don't always understand what they are censoring/taking down, and or disagree with it, so take it down. Seriously, not allowing astronomy posts because they are not "local"?! Those were my favorite and the most interesting posts I have ever seen on Nextdoor. Well done.
Against my better judgement, I received a post card to rejoin Nextdoor.com. Nothing has changed - a handful of bad neighbors continue to misuse the urgent alert functionality and the Community administrators come down on those who express frustration about the misuse.
Example: One lady posted an urgent alert at 2am the week of Christmas looking for someone to embroider T-shirts. Several folks complained and voiced frustration, and those complaining/voicing frustration were censured because 'urgent alerts' are 'subject to interpretation'.
The terms of usage that everyone agrees to when signing up clearly state how 'urgent alerts' are to be used. If the administrators are not going enforce the community behavior standards, the site will continue to be less than useful to the community.
A handful of neighbors have ruined what could be a good app. There is no enforcement of the community standards that each person agrees to when signing up. There is no moderation in our neighborhood. Be prepared to get non-stop 'urgent alerts' via text, app, and email for every lost dog or cat, for every suspicious (insert racial profile here) person, every bump or knock in the dark. Be ready to receive character assassination if you challenge any behaviors or attitudes. Don't expect anyone to step in and restore sanity.
I enjoy the local flavor of Nextdoor. Helpful with lost pets, ofers of help, recommendations for contractors, and events in the area. Sometimes devolves into "flaming" other people who disagree, but that's easy enough to ignore. I use it and will continue to so so.
There are hundreds of posts where people are breeding puppies, kittens, and using the site to sell life. If you post a reminder how many puppies and kittens are killed every day in "shelters', they will REMOVE your post. They are practicing arbitrary censorship that imposes their own narrow views and prejudices. Booo Next Door! Bad. Bad. Boycott!
Nextdoor allow neighbors to put photos on their site showing how they put notes all over my family members car calling him a pig because they didn't like the way he parked. I responded to their post calling them a messy itch. I got suspended for 30 days but yet it's okay to call someone a fkg pig.
I live in a neighborhood that has an ongoing conflict about the sale of a golf course. The HOA is trying to block the ale and then put the purchase on the homeowners (if they can get it). For the last year posts criticizing and "blasting" anti-HOA have been allowed. Today information that was negative about the HOA and telling us what is going on were removed! Sure seems the nextdoor lead is trying to protect the HOA and leave the residents in the dark!
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
