Most purchases get shipped quickly but there are few stores that needed threatening with paypal chargeback bc of lack of communication and late shipping. Stopped using online shopping bc of it.
HORRIBLE experience with this site! First, an ad for a pair of jeans stated 2 different sizes (one size in the title, one size in the description). I asked for clarification & they answered. But after I ordered & got the jeans, it was very obvious that their answer was WRONG! Worse, when the jeans arrived there was a HUGE HOLE in the butt of the jeans. The photos in the ad look like they folded the jeans to DELIBERATELY HIDE the hole. AWFUL!
I have spent much money on this site. While I did get a few good deals the overall experience was awful. Besides paying ridiculous shipping fees many items are not as described. But that is just the beginning.
I won an auction. No one else bid so it was a low price. The seller wrote to me and said the item was no longer available and refunded my money. I kept checking and sure enough they posted the exact item again. I wrote to them to explain and they basically said. We lost it and now found it and if I wanted it I could bid again! Try that on eBay.
In another auction that I won they wrote to tell me that the cost to ship item was underestimated and if I still wanted item I would have to pay a third party shipper!
Now I just received a portable cassette recorder. They state that it couldn't be tested and sold as-is. I opened it and it was filled with dirt and dead bugs! I'm still itchy. Also, it had old very corroded batteries in it. All someone had to do was look at item before posting it.
Don't make the same mistake. STAY AWAY. You may be tempted with low prices. Make sure you check the shipping and handling fees.
The Good Will in Greensboro NC is full of racist people in charge. I'm sorry I didn't meet up to there standards but I am getting a lawyer. The district manager and he are not fair
I was a DAILY purchaser on Shopgoodwill.com until recently. The items I wanted to bid on, which would have made MUCH more money for the store, was "PICK UP ONLY. The Items were shelves, cots, camping gear ETC. They state that they don't have a box large enough. I explain that they can tape 2 boxes togeather, but they will not go the extra mile to support THIER CAUSE. Why have items listed that are only sold LOCALLY? They are becoming a SCAM.
I purchased lots of barbies and 80% of the barbies where garbage. Goodwill doesn't describe anything in detail. I will never buy anything at Goodwill. They ripped people off and they know it.
If you watch the same items on eBay as on shopgoodwill you will notice the bids on shopgoodwill are exceeding every bid on eBay. As someone stated they've jacked up shipping prices to ridiculous amounts. They quote an item at 25 lbs for shipping then the actual weight will say 11.3 lbs. Shipping prices even at your local USPS don't cost that much. Someone should also investigate who is making this bids because if they are exceeding eBay bids for broken or as is items then I believe something fishy is going on here and not to mention these are donated items. Goodwill claims to give back to the community but I've never seen their name involved in anything that wasn't their own. The managers or whoever is posting their items online must be making a percentage. There is no customer service, just individual store managers to answer you. I also believe but could be wrong that is was Orange county that started the online site. I'm pretty sure they oversee everything. If you have disputes they could end up getting you suspended.
Always looking for something special, and this puts me on Goodwill's auction site. Lots of cool, unusual things I just can not find living in rural Virginia. BUT - BEFORE YOU BID ON GOODWILL"S AUCTION site be warned!
You can not trust Goodwill's staff to photograph even the most obvious, and clearly visible areas of damage to an item they list. I feel they simply do not care, nor do I beleive they train their staff as to what to look for when they handle and photograph an item. Goodwill will tell you they are not experts! But then - who needs to be an expert when damage is so easily visible by the poor winning bidder that merely holds the item in hand and can see what Goodwill's untrained staff decided not to photograph or disclose. Then, there is the mishandling of your precious item after you won the auction, simply to receive your purchase with damage caused by their staff carelessly handling your purchase.
Case in point. I bid on a painting and frame for our dining room. It arrived safe and was well packaged. However, there were several areas of the frame that had plaster chips that I easily saw once the frame was unwrapped. One of these plaster chips to the frame was not there when the painting was posted for auction, meaning that after the photos were taken, the frame was mishandled to cause a rather obvious front plaster chip to the frame. I also found 4 price stickers on the back of the frame. The stickers read $4.99. So, I paid big bucks for a mishandled damaged frame that Goodwill initially placed in one of their stores to sell for $4.99. This is a true and documented incident.
I have made thousands of dollars from purchasing off ShopGoodwill.com, I Have found great deals on items then I turn around and sell them for a higher price on other platforms.
