WOW, what a great morning. We are moving in about a month which I have Hired a moving company to do the work but I always rent a trailer to bring the items I don't want to have broken. I made my reservation online which was very user friendly but after I gave them my credit card they stated that the trailer was not available at the facility that I chose. It said that a Haul rep would call me. I waited a week and no call so I called them to find out that I will not ind out where the trailer will be until 24-48 hours before my move. I asked how far away they can go and she stated 100 miles.
So now I have to wait 1-2 days before I move and then drop everything to go up to 100 miles away which translates to 200 miles ( 100 there and 100 back) and I am in the Bay Area which could translate to 6 or 8 hours of drive time the day before my move! Like I have nothing better to do the day before I move! I would take my business elsewhere but unfortunately unless I want a truck nobody rents one way trailers. My only real option is to just go buy a cargo trailer which is just what I may do... Then you try to review them on their own site and magically they can't find the page...
I'm believable I still can't get over the situation. I have been doing business with U-haul from. Say the age of 19 years old to my current age which is 59. And I just can't believe that the truck rental before. The truck a charge me for gas. Which I had provided gas right to the point and on the needle. However, they charge me and i'd never rent anything. To me again so therefore always take pictures. And the time that I took a picture. But if you hold your camera too close to the gas gauge, it will not capture your pictures so always take pictures of your gas gauge coming and going. I just felt that that was unfair charges for I had the receipts. No one wanted to look at the receipts. It was more than obvious that they just wanted to charge me extra. I mean, there has been times I've rented a truck for an hour and had to pay $700. It was no problem I don't know. What this new thing is going on after COVID-19. Everybody watch your pocket shrinks. Because everyone's out to get your money from you.
I didn't think it was possible to have this many things go wrong.
1. I reserved a truck near my storage unit. The day before my move date, I received a text that I would have to get my truck at a different location that was 30 minutes out of my way to pick up the truck.
2. I called Uhaul to figure out if there was anything that could be done and the guy on the phone was incredibly rude. Rather than having a "sorry for the inconvenience" attitude, he gave me a "what do you want me to do about it?" attitude.
3. I went to pick up my truck the morning of the move and the phone check-in process got stuck at confirming who I was for 20 MINUTES. Uhaul says this process only takes a minute or two, but the owner of the location where I picked it up said it is frequently delayed like that. I would have been late to meet up with my moving crew at my storage unit, but the owner of the location saw me trying to check in outside and brought me the keys to my truck so I could leave.
4. After I picked up the truck, I got a text that said "Thanks for picking up your truck. It is due back in 168 hours." I had only reserved the truck for 6 hours, but they were telling me I had it for a week. It was clearly a fluke, because they did not overcharge me, but it was just another thing that went wrong.
The truck was fine, but the experience of renting it was downright terrible.
A day before I'm suppose to pick up the truck I rented I get a call from a representative saying she's calling to confirm my rental of a 15 foot truck I advise her I didn't order a 15 foot I ordered a 20 foot then she proceeds to say we don't have a 20 foot I asked what happened to what I rented and she so rudely replied that's all they had available and on top of that they move the location I'm suppose to pick up at! Its frustrating when they waited to call me the day before I'm moving to tell me and to make it sound like that is what I ordered and not take responsibility for their screw up or even say sorry and then she tried to offer me a trailer too that I have to pay extra for! Shame on you uhaul for doing business that way!
Worst I mean the worst company ever! Thay lie, cheat you out of your money an thay are the rudest people in the world everyone who works for this company is awful I won't an I will make sure non of my family an there family won't be rented anything from them thay don't know how to talk to you customers services as well thay are the worst I can't talk bout them enough whenever you put the gas back where it was them dummies will say you didn't put enough thay cheat on everything I rented the truck an brought it back the same day if you like me you don't want to pay extra when I brought the truck back the uhaul was close so I park the truck an put the keys in the drop box but them lazy $#*! folks didn't even check an charge me for 2 days due to the fact thay just didn't care to lister thay just crooks an lesson learn never again
Fuel mileage was garbage (7 miles MPG) Speedometer was 10 MPH over actual road speed.
