I have been a big seller and buyer on The Real Real since the beginning of the company in 2015! I have made about $400,000 selling pieces that I was not going to wear again. Also, I am a buyer of mostly "pristine" and "excellent" items on consignment. There are so many people who buy things and not wear/use them at all, and sell them new in the box with tags!
Therealreal is a scam. They take high-value items for consignment and list them at ridiculously low prices, allowing their internal employees to steal them from online clients' carts or even after payments have been made. They cancel transactions and resale the items to their friends, who then post them on eBay for a profit. Please do not consign with this company; you will receive almost nothing for your high-value stuff. The company has no control over their employees, so employees do whatever they want, including defrauding their customers and running a side business for themselves
Terrible experience. I ordered sunglasses and they were not in the box that shipped to me. Customer service said he had to raise to his manager but no response after over a week despite reminders. I like the idea of the site but will delete the app if they can't resolve soon.

The Real Real has a fantastic range but their quality control is terrible. Items more often than not arrive and are either not as described (wrong size/ colour etc) or in a poor condition compared to what they are advertised as. The customer service is very good - they promptly reply and help you return the item which is great but the whole process takes ages and is frustrating when you've needed an item for an event or trip.

Really take your time to study an item and make sure you ask questions before purchasing to ensure the item is exactly as described.

My last order arrived in a timely manner. All items were beautiful, except one item that was not described truthfully. A Carolina Herrera linen top was missing a belt. This was obvious as there were two holes in the side seams were the belt should have been.
My previous orders have been great. The only exception is that they all came separately, and the charges that UPS apply on top of the government duties are suspect.
I would be more inclined to order if the duties were included.

She was very gracious and listened carefully to me ~~~ both that thee packaging can be assembled better, that UPS is reckless with boxes Etc but thee end result was beyond my expectations ~~~ the real Real has excellent customer service! The quality of your selection, website, filters, prices, range is just sensational. Living all the way here in Australia, I would like to have a cheaper postage option. I honestly don't mind waiting an extra week or two if it means a cheaper postage. I find $75 for postage to be prohibitive. That's an extra item I can't buy! So I would like you to explore cheaper alternatives for international shipping. Also, your customer service is non-existent. These are the two weak links in an otherwise strong chain.

Received my purchase, earlier than expected, it exceeded my expectations. The bag is in great condition, doesn't look as if it has been used., it also came with a dust bag and box., I have ordered several items from this site have never been disappointed.

Ordered final sale item, received not as described. First rep offered $10 site credit, assuring me it had been applied to my account. Days later, I went to make purchase and it was not there. Had to email AGAIN before finally receiving the promised credit.

I received 48% of the listing price. They sold my boots at a discount after being on the site for a few days. They said this improves sales, but it's not like they were sitting there for months before they sold - They are Rag & Bone boots that would have sold anyway.
Seems like a stupid business decision on their part, and infuriating for me because the boots were priced so low to begin with. When asked, they claimed they priced high to make up for it, but they were listed $120 cheaper on The Real Real versus eBay... so I'm not sure what that's about. I should have just sold them myself. Huge rip off.
Also they sent back a Burberry coat for having a tear, and it took a month to get it back. Just a terrible company.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use it. Ebay it yourself. Even paying the ebay fees and shipping would make it worth it.

The stock at TheRealReal continues to be excellent. I always find something I'm coveting and the orders are exactly what I am expecting. As a Canadian customer, I would shop here all of the time if they would figure out a way to make International shipping cost more economical. It's the only thing that isn't a 5/5 for me. Other than that I'm a loyal customer.

I have a hard time buying full retail price now. I can find brand new (with tags) items at a discount. Some are in better condition than that last call item in the store. The descriptions are almost always accurate too.

I love this site. I've purchased many items from here and have never had an issue. Everything has been in near perfect to perfect condition. But you have to read to description and such very well. Some stuff isn't pristine obviously.

I find beautiful designer goods that are usually up to par, there have been a few times where I have received items with holes or shoes with minor dirt on them (but nothing major or gross). The customer service is pretty good, however, I do not like the charges that they take out for returns, that is a bit unsettling. Other than that, I give a thumbs up for this site, they have done a lot better at advertising flaws than they have in the past!

Real Real split the order into two packages, and UPS sent them to two different pick-up points for some reason. This made this purchase much less sustainable than planned and quite a hassle for me as well. Products were great, though.