! BEWARE!
SHOPGOODWILL KNOWINGLY AND FREQUENTLY SELLS COUNTERFEIT COINS AND CURRENCIES. I have identified multiple counterfeit coins that they will not acknowledge or remove from their auctions. They have the equipment to test their products for precious metals content and they are not using it, instead they falsely make up their own description with the claim they are not experts. This is illegal! DO NOT BUY ANY COINS. FROM THEM. Always check other sources for any coin you see listed on shopgoodwills auctions in any State, you will always find a better deal!
If you do purchase a coin from them you are at risk and you'll never be able to resell it for even close to what you paid. DO NOT LET THEM RIP YOU OFF! About 50% of all the prices realized goes to the CEO in California, they cannot prove that they are a charitable organization. They all use FedEx for shipping and that's a rip off as well.
DO NOT BUY FROM SHOPGOODWILL PERIOD!
Each site is independent. Some ship responsibly. Others are a total ripoff. Other stores... like the one in Indiana... lose the items you won... if you won them too cheaply.
It seems I have been placed on sop goodwill's "hit list" because I got banned withiut a reason and then a few of my family members make accounts and then they get banned also. It is and unfair world over at shopgoodwill where "jobs change lives". Did I mention the shipping? Well they have charged upwards of 14 dollars to ship an iPhone which should cost 3 dollars for a non business. I would like to give them my business but I tried making accounts and so did my realatives but they just don't seem to like their customers. Overall EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! The representative I talked to online was short with me and didn't even come close to giving me a valid reason for my banned accounts.
I have found a lot of nice things priced very well on shopgoodwill but the shipping prices are grossly inflated at almost every individual seller. I have also noticed that keeping an item on a watchlist guarantees that you will get shill bidding on that item. I just won an item where the price rose by $12 in the last 30 seconds despite the fact that I was the last bidder. There were 2 other bidders that bid on the item the day after I placed it on my watch list, which was day 6 of a 7day auction, and strangely, the item was still priced at the $8.99 opening price even after the second bidder placed a bid. There were no other bidders after that until, as I said, I placed my bid in the last minute of the auction and inexplicably, the price rose in the last seconds. This was the the second set of an identical lot that I had won from the same location the previous day and it is quite obvious that the added $12 just about covered the loss they incurred by giving me combined shipping.
There are other scammy things I have seen on there and even a racist description of an item that was made in china. It was such an ignorant and offensive posting that should have been noticed by a supervisor or something and it led me to believe that some employees who make these listings can get away with stuff that is at the very least unprofessional and often from what I have seen, a total scam that no one will answer for.
I really used to like this site and it allowed me to buy things for my home that I would be otherwise unable to afford. I'm sure not all locations are conning people but enough of them are that you can get ripped off half of the time. Someone needs to help consumers when practices like this are happening out in the open and are tolerated or not questioned because they site represents itself as a charity. I seriously doubt that a place this crooked is interested in helping people and as of yet, there is no reliable way to make a complaint that will be heard by anyone that can help.
There new site is hard get around on, they ruined a good site. I wont be shopping with them any more and the shipping is crazy way over priced there making money on shipping!
If you had asked me about ShopGoodwill a couple of years ago, I would've told you that they are a great place to get some interesting deals. However, I'm not so happy with them anymore. Their shipping prices have become outrageously high, and their customer service is terrible! I purchased an older model laptop a few weeks ago, which was listed as tested and working. When I received it, it didn't have a power adapter with it, So I had to order one on Amazon. When I finally got the adapter in the mail, I plugged it into the laptop, and saw that it wasn't working at all. It took me two days to reach somebody, because the person that I needed to speak to was apparently away from the office. When I finally got a hold of somebody, I explained what had happened. I spent a grand total of about $21.00 for the laptop with the shopping. But they only agreed to refund me about $6.00 ( the original winning cost of the item). They would not refund the shipping. They let me keep the defective laptop, but it really doesn't do me that much good. I'm going to have to sell it for parts to make up for the lost in shipping costs. I have a feeling the whole thing was a setup. It really ticks me off!
I Bought new Michael Kors boots!
They arrived in a well packed box boots were in original box plastic cardboard cover!
True honest website size correct
I called the nearest Goodwill near me, which is in Apple Valley, MN asking if they pick up furniture. The lady on the other end firmly stated they do not pick up. I then mentioned hearing that some Goodwill's will pick up and inquired if she knew of any in the area. She rudely stated not knowing any Goodwill in the area that picks up furniture and abruptly cut the call off.
