I was able to obtain something i needed for craft storage and it was a simple process, quick, and i love the product i purchased. We have since moved and no longer have access to Nextdoor, which is a shame, because it's a good concept!
I joined Nextdoor when Streetlife was bought by them in Feb 2017. I have just deactivated my account after repeated attempts via the support email to get them to remove my street name from my profile. Nextdoor simply have no respect for people's privacy wishes. For the short time I was on the site it was apparent that other people were equally horrified that they had no control over the information displayed about them. Many people changed to false names (on Streetlife the convention was first name and initial of surname) to avoid their full first name and surname being displayed. Simply not good enough. Avoid.
Person on Nextdoor admitted that people were printing conversations and watching all neighbors posts. A complaint was filed with ND they then made this this person a lead. This app only makes it easy for people, HOAs, and cops to stalk and track neighbors. If you have people in your neighborhood with alterior motives this app is not for you. I came away completely disgusted. Other than that it's your neighbors selling their junk and complaining about drivers and dog poop. Worthless
I used to really look forward to my emails from Nextdoor. Now I don't. There are so many ads that it is hard to find anything that is being said other than the ads. It used to be a great site. Not so much anymore.
Overall ND has provided useful, valid, and stellar information; it can also be crazy humorous. I have acquired unexpected treasures from neighbors, and exceptional, useful apps. And links. I have highly recommended countless people to ND. That is why I am also disappointed in the petty, vulgarness of some of the threads. (I hate to recommend tasteless trash to my friends and family.) Some of the negative interactions from neighbors can be down right shocking and nasty! Big time cussing, name calling, shaming and discriminatory targeting should be immediate account revocable offenses; even if under the mask of an auspicious cartoon or joke.
Getting a meaningful response to a question about moved out address'. How to delete them? When people move the address is tied up since the old folks did not delete themselves. How do we make this more current? A clean list is a good list.
I was the victim of bullying and cyberstalking on Nextdoor. I decided to use only my initials instead of my full name to protect myself. Nextdoor never warned me, they just told me I had been reported (didn't say by who) for using my initials instead of my name. When I tried to tell them why, they ignored me. IMO Nextdoor is a dangerous site, filled with hateful mob mentality bullies.
A very poor excuse for a "neighborhood" site. My community's HOA president also happens to be the "lead/moderator" of NextDoor. Any posts critical of the HOA board are being taken down and censored. This extends from a simple question about HOA minutes being posted to a post giving information regarding a Facebook Community page that was created due to said censorship. I've deactivated my account.
Biased against conservatives, Republicans, and anyone who argues against their Leftist/Liberal/Socialist ideas. Can censor your comments without notice or recourse and frequently does. Does not adhere to any consistent standards or guidelines. I just deactivated my account today and couldn't be happier.
It's mob rule on nextdoor.com. It's easy for several people to gang up and get folks they don't like banned. The nextdoor administrators aren't bright enough, or don't care enough, to prevent this from happening. So people tend to go on site for a little bit and then quit.
It's a good medium to get recommendations when looking for help ie plummer electrician painter etc. advertising things for sale or announce garage sale. It's just a great way to notify a lot of neighbors & neighborhoods with one message
This app needs to be completely removed and banned. They not only allow individual harassment they allow theyre higher ups to do the same if not worse. These people are just a bunch of lonely cowards who hide behind a screen to feel some kind of validation. This app doesnt promote any sense of community in any way shape or form. People think they can overrun others and their opinions and posts. I'm sick of all the Karen's that have flocked to this app.
Wth is descriminatory content? Apparently saying anything is now a descriminatory content if you don't lick Bidens derrier and worship Marxist burn loot and murder brigade they practically want to stalk you and kill you! You must bow to all the bull coming out of the deranged leftists orifices daily or else they go after your employer! Just look at the ignorant trash threatening people!
The site will provide as much or as little information as you want. You can screen people who seem to abuse the system and get on either a political agenda or a rage of some kind. If you want to know something in the area of specialties, you can ask, and you can get recommendations, which seem to be very helpful. This site is for knowledge and information about our area and not for placing opinions, so if you set your parameters correctly the site can work for you.
Despite some of the rabble-rousing and pot stirring that goes on in the Nextdoor app, I think it's a great source of information and a good place to buy/sell/trade/giveaway household items, clothes, cars, etc. it's a valuable resource and a good connection to the community around me.
Recently discovered that one of the Leads for our neighborhood was a convicted felon and career thief! This guy has felony convictions as well as a 20+ year history of theft, fraud, identity theft, arson, criminal trespass, and more. As if that isn't bad enough... he advertises his computer "cleaning" company on our ND. This guy is the LAST person that needs to be a Lead on ND, but it is also terrifying that, with his history, he is using ND as a means of getting "work" and accessing peoples computers!
We have made NextDoor Admin Shane Knoll aware of this and he insists that there is nothing wrong with this... WTH!?
Stay away from ND... stay FAR AWAY!
Again any site that wants your friends contact list and information is up to no good. I was going to join but will not join now because I refuse to give any site or app access to my friends/contact list.
This website may have good intentions, but good intentions aren't enough. This sight is just a way to bully. If you have minor children and aren't fond of or agree with everyone in your neighborhood then stay away. If you do feel you are being bullied and get an invite; if you or your children's safety may be a concern; contact your children's school. They most likely have crisis intervention specialist who can connect with the police who have access to this website without giving up their real, full name and address and they can help protect you and your family. The support from the website in non existent so this is the safest route.
I was enjoying being on a neighborhood informational sight until 1 person ruined it for so many. A LEAD sending women nasty, reprimanding private messages is way out of line, yet he continues to be the LEAD. I like the idea of NextDoor, but they need to clean house.
It's a total joke. So many people there use only their first name and last initial. I got my account suspended after only my second post to the site and I had been on it inactively for YEARS. Apparently I annoyed someone. I wish to keep the peace in my neighborhood and would hate to be doxxed or harassed should some busy body find my other social media accounts and disagree with me politically or otherwise. I LIVE here and I want it to remain peaceful for my family and everyone in the community. It's outrageous that I was singled out by someone who felt annoyed by a post and then banned for not having my entire last name on the site. I set my account up that way for a reason.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
Nextdoor has a rating of 1.9 stars from 3,047 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Nextdoor most frequently mention social media, real name and free speech. Nextdoor ranks 503rd among Social Network sites.
