I thought it would be helpful to get a second opinion on my resume. The reviewer criticized my passive language (is, was, had, have, etc.) and overuse of certain words and phrases. This was disappointing because my resume contains absolutely no passive language and the words/phrases that were flagged for overuse ("managed" and "collaborated with") were each only used a single time. It didn't take long for me to realize that my "critique" was designed to get me to fork over for one of TopResume's full (and very expensive) services. Proceed at your own risk.

I had the pleasure of working with Kathy to help polish up my resume. She took all my considerations and turned them into a great final product. I would recommend TopResume to anyone that isn't fully confident in what they already have on their resume.

TopResume is a fantastic service. I knew my resume needed to be improved, but I just didn't think I could word it properly. I needed something new and decided to take a chance. I recently received a new design to my resume making it stand out and be more modern. Then, when I received my feedback, It said that it was visually unappealing. There are no crazy colors, only grey and beige and no crazy designs. It just has a column on the side and it looks very professional. The lady's justification was because it wasn't plain enough they believe it doesn't look good.

It is my belief that a professional resume writer does not review these resumes people send in. It is just a computer. I even followed up will an email asking more questions on how i can better change the design but all i received back was thank you for your response and these are our success stories. So, i had to follow up again to receive an answer and that is when she told me that it wasn't plain enough looking.

My advice, if you want a professional to review your resume for today's world. Go elsewhere.

Professional. Helpful. Easy. Above and beyond.
One word of caution, I received emails from the company in my normal inbox *but* the email from my specific resume writer filtered into spam folder. So be aware of that. You can also log into the Top Resume website and check for messages there too.

The first cover letter I received back was absolutely ridiculous and said nothing about me. It could have been for anyone. It looked like they went through a dictionary and picked out the biggest words and used them in a sentence. When I inquired why, they said it was because I have a Masters degree. The second letter was much better with some personalization, but still not impressed for the money charged. They never even spoke to me to get to know me at all. Never do this service again.

This company is a total scam. I was expecting a CV that would be better than mine and mine was not too bad. As I thought you can always tweak the language a little and give the whole thing a bit more power - key word optimisation and so on.
I expected somebody with an degree to write it. Instead I got somebody just our of nursery school. The language is a total disaster. It is not even worth waiting for a second draft, this is so wrong it will never be just ok.
Terrible Service.

This service is amazing! TopResume showed me all the flaws of my resume and how I can stand out just by rewording and formatting. The ATS system they put my resume through described me as a person too. It described how I would fit best in a technical field such as engineering and I'm currently going to college for my mechanical engineering degree (which I thought was strangely accurate). My only issue with the service is the price; I don't understand why TopResume is free. Can someone explain?

Overall a great experience! Jamie was thoughtful and thorough; reached out to me whenever there were questions. They even did an additional review and made more modifications as they got to know me! They did such a great job with my resume, i had them rewrite my linked in profile too! I would suggest everyone make the investment!

I can honestly say that I am very happy with how my resume was re written. Looks more professional. Also my writer Melissa K was very quick with Responses to my enquiries. Definitely would recommend using this service. Its only been 2 days since my final draft so I shall now be posting this to employers.

These people are not qualified. I did 98% of the work and the edits myself. They don't understand simple grammar and punctuation. I had spacing and formatting issues. I would constantly send them exactly how it should read and they would be so confused about what changes to make. Changes take days in between responses and then you run out of time and have to take what they give you. Terrible customer service I was very unhappy with this service.

This option to have a professional help to write my resume was a grate idea. I would recommend you know what job you are aiming for. I love they way they incorporate my experience and school.

I was a little confusing at first, but we was able to work it out. They answered all of my questions and cleared up whatever I was not sure on.

I did not give them 5 stars because I ordered the Linked In package and was under the impression that they would be doing my profile and not sending me instructions on how to do it. Other than that, very satisfied.

My writer did a terrible job. When I spoke to a sales rep they guaranteed me that I would be working with a writer that had experience in the legal industry and with law students. That was a complete lie. A six year old could've done a better job. So much irrelevant information was added. If you are a law student or in the legal profession, stay away from this company. Horrific customer experience. They should be providing customers refunds when they do such a poor job. This company is running a complete scam.

Jerry was very technical and he explained the reasoning behind each change.
I obtained a job interview using an intermediate draft... imagine what results the final version would bring.
Had my first Monster resume in 2008 and now in dec 2016 - excellent job

The software you use to read over resumes is impressive, but 95% of my resume already had the achievement-oriented changes suggested and two of the suggestions were directly conflicting.

It made me think, I'll give you that, but not enough to take the next steps given the lack of visual non-conflicting recommendations. Perhaps a suggestion or example image of that would have been helpful to make me take that last leap.

I'm very happy with my resume, I would have not been able to write something so graceful and professional. I just started using the new resume, so it's too early to tell if there services are worth it, however I'm hopeful.

Top Resume helped eliminate repetitive words in my resume. The writing of job qualifications was done to except a wide opportunity range. The new format was modern updated and formatted to be excepted by today's industry standards, (avoid the round file).
