Showed up to pick up my scheduled uhaul just to be told they have none available, I asked about my 50$ reimbursement just to be told I had to call the customer service line. After waiting for over an hour they "scheduled my refund". Three weeks later still have yet to see the money. I called the line again and they stated they cannot give me that information because I was not the one on the contract. I know I was the one on the contract because I was the one that put all information in, AND had the customer action file number. Now I am left feeling ripped off, AND to top it off the customer service was TERRIBLE. Will never be going to this company again.
I called to make the reservation one week in advance for a 20' truck and I asked the lady to confirm that we are promised to have the truck when we get there. The lady confirmed that uhaul will make sure the truck will be available. They even give me a specific time when I can go pick up the truck. However, when I called 3 days before the pick-up date to ask for some information and make some change, they told me neither 20' nor 26' truck is available now. I asked how come I can not get a truck with my reservation. I was told that reservation does not promise the availability and usually their staff will call 2-3 days in advance to let me know if they have the truck or not. THEN WHAT'S THE POINT OF RESERVATION? And now all my plan is messed up because of it.
U-haul hires anybody! I called because I had an issue, apparently they didnt give a damn! First lady had me on hold and then hung up, I called back the 2nd lady just didnt give a damn what my issue was. Maybe they should hire other people besides crackheads!
Uhual is a joke. NEVER use them, or you WILL be screwed over. Apparently, a reservation is meaningless to them, and nothing is guaranteed. So they can quite literally screw you over. They will call you THE DAY BEFORE your move to tell you they dont have a truck, and they obviously don't give a crap. We even double-checked that we were getting a truck and were told yes. Then we get 2 calls to confirm this, and then at 3:30pm, we are called to say they don't have the truck and "oh well." Thankfully, my husband didn't take no for an answer, so we got to drive 2 hours into the USA to pick up a truck for our move and pay another 300 dollars for the millage (obviously charged to use, cause they take to responsibility for their awful booking system). Plus, to top it off, we paid extra for a bunch of dollies and low and behold they obviously were not in the truck...shocker but we paid for them. What a joke.
Tried to use the auto check in feature. After MANY ID/DL upload fails, I went to CS. Vehicle was parked in such that I couldn't leave. Staff playing musical chairs with equipment - incompetence EVERYWHERE! Went back to CS for long wait to get alt vehicle which screwed up my timing. Did my work, needed to return minus 2 gallons of gas due to timing. Result - $30 cost up charged to $80+. YOU SUCK!
I was in the middle of a complicated move yesterday in freezing weather and the staff at the 57th Street Philadelphia U-Haul--Tori Finger and Sydique Nichols (I asked for their names) were warm, friendly, informative and made the experience--yes, pleasant! It totally made me want to rent a truck again from U-Haul, which I was not expecting. It was by far the easiest and most pleasant part of my move. Also, the truck was in great shape. They charge a lot for boxes, but also give away used boxes for free, which is nice. I went to a UHaul in University CIty in Philadelphia a couple weeks ago to buy a few supplies to prepare for the same move, and the man walked the stuff out to my car. So, not bad!
Beware planning a one-way rental from UHaul. There terms of their booking say that an agent will contact you the day before you expect to pick up the truck or trailer to confirm your booking. That DOES NOT SIMPLY MEAN, "Oh, it will be ready at 10 a.m. instead of 8 a.m." or "We have you down for two dollies together with the truck. Is that right?"
NO. IT MEANS THEY ARE NOT PROMISING THAT THEY WILL HAVE A TRUCK/TRAILER FOR YOU. If they happen to not get enough trucks/trailers returned to them when you expect yours, well sorry, your out of luck.
I'll never use UHaul again.
We reserved a 26' truck for August 31st. We were called the day before the pick-up date (today) and told our truck wouldn't be available until Friday, September 2nd - although that wasn't guaranteed. I was told on the phone that the fine print says you make a reservation but it is based on availability... and for long-distance moves, they can't really provide any accuracy on when/if a truck is available. If I had known this I would have hired professional movers a long time ago - but now we are scrambling to move our stuff out of our rental on the last day of the month. We have made ferry reservations, hotel reservations, and cancelled our hydro, etc., so we hope another local company can help. I would not recommend uhaul for long-distance moves as you are not guaranteed the truck you reserve online or over the phone.
Very surprised at the costs for my rental, imo over 100$ was charged to my account, that I do not agree with, nor does it line up with the prices shown on line
Will not use again
BEWARE of the Alpine Ave Uhaul location! Customer service is the worst I have ever experienced- and vehicles and auto transport trailers are not inspected which could result in catastrophic situations.
