We used to be able to rely on ups with every delivery. Not any more. Since the beginning of 2020, pre COVID, something changed. Packages arrived late, sometimes damaged, sometimes on time. The past two packages have been utterly ridiculous. We have commercial delivery. Was supposed to receive a package on Friday, but got an email at 2am saying because of situations out of their control a package that 2as sitting in their facility 7 miles away couldn't be delivered until Monday. Ok, situations out of their control. I get it. Then on Monday I get an email saying the tried to deliver on Sunday to a commercial address and of course couldn't deliver, but left a notice on the door. Really? The driver was able to go through a locked chain link 6 foot gate with 2 feet of barbed wire on the top to leave a notice? Wow, he's some kind of liar. No notice was on any door or the gate. They then gave the package to usps with no delivery dates to go with it or any information because that was on the invisible notice left by the driver. Now today, a package was to be delivered, issue today is they have it on a residential delivery schedule till 9 pm tonight. Um the office will be locked up again. No one showed and we can't use my ups because it's a commercial address and won't recognize the address. Tried 6 different ways to contact a human, can't, no one available because of COVID. Too risky using a phone, could catc6it by talking to customers on the phone got it. So, here I sit outside the business, waiting for my package, wondering if it will arrive before the nightly riots begin or if I have to risk things being stolen or myself hurt because ups is trying to deliver to a commercial address with residential times. Great, female sitting alone in the dark waiting. Thank ups.
For the most part I have had excellent experiences with UPS. I have had dozens and dozens of packages shipped overnight express from the same sender to me for 3 years now. However, I've had to take issue with my shipments recently, which are always the extremely urgent overnight envelopes. The driver didn't even come into our building or call so they could deliver it to my apartment, where I am always present since we work from home. They just stuck a pickup notice at the front entrance to the building and my online tracking said that they tried to make contact but no one was home, which was a lie. So that meant I had to take $25 round trip uber ride to the UPS store because the driver couldn't have been bothered to call me or take an elevator up to drop off the envelope.
And then today, it was getting to be 5:30pm and they still hadn't shown up so I called customer service who GUARANTEED me multiple times that it would be delivered before end of day. Then later I received another bogus update saying "We missed you. We are taking your package to a local UPS Access Point next business day for customer pickup.". AGAIN, this time I waited in the lobby for the guy to show up but simply nobody came by. So, they didn't "miss me" again, they never even showed up and now they're dropping it off at a UPS Store again where I have to spend another $25 and 45 minutes off of work to go pick up my package. And it warrants mentioning again that these were both extremely urgent overnight shipping options, but these drivers made it take as long as possible and that should be absolutely intolerable in a business with a global giant like UPS.
I spoke to customer service the morning after it wasn't delivered and he told me that I had to pick it up from the UPS store because the driver "had already made a delivery attempt and so he would have to change his route and delay the package by ANOTHER day!
Somehow they can it from British Columbia to Kitchener overnight, but it takes two days to make it the last 15 minute drive.
Ordered a package through amazon prime as a present for my friends. It was on December 5th. December 17th (today) I thought, hmm that't weird that there was no notification of the package being delivered (usually within 2 days). The situation made me question my prime membership first time ever! I will say more, if they continue to choose UPS as a delivery service, I will cancel it. There was a message on my amazon account (which also had no kind of notification) of the "attempted delivery", however, no notice was left on the door and there were no calls, messages or any other forms of notification. I called amazon to find out, they told me there is nothing they can do, the machine picks which packages to be delivered with which carrier and that the package is held at the access point. I had to drive to this access point, which was in a different city - close to my friend's house and tried to get it but after 30 minutes at the locker WHICH DOES NOT WORK AT ALL I called in to ups, spoke to the representative, then the supervisor who told me that there is no way i can receive this package because it was addressed to someone else (someone who is already on the vacation overseas)?!?!?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me!? They told me that they have a very strict policy they have to follow - I WISH THIS POLICY OF THEIRS INCLUDED NOTIFYING CUSTOMERS TO LET THEM KNOW THAT THE PACKAGE WILL BE DELIVERED AND THEN LEAVING THE SLIP WHEN IT WAS ATTEMPTED TO BE DELIVERED. I don't understand why my friends and I have to pay for their completely insensitive and incompetent staff! SO now, i am on the phone with amazon again, first they told me that there is nothing they can do, then I asked for the manager and they are contacting the UPS. What a disaster! My suggestion is to make sure that UPS was not selected as your carrier, otherwise, you are guaranteed hours on the phone.

