Be aware of false advertisement Poshmark allows. I bought pajama showing both top and pants on the picture and I only received the top. Poshmark is not helping me with this issue. They won't allow me to return it and get money back. I totally overpaid for a used piece of pajama top.

Everyone on site jabber complains about EVERYTHING. I dont even trust the negative reviews on here anymore because Ive heard so many bad things about companies Ive had great experiences with.
First and foremost, Poshmark is fantastic. I love this app. Buying and selling is a breeze. If you have any disputes about an item you received not being as described, do not contact the seller, contact Poshmark and immediately let them know. Make sure you do this before you accept the package! Like ALL second hand sites, once you accept the package its a done deal, you cannot do anything anymore.
Poshmark is a friendly community of people thats about networking and developing rapport with your customers, unlike other sites where you literally just sell the item and leave it at that. Its way easier to sell on here as you can bump, or share, your item to the top of a feed as many times as youd like where as other sites, youd have to pay for this feature. Granted you can only share it with your followers but its really easy to gain followers and if you dont want followers, they have posh parties where you can share your items an unlimited number of times and itll reach every posher on the app attending the party. As for high prices, every selling site has high prices. This is because buyers have the option to barter. If youve ever sold anything, Im sure you know there are A LOT of low ballers out there. This higher price allows for someone to offer a lower price closer to what the seller originally wanted to sell it for. This is not a new practice. This is done by every seller ever who offers bartering on their products. I highly recommend you try it out for yourself before you let these negative nancies ruin your perspective of Poshmark.

In spite of the reviews about Posh being on the side of the sellers, they are very harsh with sellers and issue warnings TO SELLERS when the CUSTOMER doesn't like the item or buys the wrong size (not sure how the seller can help that). They tell buyers no refunds or returns but have NO PROBLEM dashing off a return when any buyer of MINE wants one. I had to move mountains to return the WRONG ITEM and get a refund when it was my turn as a buyer.

Also note that you only get so much leeway - more than 3 complaints in 12 months and you are suspended. You have to ship in TWO DAYS (hard to do on a 3 day weekend with no post office. It can be done and you CAN make money but know going in it is no better than Ebay or Etsy and very little forgiveness depending on which end of the transaction you are on and the day of the week.

I'm not crazy about the whole socializing and parties and sharing thing. I'm not there to make friends, I'm there to shop and sell. There is also a large percentage taken from the sale so you may not make as much money as you would on say Ebay or Etsy. Unfortunately, (like Ebay these days) folks are encouraged to have "boutiques" of new item items usually factory wholesale items the sellers buy from China that are badly made of cheap materials. I'm also not a fan of stock photos (forbidden on Ebay) instead of a picture of the actual item I will be getting.

BUT... there are options to TRADE items (which Ebay forbids), you can "bundle" (put together bulk purchases) to save on the flat rate shipping and can make offers if you don't like the price. The small sellers on the site have better offerings (better brands, more selection, faster shipping, higher end) than on Ebay and Posh is formatted for those more comfortable with taking photos with their phone and texting (I'm not - I prefer to type on a PC to get the details).

At first this seemed like a nice site - kind of like an eBay for clothes but they have other stuff. The stuff I bought all smelled like someone wore it on an all night (maybe all week) date - stale perfume and sweat and in one case marijuana. But I washed it because I figured it would be more of a hassle to return. There were a couple of items that never shipped, and they make you wait a period of time and then you can hit cancel and get your money back. But there was one seller, krystalrose619, who had the system down. They took my money and then marked the item as shipped. It never actually shipped mind you. Other stuff that I did buy in the past shipped and a tracking number appeared on the site. You could tell there was never any activity at the post office. It just always said that was coming soon but it never did. I contacted the seller and she played dumb and said to ask Poshmark and Poshmark, when they finally did get back to me they said to contact the seller. So I disputed with my payment method and won and the order showed as "CANCELLED" so I thought all was good. No earrings ever came. The whole experience made me need to take a break from that site for a couple of months. So this week I decided to give it another try. I have been able to do everything on the site but buy - I get a message that there is a problem and to contact Poshmark support. There is no chat or phone number - you have to email. I googled the error and found a reddit and another thread where MANY people were discussing it and apparently I got banned over that. No one ever contacted me saying I was banned, that I did anything wrong, or to get my side of the story. Poshmark is a suspicious site anyway as soon as you mark your item as received they try and get you to immediately sell it again. So that tells me they value sellers over buyers. The other people on those threads said Poshmark never contacted them to fix the problem and they were just unable to buy from that site ever again with no due process. I decided I was better off so just permanently cancelled my account. I will not due business with a site that would rather see me lose money, cancel me for trying to prevent myself from being stolen from, and then have zero due process or communication about the matter. Look at the number of stars they have on here and several other sites.

