Be aware of false advertisement Poshmark allows. I bought pajama showing both top and pants on the picture and I only received the top. Poshmark is not helping me with this issue. They won't allow me to return it and get money back. I totally overpaid for a used piece of pajama top.

I made a purchase and received the item. It had the wrong tag. The item listing clearly said it was Brand new/ New With Tags. Poshmark's definition of NWT states it is an unused/ unworn item with the tags not removed. How did I get a sweater claiming to be NWT if the tag on the garment does not belong to it!? The original tag was REMOVED and a replacement tag of a different size was added onto the garment. I ONLY asked to be compensated for the shipping, $7.11, as I looked for and intended to ONLY purchase a NWT GARMENT! I would never have made the purchase and thus paid shipping for any item unless it was NWT. The seller "claimed" it came that way. Her Acknowledgement of the tags not matching the garment, is her admission of her misrepresentation of the item as NWT by anyone's definition, and one which is clearly expressed in the definition posted on Poshmark's website. PROOF. Proof that was disregarded. She addmitedly and knowingly misrepresented it and got away with it! I am still soooooo pissed that I purchased some lying, skanks used garment because of her willfull misrepresentation. Do not be fooled into believing that Poshmark will help you. They will not look at the proof you send! There is no phone number to contact anyone. I was unaware at the time of my purchase and see that now as a HUGE red flag. I sent the proof, twice, to Poshmark Corporate without any response.
As to that seller, I hope one day she is on the other end and gets scammed herself! BIG TIME. Then she can see what it's like to be taken advantage of.

Tip for consumers:
Don't buy from them unless you are willing to spend your money and not have any recourse for a fair resolution to sellers' misrepresenting items. I've read many complaints where the seller is scammed also with no compensation. However, I can only speak to my experience as a buyer.

Products used:
Clothing, one time and one time only!! First purchase was misrepresented and got ZERO help from anyone at POSHMARK INCLUDING CORPORATE!!!! Never had the courtesy of a response to the two corespondences I mailed. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!! Fool me once with no resolution is enough for me. I only wanted $7.11 cents, the shipping cost because I would NEVER HAVE bought it and paid the shipping to receive someone's used garment.

I've bought many things on Poshmark, and returned about 10% of the items due to misleading descriptions. In each case, Poshmark refunded my money.
1) Many Poshers are not honest. I've learned over the years that as a buyer you need to ask questions and confirm things like No Stains, No Tears or Defects.
2) Many of the Poshers don't photograph the whole item. So I ask for pictures of corners, the bottom of a handbag and for lined handbags for them to pull out the lining and photograph that too.
3) The trouble is the ONLY means of communication are through comments. There's no way to email a seller. So when you have an issue or the seller is nonresponsive, those comments are for everyone to see - I don't feel good about that. I would prefer contact via email.
This week I purchased a new wallet and no response from the seller. I finally emailed Psohamrk, they emailed the seller to remind them to ship and the seller has not responded to Poshmark or me. I have to wait until the 8th day to cancel - that's a pain. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CHARGE FOR SHIPPING

4) Shipping takes a long time. 90% of the time I have to leave a comment to get them to ship before 7 days.

5) Poshmark does not hold their buyers to any type of standard.

I will be canceling my Postmark account after I cancel this last order and get a refund. With so many choices like E-Bay, Amazon, and Tradesy I see no reason to put up with poor service, late shipments, and non-responsive sellers.

My ADVICE - Shop on e-Bay!

