“Great website!”

JONATHAN J.
1/2/13

Great website! Cool approach to the online dating world. Mostly clean well managed, Free! There are obviously things that could be improved, like server speed or conversation approaching style option expansion, but again it's free.

Top Critical Review

“Low grade, no preferences, quantity over quality with few good options”

Ghostwriter t.
10/4/24

I came onto this site twice, each time paid the monthly fee and each time my preferences were totally ignored. I am specific about what I want so that I do not have to go through 100's of men's profiles to weed out the men who smoke or want children. I find this website did absolutely nothing for me. They say no particular pictures are allowed to be posted yet they are constantly posted and low quality people are here to choose from because no one is checking the sites for quality assurance. This is the worst site as far as low level for the price, is should always be free if the site isn't doing what it claims its doing for you.

If you're a $#*!ed moron, please feel free to piss away your money on this pathetic, sack of $#*!, site. I'd rather burn my money in my $#*!, than piss it away on this utterly worthless, useless, sack of $#*! site. They, literally and I'm not kidding, do nothing for you - they take your money, shove it up a pitbull's $#*!, then snort it, all the while laughing at you. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE! If you fancy pissing away your money, please go out into the sticks, shove a shot up your arse, then light the lot on fire and call it entertainment. You've come out ahead. The only 'females' on this sight ( and I use the term loosely, based on the swing of balls) are straight up men, and only if you are straight up gay will you walk away with anything but blue balls. Run, do not walk, away from this train wreck of a site. I will accept thank yous and high fives at the local pub.

Tip for consumers:
Do not, under any circumstances, give these arseholes your money.

I used the site for less time than expected because I found a great partner faster than expected. Their algorithm is great at finding compatible people, plus they have cute personality and other tests.

Lets you do things for free that cost a lot of money on Eharmony and Match. Some of the girls are a bit snobby, but others are really down to earth. Have not had a date from here, but that's my fault, not the site.

After ending a long-term relationship, I decided to give dating another try. Meeting people isn't my strong suit and most of the guys I met in person weren't right for me. OkCupid allowed me to find exactly what I was looking for. I'm now engaged after meeting a man on OkCupid after dating for a little over a year. I highly recommend. They match you very well, he and I had a 97% match!

I was skeptical at first but decided to give it a try. Not many women responded but when a certain one did we hit it off immediately. We met, fell in love and now I can say I have found my soul mate. If you're skeptical like I was, just give it a shot. Maybe it will work for you too.

I met the perfect guy for me on okcupid :) at fist I was kind of iffy about the site, but I'm glad I went on :) we have been dating for 2 months so far, and it's been going great *knock on wood* for this site, I suggest being 100% honest with the questions, so you do find your perfect match! :)

Joined OK Cupid thinking it would be a fun way to meet new people. Immediately after signing up, I was bombarded with extremely explicit message from girls of lower than average attractiveness asking for pics. Received a lot of obvious phishing scam messages and crude crap, but never anything genuine. Best part of all: my IP was banned after 1 week after having done NOTHING wrong. I created a dummy profile right after and saw that my picture was still up and the sure had me marked as 'active'. An absolutely deplorable business practice; they should be ashamed of themselves. I found out later that Ok Cupid compiles preference data on its users and sells it to marketing corporations. I suppose they just terminated my account as soon as I had filled out enough info to make them a buck. Easily the worst dating service I've ever used(I'm hesitant to even call it a service); save yourself the grief and just use tinder.

There are way to many scammers on okc and it is hard to meet anyone close to home. Kept getting responses from peope out of state even though my profile stated that I dont do long distance relationships. This site is not for me.

I received a lot of emails and like some of these women who have made complaints, I almost fell. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't find any information on this guy in the states. Said he grew up in Cincinnati. I found his same story all over the other dating sites as well. The pictures are fake. Do not send money or give out personal information. OKCupid attracts them more because it is a free site. Anyone who tells you they are doing business in another country - please stay away. If you choose to look online, please go to a reputable website.

Nobody talks on here so can only imagine the women must get inundated with messages from men like every other site

It's better than POF but that's not saying a great deal and at least profiles are filled out

I did get 73 likes in 2 days but I needed to pay to see and can't help but think they weren't genuine likes at all

The women all seem to enjoy telling you how intelligent they are and how they're very independent and how they don't need a man in their life. I've always found that those who are intelligent don't need to tell everyone

There seems to be a lot of liberals who are on here and make it clear that unless you hold the same political viewpoint as them you're wasting your time. Such tolerance... unable to accept differing viewpoints

I'm guessing there's a correlation with the fact they've been single for years and the fact they're bleeding heart liberals. Still on the plus side most have cats so they'll be happy in their old age

Yes, there were hundreds of duds, dudes and do-dahs. But then I met my (now) husband, so nothing but warm fuzzies from me. Back when I was dating, the site worked really well, not sure how it differs now.