U-Haul tried to illicit me to pull a loaded trailer over 150 miles out of my way.
I'll never use them again.
I rented a 5x8 trailer from Bend U-haul Bend Oregon on Saturday jan 31 and returned it in McMinnville to Sears Homtown U-haul the rental was $37. Sears hometown was closed sunday afternoon so I left a copy of my paperwork in their drop box and was charged $20 afterhours service fee. This is gouging and a poor business policy on their part and prefer to do as little or no business with uhaul again. $20 dollars to close out a return that was in a day early.is poor business. U-haul needs to rethink their return policy for afterhours I was out of town and had no access to a computer I give them a One Star
1800 UHAUL WAS NICE, BUT STILL DID NOT HELP ME AT START, THEY PLAYED THE DELAY GAME, AND HAD THIS CRAP MANAGER CALL ME.
HORRIBLE SERVICE WITH MANAGER JEANETTE. VERY AGGRESSIVE. WOULD NOT GIVE ME MANAGERS NAME OR CONTACT INFORMATION!
WHEN UHAUL HIRES, ANXIOUS AND SMALL MINDED MANAGERS, THIS IS THE OUTCOME. EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
GOT SURPRISE EXTRA DAY CHARGE. MANAGER HAD A FIGHTING VOICE WITH ME THE SECOND I CALLED. REFUSED TO HELP.
1800 UHAUL WAS NICE, BUT STILL DID NOT HELP ME AT START, THEY PLAYED THE DELAY GAME, AND HAD THIS CRAP MANAGER CALL ME.
Made a reservation 3 weeks ago for a truck pick up in Lethbridge AB. I re arranged my work schedule to accommodate this pick up in Lethbridge, as I was traveling from Edmonton to pick up property and return it to Edmonton. I reserved a 7am pick up for this truck.
So less than 24 hrs before the scheduled pick up I got a call informing me that my pick up time had been moved from 7am, to noon.
This wouldn't have been an issue had I been moving across town.
Uhaul offered nothing as far as compensation or any way to remedy this except for telling me "that I was told when I made this request that changes could be possible at the last minute"...so please tell me why I even bothered making a reservation.
If I ever need to rent a moving truck again, it WILL NOT be from Uhaul...
Not everyone runs on their schedule and the inconvenience isn't worth it

This isn't a matter of inflation, it's a matter of thievery and price gouging. Oct 2020, sent a Ubox from Baltimore to Portland OR. $1200. We choose to use a tiny ubox because it's the AFFORDABLE option. That's literally the point. July 2022 (20 months later) Quoted $1800 from Portland, OR back to Baltimore. I said that's fine - summer was peak inflation and I have no issue with that price. However, I did not know where exactly in Baltimore I was going to living yet. So, Uhaul said, we can store it for $100 a month until you know then ship it.
FOUR MONTHS PASS AND THEY NOW QUOTE ME $2600.
20 months - $600 increase
4 months - another $800 increase
This is what they do. They have your $#*! and so you have no choice but to get $#*!ed. It's the third party shipper's price but Uhaul really needs to do something about this business agreement. People will stop using uhaul and slaughter the ratings because of this price gouging. Will never use again.
Reserved a auto transport for a location close to our address sent me clear to the west side of indy to pick it up when they had two on the lot I could take then reserved another one In Tennessee close to we was staying then got a text wanting us to go two hours south in Tennessee out of our way to come back to Indiana then they finally called us back and said they had one at the location I reserved it at there close to we was staying
U-haul is absolutely an incompetent company. Made a reservation for a truck over a month ago; received all of the confirmations; showed up & there's no truck.
Went to pick up a truck this morning, Paige and Rita were working the counter. Paige was talking to two other mail employees, cussing and complaining about George, another employee, also complaining about her manager and "cleaning a semi". Rita helped us out with getting our truck while Paige continued to talk. Another couple came in and Paige ignored them, yelled on her walkie for Rita to come back inside and help the next customers. At this point, there were four people in line waiting to be helped and Paige was not helping Rita at all. She continued to yell at Rita and Marquees in front of all of us customers. It was extremely awkward and another woman even said hello to Paige first because she was completely ignored. I feel really bad for Rita and Marquees because they were working very hard while Paige and two other male workers complained about their jobs. Overall, my rental experience was very good since Rita helped me out, I just feel bad they were treated so poorly in front of customers as well.