Purchased a shoe valued at $1600 that was listed as "Pristine" which by The Real Real owns description should be brand new, with tags, original box and dust bags.
Shoes came terribly packed, in fake box, no tags, no tissue, no dust bags.
Was only offered $25 site credit. Not satisfied or impressed at all.

I used to place an order & out it went & appeared at my door in no time.
My most recent orders are extremely slow.
A dress I ordered has yet to leave the warehouse & it was paid for 5 days ago.

Overall, this is a great site with quality items.
The most frustrating part is that I find some clothes to be inaccurate with sizing. So upon receiving them, it's too big or too small... thus making me pay to ship back. I've most likely spent about $50 shopping back items in the past that were labeled wrong.
If the sizing gets to be more accurate, I would give the highest rating.

I gave ten very expensive and bran new items in for consignment. They listed two item for only $40. I purchased these items less then five months ago for $630 each plus tax. They sold the item without even reviewing the list price with me in a matter of two days when it was told to be it would take two weeks for the item to go live. My final profit on these items were only $12. This is ridiculous and I feel like I'm being scammed! This is a extreme loss without my consent. If you list your items with real real expect to get ripped off. It is also impossible to get anyone on the phone to discuss the issue. Bran new Burberry item for $12 profit! Complete rip off. I'm demanding a return of all my items ASAP! Do not consign with this company your better off giving the items away to someone for FREE! Extremely disappointed!

Watch out for the condition of items because they can be wrong sometimes. This is a problem when an item is not returnable. I ordered a shirt in excellent condition, but it was clearly worn and washed, and it had the name Emily written in marker on the tag. The RealReal customer service got back to me, and helped to resolve the issue. So, if you do happen to have any issues, reach out to customer service and they will assist you!

This business is a disaster. First off the Dallas location is closed but website shows open and online they keep asking me if I want to drop off items to consign. ( so the staff isn't even aware) If you consign items you'll make nothing, but you can buy items dirt cheap because they practically give items away. The website is a nightmare to navigate, they don't even put the style names and sizes are wrong. ( Ie use Medium when it's a size 6 or 8, so you have no idea which one the item of clothing is and there is a big difference)
Also google all of the pending lawsuits against them.

The whole experience was easy and comforting. From checking out to, the shipping, to the return process. They have a lot of awesome deals that you can't pass up on that don't hurt the pockets too much if your on a budget. Reason why it falls short of 5 stars is because the inaccurate sizing from what the product actually was to what I actually received. Nonetheless, would I shop on TheRealReal again? Of course, Would I recommend them to my family and friends, etc? Absolutely!

When trying to deal with an issue, you can no longer speak to customer service... you must text the entire conversation. My problem was complicated and lengthy and took FOREVER to solve. Luckily the customer service agent was able to fix the problem and did apologize for not being able to call, but I am getting very tired of texting problems as there seem to be more than usual with this company lately.

This company is a scam! They will pay you for your first month of income and not pay you after that. They already have access to your property, will not give you the proceeds or return it-and will not return any correspondence whatsoever, they make it very very hard for you to talk to anyone in management-I have never come in contact with worse customer service ever and I'm 56. Proceed with caution but please don't proceed at all! It has been a nightmare for me, and I will never get paid for a lot of jewelry I trusted with them. I Hope I can help even one person. Measurements and size categories have been significant off for some items on 2/3 orders. As I live in Canada, shipping to return is very expensive so these items are useless to me except to donate.
I have noticed on the site, pictures and descriptions for some items being very clearly inconsistent.
I have reduced confidence in my purchases as a result.
I am less likely to purchase items with a high original list price with a significant discount, as the customs declaration reflects the higher value.
Selection is good, so I will give the site another chance or two, but I am getting close to seeking alternatives.

What's right: three things. First and second, the inventory is interesting and fun, and third, the shipping is fast.
What's wrong: also three things. First, when one searches, she can't go to a brand and refine for an item type. We should be able to do that. Second, the shipping cost is too high for a single soft item. Clearly, overcharging for shipping is profitable but for customers the practice is irritating. Third, for the first time, the item I purchased on December 6 is spotted; I thought the condition had been described as good, with signs of light wear. Instead, the black dress has numerous white spots on it; I don't know if they'll come out with dry cleaning
