The problem with Shopgoodwill.com is the shipping price gouging. I know the gazzillion posts and videos made by your site explaining saying FedEx calculates, but this is not true. One I have asked FedEx directly and they have confirmed this statement to be untrue. So to confirm again, I messaged goodwill to say hey why for the same exact item that weighs the same coming from the same place are you charging 15.00+ for shipping the one with zero bids you are now charging 48.00+ dollars. The response was "I will go in and fix that". It is not FedEx! Stop blaming others for this! It is sad, as many like myself want to support your site as we know it supports a good cause, but let the platform work as it should in the auction format, allowing consumers the ability to bid and purchase on USED items as they should! This is really starting to make your company look greedy and dishonest, which makes people question the sincerity of the cause! You rake in millions yearly, stop trying to rob people of their hard earned money for things that were DONATED to your company!

Fraud
October 25, 2022

Illegal activity is going on here and should be investigated by federal agents. They take freely donated goods up price them to retail value, add on shipping and handling charges all in the name of what they call Goodwill. But what people do not know that they employ disabled people and they pay them less than minimal wage while they pocket the interest. They treat their workers like garbage less than garbage they abuse them, so what they're doing is not charity they're basically funding their own labor. And making it look like they're doing someone a favor or helping. They are not. They are not housing these workers for free they're not feeding them for free they are employing them. And that is not a charitable practice that is labor. When you go on their website what they do is they do not combine handling costs so if you are buying three different items big or small and they're putting it in one box, they will ask you to pay triple for handling charges which is downright illegal. It would be like paying triple for shipping and that is how they rip a customer off. Do not donate here and do not buy from them do not fund their fraudulent affairs. It won't be long until they all get arrested for the $#*! they do to the people. Moreover they take absolutely no accountability for their fraudulent policy, they blame the customer and threaten.

What a joke!
February 19, 2022

Their site freezes about the time the auctions are nearing an end so you can't bid. THen when you tell them about it, they read from their little book, mind you they have no damn idea what they are talking about, they tell you to delete your browser history, the change your browser, then use a different computer then lastly, go to a different location. Hey Goodwill are you really that stupid or is you IT person just another jobless crack addict? Because neither of you knoa jack about running a website so, take some of the mil + salary from the CEO and hirew a damn IT person that actually knows what site traffic is and how to manage it and keep the idiots that answer emails about site issues, on the store floor hanging up donated clothes cuz, that is the best htey will ever do.

Overpriced shipping, overpriced merchandise that they received for free and now they have the nerve to put reserves on items to make even more money. The little guy can't win a nice item for a fair price now as they make sure to set reserves to get the least that they will accept for something they got for free. Hello! You didn't pay for the item so you should be glad if you make a dollar off of it. Goodwill is getting very greedy. What do they actually do with the money? I see commercials saying they help people but I have never seen this taking place in my community like you see the Red Cross or Salvation Army doing things to help those in need. The fact that they rake in millions if not billions of dollars on stuff they got for free is amazing to me. Yet they pay their disabled employees who are basically working for Goodwill for free just nickels compared to what those who are not disabled make. I seen a report on them and some of their disabled employees make less than $4 an hour. Research it for yourself and you will see. Goodwill is a disgusting company with disgusting practices who has gotten rich off of getting over on the unassuming in the name of charity. This is the biggest scam ever thought of. Yet people still support them. Think about it. Have you ever heard about anything Goodwill has done in your community or where you can go contact them when you are in need of help like the Red Cross & Salvation Army? Nope and you never will.

The site should be shut down - 100% Employee Shill Bidders on popular items - Shipping charges are 3X normal costs - No review system to see how poorly the BUYERS view this awful site. Any type of investigation you'd find plenty to shut this site down. I wouldn't doubt Goodwill has a text chat about ending auctions and driving up prices.

SHIPPING
October 13, 2020

When you purchase from Shopgoodwill.Com. You'll have to wait at least a week (or more) before you receive your purchase. It's not worth the wait, unless it's something you really want. I suggest you try other sites, EBAY, POSHMARK. There are several other online shopping sites that are much better than SHOPGOODWILL and the waiting time will not be (1-2) weeks before you receive your purchase. CONSUMERS BEWARE...