Let me start off by saying I actually started using Poshmark in 2012 when it was a start up app. I have since created an account with a massive following, I am a top 10% user with an average of 4.8 stars on the sale of hundreds of items over the years. I have been honest and credible in my transactions and have sold items both in low range of $10 to luxury brands in the $1000s. I am writing this complaint due to Poshmark's complete negligence and disregard for the complaints from honest sellers like myself and others who have come forward and are reporting the countless accounts who are continuing to freely sell counterfeit goods on Poshmark's app. One seller of these counterfeit goods retaliated against me by reporting my listings, writing harassing and threatening comments all over my listings, creating fake accounts to impersonate me and publicly share my personal information, all the while continuing to create several new Poshmark accounts on which they sold several counterfeit Chanel items. I filed a minimum of 50 reports and I sent a minimum of 20 e-mails to Poshmark support to no avail. Other sellers who were experiencing the same harassment had communicated directly to me that they were also complaining to Poshmark. In response, I received a condescending response from a rep at Poshmark acknowledging that they are well aware that counterfeit goods are sold on their website. Furthermore, they retaliated against me for whistle blowing against this illegal activity by removing some of my authentic goods which were reported by these scammers and freezing my account. Needless to say, I am extremely frustrated and have decided to escalate my concerns, because everything I have mentioned before is highly illegal - selling counterfeit goods, facilitating and monetizing off the sale of counterfeit goods, cyber threats, and identity theft. If you have faced similar issues, I suggest you file complaints with your state and California's (where Poshmark is located) Attorney General, the FBI's IC3 which handles cases involving counterfeit sales, the BBB, and if you are feeling in danger as I have, your local authorities.

There's nothing positive about being a seller on Poshmark. The shipping is $5.95 regardless of the item, and that money goes straight into the website's pocket. Buyers give dirt-cheap offers and waste your time by asking questions in the comments that are given in the description, most often with no payoff whatsoever.

Not only that, but the visibility of your items is determined by how often you participate on the community by sharing other people's closets and following more people than you can even keep track of. Within an hour of opening my account, at least 30 people--obviously robots--were 'following' me. That's how they keep people addicted to their site and distracted by how terrible its set up is. Poshmark is a lot like Facebook in that it all comes down to how popular you are. Poshmark tries to be a community but really is just a timesink with a poor interface, unenforced rules, and no public rating system behind sellers, leaving Poshers to taking a gamble with every purchase.

Here's my buyer experience: After using Poshmark and being a loyal customer for months, I purchased a shirt that was a complete different color then the one advertised. When I tried to return it, Poshmark took five days to "process the request." After 5 days, they said they needed more pictures. That's all- no elaboration whatsoever. The worst part is that I was only given 2 days to take these pictures. So: Poshmark gets 5 days to twiddle its thumbs and do nothing, while I only get 2 days to take more pictures.

I was on a vacation when I got their blunt email and missed the ridiculously short deadline. When I contacted them about the unfair discrepancy they responded coldly and without offering any help whatsoever. No apology, no effort to better the situation. Just a blunt "Thank you for your concerns, but the time window has passed. Please enjoy your item." So rude!

I felt very disrespected. This is how they treat a loyal customer who has sunk hundreds into their business? After that I deleted my Poshmark account, and I won't be looking back again. Stick to Ebay and Amazon: Poshmark is absolute garbage.

I love the classic styles of Nine West pumps. I was driven to the Poshmark app through Pinterest. I found some well taken care of shoes on the site. Im in a transition period in my life and found that purchasing from the site allowed me to afford to appear that I was not going through a bumpy time in my life. I attempted to purchase Silver pumps from 3 different sellers on 3 different occasions for my birthday. The first pair was lost in the mail. Second pair was purchased, never shipped. Third pair, purchased at asking price, never shipped. The seller has a full week to ship. During that time my money is held until I receive the package. Well, if Im on a budget and see another item or the same from another seller, my money is stuck and Im at the mercy of the seller until they decide to ship, or not. I run the risk of losing that purchase to another buyer. And yet as a buyer, if I dont release the funds for the seller, they take my funds after three days. But some of the sellers have inactivity for a time. What that means I dont know. Are they sick? Are they incapacitated? But my question is, if you have an online store, who is minding the store while buyers are purchasing? I queried a few buyers from some I tried to buy from and they never received their packages either. Yes we are refunded, but instead of taking the buyers through all of this why not hold sellers to an activity boundary? If there has been no activity in 7 days, make the account of the seller inactive UFN. I can bypass and buy items from active buyers. Its simple! And the Customer Service team is ridiculous. Reading from a script, very Stepfird Wife-ish. Could be a great tool for those re-entering the workforce on a budget or just going through a rough time in life. The items are nice and most are kept well. If a person doesnt have to look like what they are going through, its a good thing for their esteem. Most dont think about those things until its them. Poshmark needs to re-think their policies and procedures.

