Atrocious Customer Service Experience
January 7, 2022

Absolutely the worst customer service I've experienced in my life! AT&T is a disgrace. I had an internet fiber installation appointment today between 10a-noon. I received FOUR reminder calls from them about this appointment in the last week, even received one just an hour before the start of my appointment window reminding that there should be someone under 18 in the house when the technician arrives. Noon comes and goes. I call customer service and turns out there isn't even a technician assigned to my order. In other words no one is even scheduled to come. The agent claims she is unable to contact dispatch to figure out what's going on since there is no technician assigned, that she can only communicate with dispatch once there is a technician assigned and she's never seen a situation for an order without a technician assigned. In other words, customer service is unable to communicate with dispatch and dispatch does not bother to communicate with customer service or the customer. She asks if she can call me back and give me an update later and MAYBE there will be a technician assigned by then. FOUR hours later the agent calls me back and tells me my order is still pending and there is still no technician assigned to my order. She tells me all she can do is reschedule me for another day! Excuse me? You have no clue what's going on and can't tell me why my order is being completely flubbed today, so you want me to reschedule for another day so I can waste a whole other day being ignored?!?! I'm supposed to be confident that whatever clusterfudge this is will be magically resolved by then? I tell her to cancel the order and this genius tells me that she will have to transfer me to the loyalty department to cancel my order. I then had to wait another hour just to get my order canceled. The beauty of it is that the loyalty dept was completely confused and said that the customer service agent should have been able to cancel the order herself. Lovely! No one at AT&T has any clue what they are doing! If this is how someone trying to become a customer is treated then I can't imagine how frustrating it is once they've got you locked in. NEVER AGAIN.

I would have given 0 stars to this company if I would have the option to. I switched to AT&T after seeing a promotion at BJs for $700 off for iPhone 12 if I switched phone service to At&T. I called At&T and was told that I could trade in two iPhones 8 plus for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. I was told by sales representative that I could use the boxes that our new phones were shipped to send back to to At&T our two iPhones 8 Plus for the trade in. Sales representative never mentioned that I should keep a tracking number for the shipping of the 2 iPhone 8 Plus that I sent to AT&T. I signed with At&T 5 months ago. I still haven't received the credit for the two iPhones I traded in. I have called At&T 4 times and kept on the line for more than one hour. They keep telling me that they can't locate the phones I sent for trade in so they can't give me the credit for the trade in. They tell me that I should provide a tracking number for the shipment of iPhones I sent for the trade in. This was never mentioned when I signed in. In my experience as a customer I have returned many items/merchandise I had purchased from different companies with their return labels. I have never ever been asked for a tracking number of my return shipment and merchandise has always arrived at final destination. This is the first time that a company tells me they can't locate an item that was sent to them in the box they provided me with for shipment. I can't believe they haven't received my phones because it has never happened to me in the past with other companies. This is only their way to deceive the customer and not honor the trade in. The most deceptive company I have ever had the experience to deal with. Please don't fall prey of their deceptive and gotcha practices. Stay as far away as you can from this company.

The absolute worst!
September 27, 2022

I was ALMOST a customer of AT&T and I'm so happy I dodged that bullet. I was looking to switch over phone providers because AT&T had a better deal for upgrading my iPhone. For starters. They told me that once I get the phone I would call them to activate my service. I didn't get any "welcome to ATT" email or any "account set up" emails since no service was activated. All I received was a email to track my phone. So, they shipped the phone out and didn't include my unit # even though I verified with the agent 3x and he repeated it back to me. The Phone was shipped back to AT&T so when I called to do an address update (on hold for 1 hour, btw) the guy tells me that he has to create a new order and I will have to make double payment... Like WHAT! I ask him why do I have to make another payment. He says he has no way to update my shipping address and he will have to create a new order. At that point, I come to realization that this is not the company for me so I immediately tell him to cancel my order and process my refund. I will stay with my current provider (T-Mobile)

A week later, I get my new phone from T Mobile and while I'm in the process of activating it, they tell me my number is in the process of being ported. I would have to call the company that is holding my number (AT&T) and ask them to cancel the request. Why are they still holding my number, idk! So after being on hold for almost an hour, I finally get a ATT person on the line. I ask him to cancel my port in request thinking it would be simple. He then proceeds to tell me he cant cancel my request unless I give him a code. What code? Apparently I would have to log into a nonexistent att account and get a code. I was never a customer so I had no account that I new about. I spent 2 hours speaking with them before they would release my number. NEVER AGAIN!

