I'm sure I'll like the pants I ordered but it's been two weeks and I still haven't received them - and I live in the country where the company is based! So I can't comment on the quality of the product, but I CAN say that shipping is painfully and unnecessarily slow. These guys ought to take a lesson from Amazon!
Northbound Gear is your classic Dropshipper, they have done a good job making their website appear legitimate, but all the items on it are available cheaper on Alibaba and the like. Having interacted with them, they will lie about whether their products are just rebranded and more expensive drop shipped products, even when you have evidence to the contrary. Integrity is not one of this company's values. Their "empowering local communities" is just pablum, and having questioned them on their initiatives, they have scant details (which makes sense for a dropshipper). Their "clothing with a conscience" tag line is pure BS.
I have attached a picture of the Gash Hao snowpant, which they call their signature "adventure" pant.
I ordered these pants a little later than I should of and the delivery was slightly late for when I needed them for a trip to Norway. That is not Northbounds fault it is mine. I received the pants when I got back and am really impressed with the quality and the function. Superb clothing.
I ordered a pair of the adventure pants after seeing all of the positive reviews and great marketing material. I ordered my usual pant size of 36x32, however, when I received them, the waist fit perfectly but from the knees down they were skin tight. I returned them, at my expense, and exchanged them for a size up, 38x32. Just received them today and the waist is a bit larger, but from the knees down they are like tights, again!
Extremely disappointed. The quality of the material looks great, but these are just too uncomfortable to wear around. Maybe I received two faulty pairs. There is no way they should be that tight around the calves and knees. In looking at the videos, it appears to be a normal or slim fit. Mine are like tights.
I currently using my new back pack on a trip to Antartica. I am happy of the side straps where I can snug up the pack to give it a smaller profile while on regional size aircraft. First trip with the pack and all is well.
I have a few pairs of the Women's "V1 Explorer" Summer Pants and a pair of the Women's "Adventure" Water Resistant Pants V1 for the winter months. They are quite simply THE best hiking pants I've owned hands down. Comfortable, durable AND affordable. I have purchased pants from "elite" outfitters and am appalled at how flimsy they are. I'm not sure when fashion started to out-trump functionality with women's hiking gear but I am thankful Northbound Gear hasn't succumbed to this disappointing trend. Great work Northbound!
I bought my partner these pants and he loves them so much, I had to get a second pair. They are generous in size, so a 36 fits him perfectly (he normally has to hunt for 37s). They are slimming so he looks especially fit, which he loves!
I love the women's high waisted adventure pants. They are very warm and I love that they are waterproof. I bought the size 6 tall - I am 5'10"/150 lbs. It would be great to have more colours available.
I placed my order on Dec 21. I didn't receive a shipping notification until Jan 2. My pants were not shipped until Jan 7, and I did not receive them until Jan 19. This timeline would have been reeelatively ok considering the holidays had they answered a single one of my emails about the shipping. So this entire process was really anxiety-inducing. For comparison, I ordered a backpack from Alberta, Canada (I live in Appalachia) and I got it in six days. As far as the pants go, construction seems solid save for the front button hole, which wasn't properly trimmed. I'm handy with a needle so it's no big deal. I'll be putting them through the ringer this winter and I think they'll hold up great! They fit well and I love the elastic on the sides for comfort. It's fantastic the sizing chart seems to be accurate, because I DID NOT want to deal with having to exchange them.
Just purchased my second pair of lined women's winter pants - loved the first pair so much. The fit on the second pair is roomier which for a winter pant where I may need long underwear is okay - but I prefer the previous fit. The lighter weight summer pants are fabulous and I love the fit of these!
Website was easy to navigate. Size chart was easy to find & understand. Ordering was simple. My pants arrived quickly to Australia. And they're SOOOO comfortable. Only wish I have (& this is very minor), for kayaking, i wish they had a Velcro cuff at the bottom.
Hi Veronica,
We thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. It warms our hearts to hear that you're thoroughly pleased with your purchase and that we could be a part of your kayaking adventure! Your suggestion about adding velcro to the pants is truly appreciated, and we'll certainly take it into consideration. Let us know if you have questions or need further assistance, we are more than happy to help!
Once again, thank you for choosing North Bound Gear!
Cheers, and have a great day!
I clicked on a Facebook ad for Northbound Gear and thought I would give them a try. The pants I ordered are of excellent quality and were delivered in about 3 days. I use them for ice fishing and cutting wood in NE Wisconsin. I ordered a second pair! Great job NBG!
I had to send quite a few messages to get a response, on the website, through email, on Facebook, and on Instagram. The response I received was clearly copy/pasted and has led me to believe Northbound Gear isn't the most transparent company. If I had known before purchasing that the clothing is produced in China, then shipped to the warehouse in the UK, and then finally sent out to customers, I never would have placed an order.
About a week ago, I got my first chance to test out my men's "Adventure" water Resistant pants. It was 1° C, raining cats and dogs and about 75 km/h wind, and I stayed completely toasty and dry. Impressed! I'm giving the pants five stars, and I'm giving myself five stars for getting the measurements right so the pants fit well.
A $40 belt that does not fit, retuirned and it cost me $20 sending the cheapest method poissible with Canada Post, using the identical packaging they sent the belt in. Then they charge me $5 re stocking fee. Thus a clean return where I shopuld get ALL my money back costs me $25, I only get back $15 on a $40 return. Will never do business with these people again with a disgusting return policy like they have!
Didn't have the items I ordered. Shipping has been painfully slow. It's been a month and a half since I ordered and I still do have my package, must have shipped via extra slow non-express. Sure they've been communicative, but communicating about ineptness doesn't negate ineptness.
I keep getting the offer for adding a 2nd pair of Adventure pants for 25% off at $68.25 but when I accept that offer, the price of the 2nd pair is shown as $91 instead at checkout. I gave up after trying multiple times to add at that price.
I came across the Northboundgear Store when I was looking for the perfect pants for my hike. I got my product in sometime but the product was extremely comfortable and well made and fitted beautifully. After the perfect experience of these pants, I have also ordered tactical jacket. I will surely recommend this store to my friends and family.
I am tall and often have trouble finding sports gear with a long enough inseam. Northbound Gear, you are the best! My long legs are so happy with your 'tall' inseam option. I have both the summer and winter pants and LOVE them both! Very well made!
The ordering process was great. I was frustrated with the lengthy delivery process until i realized that although designed in Canada was manufaktura overseas. Have to say that although the product is warm to wear outside in the snow. Both pair have had issues with item coming apart in the washer
Easy to navijate and finalize my order
Answer: So far the evidence is that it is a scam. Ask me in a year and maybe it will have arrived in time for next hiking trip.
Answer: China... apparently. Won't know for sure as not yet arrived.