While looking on line regarding services that do pick up I came across the following:
Goodwill
"Goodwill uses the proceeds from the sales of donated items to help people with job training and placement. You'll find thousands of Goodwill thrift stores throughout the country. Generally, Goodwill prefers you to bring your items to a donation center, but depending on the chapter and location, they may come to your home to collect large furniture items. Contact your local Goodwill chapter to see if they offer free furniture pick up."
Soooo, Goodwill does pick up; however, do NOT call Apple Valley, MN Goodwill and ask... the manager or person answering the phone apparently does not know this information.
Have a great day!
The items I received in the past were just thrown in a box without enough protection. Most of the time items are missing from the shipment. I didn't report it because I hate contacting customer service, it's difficult to speak to someone or get a timely response. Items scrape and rub against each other and are covered in scratches and marks. My wife has had the same issue. Customer service hasn't responded to my emails asking to close my account becaus I no longer want to be their customer. AVOID! Do not sign up! Employees are unhelpful to me. I used to donate at the end of every year. Now my family and I will never donate or shop at a goodwill ever again. If I had known how badly they treat the things I donate and how unresponsive their customer services are to the recipients of said items, I would have never donated to them in the past. It's a shame, I feel bad for those people who donated and their stuff is wrecked and tossed in the trash apron arrival. I've done this myself and my wife has a pile of jewelry tangled and damaged from numerous shipments which eventually get thrown in the garbage. After years of purchases mine and my wife's accounts were disabled, claiming they are duplicate accounts even though they are separate emails and bank accounts. This makes no sense. We should have been contacted first with an explanation. I opened a new account Wich I am unable to cancel. Oh and please delete my account! I'm still waiting.
GOODWILL SHOULD BE ABSOLUTELY ASHAMED OF THERE SELF'S WITH REGARDS TO THERE SHIPPING AND HANDLEING! YOU ARE A SECOND HAND STORE THAT FUNCTIONS OFF OF GOOD SAMARITANS DONATIONS, WHAT IN THE BLOODY HELL MAKES YOU THINK IT IS OKAY OR EVEN DECENT TOO BUTT RAPE PEOPLE ON OUTRAGEOUS SHIPPING AND HANDLING COST? IS IT SO HARD FOR YOU GOD COMPLEX MF'S TO PUT A DAMN ITEM IN A BOX AND MAIL IT TO SOMEONE WITHIN THE COUNTRY, WITHOUT CHARGING THEM BOTH SETS OF THERE LIMBS ON SHIPPING? WHAT A DISGUSTING DISGRACE YOU PEOPLE ARE TO THE AVERAGE CONSUMER! THEN YOU TRY TO SAY THAT THE FUNDS THAT ARE ACCUMULATED GO TO THE "GOODWILL MISSION " THAT'S THE BIGGEST SACK OF BULL $#*! I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE! ANYTIME IVE EVER BEEN IN A POSITION WHERE I COULD HAVE NEEDED SOME ASSISTANCE FROM YOUR SUPPOSED "MISSION" YOU PEOPLE HAVE BEEN NON EXISTENT! OR HAVE TURNED ME AWAY! IN REALITY YOU DONT HELP ANYONE BUT YOUR DAMN SELF'S MAKING SURE YOUR POCKETS GROW FATTER! PATHETIC JURKS!
I have purchased a number (100+) items with some great buys and some buys I wish I hadn't made. In the end, you make the choice of what to buy and at what price to buy it. Shipping prices are stated up front. They charge sales tax. They state the time frame in which they have to deliver the product to the shipper. None of this is hidden. If you do your homework, you can factor all of these things into your max bid price. I win approximately 20% of what I bid on. If there are shill bidders, it does not affect what I bid, only what I might win.
Experiences:
- I have had three shipments arrive broken in handling or shipment. All were refunded.
- I was told prior to a shipment that the glass on a picture was broken in handling. Did I still want it or a full refund? (I took it as is.)
- I am still waiting on a package from a Washington state store. (I assume they are in lock down due to the pandemic)
- I have had packages left on my door in the rain. (Not Goodwill's fault)
Lessons:
- I no longer bid on items poorly photographed or described and I bid anticipating if not the worst, at least not the best.
- I check shipping and handling charges before I bid. Some can be really high.
- I understand what I am buying by spending the time to do the homework. (Can I get this item cheaper on another venue?)
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