Anyone on here giving high level of stars is probably one of the Poshmark staff trying to keep the website in business.

Jordin B who left a review on here has absolutely NO idea what she is talking about. Sellers who are honest, hardworking and ethical are NOT rewarded for this behavior.

Jordin B apparently likes to play the game of the seller marking up the price and then getting them down so they feel like they are getting a good deal? Jordin is being scammed if that is what she is doing. Marking up the price higher than you want so someone can feel like they have "bartered" you down is such a joke and a waste of time.

I list my products at far below what they are worth and I still get people trying to get me to go lower? Buyers don't even think about the fact that sellers deserve to get a fair price and not be ripped off by someone who is driven by greed.

Sellers are abused by buyers and Poshmark allows it. Just read all the reviews on here and on "pissed off" website to see how many sellers have been scammed by buyers who lowball them until they get them down on the price and then damage their items so they can either keep them or get a refund.

This just happened to me again and this time it was by a buyer named: lilli1982 who harassed me with lowball offers saying she "really wanted the boots." She then wanted me to lower the listing price so she could get reduced shipping and is now claiming the boots are so damaged they are not wearable? I am a 5 star rated seller, why would I just now decide to send out a pair of unwearable boots? Are you serious? There were 4 photos and I answered every question that was asked and Poshmark already approved the return without even hearing from me or seeing the boots.

I've been buying and selling for about a month, and so far, so good. But you have to know what their policies and guidelines are, follow them, and if something seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. I also wouldn't buy anything really high end, regardless of their guarantees. Also, for a lot of things, you can find similar items, from different sellers. So if its something you want, look around and get a feel for what it sold for originally, and what others are selling it for. Know what your getting, and whether or not its a fair price for what it is.

Also, check out seller's feedback. If it's all positive, and it shows they ship quickly, chances are, you won't get scammed. And in return, be honest about the condition of the items you sell. And detailed. I may be guilty of too much detail, but I don't want there to be any question as to the condition of something I sold. If there are flaws, be up front, and also price accordingly.

As for pricing; don't expect top dollar, even in new condition. I've sold items and seen (same thing, maybe different pattern) NWT listed for much more. Be realisitc as to what you can get for something.

As for the lowballers, scammers, etc. I usually just respond politely, or if its an offer, either counter or decline. But I don't let it get to me. And yes, it is work. I also work FT, so sometimes I don't really feel like liking and sharing, etc. Which is fine since I'm not in any hurry to sell my stuff.

I joined to try and thin out my closet, and make some $$ in the process. While I've only sold a small percentage of what's in my Posh closet, I have nothing but great feedback, and nice notes.

So overall, I like the site, and how they operate, but you have to be aware of how they work, and so on.

I am strictly a buyer- I don't think I would want to sell on Poshmark since their take is 20%.
THE GOOD:
*I have located items from many seasons past that I have been searching for FOR YEARS, new with tags! It's a rush to find a long-sought jewel in the rubble heap and for a great price (I don't buy high-end designers, but vintage-y, boutique pieces from shops like Anthro circa 10 years ago).
*If you are looking for a specific item you are almost guaranteed to find at least one- there are millions of listings.
*Since every post allows you to make an offer, you can get pretty great deals.
THE BAD:
*Because of the high % fee retained by Poshmark, some sellers don't want to go down even a couple bucks. I can understand this, but for a used (even in good shape) item you need to be aware the true value is what others are willing to pay, not what you originally paid (or more).
*The social "sharing" aspect. It's kind of annoying and stupid and gamey. I will share users listings to be nice, but I really don't care for all the notices that I'm being "followed" or my listing was shared. I'm here to shop, not be all Social Media hook er.
THE UGLY:
*SHIPPING. FREAKING $6.49 no mATTER WHAT THE ITEM. I can't buy jewelry because it's so ridiculous. I hesitate to buy cheap things too because shipping will sometimes be half the cost. The SHIPPING IS THEFT.
*Users who have no been active for a time period NEED to be inactivated or something on their listings should indicate they have not been active. You can see on the app when a user was last active. If there is no date, I think you can assume it's been a LONG time. But other than that (you really have to dig for this) you can place an order and have no idea if the other person is even "there." It's such a simple thing, PM really needs to fix!