I have bought and sold many items on Posh. I LOVED it. Then one day a lady buys my listing for a brand new pair of shoes. The listing had pictures of the shoes and the box, the box stated the brand and the size in men's Eur etc. The listing was under Vans for exposure, which I clearly stated in the description and said the true brand (even though the pictures showed it CLEARLY). I also had the listing under size 8.5, the box says 6, which I assumed was men size but I'm a girl and size 8 and these were a tad bit big-- also the box said Eur 38.5, so an 8, but again they were big on me so listed as 8.5. I wrote in the description that they were an 8.5 or 8. This lady complains FIRST that they were the wrong size, I emailed Posh back stating that they were not and showed pictures of my listing to prove it, didn't hear anything back. The next day I get an email that she sent ANOTHER complaint that they were not vans. I sent Posh an email back stating that I provided clear pics and wrote clearly that they were not Vans but similar, heard nothing back. I then sent a strongly worded email explaining why I was pissed and they just replied "we approved the case because you misrepresented the size." WHAT. No I did not, I replied explaining how that was total BS and still haven't heard back. Got 2 emails since though explaining that the shoes were being sent back to me and the money has been taken out of my account. Side note- when I sent a complaint about a purchase I made because I ordered a size S she sent me a size L and another item was damaged, they offered me $15 to just keep the items and not have them go through the hassle of them dealing with me sending them back... So ridiculous I do not trust them with my items anymore.

I am confused by all the people who are angry they couldn't return something when it didn't fit or they simply didn't like it - you are buying something from an individual person, not a huge company or store. Poshmark is simply the tool connecting the two. Their frustration seems misplace because they wish the site worked in a way that it is not designed to do. If you want to be able to return something, buy it from an actual store. Anyways, my issue is with the site design and overall functionality which is poor. For example, if you use their "offer to likers" tool to offer a discount, you can only do so once every 90 days however nowhere does the site even mention this rule. So you can try to offer another, lower price and it simply won't let you do so without explaining why. Also, they will fill your feed with listings from people you don't follow - I'm sure based on some algorithm but it is incredibly frustrating because I hate going on my feed and seeing all this hideous crap I never would have liked in a million years. What is the point of following people if Poshmark is just going to show you some other stuff instead? There is no way to opt out of this so I've just started blocking those sellers so their stuff doesn't show up anymore. I feel like this site is designed by people who have never actually used the tool because there are many nonsensical attributes to it that make browsing for things very tedious and unenjoyable. Lastly, people will low ball you to death and that really takes some of the fun out of selling things. No, I will not sell you these $130 boots for $30. I wish Poshmark allowed sellers to set a minimum % of an offer in which they would consider accepting. That way it would weed out people who are basically trying to get things for free.

I purchased an item that was falsely advertised - a pair of jeans that were being sold as "very stretchy", when in fact they had no stretch in them at all. I question whether they were actually an authentic pair of designer jeans as all the jeans I have come across from this particular brand have always been a good quality and stretchy material, which was nothing like the pair I was sent. These particular jeans retail for $500 and I can assure you that the quality of the material in the jeans I was sent was nowhere near the quality of a pair of jeans that would be worth $500. I sent a request to Poshmark to return the item as their return policy specifically mentions that "A buyer may open a case with us if they don't receive their item or the item they receive is not as described within the listing." I felt that I had definitely been mislead by the seller's ad saying that the jeans were very stretchy. The seller repsonded and actually admitted that the fabric, in fact, didn't contain much stretch but she had added the description that they were 'very stretchy' because that is how the designer brand described this particular item on their website. I was then told by Poshmark that they wouldn't accept my dispute because I should have asked the seller more specific questions about the fabric before making my purchase. If the seller is describing the product as 'very stretchy' then I would assume if I asked her if the product was 'very stretchy' then she would have to say yes as that is how she described them. I will never purchase anything from Poshmark again as I believe they are allowing false advertising and possibly fake products to be sold on their site. If it seems to good to be true, it usually is! Very Sketchy - not very stretchy!

If you want to spend 5x the energy listing and sharing your items than you do on most other online sales sites and communities, Poshmark is for you. Hate well-organized shopping sites with advanced search capabilities? Poshmark is designed with you in mind.

