Thumbtack generates numerous accounts to send false leads (potential customers) to the "pros." With each generated account, they send one "lead" to five pros. Each pro is charged $30 or more for each "lead," which I have experienced and observed, multiple times, every day I was a member of the platform. Shameful, deceptive and unethical practices. Customer service is poor, nearly non-existent. And, don't expect any refunds...you won't get any.

Cut the grass, pulled weeds, finished with mulch all in 30 min! Did a fantastic job! Thank you Roberto Lopez from Lopez Landscaping and tree Services. *******226
Don't bother working with them! They are useless and using bots and not qualified leads that request a job and want to pay 50 bucks while some projects are minimum $500-750. No customer service total bs and you will lose loads of money on "leads" as they call them but it's just fake accounts that show some sort of activity.
Dupage Home Services of Aurora, IL, quoted on and was chosen for our bathroom and powder room remodel. Very reasonable and has been in business a long time. My only disappointment was in the lack of a consistent crew to start the job. The two craftsmen who completed the job were great, both professionally and personally. What started as a two week job ended up taking a total of six weeks, not all their fault as we had to wait on some backordered materials. The outcome was beautiful and met our expectations. Very happy!

I can't review all the people on this site but they need to monitor what their repair people do.
The repair person asked for cash when he came out so I paid him in cash. He said he would install the new part when it came in but didn't come when I was told he would and than sent me a text for more cash if he came out. A terrible experience with the person that came to my house.

Wright Renovations is a great business to use for work around your home. Their price is reasonable, their work is excellent quality, the project is completed in a timely manner, and they have a pleasing personality. I will use them again.

First sent me a quotes what is not my service! After Im contact with customer, he told me he is not interested in service tiles so I ask him what you looking he is never respond to me. So I contact to thumbtack about that and this time I find out that leads cost me 75$! I told him that leads its not from my service and the clients not respond. So I ask them why it 75 $ answering was so funny because after customer sent me a message they decided its 75$. Before they told me any tile leads will not more than 24$! They start stealing and this criminal.

I hired Mark ll Decorating (Mark Walker) to paint a home that I am listing for sale in Anoka. He was prompt on contacting me, bidding the job, which was very a reasonable quote and completing the project within a week's time. I would recommend his services to anyone, as I was very pleased with his quality of work and his professionalism!. Thanks Mark!

Wow, where to start. They kncreased their prices immensely and then realized it sucked so only started charging for clients who hire you. They randomly changed their charges and enddd up sending me an almost $20 bill for a client who responded to a quote. Are you kidding me? I never ended up even working with the client as they were looking for someone different. Now they won't refund. Scam, scam, scam. Stay far away. They need to go out of business.

I was a DJ using Thumbtack for the past year, but with the advent of their pro assist, I started noticing charging discrepancies. They are quick to explain the charge but not to refund it. Not saying they are crooks but watch how they charge you! Good luck

Richard and Dennis did all the work on my newly constructed deck from designs to installing lighting on the steps. Their prices were fair for this upscale deck and I am completely pleased. They made certain I was completely satisfied with the end product. I now have a wonderful 20x12 Fiberon outdoor room/deck thanks to R&R Remodeling. I highly recommend them.

My Mom is 80 and has lived in 2 homes during this time. This move on 10-27-16 was not her choice, but a real blessing as it released her from a variety of stressors. Me, I was stressed and concerned about everything - my Mom, the move, the movers and the list goes on ---She's my Mom! So, I reached Johnny On The Move Inc. through Thumbtack and what a wonderful group of people they were. Mrs. Jackie set everything up, she was professional, kind, thorough and assuring. On moving day, Antonio plus 1 was nothing short of extraordinary! Antonio plus 1 was kind, respectful, prompt and efficient. My Mom and I were pleased with the expert services and how reasonabl fees were assessed. Johnny On The Move Inc. is genuine and they really do care about people.
Happy to spread this word about Johnny!

I want to recommend the Willard Allison Cleaning Service to any one who lives in the Plant City Fl area. They have cleaned my house for a year. They are reliable and trustworthy. They go over and above in the job that they do and will do any extras that come up. And a bonus is that I get a hug each they come. Mary in Plant City

I had Jason Newman pull out my toilet, pulled out old carpet and replace with tile in my bathroom... my toilet was leaking and soaked the carpet, he fixed the leak, everything is running great and looks. 100% better... I would let him repair or replace anything in my home.