I first started buying ShopGoodwill online in Hawaii because I live here; I started out bidding on, what they called at the time, "Unsorted Lots of Jewelry" they were good for about a month; then, I finally called to ask why the boxes were looking different?
Were being sorted? I was no longer finding any vintage, silver or on the rare occasions gold; I was told that the boxes were now, "Called Grab Bags" and are now
Being sorted. Which means the prices are still high but the quality was gone.

So, I took a chance and started bidding on Boxes in: Salinas, Ca (The worst Bait & Switchers) they would place pieces on top with 925 & name brands pieces & the bidding would go through the roof & then you get hit with the shipping. Sioux City, Iowa; Mobile, Alabama all went from: "Unsorted Lots" to now, just Grab Bags.
"There Should Be A Law Against ShopGoodWill's Run Amuck Policies!" There is no
One to complain to because they are all independent. "Let's all Boycott!"

More broken items
July 13, 2020

As an Merchandise Inventory Supervisor for an online Ebay store owner, I never cease to be shocked at the broken items we have received out of the box, the poor quality packaging materials and thoughtless packing techniques. Goodwill has lost its "goodwill " to its customers. This level of repeated carelessness is never the standard with antique, EBay store owners. Goodwill gets the items free and looks toward their profit line and have no respect for the market. You're thriving as a vintage etc dealer, but do not function in the class of these professionals. There are excellent choices in this marketplace and we will make that choice going forward. I will be sure to list a complaint with the BBB, and our fellow dealers and families. You have taken for granted that because you don't see our faces, you have no accountability. It's the opposite, we are very conscious of our hard earned dollars, and poor customer service is a sign of management and organizational flaws. We will also redirect charitable donations to another source such as yours. I'm sure your Founding Fathers and Mother's would turn in their graves in shame if it was possible. Find your mission and vision statement, blow off the dust and attempt to become a quality online company in 2020, stop hiding behind a historical name that represents quality, compassion and professionalism at its best.
Respectfully and goodbye!

We have been buying over $2K per month worth of product from multiple Shopgoodwill stores listed on their AUCTION site. The new auction site that replaced the old site at the end of August 2017 SUCKS BIG TIME. The auction times are off, the auction ends when the system shows the auction is still running.

Other issues - We see the same 2 bidder name out bidding us like before, then the items reappear for auction again and the high priced shipping fees

BUT their new website is total TRASH and nowhere near being easy to use. Goodwill you need to fire whoever sold you folks this piece of junk website, bring back the old website until you can get the new one fixed.

Unless you're OK with losing $2K per month - Then all is well - Would love to support you, but not with this worthless new website.

Tecchie scam happening
January 30, 2018

So i've gotten very involved in the site recently, buying nearly every day. I find some great items for good prices (i let go of the overpriced and non authentic stuff which sadly there is a LOT of) but what really gets me - is with some luxe high end items, i have put a number of these items on my watch list. Some of them strangely "disappear" - UNTIL the auction is over. So there clearly is a way to hide these auctions, and its also clear to me that there are some criminal techies who are cashing in on high end stuff for ridiculously low prices, ie $9.99 for a vuitton worth at least $300 used. This is worse than criminal as not only are these dishonest people shaking people's trust in shopgoodwill by essentially stealing donated items; taking away any fair opportunity from buyers to actually bid; but they are also cheating goodwill out of their earnings and just totally gaming the system. Its really... ugh. Awful, i have watched this happen again and again so i am quite sure its not a fluke, its a scam likely discussed between fellow scamming parties. Shame on you, who act as tho you support a CHARITY but are basically just thieves.

Goodwill is owned by an individual and is not what it is portrayed to be. Everything is donated and then sold either through their stores or on line. It is like any other business, except they use the system so they can hire at a lower wage.

The Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, and other organizations who receive donated items help a great number of individuals with their proceeds. Not Goodwill, it goes into the pocket of the business owner.

