It is very frustrating to walk into a Uhaul establishment and encounter an employee who struggles with the computer. I know this person is not new as we have been dealing with her off and on for the last 7 months. She is always rude and it takes forever to get the transaction completed. It is unfortunate that it is the only dealer within 25 miles. The first thing she always says is OOPS my computer isn't warmed up. She then somehow deletes our information and has to start over. There is nowhere to sit and wait. In addition, being the only one in the building associated with Uhaul she was unable to assist hooking up the trailer. This is the worst customer service we have ever encountered.
They gave me only enough miles to get from the pick up to drop off locations. They wanted me to drop off 40 miles away, then charged me for the 40 miles. I don't think I have ever been treated as rudely as I was by Louis at u-haul 2001 E. Tamiami Trail, Naples. He is a complete $#*!.
I was overcharged for the rental, the truck smelled like a locker room in the cab, Uhaul changed the pick up location without notifying me which added miles to my rental, which was ridiculously expensive to begin with. I was also charged a $5 "Safe Trip Fee". I was charged more than $30 above what my rental should have cost. Then I spent almost an hour trying to get it resolved. The customer service and quality of equipment has deteriorated to the point I will no longer do business with Uhaul.
I made reservations early for a 4×8 Trailer to haul some needed items to Florida from Michigan. I rented a nice Storage Unit in Lakeland and my brother would meet me to unload.When I went to pick it up on Wednesday morning, I was told the U-Haul Computer System was down and I couldn't have the trailer. What? Your kidding. Get out the forms, let me sign and I'll be on my way. Nope. No way. Not even a sorry. After calls to everyone, not a shred of decency from anyone. What a horrible way to run a company.
Picked up a dolly and told them it was gonna be dropped off at another location in the same city. They said ok no problem its going to be this much, now they want to charge a bunch of money because of it and they never mentioned that charge
Be warned! Anyone I mean anyone can put your name and number down as a contact and link you to anything they do their truck! With out u knowing! I use this truck twice for a move was fine returned and paid everything that was needed and my own son used my name with out my knowing and did something horrific with his truck and since he used my name and number and no one I mean not one person reached out to notify me what happened I'm now banned from uhaul! Right in the middle of a move and told I may be involved in what ever happens to a truck. Again no one notified me no one asked me for permission. This needs to change! Be warned anyone can use your name!
Returned my truck rental in Norfolk, VA this morning and was charged a $20 after hours fee when, in fact, I handed my keys to a gentleman. When I called about the fee, was told by a lady that said when she got the keys she thought the truck was turned in last night. She then proceeded to input my credit card information manually into their system and charged me $20. I told them I wanted my refund immediately as they took the money fraudulently. Was told I should have it within 72 hours. This is not acceptable as this was done without my knowledge and didn't find out until I noticed the charge on my credit card and then when I finally received my return receipt.
We received the "Reservation Confirmation" email after an online booking. Unfortunately they were not able to reach us by cell phone and only emailed us 7 minutes after the booking time. By then we had driven 4 hours only to find there were no trucks available. Customer service would only say give an apology.
What's the point in making a reservation if the equipment in not guaranteed?!? At no time during the process was it mentioned that my reservation could be canceled due to equipment not being available. And then you cancel the day before?!? Like you didn't know this when I made the reservation 3 weeks ago. I hope Uhaul goes out of business!
I'm a Florist and I'd reserved a van for a wedding, well in the morning of my 1st EVER large wedding they had overbooked the van reservations leaving me completely stuck! I tried fitting everything into my car but it was too small, I ended up having to drive an unregistered vehicle risking a lot to do so. Luckily I made it there without incident but got stopped later that night on the way home and the cop had me park in a lot to sleep for the night until I could get it towed in the morning. They completely failed me, and even when I visited multiple sites that morning they repeatedly had overbooked reservations. Such a bad business model to consistently screw over clients
I'll try anything once, but never again U-haul. My quote was 47.95 for a 2 hour trip to deliver one large table.When I brought it back the mileage had tripled ( magic) and oh! The best part! They rented me a cube truck with no gas in it! I put $ 20 in as I had no choice, but the receipt - with photo of the gas guage - was not acknowledged. I realize it's hard to prove that I gassed that particular truck, but now they get to sell the gas I paid for twice. My 47.95 quote turned into $85 plus my 20 = $105. My best advice to rent a 10' cube? GO TO HOME DEPOT!