I noticed when I would 'hide my account' on days that I don't need leads coming through, I would get fake leads when I'm back online. These fake leads don't respond, and don't even look at my response. The call back numbers and names are fake. Usually these fake leads will cost at least $50. I feel like these are automatic robotic charges to make up the money I was spending on their platform. Furthermore, there's not filter to these leads. Clients have no idea what they're asking for. But my account gets charged anyways. I get ridiculous requests to renovate a entire bathroom for $3k. My small business suffered and I was paying more for leads than I could make from it. For the most part if you even got a job it's from stingy cheap folks where not wanting to pay for what the job is worth.

Had a leak in the kitchen ceiling and wall after a bad rainstorm, Mr Tobler was prompt with an estimate and repairs. Replaced roof tile, drywall and painted. Very efficient and through, I can't tell where the repairs were made! Definitely will call for any future work.

Was quoted $40 hour to put together a book case and printer stand. I knew there was a minimum of 3hours. When billed after he slowly put his abundant amount of tools slowly back into his car and said his prayers, he charged me for 6 hours because he drove 2 hours. I could have put both of them together in 2 hours or less and I am a senior citizen. So I was billed $40X6 hours $240 plus another $128.88 for I do not even know what. It was total of $368,88 to put together 2 pieces of furniture I bought for $270.

I signed up with thumbtack to grow my small business that I have had for a few years. I have done well on referrals but Was hoping thumbtack could help me reach that next level. I was hired by a customer who was a total night mare and scammer. I have dealt with harassment and threats. Very unfortunate because when I was hired on thumbtack for the first time I was so excited. However, my first and only time using it will be my last because it was horrible. You can get hired but be careful with who is hiring you because I learned the hard way.

Thumbtack will charge you whether you accept a lead or not. So in my case, I paint murals and do illustration gigs. I thought Thumbtack would be a good place to find more business. I accepted that you will be charged for contacted clients, whether you land the gig or not. That made sense. But then I started getting charged for getting contacted by clients, even when I didn't respond. They say since the client saw my profile on their website and reached out to me, they have the right to charge me. That doesn't make any sense. If it wasn't for that practice I would still use Thumbtack, but I don't want to be charged for some random person sending me an email if I do not respond.

I paid off my account but my girlfriend still owed for job leads on hers. My account was deactivated and I was told it was a because a card linked to my account was also linked to a banned user. Girlfriend didn't know she was banned from the site. They won't say why and won't let me remove the card from my account and use different cards. Basically, girlfriend was "banned" (although when she tries to get her account activated, all they say is she owes money yet won't let her login to pay) and because we have a card we share, I am also banned from the site. What a joke. They are and always have been the biggest pain to deal with. Mind you, I used this site for a year, earned a high rating for my Services, and never had a complaint.

I was a provider, who have to pay for each lead, and I found that most leads were quite obviously fake so Thumbtack could get providers to pay more money for fake leads. A complete scam. Stay away, provider or customer. SCAM.

Ihave been with Thumbtack for several years (over 5). They always had a way of doing business. We were guaranteed that only 5 pros would be able to bid on a job and we could actually see how many bid for any one request. Unbeknown to us, the pros, they changed the way they do business now and they will let extreme multiple people bid for the information. I just spoke with a woman who said she has received too many calls to keep. The only people making money is Thumbtack. If you change the way you do business, then we should be notified. I just canceled.
Despicable!

I've been on Thumbtack since 2012. Thumbtack originally was allies with my Company, but they have slowly become my absolute Enemy. They refuse ALL refund request no matter how bogus the lead is, if a crazy person that was never a Customer of mine post a negative review of me Thumbtack protects the person posting the false statements then tells me to go pound sand, when I call to speak to a supervisor I'm always told there is never any supervisors available... I could give Many more examples, but the easiest way to explain it is that Thumbtack is my Enemy.

When you join they ask for your credit card. They email leads that look good and when you open the email they charge you? Then when charge a monthly fee without explaining the process. They have a 800 number that they never answer so you want even speak to a human, it just goes around in circles until you finally hang up. It's a scam

My husband tried Thumbtack out for 5 months. We invested money for credits but all the requests that came through could not be bid on without seeing the job in person. We used credits to contact the service requestor to ask for more info or to stop by and see the electrical issue in person. No one ever contacted us back so we could bid on any of the jobs. We essentially just flushed our money down the drain. What a ripoff!

These people are hard to work with if you are a Pro. You cannot speak to anyone and refunds for bad leads are very hard to get. Even if it goes along their refund policy they will tell you no and then cut you off.