Overall I have had pretty good experiences, not been scammed, sellers have been pretty nice (some don't answer questions in listings which is annoying, considering PM expects buyers to do this), shipping is quick once sellers get around to it. I will continue to use it but I would buy so much more if shipping were reduced!

"Agresale" (Alexa Moiso) of Oregon advertised a pair of shoes saying:
In good condition. Does have wear in interior from use as shown in pictures. A few creases near front toes. Material is patent leather. Heel height is approx. 3". I personally think these run slightly small and would fit best for a size 9."

$40 plus $6.49 shipping (which they asked - you can make offers which I didn't realize) I paid and upon arrival they fit like a true 9.5! I'm a 9 so I contacted seller and seller said:

I'm sorry they didn't work for you! I'm an 8.5 and thought they ran slightly small for a 9.5. I am unsure of what to do for you as there are no returns unless there is a flaw with the item.~agresale
*******@maureensharib maybe you can email poshmark and see what you can do? You can always resell them yourself as well.

I did as suggested and here's poshmark's response:
Have reviewed the case you submitted for order "j. Crew valentina patent d'orsay pumps". Unfortunately, this case does not qualify for a return because:
- unfortunately, this does not qualify for an item not as described return per our guidelines
- sizing can vary by fit and was not misstated by the seller
- moving forward, we highly encourage prospective buyers to ask as many questions as possible before making a purchase, including exact measurements, materials, etc
- Item can be re- listed and sold in closet

When I tried to contact the seller again the seller had blocked me.

I'm NOT a poshmark seller - will not be a poshmark buyer again in the future and encourage you not to be a poshmark buyer in the future based on this case of bait and switch and self-dealing on poshmark's part.

First how I found this is because I wanted to know what was wrong with posh or was something reported about their systems going down or what. I have had a lot of sales lately even though thats good I still had a feeling. These people got some good stuff wah cheap I had a sale. But I started to notice some were preassuring me for lowball offers that I wouldn't except. Not to mentioned after being bumbarded by the follow me game that sounded childish I didn't want to be involved in every now and then someond eould appear and so call give me advice in a bossy way. Something strange the other day someone messaged me after I listed an item and asked me to email them, I didn't how ever I left them a message on the item and their message deleted in thin air like it wasn't there. So today I get a notice that my funds are in, when I went to get them nothing was there so that brings me back to WFT! I see everyone complaining about my experiences oh yea and one lady kept taging herself on my item and when I did it to hers see wantef to know what the he! I did it for. Whom are these people. I'm starting to believe these posh developers are behind this. I will let it be known about my future experience.

I opened an account with Poshmark and had about 15 items I listed that were brand new, high end with tags on them. It was an investment of time to photograph and list each item in detail. Within a couple days Poshmark had sent me several auto generated emails for each item saying they were removing due to counterfeit listings. I was shocked and frustrated. They also suspended my account, so strange. After all that work and reaching out to them for over 2 weeks with no response I felt was a terrible system. It seemed apparent most things were automated which leaves big gaps in customer service. Someone finally contacted me and re instated my account. By this point I had donated most of those items to a good place. Since then I kept one higher dollar item up, and it sold in the past week. Here is where the real problems have showed up. When you sell your first item you need to go through some steps to verify your personal credentials. Upon doing this I kept getting an error message with my phone. I've tried about 10 times over the past week to input this and reach out to them for help. All the while your suppose to ship your item within 2 days. They would not let me ship to the buyer as I don't have any way of contacting this buyer to let them know about the delays. I kept receiving once again auto generated messages that did not help resolve my issue. It appears some of those messages may have been sent from a customer service representative who was complacent in helping me fully and copy/pasted a general trouble shoot ( which i've done over and over with no luck). Terrible customer service, terrible can I emphasize that more. I can't believe I would be paying them for all this trouble from a item that I own. At this rate I can't imagine them being very successful or sustainable company long term, wow! I would highly consider another company to do business with and sell you personal items through before wasting your time. Im not surprised they get very poor review on here from across the board. It's too much work to invest your time, energy into to reach dead ends like this. Im posting this for the benefit of others as I really didn't want to invest any more time with this company in any regard. If anyone knows of other companies where you can sell your clothing too online that are respectable and good so all can benefit here, please chime in!

