Having been with the same company for over 15 years I came into this job market with the idea that job seekers still compiled and wrote their own resume and cover letters. After not receiving much interest, I decided to participate in the free resume review from TopResume. The free evaluation opened my eyes on what could be truly achieved by hiring a professional writer. I opted for the full package that includes an overhaul of your LinkedIn page. Within one week my resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile were completed. Within two weeks I was asked to complete a second round of interviews with a company I have been trying to get in. I cannot recommend this service highly enough.

The first go around was super fast… too fast. It read like a resume and was bare in all aspects.
The second time is much better and it is currently being finalized however, I had to call 3 times before someone actually matched me to a new author. They did take my comments and layout into account but I'm glad that I am not actively looking for a job, or I would be out of work for over a month without evening being able to provide a CV.
I also think that 7 days may be too fast to complete a thorough cv when you are starting from scratch due to the research and conflicting schedules with a writer. Sometimes it may work but other times, not so much.

I was not aware of resume writing or interview coaching services before receiving a free critique from Katie at TR. I have to say, after working with my writer, I have never seen such professionalism both during the process and as a finished product. So far, I have landed two interviews and have breezed past the first round on both. I loved my experience and would recommend this service to anyone looking to further, or start, their career.
Tip for consumers:
You want to take full advantage of all the products they offer, because they are modest about their services and you almost have to beg them to give you more. Value every minute you have with your writer. Your phone conversation and your revisions are valuable; remember you are ultimately in charge. I found TopResume while job hunting on Glassdoor. I offered my resume for a critique then had them rewrite it. My writer condensed 30 years experience from 4 to 2 pages while capturing the essence of my job duties. My resume is now professionally redone, more visually appealing, very descriptive and I feel more confident in posting it to job sites. I would recommend their services if your resume hasn't been recently updated so it can easily pass through recruiters' modern software.

This was a complete and utter horror show, start to finish. The employees are 100% overseas and don't speak English as their first language. There is some sort of weird automation too. The spacing was completely screwed up, and we went back and forth for a week, and it never got solved. I almost had a breakdown in the back and forth. It was supposed to save me stress and made it 1,000X worse. These good reviews are definitely bots or some sorta scam like the service itself. Do yourself a favor and hire an actual human being locally.

PLEASE AVOID ALTOGETHER AND SAVE YOURSELF WEEKS OF HEADACHES. IT COULD NOT HAVE GONE WORSE, ADDED SOOOO MUCH MORE STRESS TO PROCESS THAT SHOULD HAVE ELIMINATED IT. I GET ALL WORKED UP EVEN THINKING ABOUT IT, AND GOOD LUCK GETTING YOUR MONEY BACK WHEN THEY BOTCH IT COMPLETELY.

After the very good feedback from the free review I decided to purchase so that a pro can help me fix it. They assigned Molly. She send me the first draft and it's nothing what the initial feedback advised. So I sent her a copy of it so she can make adjustment. She insists it's very professional but if I wanted something changed I should say. I did: EVERYTHING! I ran her copy thru another free website and it scored 46 out of 100. I'm telling you it was bad. Called customer service and find out these guys are based in India. Which is nothing wrong until you try to explain to support. They saying Laura who initially did the free review is different department and the writers are different department! I want Laura's department. That's why I purchased the package. Either assign someone that can do it properly or cancel. After multiple attempts via email and calls no resolution yet. So now I have to despite it with credit card.
Just know you getting a pro until you pay. Then an 8th grader to do the job

Debbie was a treat to work with. She always responded to my emails within a few house--even when I sent them Dark O'clock in the morning. The changes she made to my resume and LinkedIn profile were very helpful and her writing is flexible enough that I can customize the documents for individual job announcements with only minimal work. Finally, HATE writing cover letters (blowing my own horn is anathema to all that I am). The letter Debbie drafted is great. It tells who I am and why someone should hire me without sounding like I am campaigning for political office. Better yet, the language of the letter is even more flexible than the resume so customization is a breeze. I rank Debbie as 11/10.

I finally broke down and paid over $300 to have my resume professionally redone. The layout is okay but quite frankly I would love to compare mine to others as I think they use the same formats over and over.
In general, I am appalled at the result. The entire thing looks like a focus group meeting with general words and phrases thrown about in a hap hazard fashion. Much of the detail has been removed and replaced with general terms, none of which are in job postings I apply to. Do not walk away... RUN.
Also, do not be fooled by the lack of an Order ID or other evidence of my purchase, they never gave me an order number due to a typo in an email address. Any messages sent to them take weeks to answer.

My resume is being taken seriously now. Jenny really goes into detail with researching the companies and specified position roles for every employment listed. There were aspects of the jobs that I never even discussed about that went into the resume. A wonderfully, beautiful job at presenting the final product! Perfection!

Very professional and well written. Aaron did a great job and was very patient and understanding. I haven't had any responses yet so cannot give an opinion on how effective the rewrite has been but my resume definitely sells my skills and experience in a much more professional and concise way. One suggestion is that you offer the option of a second resume as some people may be looking for opportunities in different job streams.

I ought to have read the reviews before I found myself here stating exactly what others have stated. This is a scam. There is no follow through. The writers are incompetent at best. Poor grammar, spelling, formatting... the worst part was the lack of focus on what I actually did in my previous jobs... it is as though the writer worked off of three key words that were not even ones that focused on my accomplishments!

My resume didn't seem to be getting me the responses I had hoped. After doing some research, I found that the problem could be the formatting due to the ATS technology used. TopResume proved my suspicions were right when I took their free resume review offer. I am a skeptic to many of these online offerings but took the plunge and signed up for the Executive Priority package. I was pleased with the quick turn around time. Betsy was my writer and the formatting changes made a huge impact and highlighted my skills and expertise in a more concise manner. It took a few rounds to finalize the content and I appreciated Betsy's insight throughout the process. The cover letter template was helpful but the LinkedIn profile update could have been done on my own.

If you want to pay $350 for an "executive" writer to create a totally unusable, amateur resume for you, then go for it. Refunds are not given, and customer service will ignore your requests for help until the satisfaction guarantee window is closed. Total waste of money.

After receiving rejections many, many times. I decided to try these guys. I received my first draft a day later than expected but was informed of this. Got my draft and wanted to make some changes. After looking at it over again, I decided to not mess with a god thing. Cover letter? Out of this world.
Jessica M. Followed through every step of the way. She even highlighted areas in my Resume where she stated that I could add additional qualifications.
I plan on uploading this new resume and cover letter tomorrow. My old resume was fine for when they were not using ATS. I am excited to see what results I get.

Steve was my writer. Although I have only begun to submit applications I can confidently say, Steven was outstanding. He listened to what I said, made sound recommendations and explained them as they were presented.
He was patient, attentive and a good listener. He asked questions to become more informed about my particular industry and together we explored my options. We wen through several revisions until I was comfortable with the product.
We produced a one page resume that captured and clearly highlighted my skills, experience and knowledge without saying too much.
I would have no problem reaching out to Steven again or to recommend Top Resume.

I have been working on a career change and had an outdated resume with no idea how to communicate my skill set to make me look as experienced as someone already in the Environmental field. My re-done resume looks professional, sounds better, and has a format that I believe would be more appealing to any company looking at it. My cover letter was short in the beginning and didn't seem to explain much detail or give much information on my skill set but after working with my TopResume editor, she was able to provide a more detailed cover letter that highlighted my experience.