I made multiple complaints regarding my 2 UBOXES that were never delivered. I had a GUARANTEED delivery date of 8/19 and since then I've made multiple calls totaling over 10+ hours (on hold and with employees) trying to get my UBOXES. I've been given the run-around with multiple inaccurate delivery dates from customer service and supervisors. I moved to a new state and have been in an empty house for 7 days without any of my essential items... I want my boxes!
This is my second rental of a Uhaul within a few weeks. The first one was great and I thought the second one would go the same but... I stopped and put $20 of gas in truck and then was trying to bring it back. They had the garage door closed that you supposed to drive through, so I drove to the other side. Their representative said why did I drive over there I'm like the other side is locked. She then says that she will open the door, so I drive to over, waiting on her to open the other door, I then drive in. She comes out and walked, inspect and checked the truck. She says all is good, you will receive a $17 refund, your receipt will be emailed to you. Now two days later I get an email stating that I owe them $116 for not putting gas in the truck and for mileage and that it was passed E. When I got the truck it was on full, I drove 22 miles in total. No way could that truck be past E for that trip even if they say I didn't put gas in it. I can drive to Indiana and that is 30+ miles and I can drive there and back on a 4th tank of gas. This is a total scam. I ask them to investigate it and actually to escalate it but they said they can't until the manager looks at it and give them 72 hours. This is just ridiculous, trying to make me pay for something that is such a scam.
I planned to help my son move from an apartment to a house and so I went online and rented a pickup from U-Haul at Dixie Highway in Boca Raton. I receive a confirmation from U-Haul and the day before a reminder from U-Haul so I think all is good. My wife drives me to the U-Haul rental in Boca to pick up the truck and when I go into the rental office they tell me they had cancelled my rental. What a pain… you plan your day to do something and then you learn you can't do it and U-Haul did not have the curtesy to let me know they cancelled my rental. I will not use U-Haul again.
Problems right from the start. You spend a lot of time trying to organize your move and put in an order online to pick up the truck at a location that works and has the truck you need. Apparently the online site is useless and not at all accurate. A certain amount of time before your move they send an email and say that location doesn't even carry those trucks?!? They move you to a new, much further away location that you have to pay mileage to get the truck to and from. They also change the time. I call back and verify the date and time change with a "scheduler" on the phone. Moving day comes, its very hectic. I rush around and then show up to the location at the time they tell me to, and its not even open. I chose the "Truck Share" originally, so I think thats fine that its not open, but after trying to use it... well the new location they sent me to, doesn't have it. I call the "scheduler" again, and they are like, oops sorry. They can get me a truck 20km further away from the already far relocation. What a joke of a company. I will never use them again.
6 places we had to go to get our cargo trailer, even with reservation. 2 hours, 1/4 gasoline wasted. Bad costumer service. Big disappointed. Get your $#*! together and don't waste your costumer time.
First, horrible transmission and shouldn't be on the road. Truck had oil all over the enclosure so it wasn't checked prior. Steering column turned 300 degrees to make a turn.
My name is Lajuana Okisha Randolph and I had just finished my last cancer treatment n treated myself to most beautiful bedroom set that I ended up putting in uhaul storage unit along with my son new bed and and other very expensive things only to have them stolen out of my unit when my unit went past due I'm devastated over what was done to me and my child no one should have to go through something like this ever
Answer: Thought it would be cheaper but worst experience ever and they stole lots of $ from me.
Answer: UHAUL IS CHEATING PEOPLE OUT OF THERE MONEY. OVER CHARGES BY CHEATING YOU. There equipment clearly stated rent me $19.99per day. Not $109. Or $126.61. Per day.
Answer: Scammy. Just try leaving a negative review for uhaul itself (not the little mom n pop pickup/dropouts the big company responsible for the bull)...it's impossible
Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