You'll also like it if you don't mind at least half of your purchases arriving late or being cancelled with no explanation. Oh, and if you enjoy idiosyncratic, unprofessional customer service.

Still not sure if Poshmark is for you? It is if you love to spend 10x as long shopping online... many of the "closets" of items to choose from are "abandoned," so you'll either never get a response to Qs or you'll actually buy something and it will never be processed. Poshmark thus brings a much-needed "surprise" element to your shopping!

It helps if you also enjoy listings without basic info like materials, brand, etc., and if you like a good 50% of your purchases arriving damaged or broken, with another 15% being sent to someone else. Needed a dress for a wedding? Lucky you! You got someone else's bathing suit instead. Plus you'll need a last-minute replacement b/c your dress won't arrive in time from the other buyer. Refund for the trouble? Nah. Your item was delivered as promised! (They didn't promise it would get to YOU - but it *did* arrive somewhere else across the country. What did you expect?)

Still interested? If you aren't occupied enough with your other social media accounts, have time to burn, and are looking to find a new family, not just a new purse, then you're in luck! With Poshmark, if you want to be a successful and "trusted" seller, you get to spendhours cultivating by finding, liking, and sharing other people's closets (and don't forget the motivational quotes, sharing games, and parties! Who needs straightforward shopping when you can be having fun with your new Posh family instead?)

What's that? It must be cheaper shipping and lower commission fees for anyone to put up with all the crap?

Nope! Higher fees and shipping. What more do you need? Thanks, Poshmark!

Tip for consumers:
Sites like Tradesy and even eBay are a MUCH better bet for sellers -- fewer fees, easier item listing, and you have better protection if someone tries to scam you. You also won't have to spend hours trying to cultivate your new Poshmark "family" just to get page views. (If you don't have hundreds or thousands of followers, good luck trying to sell anything. You'll see crap being sold for 5x your asking price, just because they're connected within the desperate Poshmark social networking "family.

I've been selling with Poshmark since late 2016 and their shipping prices started out at an okay level, 5.99 wasn't too bad, but not fabulous either. It's since rised to $7.11, and they probably are going to raise it again. I've noticed my sales have dropped exponentially because of this... and on top of that, they're charging taxes, too? They really should only be doing that for NWT items due to the fact that it's like selling at a garage sale or yard sale, people are paying pennies on the dollar for used items that the person selling them for paid way more for.

I really like their platform, but this shipping thing has got to change. When you HAVE to pay shipping on a product that weighs literally less than a quarter of an ounce, like, for instance, a ring or something, you shouldn't have to pay a huge shipping fee. And if the seller offers free shipping, guess who has to pay that?

There's other options for shipping... they need to seriously integrate it into their platform because now that it's so high, I sell nothing because nobody wants to pay that much for shipping.

Mercari has it right with their shipping practices, but I'm reading absolute terrible reviews and am only two weeks in with selling with them and am scared now the items I have sold on there are just going to be returned damaged or they'll get to keep it and I don't get anything for my item. I've seen people say that about Poshmark, but I'll tell you what, I've never had that happen, not even once. I've never had a return rejected to the buyer even when I proved that the item I sent was not damaged, so I'm wondering what these sellers are saying that lets them keep their money. I take pictures, sometimes video of me packing the box and taking it to the darn post office proving it seriously wasn't damaged or the wrong item... out of 10 returns, not one of them was denied... so, I'm a little confused there.

Either way... I'm a little disheartened by this whole selling online thing now because Mercari sucks now, Poshmark is too expensive, they charge way too much for their fees, shipping, and now taxes. They should pay their own taxes.

