Card started getting declined for no reason when I clearly have money on the card. Have been trying to reach a representative. The automated system goes for a long time before you can press a button and then it seems to time out and doesn't recognize any button you press. To finally reach someone I chose the dispute a transaction option. It patched me through to a representative but keeps saying wait times are currently long. Curious as to how since it's so hard to even reach a representative. Once you actually get a hold of one they were pretty helpful and nice. Besides this issue I've had no problems with the card.
They opened an account in my name that I did not even had access to and charged me late fees on that, I could not even pay those fees and that affected my credit score by 40 points. I called customer service and they treated me like garbage, talked for 1 hour and they said it would take 90 days to solve my case, that my only option was to wait. They even made me pay those fees through the phone but refused to close that account that I don't have access to… guess I will have to wait 90 days and then called them back

Was looking to build a CREDIT, in which have had someone began purchases, when i just got the card and I was a new client.... LOL... This company is not something I would ever Consider, due to their MOTHER Company is a large company. This "OPEN SKY" business is a "RACKETEERING" to take the money from their own 'special-design', therefore why to WASTE your TIME, ENERGY, EFFORT, DOLLARS?
I sent them 200$ on sept 14th. As of oct 21st still havent received a card but did recieve a bill oweing their 35$ fee. Called to cancel and have to wait 5 to 6 weeks for my money back. DO NOT OPEN A ACCOUNT...
You can't even contact them via phone, email, or chat. The ONLY contact info is a mailing address. I mailed them a letter with my questions and I never heard back. SCAM! Don't send them money!
I'm reading reviews about yur company holding payments that were made on time and charging late fees and horrible customer service? I WILL NOT BE APPLYING FOR THIS CARD! I let the consumers weigh out good and bad and was looking for a prepaid to help my g/f but I see from the reviews that u have a horrible rating!
So I receive paper statements from Open sky which is where they notified me that my $38 annual fee was going to be posted on my account so by the time I had gotten it I had already spent money on the card which of course put me over 30% of my credit usage which resulted in my credit score dropping 4pts with 2 credit bureaus and 6 pts with another. When I called in the initial Service agent could not help me so she escalated me to the rudest woman that I have ever spoken to. I have no clue how she was ever promoted to supervisor. She did not help AT ALL and proceeded to talk to me like I was an idiot. Needless to say I will be paying them off and canceling this card immediately. Don't bother with open sky. Using them to build your credit is counter productive. If you wanna build Your credit use Self. They took my credit from 4 (yes it was really 4) to 722 which as you will see in the photo I provided went down to 718 thanks to open sky. Self is amazing and once you make enough payments on time they offer you their credit building credit card which has a way better app that keeps your credit score posted and your payments don't take a week to process.
Please refrain from opening a card from Open Sky. I am appalled and quite disgusted that NerdWallet and other providers have the audacity to recommend this company. Horrible. Worst company ever.
This has to be by far the worst experience I've ever been through. First off, I sent them a $200 deposit to open my credit account in order to build my credit. They opened my account and "mailed my card" 3 days after my account was opened. I never received the card. 3 weeks later I call customer service and have the card reported as lost or stolen. They "reissue the card" and "mail it out again" the same day I call. A month later... Still nothing. I call again and ask them to refund my money back to my original method of payment. NOPE, can't do that they say. We have to mail you a check that will take up to ANOTHER MONTH and can't guarantee the check will make it to me if the cards never did. Then they proceed to bribe me once with $25 credit to keep my account open and then try to bribe me with a $35 credit to keep my account open after I told them no to the first $25 credit. Then after another series of 21 questions they finally closed the account and issued me a check that is going to take a month to get here. After hanging up the phone I get an email update of my credit score saying it dropped 5 points? I'm am highly pissed off and will be taking this whole situation to a lawyer and will be suing the company. I give them a negative 5 star review.
Reporting to FBI AND CONSUMER LEGAL governor's files to investigate this process step by step, sounds highly unethical and disruptive. Bank verified they had my correct account and routing number and all phone conversations recorded