2 times i have rented and each time computers go down and they say get me cash or wait 2-4hrs for sytem to work. I dont have time to wait around or cash on me to rent. Also no one know how to do there famn job.
They charged me for a dent I didn't make and told me it would have cost me (a tiny dent in the fender barely noticeable) $8500 if I hadn't paid the $30 for insurance, and they still charged me $150 even though I had insurance!
I rented a U-Haul in Jackson for 9 hours to move to Hazard. I rent the 6x12 trailer so i wont have to make 2 trips. When i pick up the trailer i tell the guy ill have it back by the time the 9 hours was up. He said i could drop it at the Hazard location if i didnt feel like coming to Jackson thats all he said. I drop it off in Hazard and see 3 days later theyre charging me 118 dollars for some reason. After 20 phone calls, 6 live chats and an email, i FINALLY get to talk to someone and they tell me im being charged for them returning it to Jackson. I couldve ran the damn thing back myself for 40 dollars. I didnt know about or agree to this charge but they denied my refund. Will never use U-Haul again. Def wouldnt recommend.
There isn't any better than Chad's Auto Service in Pittsburg, KS. I've been using them for quite a while and don't do anywhere else for U-Haul rental. 5 stars!
They are setting there own rules and policy for customer. When clearly they are not U-hauls. They are scamming on the customers stealing money from customer make up lies if u don't comply with there rules of renting the truck in 8hrs. Increments they overcharge you for going over the 8hrs. To rerent the truck to you if you report them they make up lies in order charge u again an worst is Theophilius O'neal general manager has the employees doing this and not all agree with but in order to keep there jobs they must comply. Very unsatified customer
I had ordered boxes and tape on line to be picked up at uhaul Saskatoon branch. Soon arriving the box order was waiting for me but uhaul ecommerce in their wisdom shipped the tape to my house! The Saskatoon branch had a full shelf of the tape ordered. I purchased tape at the Saskatoon branch as I needed it for the boxes I just picked up. They are refusing to refund my money, after I was told I would be given it once I refused the order when it arrived.
The guys at the store in Saskatoon were great, I would strongly advise against using the ecommerce option to preorder. I was told by the workers that I was the 3rd person that day that had the same problem with an order! I was there at 10:30am.

Rented a truck on 10/13/2019 (for 4 hours). I literally picked up a couch and rented the truck for less than 4 hours. I bring the truck back and have an Uber waiting to pick me up and I tried to hand the keys into the person in the office. The person in the office instructed me to go outside and look for the person checking in the vehicles and I could not find them. I explained to her that I'm dropping off only and provided her the keys and she threatened to charge me additional charges if I did not wait. I left the keys with her and a couple hours later, the Uhual center charged me an extra $170.00 for some bogus damage that never occurred. This place is very sketchy... avoid - - definitely go to a different U-haul center, as I've never had a problem with a different place.
Okay I made reservations and get a week prior to our departure, I get a call that the trailer is not available any longer and that I need to drive 30 min away to pick one up at another location. What is the point of a reservation if they gave it away AND don't COMPENSATE for THEIR MISTAKE of giving away my reservation.
It's a big disappointment taking uhual service. I will never recommend anyone. I opted for unloading option when I booked the ubox. They scheduled it for 29th April and then without notifying me changed it to the 4th may and today when I called them again for the update they said it has been cancelled. And now they can't deliver it to my house until 12th may. I am going through all this inconvenience and trouble. My important documents and entire house things are in the ubox. I am not able to start my new job coz I can't provide the documents. And don't have anything in with me.
The agents have no idea what they are doing and talking and are rude to me.
They accepted my reservation for a 6x12 trailer. Then, after a couple days they change the location. OK, I can deal with that, as it wasn't too far away. But I wasn't expecting them to change the trailer to a much smaller 5x8. I find out about this change only when I travel 2.5 hours to get to the pick-up location. 5x8 is far too small for the work I had to do. This is the 2nd time I've had issues with reserving trailers from U-Haul. Never again.
Answer: Thought it would be cheaper but worst experience ever and they stole lots of $ from me.
Answer: UHAUL IS CHEATING PEOPLE OUT OF THERE MONEY. OVER CHARGES BY CHEATING YOU. There equipment clearly stated rent me $19.99per day. Not $109. Or $126.61. Per day.
Answer: Scammy. Just try leaving a negative review for uhaul itself (not the little mom n pop pickup/dropouts the big company responsible for the bull)...it's impossible
Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