More good news. Our local UPS facility in Ludington MI is a GREAT group of employees! I have OFTEN arrived late in the evening, and, if there is someone there, they ALWAYS greet me with a smile!
FRUSTRATION:
Not if, but when UPS damages our shipments it is HELL to work with their claims department. They have this stupid rule that says the recipient MUST save the carton for inspection. What century was this rule invented? Even when the customer provided over ten photos clearly showing damage and mishandling, the claim was denied.

I gave UPS a four. Why? Because there's no one else out there. I'm not comparing them to God, I'm comparing them to the rest. The PO is, well, gov subsidized and dying/dead. FedEx has its problems too.
We ship around 50 to 100 shipments per week. Using UPS SIMPLE RATE via UPS Market Place. VERY HANDY! This is what keeps us at UPS.
Downside--->
Filing a lost/damaged claim is HELL and takes weeks and there is a 54-page PDF that I failed to read that says the receiver MUST save the carton for examination. What?
The is a laser scanner that measures dimensions ON THE FLY while the shipment is moving, so I've been told. So, we make WEEKLY calls to C/S to reverse extra charges.
More extra charges---> PEAK DEMAND SURCHARGE. What? Who does this? Why do I get charged if a bunch of people ship packages at the same time?
More extra charges---> ADDITIONAL HANDLING-PACKAGING/OTHER
No one in C/S can give a VIABLE explanation other than stupid stuff like "You must use corticated cardboard" or "You must use packaging tape", So tempted to say ---> "oh, you mean we can't just wrap used toilet paper around the item?"
So, we call C/S EVERY WEEK and have about 10-20 or so charges reversed out of 50-100.
Bottom line. Where else can we go?
Failed to deliver the package on the first day because no one could sign for it. Totally understood that. Next day someone waited all day. Driver never knocked. Left a note just before the 5 pm deadline. That note left was for the wrong package. This is occurring on day before Christmas Eve. Argue with someone on the telephone who tells me the tracking number they provided me was delivered to another person at another address on the previous Saturday. This is a 1000 dollar phone. Tells me he can't look up by band to see if it's the correct number. Tells me to check my mailbox and that the package did not need a signature... in the meantime another family member tried to flag down the driver as he was leaving but he refused to stop. Ok I can get that I guess. Finally find the first fail to deliver sticker and it has the correct tracking number. Gentleman on the phone informs me my package could not be delivered because no one was home. I AGAIN TELL HIM THAT THE DRIVER DID NOT KNOCK AND HAD SIMPLY LEFT A NOTE WITHOUT CHECKING TO SEE IF ANYONE WAS HOME. Tells me I can pick the package up at the customer center 30 MILES AWAY! Tells me I can pick it up at 7:30 am the following day. I arrive the next day at 8:30 am to give the package plenty of time to get there. I'm told by the employees that the package is still in the hub and they are waiting on a truck. They don't apologize. Or seem to care that it's now Christmas Eve and I'm waiting for what's been over 30 minutes now (with no update or end in sight). Instead they fill their time talking about the show ridiculousness. Which I'm sure is a fine piece of programming but I don't really care about it. DO NOT SHIP UPS. Ship anything but UPS

