Reserved a truck in Manitoba and got confirmation twice
Spent $300 flying from Ontario to Manitoba. Stop at the U-Haul location and was told there was no truck available and there never was one. They compensated me $50. Totally unacceptable service
Not only is it impossible to get a hold of a human on the phone. The experience in any location has been grueling. Long lines unengaged employees, weeks of waiting for any kind of service. Hours of wait to talk to someone on the phone. When they installed my hitch it rubbed up against my muffler and began to make all kinds of noises in turn causing all kinds of problems for my vehicle. Come to find out the torque weight doesn't even accommodate my wheelchair which is the whole reason why I installed it in the first place. Absolutely worse business I have dealt with since the turn of the century. Save yourself the hassle and avoid this company all together.
I ordered a truck to move well over a week ago from a specific location because the sight said that location had a truck available for me. I got a call today- 1 day before my move and I'm told I have to drive over an hour to pick up my truck in Chicago and then drive to my move location in Naperville IL. The original location was Naperville. This is classic bait and switch. Agent told me they can only guarantee 2 days prior to which I replied that they should put that in big bold warning letters to their patrons so that they don't need to take a chance on availability and can move on to another company. If you guarantee an availability at a certain sight, then honor that. A UHaul employee should then bring the truck to the location it was originally promised to. Seems this would save a lot of stranded people only 1 day before their move! Absolutely unprofessional and wrong! I am now scrambling to find a truck closer with another company. Shame on UHaul!
I made a reservation approx. 2 weeks in advance. The day before my pick-up date they changed my pick-up location 4 times and were sending me one hour away to pick up the truck. I called to confirm and then they said they don't have a 10' truck for me, nor did they offer any alternative truck. They said maybe something will come. I have heard that they do this, but I still find it hard to believe that they will take a reservation and then not notify that they have no truck available.
After one hour on hold and speaking with several reps with different stories, I finally canceled my reservation and went to Penske. A move is stressful enough without dealing with these guys.
Do not hire Moving Help of U-Haul. They are fraud. They do not show up, do not provide services and do not refund money. I hired Moving help to unload U-Haul truck. They did not show up. When I called them, they told me to cancel the services. I had to hire another moving services. Had to take another day off. Paid premium for emergency services. Paid one addition day rent of the U-Haul truck. Moving Help will not refund my money. They told me to contact the movers. Movers told me that Moving Help did not pay them money. Moving help gave me a code to give movers when service is completed. Movers did not show up and I did not give them code. Without code they are not paid.
We sol our home. I booked 5 weeks ahead with U Haul. Was told they would have choices. I asked for a 26 ft. I called 2 weeks ahead to re confirm. I was told I would have to go 700 km. To Calgary to pick up truck?! When I said that was impossible, agent got Arrogant. I was flabbergasted. I'm a 71 retired family guy. Name is all you got. Horrible exp.
Research Blvd. Austin, Tx
Property trained counter staff would be a good start, and having more than one person at the counter at all times would be helpful. I lost valuable time and money, because of a scheduling screwup on U-Haul's end.
Two weeks ago, I reserved a truck and trailor 2 miles from my house. With less than 24 hours notice, they changed my reservation so that the truck was 40 minutes away and the trailor was in a different location.
Do NOT USE uhaul to transport or belongings from one state to the next. They're delivery service is absolutely horrible. Made me wait for two weeks before I got my personal belongings. Refused to give me the transporter information. Held my personal belongings hostage and used the holidays as a excuse.
Uhaul experience was trash, they overcharged my mother 60$ worth of gas and a 75$ cleaning fee. Even though we filled it up for her and cleaned it. I've contacted them many times to no replies. Avoid this sacmming company
I came from New Hampshire to Florida I ordered a u box to me it's not Worth the money you pay these people to handle your stuff. I was told inwill get my box on a day and for. Three days I got the run round. I ask to talk to a boss and nothing. This will be the last time I every use u-haul and I will be letting everyone I known that they suck..
The urgency of an unforeseen situation prompted me to swiftly relocate out of state, yet the associated fee exceeded my financial means. Advised to arrange a local pick-up and address the matter with customer service upon my return, I reached out to the corporate office seeking assistance with the fees. Initially assured of a callback from a higher authority within three business days, I patiently awaited resolution. However, after four days had elapsed, I proactively followed up, only to be directed to Lucy, purportedly the highest-ranking individual for the region.