At one time you could find some very nice things at the local Goodwill stores, but not anymore. Most of the stores mainly sell clothing with a scattering of other items. All of the "good stuff" is sold on line where they can get more money for the items.

The clothing prices have reached the place where you can purchase new items, on sale, for close to the same price as they are charging for used items. Occasionally you can find a bargain, but not often.

I would suggest donating to organizations that will use your donated items to help others, instead of donating to Goodwill where it only helps one individual. With other organizations some of the items are placed for sale while other items are free to those in need. They also use their proceeds to help the community and the people within that community who are homeless or struggling for survival.

I hadn't realized this until recently (some people on reddit mentioned this and it made so much sense)-- but there's an awful lot of evidence/patterns pointing to this site using bots of some sort to outbid actual users. I theorize they do it in order to get more money and start "bid wars". Believe me, this isn't far fetched-- its actually quite common nowadays.

Like clockwork, I will get outbid on most items, no matter how obscure and undesirable, in a matter of a couple hours. Its always placed within 10 minutes of 60,90, and 120 minutes after my initial bid. Seems fishy right? Plus I've seen these same items pop back up a month later if I leave them alone, as if the supposed "high bidder" never paid.

I've noticed this happen to other users too, on undesirable crap that's not worth the money or effort whatsoever to bid on. About the only way to successfully get items on there is to bid at the last second, especially if there's no other bidders. If there is no other bidders, that's your sign to leave the item alone until the last minute.

I've used this site for 8+ years and watched it go downhill. It seemed much better back before it was revamped, albeit shipping was still flippantly overpriced on occasion back then.

Take it as you will, I'd just steer clear of this once-good auction site, that's now been lost to pathetic corporate greed and overzealous resellers.

Would give zero stars if I could. I have been waiting for 2 weeks just for my item to be shipped. Piss Poor everything. No response from customer service. "Shipping delayed due to Covid" STOP BLAMING COVID FOR YOUR INEPT SERVICE. COVID WAS NOT ACTIVE IN 2018. THIS IS 2021 YOU DO-DOs AND YOU ARE STILL TERRIBLE! I have shipped MANY items with regular ship times. I see why people/employees steal from your stores.

I've had the fortune of finding some treasures. I keep in mind not everything is as it appears in photos and the no return policy makes me think twice before bidding. I can't say every purchase was a positive one, but it's second hand goods being sold by people who couldn't possibly be experts on all things. If I have a question, they answer it; if I have a problem, they have always been professional and assisted me as best they can while in keeping with their policy. The times I have been less than happy were borne out of my own failure to add up the shipping and handling prior to bidding. The item was only $8 but I paid $14 to ship plus $5 - oops. I notice some things sell for crazy high prices which is interesting. I do a little background check on an item to see if it's really the deal of the century and many times find the same or even new product being sold elsewhere for less. Shipping times fluctuate from store to store, so I just accept that as the way it is. They ship using FedEx and they typically pack an item very well. Only two items I purchased were damaged during shipping which was resolved without too much effort or inconvenience. I don't go into any purchase with unreasonable expectations. It's used, it's untested and it's not guaranteed so if you can't afford to take a loss then it's not the place to shop. If you hope to find something unique or vintage, you will; a printer or even a camera for $30, you can; I bought a cello for $60 and it's beautiful. You never know what you'll find.

The handling fees are unnecessary. The employes are not recieving an increase in pay, It is just a way to up the price very greedy. Have repeatedly recieved items as not described or completely wrong items. I cant complain about prices if other people want to pay more thats the name of the game, but when I bid on an item that a company got for free then I recieve a reserve has not been met notification that really is upsetting. This is only because knowing that the goodwill trashes literally tons of merchandise. If the item was donated any amount should be good enough because anything would help the cause more then nothing. Very disgraceful and really just look down on the company now. How can you promote that you are some sort of charity trying to help workers when you would rather throw items away then accept a price that you dont feel is enough. I wish another company would pick up the cause and carry on with the mission because this is no longer goodwill but rather greedywill.