USELESS! I've made several attempts over 2 weeks to get a package picked up and delivered to me. Paid for 2 day air as it's a piece of equipment important to my work. After 4 or 5 days, I called my friend who had my package to see if they ever picked it up. Online it was just saying the 'label was created', but not picked up. My friend said UPS contacted him (or he called them), and UPS said THEY cancelled it because I entered the zip code wrong. NOT true. No notification from UPS even if it was! Called UPS and talked to a lady who told me that the person holding my package cancelled the pick up. NOT true! And no mention of the wrong zip code. Again, no notification! She talked in circles with me and made no sense just kept talking about the tracking number. I re-scheduled the pickup. Days later, nothing. I call in and talked to ONE person at costumer service that seemed to be competent. But oh no! Problem! He tells me he doesn't have a pickup address on file, that I never entered it? YET THEY WERE IN CONTACT with my friend days earlier and told him they wouldn't pick up the package because the zip code was wrong. So - they obviously HAD the information! What happened to it? I entered a wrong zip-code tied to no address? Exasperated, I completely START OVER and re-schedule the pickup with him ON THE PHONE per his suggestion. Days later, NOTHING! No notification. Called again today. Got the same lady I talked with before, who now says that THEY can't pick up the package because 2 ADDRESSES are listed for the pickup. Like what? Again, no notification. I clarified the correct address. We're good? No, she then explains that they can't pick it up because the person holding it doesn't have a label. Well, the LABEL WAS NEVER EVEN SENT TO ME by the guy with whom I completely rescheduled the pickup with and gave my CC info for the 3rd time! Is it the label? The zip code? My friend cancelling it? 2 different addresses? She then explains to me UPS cannot print labels and attach it to my package. What? OMG FORGET IT. UPS get it together! It's been a circus and I GIVE UP!

I had a package sent on a Thursday to be delivered the next day (Friday). Paid additional fee so it would be delivered in time. Tracked package Friday afternoon and UPS tracker said expected delivery date that following Monday. I immediately called the place I had sent from, (3:30pm) they called and said the package was picked up Friday. She was with UPS driver on Thursday when he picked it up and stated that to Customer Service. I called (4 pm) 5 times to get connected with a Manager finally after talking to 6-7 people Manager got on phone (8 pm) he emailed UPS to immediately change delivery time to Saturday. At 10p tracking showed Saturday delivery. Saturday morning I tracked package Again and delivery was changed back to Monday. (Mind you this had someone's job on the line which created the urgency) I again immediately called to be told they don't know where the package is due to being in transit. I went to UPS pick up location to be on the phone again for 2 hours. I personally looked up UPS locations in area of where package was to be delivered and guided them in time frames of those locations to delivery point. I told the Manger I wanted my refund ASAP since I paid for next day delivery, he said the sender location could call Monday to file for refund. Sender filed and followed up 3x and UPS stated they have no file of claim or phone calls of my issue at hand. Now we are past their "allotted" 14 days and are refusing and still claims they have no file of all phone calls. I call BS and they need to do a better job taking care of customers. Honest opinion they need trackers on every truck and the driver should be required to scan into and out of their vans.
I would advise to use FEDEX or DHL. Or you'll get ripped off!
UPDATE: Still have not gotten results from issue and its now been over a MONTH. I repeat DO NOT go thru UPS. They cheat you out of money for next day air.