I owed nothing and payed cash until my girlfriend and I needed a loan for a home, all we need was a 650. My lowest score was 616. Opensky had good reviews so I applied, got approved, and sent my $300.00 deposit.
Now for the next two months I was told my card was in the mail. Somehow the mail returned it so they say and again tell me to watch the mail for my new card, mean while they filed with all the credit reporting agency's that I was over 30 days late and owed $62.00.and a late fee of $38.00. Lowered my score to 529 from 616. They said they will correct the credit report, now it shows I am current but also past due. There is a better way, Self Inc. you make small pymt's each month into your savings and 3 months later you get a unsecured Card.
They report each month. $35 per month in savings and shows credit card and a loan payment history increased my score 50 points to 579 in 90 days. As a authorized user my Girlfriend score went up 70 points from my Self lender account. My total cost so far was $24 fees and $125 in savings. Opensky failed to issue me a credit card and went out of their way to burn my credit so they get ONE STAR.
This stupid company put a block requesting proof of address which i sent a lease agreement credit card bill and 2 other docs. These $#*!ed idiots still wouldn't take the block off so i requested my money back and i will choose another card! I NEVER seen a credit card company so complicated and INCOMPETANT! I hate these stupid people where the hell they find these idiots especially the security dept and supervisors?
They can't be contacted and their app is terrible. They reject payments. I've confirmed I have the right information with my bank. They are all around terrible. Run for the hills.
I applied for this card because I desperately need to rebuild my credit... I was naive and careless in my early twenties and now that I'm at a point in my life where I want to buy a house and a new car, I realized my mediocre credit score was not going to do. I was scared about some of the reviews but went for it anyways. I figured $500 was a good limit to have since I read it's wise to use just 30% of your credit limit at a time and was "approved" instantly. The confirmation email I received stated I'd receive the card in the mail in 5-7 days after my payment got cleared from my bank. It took 16 days to receive the card. I activated the card and paid the $35 annual fee as soon as I got it. It took 10 days for that payment to post! I haven't used the card yet and two days ago I get an alert on my credit report that my score went up 23 points! So excited! Yes, it's annoying how long it takes to receive it and have your payment post but I think it's worth it. Like a lot of other people using it to fix their scores, I plan on using it once a month and just for small purchases; I'm closing it as soon as I feel I'm in a good place with my score. It's worth it!
These people are scam artist I never used the card at alll and am constantly being charged a late fee and late payment for a paper statement fee that they issued because Im not registered online and I cant register my account online because I have no physical card. I have tried to reach out to their customer service about the issue and they kept telling me that I owed this late payment and statement fee so I said fine I will pay it and please cancel my credit card account pay my late fees and send me back the balance. They said they would so I just wait for the refund and think that I am all good to go. A month goes by and I get another notice in the mail and Im charged another late fee. Now when I call customer service they always put me on hold for hours and I cant get any one to help. If I call from my phone on file it says that they are loses. They are ruining my good credit. I have been denied bank loans because of a late payment that I cant seem to get them to pay and close the account. My next step is to contact an attorney. It just really makes no sense all because they wont close the account. Buyers be ware of this company and stay away at all cost. I opened this card 7 months ago, I have been using 10%-30% of it and paying early. I have been checking my credit report and the card doesn't even show on my report. Totally a waste of time these months. I have read very good reviews on it which is why I got it however, it has not helped my credit at all. Every time I try calling they keep me waiting for more than an hour and I end up hanging up. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY it's a SCAM for me at this point.
There automated system never works. U can press a button and it will never connect you to a representative. Figured out a way to get a hold of someone fast after many attempts... DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS AND EVENTUALLY YOU BE CONNECTED.