OKC is a great site, efficient, user friendly and funny with tons of wonderful and interesting people. However tough and specific as standards are very high there.
With OKC free doesn't mean cheap at all!

Feminine profiles are mostly from middle-age highly educated women, with strong personnalities, who have busy and dynamic lifestyle with good professional positions. Often executives or independant. Then they know exactly what they want and are indeed very selective.

Challenging but fair isn't it?

I am being scammed now. He is asking money desperately.
The most men who wrote me claimed to lose their wives or parents. And all of them have a lot of reason for not seeing each other on video chat.
So my recommendation do not send your pictures through email because they can be used for scam purposes and set a video chat in order to make sure that the person in the picture is real.

Well I got a lot of likes from girls but no way to see who are they, you have to pay for that. But Someone like me back and they send me notification "See picture, I cover her face" and they ask me to start and say something nice to her, but when I click to her profile who like me back but they say the person doesn't exist "She was so pretty too :(" and eventually ask me pay for boost my profile so I am not sure, I feel like its just for try to make me pay Monthly payment because why the profile doesn't exist if she like me back a minute before?! Anyway beside that nothing really happening. I have send many message to many girls who has about 80 to 96% match but I never got response.

Another eugenicist website run by nazis who go around censoring hetero profiles for no reason other than to feel special about how big of scumbags they are. They will scam you by charging $1 to message a person then randomly deleting your account a few days later. It's just like POF which also takes your money and censors you so I highly recommend everyone avoid both of these terrible scam sites. These are not real "free" dating websites, they are scammer $#*! failed sites of no use to anyone seeking a real relationship.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid this site, AFF and POF like the plague, they are all scammers

We all look for love, friends in this time of Corona. Virtual dating is a good option for, especially for us old codgers. OK Cupid provides a viable option. The sight does not however make your likes available until you pay an exorbitant amount of your cash. Guaranteeing nothing, like most. The pickings are pretty good and there are actually good looking intellectual men to be discovered. You do get your share of vile. This site could be better but considering some of the sites out there, this one has the possibility of you actually being able to ride into the sunset with your Knight on his donkey and that beats the stick horse.

I recently got out of a long term relationship that I actually started from meeting someone on OK Cupid about 4.5 years ago, it was a great site with great features which were mostly free with some paid options. Coming back in 2022 I see all that is gone, you now get a handful of likes a day, no way to search by interests, or at all for people nearby and pretty much everything is locked behind a ridiculously overpriced paywall. It's sad to see that a site originally made to help people connect for low to no cost is now just another corporate shill designed to squeeze cash out of lonely people.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid it

I was scammed by a man professing to live in the Us and was working in London. Said he would be home in less than 2 weeks. The went by Mike Grove, 51 of Fremont. My son became suspicious and started copying and cross checking it on the web. Not only were his emails word for word copies the mans identity he was using had died at 51 in 2013 when this Indian scammer took over his identity with someone else's photo. I was lucky, they usually start asking for money after 2 weeks to help with a problem or get them "home". Even the FBI is aware of the on line dating scams.

Im not sure when it happened but when I speak to friends about online dating now they all seem to be using cool new quirky sites (like wejustfit.com) or dating apps (like tinder, tangled, etc). Its like the big fish (OkCupid being the biggest traditionally) have almost got so well known that theyre now too vanilla! For me, I still like OkCupid and cant help the feeling that the people who say the stopped using it probably still do use it, but are acting too current too admit theyre still on it! Maybe its like how some clothes brands become so common that people deliberately start avoiding them (can you tell I work in fashion?!). Anyway ill be sticking with OkCupid, it may not be the coolest site anymore (when was online dating ever cool anyway) but its busy and thats the main thing.

The site looks good, but at one point I got to a page that if I wanted to know what someone thought of me I would need to pay a monthly or year fee! Now that does not mean I can not have contact for free, but I found it strange that in a free dating site I would have to pay. Strange have not seen other people mention this. When I sent an e mail to customer service no reply. Then a few days later my pass word and email, when login in, where not recognized! I then started to join again, at this time it told me I that my email was already used! So in fact it did recognize my address! Sent 4 mails no reply. To me it sounds like they did not liked being questioned! How can it be called free if for a service you have to pay, and how come every one recommends it as a free site if it is not. I would like to have contact with them so I can make sure that my photos and info is taken out.

Years ago it used to be a great site but it has become quite ordinary. On the bright side it is for free (although they try and lure you to pay for a membership). Conclusion: Good site if you don't feel like spending cash in a prime dating site like Mingle2day or Cupid.

Account will be blocked and removed if you dare to defend yourself from the advances of married cheaters who pay premium. OK Cupid is a playground for sexual predators with paid accounts. Pedophiles are roaming free, scammers try to collect information, pimps send recruiting auto messages, fake profiles (but paid) are dominant and they will report you if you don't do what they ask you to or you don't jump at their proposal. A site/app that punishes women who dare to defend themselves, probably ran buy the same type that use it.