Every 3 weeks i ordered product to be delivered to my home …every 3 weeks i get a text and email stating when my delivery will be made. I ordered 2 in 3 weeks to counter UPS changing my delivery date every 3 weeks they change it if the Thursday driver doesn't want to deliver it. Throws it onto the Friday truck even then if the UPS driver wants to skip my delivery he is allowed one month my delivery date changed 4 days in a roll. I asked Corporate UPS about this they said if the driver feels a threat or scared to go to that address then he or she is allowed to skip it. I have never had an unkind word with these lazy so called professionals. Today drove right by my house and went to see that yep change of delivery email with text saying Delivery reschedule for Friday 22,2022 if the worthless driver doesn't want to deliver on Friday will be on monday truck this has happened over and over. I've never given the Driver the gratification of his actions upsetting me and am always very super duper nice to them. This pisses them off even more. The driver last month asked me why i am so happy all the time. So i explained …i'm 54 and been retired for 6 yrs. I go and travel see grandchildren and just enjoy life. Yeah right, He replied. Every time they come they don't speak no matter any questions i ask …how's your day, wonderful day today, thank you so much buddy don't die of the heat out there would you like a bottle of cold water…. Nothing not a no thank you or yes…or just a no would be ok. The product i order must be signed for …. Is why they hate me cause i providing a great living for them. But unless they can chunk it at your door and run without even knocking they are mad at the world and do everything in their power to try to make it so you have a bad day. And if your happy and ignore the hatefulness of them this really upsets them so so so bad …my wife and i giggle when they leave because they are mad mad mad. Nothing you can do except be super nice video every delivery hoping one says or dose something to chop off his own male organ…it's going to happen swear it…this one driver hates me hates hates hates me …me hey buddy how you doing today i hope great …. Trying to get a package sent to my local UPS Store, even with UPS Unlimited, has been a nightmare. Since, like most people, I work during the day, I wanted to reroute a large package to my local UPS store so I could get it on the weekend. Their customer service is useless and almost impossible to understand. Their first rep must have been walking around on a cell phone, because the call kept cutting out and I was on a landline. I finally gave up and opted to call back. The next rep was unintelligible and extremely difficult to understand. I appreciate that English isn't everyone's native language but, if you talk like your mouth is full of marbles, maybe telephone customer service shouldn't be your profession? The rep just kept parroting back the same spiel and, when I asked for a supervisor, because I got tired of asking her to repeat herself, I was told no UPS supervisor is on duty and I would need to hold for an hour. I said fine, I will wait. 15 minutes later she came back online and then told me that she had no idea when a supervisor would be available. I guess every UPS supervisor got taken in the rapture or walked off the job. Just a terrible company and everything is a problem. Go retrieve it from their steps. I never have an issue with FedEx and am almost at the point where I won't order from anyone who uses UPS as their only shipping option. Their motto should be: Hey, at least we aren't USPS! Right now my package is simply being help at a UPS depot, which is only open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. You know, when most people are at work. So Imight have to take a day off to go get it, because I don't want a $1,000 item sitting unattended outside all day. Complete sh!t company.
The numbers in my title indicate the dollar amount that I spent using UPS as my primary shipper for my companies in 2021 versus the dollar amount that I spent in 2022. I realize that this means absolutely nothing to UPS as this amount does not even equate to a drop in their corporate "ocean," though I have to admit that I feel much much better, my blood pressure has actually declined when my shipping is involved, along with my clients being much much more satisfied when queried regarding their shipping experiences with my companies, which is the bottom line, as their previous dissatisfaction negatively affected MY bottom line, in one case costing me six figures in lost revenue across from the twelve(12) month period.
The reasons are the same as mentioned ad nauseam before me, from paying for next day/2-day and having the shipment arrive 3-5 days later, to having UPS make one attempt, during which the receiving client's office was closed, so UPS left a post-it informing the client of the nearest UPS location to go and pick up the package THEMSELVES‼ I DID NOT pay top dollar to have my clients run and play fetch for their packages. Probably the most aggravating issue is that when I or one of my employees calls to find out why our package was not delivered as it was ordered and paid for, we cannot understand the individual on the other end of the telephone line. THIS is what actually send my BP through the roof.
I realize that UPS takes the least expensive route possible, from one-stop only deliveries to telephone customer service reps who cannot go "off script," as nothing is more infuriating than to be told following every statement that they "understand your aggravation."

I am not a happy customer of the ups store but if you are getting death threats you need to contact the police. It is illegal in America to make death threats against anyone no matter their race, creed or color. That is the beauty of living in United States of America.