Our terrible experience started when they changed the pickup location from a close place in our community to 45 minutes away up into town. Our current house hasn't closed yet so we needed to extend it but when we called the guy on the phone didn't even try to help. He said someone else needed the truck and refused to get them a different one. So now all our stuff is piled up in our friends house and we have to bring the truck all the way back up into town because they couldn't be bothered to help us out.
They have raised the rate every 8 months, I advise you not to store with them I have been a long standing customer since (2021). Loyalty doesn't matter with them only money!
U-haul is really a poor organized company. I reserved a truck from local u-haul on May 17 for May 28. Today when I go to sign in I discover then have changed my pick up location to a place 70 miles from my home. When I called to ask for help, the guy the place you can rent a truck from us is 70 miles away. This is such an inconvenience for me plus they are going to end up charging for the extra miles. Do yourself a favor and DONT rent from them anymore. Try someone else who want screw you
I got a call from the Reservation manager telling me that they did not have a trailer for me 1/2 before my reservation. They he has the nerve to tell sorry nothing I can do for you. So I kinda was upset that he would say that. So I told him what do you mean how do you call someone telling them sorry there is nothing you can do 1/2 hour before their reservation. Then my reservation get canceled. Wow I never been treated like this. I have rented U-Haul many times. I have no words from the treatment.
I called a day prior to my reserved pickup to ensure my requested tools would be available, specifically, a furniture and appliance dolly. Once I arrived to pickup the truck and dollies, they had given away the last furniture and appliance dollies--none were available! I really needed these two dollies, and it really messed up my moving day because we did NOT have the reserved tools we really needed, and moving was very difficult because of this mishap. And to top it off, the clerk handling our check-in was unsympathetic, not offering any excuses, apologies, no sympathy to this plight whatsoever. I will never, ever go to another UHaul for moving services and equipment again, especially not the one in Pico Rivera, CA. The check-out process was nice, by the way, as all I had to do is give the clerk the key and walk away. But I will still never, ever go to another UHaul for any reason again.
I went online and made a reservation at Houghton Lake, MI. I was given a reservation number, move-in date, to store my vehicle over the winter. I drove three hours To be told I should have called to confirm even though I confirmed I thought online! She told me there was nothing she could do for me then proceeded to tell me that I reserved a spot for a motorcycle. I then pulled out my reservation paper which states right on there it was for a vehicle spot she then had nothing to say after that! And then had the luxury of driving my expensive Mustang in a snow storm three hours home! So beware of making a reservation online!
Online services don't work most of the time, some don't work from your smartphone (including the off hours return which usually done... on your smartphone)
Phone calls are put on hold, forever, without any music to let you know that you are still on hold.
The only way to rent is to wait on location for the only desk employee to help you.
I rented a truck then they said they only had a van. When I go to the place to pick up the van they said I can't get it because the system is down. They didn't tell me that when we spoke over the phone about changing the truck to then van. I drove 1 hour and was stuck in traffic, planned everything out for them to tell me last minute I can't get the van. A complete waste of my time.
This Lady Samantha Miguel is completely lost and definitely not ready for this role. Besides made us wait extra for stuff not related with our transaction, even after we tried to explain we were in a hurry and yet she still us wait for NO reason since my card was already charge, also ask for the receipt min before I received it. I was a witness of how customers walk out from the line and on TOP of that I was EXTRA MONEY for Insurance I didn't select and with paper on hand that indicates so. It crazy and out of control. The guys did a pretty good job but the experience was cloud with all this… I hope to receive the extra charges as soon as possible. It was a horrible experience.
And if that's not enough, her attitude could it be way better than the one approach with.

Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
