“Great website!”

JONATHAN J.
1/2/13

Great website! Cool approach to the online dating world. Mostly clean well managed, Free! There are obviously things that could be improved, like server speed or conversation approaching style option expansion, but again it's free.

Top Critical Review

“Low grade, no preferences, quantity over quality with few good options”

Ghostwriter t.
10/4/24

I came onto this site twice, each time paid the monthly fee and each time my preferences were totally ignored. I am specific about what I want so that I do not have to go through 100's of men's profiles to weed out the men who smoke or want children. I find this website did absolutely nothing for me. They say no particular pictures are allowed to be posted yet they are constantly posted and low quality people are here to choose from because no one is checking the sites for quality assurance. This is the worst site as far as low level for the price, is should always be free if the site isn't doing what it claims its doing for you.

I have invested money and time into Okcupid. The following describes my findings:

The website actually has staff members posing as attractive female users. These users all present the same theme of a played out feminist or bisexual woman who are desperately afraid of men or any kind of relationship involving trust on her end. Prior to messaging any of these women, my account was functional for months. However, after messaging these women (which are staff members), I was banned from the website by IP address shortly after, and I had JUST subscribed in order to see if these users were actually reading my messages. This is no coincidence. This is a very common story and you can find it ALL over Reddit. It is no place for any man to meet a woman and the site seeks to get you to subscribe and flash-ban you such that you cannot cancel your subscription without difficulty. Truly dishonest business practices involved here. STAY AWAY. Preserve your emotions for something else.

Tip for consumers:
Don't even waste your lifespan haha.

I joined OK Stupid, as I call it, 4 separate times over the course of nearly 4 years. What happened routinely is it at first I get some responses and then zero. No matter how many times I would "boost" my profile it still will not induce a response. I finally got fed up with this site and deleted my profile. I'm done. I don't suggest you do what I did just find some other place to find women. The tramps on this site love it because they get 37 some odd responses per day from men. For men, it's just the opposite. Sometimes I could go months before I get an unsolicited response. Stay away from this one.

I recently stayed away from that site after being on it for six months. I met a lot of robots and people with fake profiles, from Nigeria, Russia, Ukraine, just to name a few. They all have one thing is common and that is trying to empty every guys pocket. I met some girls who started to write to me for a couple of days. Suddenly after the third letter she came up with a story and she wanted me to send her my account number. It did not happen once but a least fifteen time. Thank God Am not a fool! Or else I would have been $#*!ed up where the sun never shines with some Vaseline. Guys stay the $#*! away from that site.

I signed up with the intention to meet in person someone compatible looking for a relationship. Instead a have encountered a lot of phish accounts, soliciting services, and overall nobody is serious about actually meeting up.

I think it might have been good initially when it was started by an MIT grad but there have been 1 or more acquisitions since then and it has really gone downhill.

They took away an awesome feature of being able to scroll through ppl sometime last year and replaced it with a swipe interface that allows you to only see 1 person at a time.

As the name of this site suggests, it is OK. After having to browse through many photos and profiles of girls, I finally stumble upon one that I like, but most of the girls are too selective---they don't even bother to respond or sometime even check out my profile, although a few have been nice.

I met who I thought was the love of my life. Only a few things would I have changed at all. He contacted *me* first, and after giving it some thought, I decided to get us in deep. I thoroughly looked forward to getting to the point where we spent the rest of our lives together.

Then, after a while, he stopped messaging me.

I talked to someone earlier today, and he said he was probably either a middle-aged pervert who creates fake profiles, or a robot.

As a person with autism, I had never been in love before and now, for the first time, I experiencing my first genuine heartbreak. My depression has also gotten a promotion from intermittent to consistent.

After reading about the bad customer service, I'm afraid to report it.

I am registered in Match and this one too. Compared between those two sites I have more success and responses from girls at OKCupid than Match. Anyway from cupid I made a really good friendship with girl but that's it. And of course just as suggestion. When you pay those scam sites use PayPal. Then cancel your subscription with them in PayPal. Using this way it is impossible for them to charge you after the subscription is done and you no longer need their services. Good luck finding the right one. And bare in mind that being single is probably best way of living sometimes.

If this site has 10% real users I would be surprised. As a woman, you are constantly messaged by these scammers pretending to be US military personnel on deployment, bots that try to lead you to another site and fake profiles. I don't understand why okcupid can't figure out that all of the bots on their site seem to "live" in California. How are people supposed to meet each other when everyone is fake? And not in the shallow way!

I paid for the subscription and now feel silly that I ever wasted my money.

Quite liking this dating site. Not sure it's as good as my all time fave wejustfit but it's not far off. Some really nice people on their and a good way to kill time, I just spend my commute to work firing out messages & doing searches then. By the time I get home I usually have a reply, although not always of course. Quite happy with it. B. McAuley, 27, Stirling

There is a lot to like about cupid.com, the app, the number of active users, the low cost. I tend to but a months subscription every 6 months to see how I get on, been doing that for years. Sometimes I drop off after the month, other times I keep it going. I've had a lot of luck recently with a great site called WeJustFit that's a bit more under the radar, so I've not been trying as many sites as usual, but signed up to Cupid today for my half yearly check and it's good to see

I was billed 12.88... 3 times when I only subscribed to one month. Even so after being billed for thee month thee times for 41.00 my account still was not activated. They have no customer service number. When try to access your purchases via okcupid app it only supports Google Play Pay even though they accept credit, debit and PayPal. You have to email your issue and are the told they can't reply to every request or complaint. If they feel your issue is of any worth they will reply as soon as they can on a priority basis. WOW!