Some of my purchases have been worthwhile, ( high end purses) BUT
There are sellers who lie, take photos that do not show the true condition, ( as in leather photos are taken with light reflecting off of, or on the good side).
I have had sellers claim the article was ‘brand new,' ‘unworn,' and received dirty well worn second hand shoes in the mail.
I had a seller advertising a trench coat ‘in excellent like new condition,' what arrived was missing the belt, had puckered seams, ( overheating and irreversible heat damage from being washed and dried on high in the dryer) with stains on the back, loose and pulled threads, wrinkled.
Or, in excellent condition, an Aritzia scarf- what I got: a pilled, worn scarf.
I would say about 60% of my purchases had an issue, half of which I either dealt with, ( giving away, disposing of, repairing, altering) or, if the deception was especially disgusting as in the shoes, trench coat I demanded a refund.
Sellers generally go to thrift stores, ( they are known as pickers) and pick out anything relatively nice, some are ridiculous, a recent post was a pair of leggings in ‘good condition with pulls, for $19.99, a cheap well known brand.
Overall I would say there is no guarantee you won't be ripped off, for the few good finds I did find the stress I went through and the amount of stuff I had to get rid of because it was not as described or junk, ( pilled, old, misshapen), makes me do the math and realize that I would have been better off:
1. Buying new for all of the items that I wanted- like I'm not willing to wear used shoes for example unless they are clearly brand new, or, if a designer purse is clearly brand new and exactly what I want.
2. Going to Value Village for the basics, of which there are a lot of excellent finds for a fraction of the cost of things selling on Poshmark.
3. Time is money, I would rather spring for that Bryan Walker tunic that I know will last me several years that buy one for half the price that looks used that will last me maybe a season.
Oftentimes I find brand new clothes at Value Village anyways, end of clearance sales are usually about a third of the prices of Poshmark!

I noticed when I was scrolling through the main page that there was a tab for law enforcement to contact Poshmark, so between pickers, drug addicts selling stolen merchandise there are probably people fencing stolen clothes too, just like they do on Kijiji and Craigslist.

Anyways, I lasted 1.5 years on Poshmark.
My best finds were limited to silver jewelry. I was not afraid to offer 1/3 to 1/4 of the asking price- the prices are way too inflated for USED jewelry.

A few of the sellers actually seemed as though they were legitimate average people posting personal items, there is no way to know.

I'm done and obviously do not recommend.

It is a huge rip off overall.

Tip for consumers:
If you really insist, offer 1/4 to 1/3 for silver brackets, most likely they came from Value Village anyways, ( I see two pickers at two different Value Villages and they buy bagfuls every time they are there, awful pushy men. So think of who your money is going to.
Don’t be afraid to negotiate!
People are slippery! When you search ‘silver bracelet allll sorts of listings will come up with high price tags, PM the seller and ask, is this stamped 925?
They might say, no but I think it is silveA

I am in shock... I purchased an aquamarine ring from a seller known *******@anumah, Evelyn Pulido from Montclair CA, and it was bent in the band! I purchased 4 rings, in a "bundle" and made her an offer that she accepted. When they arrived I was shocked to feel how lightweight and cheap the aquamarine ring was. I took 18 pictures, because she was using a mannequin hand that had extremely tiny fingers, which made the rings look huge! In reality? Rinky dinky POS! I filed a claim immediately (you get 72 hours to do so) and I was asked to take pictures, and Poshmark came back to me and offered a $60.00 shop credit towards a future purchase! I WAS LIVID! I immediately contacted Discover to dispute the charges. This seller basically runs a jewelry store inside Poshmark! Her stuff is pure junk, with cheap, inexpensive gemstones like quartz, peridot, pink opal... nothing that has true value. The peridot had a band just as thin as the aquamarine that was bent up in the band, so I did not want to keep it either, as well as the pink opal, because the rings were so tiny. I am just shocked that Poshmark chooses to treat their buyers with prejudice, because the seller has over 50,000 followers! It's all a scheme, with a cult like mentality in that poshers go around and back each other up, have "posh parties" where they try to sell more items. This lady, Evelyn *******@anumah adds 10 pieces of jewelry a day! I thought this was supposed to be used, consignment items, but they have sellers selling items that are not authenticated (I could have glass as gemstones!), and its an absolute rip off if you are not VERY careful, and ask a ton of questions before you buy. Poshmark policy is that the item has to be "Not as described" to facilitate a return! So, BE CAREFUL with what you purchase! Never again will I make that mistake twice. The seller then blocked me from warning others, and Poshmark is standing firmly behind the seller! It's just not fair, and the way that this woman talked to me within the dispute was hostile. I tried to remain calm, and I was very kind. She just flipped. She is from Brazil, and doesn't write well, and I was just so upset that I spent close to $400.00 to receive carnival rings that were POS!