RUN!
February 4, 2022

I was an AT&T customer since it was Cingular! Once they changed to AT&T EVERYTHING went down the toilet with this company. Their customer service is the WORST! Every time I have to call their customer service line, I end up being on the phone for no less than 3 HOURS! And they STILL don't get my request correct. The last straw was I wanted to pay off the phone that I had financed with them and also pay my bill. I told them I have an automatic payment set up, but for this one time, I would like to pay my bill and phone balance on my credit card... Three hours later! She said everything was paid. The next morning, I check my bank balance and AT&T took their payment. Then I check my credit card, and they hit that also! For the past two nights, I have been on the phone with AT&T trying to get the Billing dept. to understand (because they don't speak good ENGLISH) that they owe me money! AT&T is saying they issued a credit-on-credit card on 1/12/2022. I call my credit card company today (2/4/2022) and I conference call the credit card company, AT&T, and my Bank who are all saying NO CREDIT ISSUED! So now they transfer us to another department and this department is saying they cannot find my account! Because I canceled it! OMFG!
THE
THE MORAL OF THE STORY**** AT&T IS NO GOOD! GO TO A DIFFERENT COMPANY!

This last summer I submitted a lost phone claim on my iPhone to Assurion, ATT phone insurer.
I received a replacement phone that was a refurb. It started to give me overheating messages almost right away. I notified Assurion and they sent me another phone.
I had insisted they send a me a new phone instead of a refurbished unit. I stated I didnt have time to continue to contact them and in the meantime not have any access to my ATT account. They sent me a refurbished unit anyway and that unit also had issues.
I sent both units back with an explanation that I wanted a full refund of my deductible.
I was told a credit would be coming through and would be reflected within two ATT statements.
I notified ATT of that fact, continued to pay my monthly phone bill after putting my account on a temporary hold. I informed them that I would not be paying the insurance portion of my bill as I was expecting a refund.
No refund was issued by Assurion. No crediting my account by ATT. ATT informed me that my bill was severely past due and they closed my account of 10 years.
I had receipts from the post office( free return and labels from Assurion) and was informed by the post office that the insurance companies Agent picked up the phone the next day Assurion has continued to claim that they never got the phone back until I gave them proof that it sent it to them, which they then claimed it wasnt returned in the time allowed.
I now have been contacted by a collection agency saying I owed@$160, the amount of the deductible I owed ATT through Assurion.
So, Assurion received two phones back, I had no access to my phone account for months, I am out $160 even though I do not have any replacement phone, and my credit is affected by this nonsense.
ATT knew the circumstances and did nothing. Assurion knew the circumstances and changed the reasons why they had no reason to fix the situation.
This is a small amount for them but it is a large factor that could result in damaging my credit. ATT can fix this by crediting my account and pulling back my bill from collections and then they can deal with Assurion. This is an unacceptable situation.

George 's new Kyocera phone that I just purchased yesterday. It was delivered by 12 noon today, even before the free phone being sent by AT&T to replace George's Rugby flip phone, because AT&T is discontinuing their 3G network.

I could not believe how fast the Kyocera phone that I ordered yesterday afternoon was delivered. AND, 2 days in a row... VERY helpful and courteous customer service.

Thank you Shante for taking the time to try to assist us, even though you were finished for the day and leaving the store because it closed at 7 p.m.

