Great website! Cool approach to the online dating world. Mostly clean well managed, Free! There are obviously things that could be improved, like server speed or conversation approaching style option expansion, but again it's free.
I came onto this site twice, each time paid the monthly fee and each time my preferences were totally ignored. I am specific about what I want so that I do not have to go through 100's of men's profiles to weed out the men who smoke or want children. I find this website did absolutely nothing for me. They say no particular pictures are allowed to be posted yet they are constantly posted and low quality people are here to choose from because no one is checking the sites for quality assurance. This is the worst site as far as low level for the price, is should always be free if the site isn't doing what it claims its doing for you.
Ive used this site for months and so far its been pretty good for me. Though Ive got an impression that there are lots of scammers on Okcupid Well, seems like all the dating sites suffer from them. Just need to be careful and never send any money to anyone before you actually meet the person.
Timing is Everything! - My friend recently told me about this new site. Rather than filling out questionnaires and taking personality tests, you can just sign yourself up for a blind date! Has anyone tried this? Isn't it risky?
OkCupid better than some say but not anything to write home about unless you meet someone special. The only dating site that's found me an actual relationship was WeJustFit but unfortunately I blew that so here I am again, comparing & trying. At least its all cheaper than it used to be. Debbie
I paid almost $90 dollars for a three month membership, only to get, at most maybe ten messages from men that were all from out of state despite my settings. After messaging with them for a few minutes, most of them seemed decent and stated they were looking for a long term relationship but shortly after we got to chatting the conversation on their part became sexual. It was a real turn off as I'm looking for a quality person. I made very clear what I'm looking for on my profile but the site is full of cringy men looking for hookups. Unless that's your cup of tea, Don't waste your time or hard earned money.
I don't know what to say about this site other than total disappointment. It may have been much more reputable a couple of years ago but has really fallen in quality. So many fake ads, scammers and gold diggers! For the life of me I can't understand their communication system where you can't see a profile once you've liked a particular person. Speaking of "likes," if you sign up for "A Team" (enhanced membership) you are bombarded with likes from people from Africa (especially Kenya) where there is no potential for a dating relationship! Profiles mysteriously disappear or are locked out. Matching criteria (questions) are superficial at best. Even if you set your criteria for people you would like to meet, the site does not conform to your requests. Nice looking women and entertaining but total waste of time if you really want to find a date with some potential.
This went from being the best dating app (2016) to the absolute worst, you can't message, you can't answer specific grouped questions, Christ you can't even "like" more than ten people a day now! They approve accounts that are clearly someone using American Instagram pictures but claiming to be British because African & Russian scammers don't know the difference! It's basically a pile of crap. And then you want £50 a month... seriously?!... Wt* is wrong with you folks!
It's just been an utter waste of time, and to be honest, I don't trust the platform to make any investment in key features. So many obviously fake profiles and random one word messages to keep me engaged, pretty poor experience overall...
Okcupid can definitely do better when it comes to screening users. It's a nice website, but sometimes I get extremely annoying messages from guys. ANYONE has access to your profile, because it's free.
Perhaps men have a different experience when they sign up at this site. As a woman, the vast majority of communications I received were organized spam, which after a few weeks became very obvious. I learned to question the "potential dates" about odd things they'd say, or repetitious things they'd say, and they'd resort to lines I'd heard already in the same conversations. If I were to guess, OkCupid is owned by a foreign organization that has thousands of cubicles with employees trained to get personal information from subscribers.
Tip for consumers:
My tip? DON'T USE THIS SITE!!!
Not sure why but my account was deleted after making a profile twice. The main culprit, a picture of me in jeans with my shirt off! Hold your horses I know, it's not against guidelines listed on the site, there are several profiles of escorts on the site where they advertise their services, I saw dozens of women covering their breasts with only their hands, or them bent over in some scantily clad underwear. Yet a man cannot have a picture of himself with his shirt off. Awesome job!? Search options were limited, actual search results where usually not complete/fragmented (ie if you searched the same criteria, you'd get different results each time) I would NOT recommend using this site, ever.
OkCupid is a great place to meet new people, especially if you are looking for something casual or casual/dating relationships. OkCupid offers many different tools to help you find the right match. It's also one of the most popular dating sites in the world and has been around since 2004.
Its full of scammers, fake profiles, and some of the most shallow women you'll ever run into. If you actually want a date then lie, because if your not very well off forget about it. I don't like to post my job or pay, and nothing, so made second profile same pic of me diff email put my job down rounded figure of how much i make, pic of my car, and wow the likes and messages came rolling in all just wanting me to take them out, worst part is almost all of them i messaged on 1st profile
I am working my little butt off trying to get some dates but not much is happening. OkCupid has been around a long time so I figured it might be a good place to start but my buddy keeps telling me I should have gone with wejustfit.com as it's more modern (whatever that means lol) and popular. I dont know. I've seen the ads for okcupid and figured it made sense to start there. Like the app and the general simplicity but maybe he's right and it's time to switch or even double down with a couple of sites at the same time, could give me the boost I need. Oh well, onwards and upwards, happy hunting folks:-)
Why does okCupid allow someone text me even if it's not a mutual like?
I blocked at least 50 people over the period of just 2 months if using it because of all the harassing messages. Guys are just indecent here.