I have 2 cards through open sky. One with a $500 secured deposit and my most recent with a $2590 secured deposit. I havent had problems with my $500 card so I felt comfortable opening up the additional account. I took my entire vacation fund and I put it towards having a secured credit card and so they had my deposit. I got my card days before I left for my vacation and when I was on vacation I utilized the card many many times. Every single day I had to call them and have them unfreeze my card because it was being flagged for fraud even though I was telling them numerous times that it was not fraudulent activity it was mine. I don't understand how if I'm telling them it's not fraud and I put the money up for the secured card not them why I kept getting flagged for fraud. The day before my vacation ended as I went to go purchase the rental car to go home My card was frozen and ultimately they had decided that they were going to freeze the card and terminate my business agreement with them because there were too many fraudulent red flags that had gone up even though I called in five times a day to tell him that they were not red flags. So I was unable to rent my car to get home on my vacation. I've never been waiting 3 weeks for the rest of my deposit to be mailed back to me and I don't believe that they're in any rush to do that they were sure eager to get my money but when it came down to it in the end they took my money and then just wanted to terminate our agreement for no valid reason
It ruined my entire vacation having to call that many times and being embarrassed at the cashiers every time that my card was declined. It was a $#*! show and if I can go back in time and not do it I would have just brought the cash on my vacation like I should have or kept it on my cash app card.

It's best if you keep a low credit limit when you sign on with this company. Like I said I didn't have any problems with my smaller amount card of $500.00.

This company is terrible I mean literally terrible! They just erased my review I had gave this horrible company a $200 deposit over a month ago and have yet to receive my credit card! I've called the customer service number provided on their website and there's never a live person, so what I did was call the bank (capital bank not capital one) their associated with and had to speak with one of the staff members there. They asked for my information including my SSN (which i did not give because it seemed odd) they told me they were going to email "OpenSky" so they can resolve my issue. Honestly, both of these companies are full of it I'm calling business of bureau ASAP and if you're having the same issue you need to call too I honestly wished I looked at the reviews before giving them my hard earned money! This company should not be able to do this and I don't understand why experian would even recommend this horrible company smh l. Please save your money! Try another real better credit card company!
Of course we know its a secured card. However my card was canceled by them with no explanation. Called for reasoning. After 30+ minutes I speak to someone with broken English. They claim I sent a letter requesting for a deposit to be refunded. I told I did not request this action but they insisted to the contrary. I said okay send me a copy of this letter for my records and they said they would. 7 days later I called back and 30+ minutes later I speak to someone who does not understand the words coming out of my mouth. I request to speak with someone who can actually understand me. Was told I would receive a call in about a hour from someone who could clear this up. DID NOT HAPPEN! Next day receive a check for my deposit back without the copy of the earlier stated letter! Called and after 2 hours of transferring I was told to destroy the check and everything was straightened out. Now next day received another letter stating there was no letter of requesting the deposit and they made a mistake! Another phone call, they apologize for the whole ordeal but did nothing. Have not used card and receive a statement for s balance of $200! Called again and they made a claim I cashed the check so to keep my account I would have pay the $200 balance. However, when I say I still have the check, did not destroy per the request, everything changed and all was restored. Tried to scam and it backfired on them. If not for the credit score hit I would cancel the card! A scam of s company! Beware.

It's astonishing this card is featured on Credit Karma. Trusting the recommendation, I applied online. At the end of the process, they require a credit cart for the security deposit.
But they haven't approved the card yet. There is no agreement. I submitted the info and the charge immediately went through.
Then they said they needed to verify my identity.
In other words, they charged me the deposit/security money without a formal agreement.
I recently moved and my information is not updated. It will take months for me to verify my address.
But now I'm screwed. They basically stole $400. The charge is complete. The only path to communicate with them is through a page on their website that says I need to verify my identity.

I'm sure getting my money returned will take enormous effort. It may be impossible.
It's truly shocking this card is listed on CREDIT KARMA or anywhere else.

Fortunately, charging money without an agreement is wire fraud. This is not a civil crime. It's a penal one. I suspect they have stolen a lot of money.
I will be contacting the Attorney General's of every state as well as the Justice Dept and the FBI.