If AT&T had the Kyocera listed on my account, she could have helped us. My account only showed the free AT&T flip IV phone that I will be returning, with the label that I received yesterday from Rubiana H.

Shante showed the 2 barcoded numbers on the box, that will help us once we call the AT&T customer service number.

I can only hope that I get a 3rd helpful service person who knows as much as Rubiana H and Shante from the Lehigh Street Allentown PA store.

Keep up the good work girls. You are a credit to your employer, AT&T!

My 90-year old mother received a phone from AT&T with all the bells and whistles on the account - that she did not order! Since December, almost $1500 of charges have accrued and the box wasn't even opened till she brought it to an AT&T office. Their fraud reporting web site took us to their fraud reporting phone number - which took us BACK to the fraud reporting web site! It would be easy to conclude that AT&T is complicit in this fraud!

OK so my biggest question is is AT&T really that stupid or did they just hire really stupid $#*! people that don't know their $#*! from their elbow?
Not only are these people foreigners but they're others as well completely incompetent literally stupid to achieve no self-respect no Diggity no welcoming no conversationalist nothing!
Now see if most people have a job they're usually polite decent have respect for the people that are paying their wages and their bills since they're working and since I am a patron and I am a customer I expect just as much as anybody does they have that give them back!
But AT&T must not train assist or acknowledge any of that with their stupid $#*! people that they hire so if a person gets a job like myself and I have to be polite and decent and dignified with customers explain to me how AT&T ….DOESN' T!
Are they bred to be stupid incompetent worthless at any conversation and they're not willing to look before they speak and listen do you understand English
It's a sad shame that they are still in business with the amount of complaints that they have I'm surprised somebody has not taken them out completely yet the whole building and each individual person that is literally incompetently stupid
If I had a job like these dummies, I Would have been fired five minutes ago but as you can see they're still working!
But not only are the staff are stupid and incompetent the management must be too because they're never in the office never call you back never talk to you and never communicate so again my question stance but I'm sure a lot of you will agree how do they stay in business and how do they hire breed stupid people and pay them as much as they do to do absolutely absolutely positively definitely nothing to help out with anything!

They are a scammers
February 19, 2023

Att is a con company. Got my grandad and I with the free galaxy note 2018 promo. Now when I see them offering free phones I cringe. We got the phones with a 2 yr agreement then 2022 our bill was averaging 700+ dollars for 2 lines. After reviewing the bill come to find out neither phone was free we were paying 35 dollars a month for them(tried to say the money was reimbursed but credit card statements prove other wise). We then told them to cancel the lines so we could use our phone on a different network which they told us we'd have to pay $300+ for each line to do to pay off the phones which should have already been payed off at the end of 2021 year. We paid them off then for a month had to play cat and mouse with the company to get our unlock codes. Everything was fine till about 3months ago. We got another letter stating we over paid so they were giving us a gift card instead of refunding the money to our credit cards. Then about a month ago they sent us a bill stating we owed 270+ dollars for something we canceled when we paid off our phones. About 2 weeks ago my phone got an update at 12 at night and the screen went black. Screen would come back with a hard reset only for about 10 min then black out again. Had to buy a new phone because of this( feel like att broke my perfectly good phone cause we werent using them anymore). All in all a very bad experience. I hate att so much I wouldn't ever recommend them to an enemy just to keep them from making a buck. If you have to have att be smart check the fine print and always go over your monthly bills as they like to hide hidden charges and price hikes in them. Would highly recommend anyone other than att as their service is spoty/randomly stops working the years we had them, and their just not honest.

Worst Service EVER
March 31, 2023

AT&T is hands down the worst service I have ever had. DO NOT USE.

