Silly concept, insisting on me giving full details for all to see. Doubtful anyone in his/her right mind will do it. Forced to move from Streetlife to this abomination. It never took off as people do not like it. Shame to lose the community we had before. Thank you "Nextdoor" for messing it all up.
I wish the map were dynamic to your address... say a 2 mile radius rather than having hard boundaries. I am on the boundary of a neighborhood so I get info from 3 miles to the north and west of me and no info from across the street both east and south. So far the content has been OK, but I am more likely to find a lost dog that lives close to me than 3 miles away.
Nextdoor is a good tool/resource for sharing things with people in your neighborhood. Free items to share or safety information. Just a nice way to stay connected to your neighbors in our ever fast paced lives.
A hateful place to go. If you join and post a conservative opinion the Nextdoor liberal vulture members will go on the attack with insults and threats. If you object to that Nextdoor will disable your account for not meeting community standards. It appears Nextdoors idea of an upstanding community are only those who have hard core leftist points of view--stay the heck away from Nextdoor
I have been a Nextdoor participant since buying my home in Florida. The site is useful in keeping up with the goings on in the neighborhood as well as the surrounding areas. It is especially helpful in keeping up with anything that is happening while away from home. I love the whole idea behind this site. I am also a member in my neighborhood area in New York, so it is great to have at both locations.
I read most of the items on nextdoor, but when two or more people start complaining back and forth it's time they go on facebook of someother worthless social media and hash it out there. I thought this site was to enhance the neighborhood and yes to keep the streets informed of hurtful people. Some people need to upgrade their conversations. (only my point of view).
We at Stonewater Creek use Nextdoor frequently. I, as the admin, have had serious problems with getting proper support for map maintenance. We are a growing community with new sections being added every couple of years. As an IT professional this is a great concern to me and as the founder, lead and admin for my community the map should reflect properly. It hasn't for the new areas being developed. I've also offered to help if given the access to do so.
The main problem we have in my area is our "LEADs" if you have a safety concern and ask a question our lead doesn't like she gets verbally abusive. Our neighborhood in Atlanta has many safety issues this was suppose to be a platform to share info not certain people's opinions. Nextdoor does nothing to police the LEADS, therefore stay away many great alternatives out there.
Shame on you Nextdoor
This site has gone full depraved. They actively foment and encourage harassment of Conservatives especially educated Conservative women of color. HOW this is even possible is mystifying to me, that social media has reached the level of old time segregationists and racists encouraging rabid leftist men by allowing threatening posts and demeaning posts towards conservative women of color to stay up but if that same woman defends the Constitution their account is disabled.
I was on Nextdoor for a few months and all the neighbors were bullying me about my dogs. Come to find out one of the dogs wasn't even mine and someone reported me for I don't even know what and I ended up banned from the site. I never said anything derogatory or defamatory against anyone in the neighborhood but yet I was the one who ended up banned, which is fine with me because all it is is a base for a bunch of immature adults to whine about everything. You're better off on Facebook. Stay away from Nextdoor.
My neighbor, Brian H, was banned from Next Door for voicing an opinion that went against the lead for our neighborhood. Now, I've been banned because I supported Brian and I support freedom of speech and opinion. After all, this is not Nazi Germany and we have a right to voice our opinion even if it is not favorable to the lead's opinion and stance. I also commented on the lead's abuse of the next door site as a means to gain recognition and a way of "meeting" folks and dropping her real estate flyers off on our doorsteps. I believe she was looking to gain monetarily and publicly, and having contacts and supporting the city council, she furthered their agenda and banned those folks who do not necessarily support the city council's flagrant abuse of power. I don't care if I ever see Next Door again. It was good for checking on crime in the area, sales and other general info.

Like many others, I was horrified that my full name and address was visible to everyone in my neighbourhood. I did not give permission for this. You only find this out after signing up. I could then hide my house number but that hardly makes much difference - and the map clearly indicates where I live. I liked Streetlife but this other site should be banned for breaching people's privacy. DO NOT JOIN IT.
There are literally hundreds of complaints about the next door app and how people have been harassed, kicked off for nothing etc. I could name quite a few of them. I have been targeted myself and I am absolutely angry to have to be subjected to other peoples
Malicious behavior. They put too much power with the leads on these apps and leads gang up with whoever they like and pretty much run the show and if they don't like you you're off! How did they pick these leads? I say we get together and file a class action suit for the harassment! We need to somehow figure this out I may just post on Facebook about how to get together for Nextdoor and a class action suit! So look for it! Thank you
Next door use to be a Great Service, but as of lately other groups have seem to taken over and it is no longer a group to be respected. They are a local Twitter or Facebook and is getting worse... Just by asking the question "WHY" when it comes asking why someone is not happy about something, I get banned. I said and did nothing wrong. When nextdoor started, they were great, they were the best... Now they are the worst. They have been taken over by people who want to state their views as fact and dismiss eveyone elses view, and nextdoor allows that. You ask someone why and you get suspended.
Good Bye Next Door.
I am on our local political committee and have an address list for everyone in my township. There is NO "Neal Roberts" on my road. Glad I never took the last steps to sign up. BTW we have a Facebook group for our local area, where the admins can see who's who, and we know each other. This Nextdoor is a bogus site.
Very bad... the site makes you give out your name and you are allowed to not give number of your address... well I was with hunted down from lead and followers because I disagreed with posts. I only used my first and middle name. Then they tracked down my full name and full address and posted it... how did they know if I was a battered women and did not want this info out there? They also flag whenever they disagree with you. Do not join for your personal safety and for your sanity... Nextdoor will eventually use this website to sell advertising and hey they have all your private info!
Repeatedly trying to upload a profile picture. Not successful after at least 7 attempts. Not too impressed unless the delay for it appearing is down to vetting.
Not too happy about the amount of information displayed on profile. I realise that you can exclude the street number, but I would also like the option of excluding the road I live in. Still considering what to do about that. It may be prudent to exit Nextdoor.
I thought this might be a pretty cool thing to join, so I did. Within 1/2 hour, I received a text message that somebody was assigned by their boss to collect 100 emails, and that they would call me tomorrow. I blocked the number and thought this was pretty shady. I fear now I may get robbed. Be very wary.
Nextdoor is great for connecting with my actual, real neighbors. We help each other with things to do in our city, business recommendations, lost/found pets, safety concerns, and other issues. I like how for the most part, everyone is very respectful of each other in communications. When people aren't respectful, other neighbors put them in their place and remind them of appropriate communications. This website has been so helpful for me; I highly recommend it.
I find the neighborhood information very helpful especially when people share about something that wouldn't be shared by the city or other media. Examples are recommendations for landscaper, sharing about sales people going door to door and coyotes seen in the neighborhood. Of course people are people and get a little obnoxious with opinions sometimes. That's how they will be on the internet.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