They post pictures that are offensive, indecent. Okcupid doesn't do anything to filter them? I've reported at least 30 profiles.
You can't see who visited your profile anymore. So you don't know if there's a creepy stalker of yours...
And what's the deal with not providing an option to delete a profile? I can only disable my profile!?
Tip for consumers:
I can give 0 stars but there's no such option here unfortunately....
Been using OKC for 3 years now. The search options are excellent, Interface is good... There are a lot of opportunities and space to present yourself to others. Matching questions are so obviously done by professionals. Liberal $#*!s, but still professionals. The only downside is that it is not that much popular service, where I live, thus number of users is pretty much limited. Still, they seem to be more intellectual. Only recently the changes made it a little worse. You can't see messages, until you match with that person, if you write a message to someone, you can't see their profile in search or even in messages anymore, until eventually replied, you can't hide people... Therefore a 4 star rating from me
Couple of years ago I used OKCupid for a while. Plenty of my messages went unanswered but I got few dates as well, one of which led to a relationship.
Fast forward three years: I'm single again and open a new profile on the site. It turns out, there's been lots of changes that practically ensure prospective partners won't see each others' messages. A shame really.
Great site for woman you'll have your pic, Forget it if you're an average looking dude. There is no way the site is anywhere close to 50% woman. I was on the site for 12 months, sent out 60 messages, got about 6 replies and one almost date who chickened out. Don't think you have a better chance because she's a 95% match, it's the same crappy reply rate as you would get 50% matches.
Jerk outfit. Setup to steal your money. For free I saw attractive women. Once I paid they disappeared. Cancelled within 24 hours. Contacted my Credit Unions fraud department before the payment went through. I had already sent a message to OKcupid to refund based on their fraudulent claims. Of course, no response? The following day the fraud department called to see if I'd received any response from okc because they had gone ahead and processed my payment. Absolute scam. If you read the reviews on all the dating sites, none are as represented. Easy to steal from folks you don't have to face. Cowards?
My biggest complaint is that you cannot select the racial background of the men you would like to date. In my case, my parents would freak if I ever brought a black guy to their house. My inbox gets flooded by messages from black guys. I have a red dot (responds very selectively) due to this, which makes other members less likely to message you. I sometimes wonder if these guys just do it on purpose since they know you won't respond. Aside from that, I dated three guys off the website. One was rebounding, another looking for casual, open relationships, and the third was thirty and still living with his parents.
I am updating my review and downgrade to one star because I have now conclusively ascertained that the site uses robot accounts. (Females reappearing and matching back to you periodically). Beware then! The rest of my review below is still valid.
You get unlimited likes per day and unlimited communication with your matches. The user base is not great everywhere, so it might not work for you at all. In case of a limited (exhausted:-)) local user base, the app will propose to you prospects internationally. A feature that some will hate, others will love. Also, in Europe at least, the site is full of eastern European members claiming to reside elsewhere. I would not call those profiles fake per se, deceiving upon first impression perhaps.
Generally speaking all dating sites suck for guys. That being said, OkCupid seems to suck somewhat less than the others, and if you are only using the free version of the site then it's worth putting up a profile, as long as you don't let yourself get hooked on it and start checking your profile for more than a few minutes every other day.
I've had far better luck with the site meetup.com, where you actually get out of the house and meet people who have similar interests. The "sit-at-home" dating sites are just not an effective means of finding a date.
The ordinal founders sold out. Now Match Group has completely ruined the last actual useful free dating app/site, because the competition was too hard for them. 10 likes per day limit on the free version. Most likes/views are from halfway round the globe by bots that never get taken down. Most local profiles are dead ends of people that left the app/site and never deleted their profile but will never get removed so that Match group can continue to sell ads space by using inflated user numbers.
Tip for consumers:
I don't think there is a refund policy. It's buy it and use it or lose it.
Had the account for about two years, went on a couple of dates, answered hundreds of questions everything from Ethics, 2017, Politics, Sex, Dating, Lifestyle, had over 20 'likes'. Came across someone who said she 'wanted to suck the blood of guys that kept messaging her'. Having never messaged this person before, I was banned from the site. Had never had one infraction, its one strike your out to the folks at OKC. Would rather be single to share the sentiments of many.
I have invested money and time into Okcupid. The following describes my findings:
The website actually has staff members posing as attractive female users. These users all present the same theme of a played out feminist or bisexual woman who are desperately afraid of men or any kind of relationship involving trust on her end. Prior to messaging any of these women, my account was functional for months. However, after messaging these women (which are staff members), I was banned from the website by IP address shortly after, and I had JUST subscribed in order to see if these users were actually reading my messages. This is no coincidence. This is a very common story and you can find it ALL over Reddit. It is no place for any man to meet a woman and the site seeks to get you to subscribe and flash-ban you such that you cannot cancel your subscription without difficulty. Truly dishonest business practices involved here. STAY AWAY. Preserve your emotions for something else.
Tip for consumers:
Don't even waste your lifespan haha.
We all know about the popular dating sites; match, POF, tinder, wejustfit.com, etc. But I would say that okcupid is close to being on the same level as these main players. It has a really high amount of users (in my area I have lots of women in my search results and from what I can tell most are real people) and it's a nicely designed site that you can use on your tablet, phone, laptop or PC. It needs some work but its definitely one to watch and consider for your dating needs.