Verified purchase

Poshmark has been known to not give your money back on a purchase you did not like, based on who your purchasing from if you purchase a product that you did not like based on a cheaply made product or for whatever reason when you get it home, from a seller who sells lots, you will not get your refund. Why? Because they make 20% on every purchase from that person and if that seller sells lots of of items for good money, thats a lot of money Poshmark makes, so they are less likely to give you your refund on something you did not like. I personally bought two cheaply made purses from a lady who claims her purses to be luxury and yes she takes a quick screenshot in which i never get to see, only seen buy Poshmark after you make a complaint which by the way isnt fair either. When i got these purses home, they had a bad scent, they were cheaply made which by the way, you can't feel them over pictures. I explained this to poshmark i wanted a refund which by the way, i never ask for refunds on anything i have ever purchased. This seller makes Poshmark lots of money because she sells her luxury purses for good money. So poshmark wont refund my little $58 because they get 20% of that and 20% of tons of money just from this one person along with all other embassadors on their which by the way, this seller happens to also been an embassador. So be careful when you buy from Poshmark. They also rip you off and are not fair with refunds and if you want to give a review on the person who sold you a bad product because you weren't refunded. What is that all about? So poshmark is trying to save these embassador sellers from getting bad reviews and not giving you refunds from them. Be careful with Poshmark and their unfairness and ripping people off

Tip for consumers:
Poshmark.com is not fair on refunding you from embassador sellers because they make 20% on all their sales and if they make lots of money from them, they will not refund your money when you didn't get what you thought you were getting

I joined poshmark about a month ago and have enjoyed it. I joined to get rid of clothes I have worn and no longer wear to make some extra $$. I have read a lot of poor reviews and here is the thing: If you are buying something and the product looks fake or the seller seems sketchy DO NOT BUY IT. That isn't Poshmarks fault. Whether you are a buyer or seller have a relationship with the person you are selling to/buying from. If they never answer or refuse to post a picture of the wear tear (if there is any) then DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Use the "about" button to see their average ship time. If they have sold hundreds of items and they have lots of love notes and their ship time is 1-3 days you are definitely in the clear--but if they have three listings from a year ago and their "Chanel" bag looks fake and their ship time is 6 days stay away. Use your brain. As a seller it isn't as easy as just taking a picture and letting it sit. There are literally millions of users on poshmark... so YES you do have to share other clothes and befriend other sellers. I have two jobs and I posh on the side and it really isn't that difficult... you do have to put effort into it but you have to put effort into any job, relationship, school, etc etc. I like poshmark. It is what you make of it. And even though I have only been on here a month I have sold several things. I list it correctly and I have gotten 5 stars all around. Just use your brain and if you dont want to work at selling your clothes then it will probably be hard to sell them ANYWHERE. If you are a buyer be SMART! Read reviews and ask the questions (true to size, any wear and tear, style numbers, fabric, etc etc etc). I am a fan of poshmark because it is something fun I do on the side where I can make some extra cash. It's also great because the clothes I never wear that I have kept in good condition can be loved by someone else!

I am new to Poshmark and prior to this purchase I had only bought one item. That purchase was great however the next one not so much. I was looking specifically for a flannel shirt and the title of the item stated it was a Flannel shirt. When I got the item in the mail and realized it was not flannel I immediately tried to contact Poshmark. You only have 3 days to contact Poshmark and then there is no way to contact them. I notified them of my problem nicely. They responded that I needed pictures of the item. I sent back the sellers listing pictures. They again said they needed more pictures which seemed ridiculous. I sent more. After my first attempt reaching out to Poshmark the seller contacted me to see what the problem was. This was done on the purchase page not through any direct email. I explained to her why I was disappointed. I never heard back from her. I got another response from Poshmark stating "Our review found that the item is consistent with the listing, therefore we were forced to deny the return. Moving forward we recommend reaching out to the seller for more photos or ask further clarifying questions if needed. " I responded again asking how the item was consistent with the listing since it WAS NOT flannel. I never got another response. I tried to contact the seller and there is not way to send a direct email to them. I asked via comments if she could give me her email so I could send a private message. She told me to just comment on her page. She then proceeded to be totally rude in her response and ended by saying she doesn't know what I wanted from her since Poshmark denied my problem with the item. I commented back and never heard from her again. I have bought and sold items on Ebay for years and never had this problem. I, as a seller, wouldn't treat anyone this way if I made a mistake. I had hoped for some understanding, an apology, a discount, or a return. But I got nothing but negativity all the way around. Now, that Posmark settled the problem (even though they didn't) I have no way to get ahold of them. There is no place to write a review for the seller either. I DO NOT recommend Poshmark!