Very interesting concept, well written ideas and a walk through on how to best setup an account, answer questions and build your profile.

The book, which felt more like a long paper, was a little hard to grasp at times (for someone with minimal math/statistics knowledge). The concepts are clearly explained but the author could have offered a few more examples at times.

I found lots of matches, but too many women seem to be using the site to fulfill some sort of romantic fantasy. I have little patience for chat relationships so I push for a face to face meeting - something relaxed, no committment - like a cup of coffee in a public cafe. Of the half dozen I met, all seem extraordinarily confused about what they want. In other words dabblers. Maybe it is because it is free that is what attracts them.
Is it me? No I have had much better success at another dating site reaching my goal, which is a second date with someone I want to spend time with.

Go into this very carefully. There are probably legitimate users but a LOT of potential scammers. I get a lot of messages from guys less than half my age - not too hard to figure out why, they are looking for money. Spent a lot of time talking and texting with a guy my age who said he was working on a mining project in the Ukraine - THEN problems developed and sure enough, he asked me for money. I hung up on him.

Tip for consumers:
Be very careful of scammers.

There are just so many bots and scams infiltrating these sites. Designed of course to get your email address or your IP address. OK Cupid has a ton of that going on, so just be super careful! The biggest alert is a flood of emails when you first join that are 1. From other states and 2. That use ( ladies!) the words "my dear" or long sentences without punctuation. If you delete these and stick with the local interests you should be OK, well... as OK as anyone is going to be using a dating site to meet people. Stay focused and don't forget to read between the lines. I think this site is OK for ease of use and easy start up without cost. Cheers

You can't do much as a free member, there are too many limitations and you just go round in circles with no results. But when you pay, nothing actually changes. You just burn your money. As a paid dating site OkCupid is rubbish and utter drivel! It used to be not bad when it was free. They always had certain flaws, but you don't pay attention to this when something is free. However, if it's a paid service it's fair enough to have higher requirements. OkCupid is not worth the money they want you to pay for membership. There are too many fake profiles and nearly no appropriate matches.

It seems that that there may be some real people behind the mask but it's very difficult to find them and once you do they do not write back. The new policy seems to be to greatly limit search features which is the only good thing about this service. However if you can't search by a specific query then you have to spend hours and hours searching and searching and still not finding anyone. On the other hand scammers and abusers are quick to send messages and some of these appear to be dangerous. Don't bother with OKCupid. There must be a better way!

Just about worth the outlay
Im definitely not rich so only usually try a site for the minimum subscription time and then make a decision on whether to keep it going or cancel. I took the three day option on OkCupid and figure its just about worth the small amount I paid. Will see if I feel that way after I stick around for the auto-renewal of a whole month (hate that they do that!). Tried loads of sites but the only one I pay for every single month is wejustfit.com as I actually get lucky on that one, so I know it works and dont mind paying one bit! As for this site, well see how the month compares to the three day trial but happy enough so far.

OkCupid is great but dont rule out other good options (e. G wejustfit.com etc) the bottom line here y'all is that you gotta be patient and smart enough to put the effort in if you want to arrange real dates using internet dating. Trust me y'all, it does pay off if you keep your expectations in check. Good things do come to those that wait.

Talked to some interesting girls, and hooked up once, but the site is still missing the actual amount of attractive women(1/5 are hot enough for me). Its full of lonely unattractive girls that can carry a conversation and remain in the friend zone. Its free so try it?

I talked to several men, but only met two. The second one is now my boyfriend, and we'll be moving across the country together this month. Truly, he is the most amazing, kind, loving, handsome, patient, intelligent man I have ever met. I'm blown away with how quickly I found someone (2 months), especially someone like him. I'm very, very pleased with this service. Also, it's very easy to use. I recommend it to all my single friends.

It doesn't focus on the important things, education and occupation are optional and there are thousands of other irrelevant matching questions which the answers can be changed after 24 hours. Not possible for professionals to weed out the trash.

Male here. Third week of intermittent effort and suddenly most functions inoperable. Site indicated a number of females who have expressed interest, so I pay. Instantly back to all functions and I discover that the "interest" had been reversed and I was the one who actually initiated it. Two apparently did show interest, but they were hundreds of miles away. Now
I look at the billing and it shows up on the bank statement as okcupid.com instead of the
Generic "rainbow" or some such name I had reviewed on the privacy policy, so now I have
To cancel that card. I should have guessed after seeing the affiliation with match.com, another bait and switch, keep billing after cancellation outfit I tried some years ago.

The site was once great, and now is nothing but a playground for African scammers. Most of the new users have photos of adult actresses and profile text copied from Ukraine dating sites. Once you start communicating with someone, she'll admit she's in Ghana, "Taking care of her mother" or some other tale. Of course if you sent her some money, she could come back (and she' know's you're the one for her). Stay far, far away from this site.