Lucy's demeanor during our interaction was notably stern, indicating she had already familiarized herself with my situation. Regrettably, her response was devoid of empathy or assistance, accompanied by what seemed like laughter from others in the background, further exacerbating my distress. Despite my earnest explanation of the extenuating circumstances, including the involvement of sexual violence that precipitated my decisions, Lucy remained dismissive and unyielding.
In a tone that conveyed both arrogance and indifference, Lucy reiterated her unwillingness to offer any assistance, adamantly asserting her stance as if to underscore her authority. Her insistence on emphasizing personal opinions, coupled with a marked lack of empathy, only served to compound the already distressing nature of the situation. Such conduct, particularly from a company of significant stature, reflects a profound lack of professionalism and compassion.
I strongly discourage anyone from using U-Haul trucks. In May, we wanted to move from Montreal to Toronto.
We have booked a truck to pick up 2 months in advance, at a specific location that was at 15 min from our place.
2 days before the moving, they have contacted us to explain that there are no trucks available at the desired location and chose for us another pick up location at 3 hours drive!
Basically we could not refuse the new location as we were 2 days from the moving!
We had the same situation in February, when we moved from Toronto to Montreal. It seems that u-haul business is to accept people's money and then 2 days before the move using their distress and providing a new pick up location at 3 hours drive. 6hours drive back and forth.
I regret that I was cheap and did not add more dollars to go by proper moving company service.
If 0 was an option, I would have gone with that. Rented a truck for 39.99 plus mileage. Came out to $55 and change. They ended up charging me $330 for returning it at wrong location when I was specifically told I could return at any location. Then charged me an extra day because it wasn't logged until next morning. Then got charged again for $371. Total of over $700 for a $50 rental. Called customer service, waited on hold forever. Spoke with 4 different people, transferred a million times. Nobody can help! Teceiots was supposed to be emailed to me,.but never received it. Will never use or recommend them ever again!
We confidently booked our U-haul truck a month in advance. 2pm the day before our scheduled pickup we received a text informing us that we could no longer pick up the truck but would have to drive 120 miles round trip to another location! No amount of pleading or number of phone calls produced anyone willing to mitigate this calamity only hours before moving across country. U-haul wouldn't bring it to the promised location, they wouldn't give us any kind of discount, they scoffed and dismissed our predicament; "company policy, company policy!" Their advertised service is just what anyone would want; the reality is nothing like their smoke blowing spiel. Never again will we use such an untrustworthy company.
Speedo, Cascades Blvd, Sterling, VA worst customer service. District mgr informed us that he was going to "shut" this operation down, after what we experienced. Tried to send us off the lot with nonworking equipment saying it wasn't his job to fix it, just rent it. Rude, sexist and bossy owner.
They do not tell you that if you turn the truck in with extra gas that you do not get credit for it. That is how UHAUL rips people off and gets free gas for their trucks. But they are quick to charge you if you are over miles. Bottom line do not rent UHAUL. Only suppose to turn in truck with quarter tank. If over you have no way to get out the extra gas.
Went to different uhaul because of the slow wait. Had them fill my propane tank and must have tightened it w wrench. Valve is stripped now and when tried to work something out-manager was very rude yelling down from above about how they couldn't have done it. They are absolutely awesome-buy propane ANYWHERE else.
Rented a cargo van, worker said just put key in drop box when I returned after hours.next day was charged 20 more dollars for not digitally signing van in. Called manager and she said some places do this and some dont...wow! Make that make sense. All they said was it was in the contract, like someone's gonna read the whole dam thing, why not just tell people this when they rent the van or truck? Uhaul, yall wrong for this, especially to loyal customers. Word of mouth can be your worst enemy!
1 hour before my schedule 1-way truck rental, Uhaul downsized the truck to force me to haul a trailer or reschedule as a 2-way. Downsize wasn't an option because Uhaul underestimates how much you can fit in a truck.
Uhaul preys on those who trust them enough to book and just as you're unable to make alternate plans they jack around causing unnecessary additional stress and expense.
Who needs that type of BS when they're moving?
Do not trust and if you decide to use anyway, make sure you have contingencies in your plan to ensure you're not going to be taken advantage of.
Answer: Thought it would be cheaper but worst experience ever and they stole lots of $ from me.
Answer: UHAUL IS CHEATING PEOPLE OUT OF THERE MONEY. OVER CHARGES BY CHEATING YOU. There equipment clearly stated rent me $19.99per day. Not $109. Or $126.61. Per day.
Answer: Scammy. Just try leaving a negative review for uhaul itself (not the little mom n pop pickup/dropouts the big company responsible for the bull)...it's impossible
Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
