Been a user for about 3 years now and I'm continually surprised by what I can find here, from mags, through books to audiobooks. All at a bargain price, half of ehat audible charges for 1 book a month.

Joined Scribd/Everand a month ago. Their "free trial" is not free. They charged my account twice within that 30-day free trial period...once after two weeks of the trial and then at the end of it. I canceled my subscription and notified my bank of the fraud. Not only am I disputing the charges but a Have had the bank remove the card from my account so they can't continue to steal from me. I had hoped this subscription would be good...it seemed so at first. Then, I found out that not only are they fraudulent in their charges but there's a limit on how many books you can read in a billing cycle. Initially, when you search online for a good ebook subscription, Everand seems like a good choice until you actually have to deal with them. The complaints about them outweigh the good reviews and all seem to have a common thread - deceptive business practices.

Seriously! I was a long time subscriber until you guys went to the limited number of books per month. When you returned to "unlimited" version, I tried you again, but it wasnt worth it. When I tried to unsubscribe, I thought I did, but you charged me!

Then I recently noticed that there is a small continue button almost hidden and then multiple additional pages I had to continue through.

Why not make it simple to unsubscribe instead of making all your ex customers pissed off?

That is a HORRIBLE business policy!

Update: After many emails Scribd finally refunded the money, but the company STILL needs to make unsubscribing more transparent!

Tip for consumers:
Better than Kindle Unlimited but if your local library has online lending, it is totally unnecessary.

This company is a scam! We are repeatedly charged every month for a service we did not order on a credit card we do not use! The only replies we get from the company (e-mail only) are asking for more information. Ticket # *******.

I definitely had some trouble with this company.

I definitely had some trouble with this company but having paid for subscription via PayPal -- I was able to dispute the charges and PayPal got me all my money back. I don't recommend you giving this company any financial info like a credit card or banking info.

I cancelled my subscription on 6 June 2018 and was charged on 17 June 2018 and though I raised hell and still not refunded, have been recharged on 17 July 2018 again! #$%@& refund my bloody money! Absolutely worst, tricksters stealing people's money! For #$%#& sake, refund my money, its not yours. This is going to court!

I cancelled and they continued to charge me. They didn't send me a cancellation confirmation or anything.

*UPDATE* They did refund my money a day after I complained and disputed the charges on paypal. They didn't send me any useful update emails.

I have deleted and cancelled any subscription I've had with Scribd But I am still being charged every month!
I have no access to the content as I have no subscription despite the ongoing charges. No customer service number or a human being to talk to

This service has about 70% less books than Audible plus the books they do have skip and or pause throughout the books. I have contacted Scribd 3 times trying to get them to address the problem. It took 2 weeks for them to respond to my first contact saying they're happy to say the problem had been fixed. I contacted them back telling them the problem has not been fixed. I contacted them again recently because I had not heard back from them. As of today I have still not heard back from them and the issue persists. I could understand if it was one book Or if it was just once or twice per book but it isn't. It's every book, every chapter. I've even tried deleting the app and downloading it again. That didn't fix it either.

They withdrew my money from my account without notification! I want to refund and cancel my membership because I don't use this site. I wrote a lot of this "tickets" but they don't answer on them! I don't know where to write, I even wrote them in Twitter.

Been getting charged on my credit card by this scam service and have NEVER JOINED! Filed complaints with my bank now on my 4th credit card in 3 months. The bank says they have a contract with Visa and automatically gets the new card #s which are manually entered. They want me to open a account to send a e-mail. What a scam!

Great customer service, they refunded a mistake I made and got back to me within a day. My bad, I saw these complaints and thought it was their fault, but I had an email that I forgot that I had made and it was my fault. Emily has great customer service and handled everything immediately

Terrible company, billed me for 6 months AFTER i cancelled my subscription. I had also cancelled my account so that i had some certainty that i would no longer be billed, but this was a mistake as i no longer had access to attempt to cancel the subscription (again).

Scribed came up on a book search so I signed up. They acknowledged my 30-day "trial" and said that an email would be sent to remind me before charging my card in 30 days. However, I never received a new account welcome email and the book was not really available on their site. I waited 24 hours for my welcome email and realized that it would not come. For fear of being charged, I canceled my account the next day keeping a copy of this action. I have never received an email from Scribed, which means they collect your credit card with no intention of communicating with their users.

Tip for consumers:
Pay attention to normal online notifications we view as “normal” these days and don’t accept non-performance when you give your credit card information.

I have never subscribed to Scrib'd, not even for a free trial. NEVER First time I see this website.
So I was shocked to see my credit card being charged for a subscription from 03 Feb 2020! To this month 06 Sep 2022. If this company don't help me to give me money back I will be speak with
Lawyer... I have no words for this company.

Scribd will send you messages more than twice in a month that your account was needed to fill money. If you give response their messages, at the same, time they will charge you. Even though you have already paid, their system was stuck and you was like you haven't pay yet. So, they will send you messages again and you fill again. Then, they charge you again. Their system was so terrible. Then, the application was too. They just show the books that they want to promote. Application was not user friendly.

Whenever I'm not sure if a site is trustworthy, I sign up with my PayPal account. All you have to do is call PayPal and they will cancel it for you... if the company won't. They will also contact the company for you and get your money back!

Do not use this website! I subscribed to it for a book I needed for a 5 week long session. I requested to cancel my membership, and they are still billing me 5 months later. If I wouldve known this was going to happen I could have bought the book for less than what I have paid them already.

I have cancelled my subscription with Scribd and I am still being charged! I had to pay an extra fee for the one month because my account was "on hold' as it expired but still being charged. After paying the subscription fee just to cancel my account, I am charge once again! The customer service is absolutely shocking. They never reply to queries or offer support. They are thieves! I have cancelled my debit order to you. If I so blady well as receive anything from you demanding payment, you can shove that informartion so far where you like it. I have had enough of this BS!

They let you use their service then when you cancel they'll send a confirmation and keep charging you. When you write them they'll keep saying they are doing their best to locate the charges but in fact they are just delaying and trying to scam you longer.

They will keep pretending as long as you let them.

And now Jerry G., Scribd Representative, is here to keep the show, pretending to help disgruntled users that HE will help them? Stop the joke Jerry.

Support ticket #*******

I only had a free trial for 30 days in June last year and you did not inform me of the charge in the following months. I even did not use your service after June last year. You are frauding me and stealing money from me! This is illegal.

So I want a refunding of all the money from July in last year until today--72 EUR

Tried the free trial. I cancelled it. I was billed in Feb. I checked and cancelled again. Been billed again today. Cancelled again.
You people are scammers.

Cancelled subscription straight away, got a confirmation. They kept charging me, wouldn't respond to emails.
I reported SCRIBD INC to my bank who said they are recognised as scammers and have been reported to the consumer complaints commission and UK banking ombudsman.
I am getting my money back via my bank but others may not be as lucky.

I have listened to a handful of audiobooks before they all disappeared without warning. I thought unlimited meant I could listen to as many audiobooks of MY CHOICE as I liked but apparently not - as soon as they get the jist of what you're interested in they start severely limiting what you can choose, the "unlimited" books are absolutely dreadful and of no interest to me. This wasn't made clear at all when I signed up and I made the dreadful mistake of signing up for a year which they refuse to refund. Its a scam as far as I'm concerned, don't fall for it.

The Scribd website did not process my cancellation so they charged me a monthly subscription for nothing; having thought I cancelled my subscription, I did not use Scribd. What a rip-off! They do not deserve even one star.