HERE IS THE POSHMARK SELLER AND HER LISTING: gabbyb1204
Updated Aug 08 01:13PM Coach Nomad bag with long strap Coach $45 $598

(My name on Poshmark is eastsidedetroit... please read my correspondence to this seller... and her answers to me on this listing...)

I received my refund from Poshmark today... after finding out when I went to check on shipping status that seller had "cancelled" my order! I went into the listing to leave my experience and warn others... and when I tried to post my "review"... found that the seller had blocked me!

So came here to tell my experience with this seller... and again... TO WARN OTHERS!

Here is what I tried to write about this transaction and seller: "BAD SELLER... OUTRIGHT LIED TO ME... SAID ITEM WAS SHIPPED... NO TRACKING NUMBER LEFT... AND IT WAS NEVER SHIPPED. ORDERED ON AUGUST 8TH... TOOK UNTIL AUGUST 22ND FOR THE LIE TO BE UNCOVERED... AND TO RECEIVE MY REFUND FROM POSHMARK. WHEN TRIED TO LEAVE MORE COMMUNICATION UNDER MY NAME ON LISTING FOUND OUT THAT SELLER HAD BLOCKED ME! BEWARE OF THIS PERSON... AND ONLY BUY FROM HER AT YOUR OWN RISK! HOPE NO ONE ELSE IS TREATED LIKE I WAS BY THIS HORRIBLE SELLER!

I saw a denim black Levis skirt in a video and had to have it! So I googled the item which led me to Poshmark! I purchased the item and although used was in great condition at a fair price. The item was shipped in a timely fashion and I'm very happy with it. So I created a profile on poshmark and I'm addicted! You can find vintage stuff that would be hard to find anywhere else. Now I see a lot of complaints on this page because people love to whine and complain without seeking solutions or being smart buyers. Before I purchase anything I make sure to ask buyer to be honest and post pictures of flaws and I do the same. But not all people are nice and honest and that is not the companies fault. Are you taking a risk when buying online? Sure you are so be smart! Be careful with high priced brands such ad Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors.Do your research about how to know if an item is authentic. For instance with Louis Vuitton bags there is a tag inside with a code. When I sold my Louis Vuitton I made sure to show code tag and numerous pictures of the inside and outside of the bag. I also included the flaws. I got an offer sold the item. When I sell I send a thank you note with it wrapped. Its a good chance my customer will buy from me again because I have practiced proper etiquette. And it gives me good ratings in my stats. I make sure to display my product listing in good lighting with an attractive background. Also I displayed a tote bag with items alongside so the person can see how much fits in a bag. Its fun to network and make friends and to sell. I am planning on going to school for merchandising and fashion design and I believe this is a great tool to help me keep up with fashion trends. Though it is fun to find vintage stuff as well. I have created a closet with about 50 items to start including clothes jewelry and handbags. But someone posted on here about being upset when they purchased a 600$ watch which turned out to be fake. Honestly I would NEVER buy an expensive name brand item online like that. I would go directly to retailer. I purchase low price fun vintage items. Someone complained about poshmark wanting too much personal information. Well I think that is needed to protect them and the consumer! If you don't want to give them personal information then don't go on the website duh! If you research authenticity and Poshmark rules and regs you can have a lot of fun! And if someone is messaging you catty texts then just block them! I haven't had any issues yet but life us life. Nothing is perfect. If you got burned by shopping online its probably your fault because you were too trusting or didn't get enough information about the product. I mean once you purchase it it might be difficult to return it. Its just a risk you take. I love poshmark and will continue to list and buy!