I will NEVER use them again. EVER. I don't care if they were the last cell phone service in the world, I would never use them again. Not only does their service not work most of the time, but they charge you even when you cancel for service not provided. I was billed on March 11 (which I didn't know cause their app is garbage and whenever I tried to log in I was stuck on an eternal buffer screen). I called them to cancel AT&T entirely on the 16th of March, after only having 5 days of service and STILL had to pay the full $130.48 amount. For service I did not receive. The useless customer service rep I spoke with told me that the woman who I had spoken with about cancelling should not have terminated the services rendered until the next billing cycle because I was on the hook for the full amount, from March 11 until April 11. So, even though I had absolutely no service from March 16 until this very day, March 31. And even after paying their BS price (for a service they did not provide), the phone still has no service even though I ALREADY PAID FOR IT. AT&T is nothing but a scam, filled with nothing but crooks.

And I should mention that even when I HAD service on the phone, it almost never worked. Which is why I cancelled them in the first place. At the grocery shop? Nope, no service. Had to step outside in the freezing cold to get a signal. In my own home? Nope, sorry, no can do. Still had to step outside to get a single bar. AT&T is absolute trash. I cannot say this strongly enough: DO NOT USE THEM. Literally ANYWHERE else would be better.

I am not one to write reviews ( and I think this would be my first) on anything but this past experience was awful. I understand there are long hold times and am pretty easy going about it but when an issue take 6+ plus hours to not even resolve I feel like I have to say something. We initially had cable and internet. Our areas highest internet speed provided by AT&T when we moved was 30 mbps. (I would be happy to go to Spectrum but unfortunately my work line is provided by them and they cannot have both a personal and business lines in the same house). After our 2 year contract was up I went back to see if they had any higher speed and was ecstatic to see 100 mbps. We are not cable people and only had it due to the low speed internet so the first thing I do is call to cancel Directv and upgrade the internet. This process initially took 1 ½ hours and after all this time the representative advised he could not help and transferred to another representative. About 30 minutes later the current rep fixed the errors of the other (he had added Uverse and upgraded internet) and we were set to have the new internet line installed Aug 15th with a new monthly bill of $50 plus tax (we couldn't get the $40 promotion since we didn't bundle anything). The installer came and went and we had no issues. We even received the return equipment letter we were told we would get for the Directv equipment. Fast forward to today I started by logging in and seeing that our bill went up WE OWE $404. I dig a little deeper and see that we are being billed for Uverse TV now and internet with all these extra fees. I immediately get on the phone thinking it would be a quick resolve since I have dates, names, and past emails of what should have been done. I sat on the phone being passed around from one rep to another with not one person just accepting responsibility for the mix up. They continue to say we can cancel your TV today but you will still owe the $404 4 hours later and my ticket was escalated to only be followed up within 3 days

Poor customer serv ice
January 26, 2024

Wanted to switch to a different carrier so I went to an AT&T store near me. Paid $1,200 to pay off two phones and asked to have them unlocked. Assoc. Toldme they would be unlocked in a few minutes. There other carrier atempted to set up my service with my phones and couldn't because phones wereneverunlocked. The assoc. Worked for three hour on thephone with at&t trying to get
My phones unlocked and all we got was the run around about it taking 1 to 48 hours to unlock and that the reuest hadbeen submitted.
Went back to at&t store the next day and wasgiven some kind of ridiculous answer about there being a world wide phone locking service and it wasn't at&t which is BS and was told they would probably unlock later that day. Went back to at& t the 3rd day and askedan assoc. If he would call customer service for me and check on the status of my unlock process because I didn't have a phone because of them. I was immediately told that they could not call customer service and he refused to try, so as Istormed out was told sarcastically "have a nice day". Went to new carrier and they workedwith me for another hour getting in touch witha breathing person and that person finally checked and found that those requests to unlock had never been submitted and as soon as he did both phones were immediately unlocked. So I was lied to by customer service and by the at&t store sales reps twice! I will do without a phone before goingback to at&t. Besides I saved $140 per month by leaving at&t.

We had to move my mother to an assisted living facility, so I call AT&T to cancel her internet and move her land-line. The first person I talked to said AT&T did not service her new address, and I would have to cancel her AT&T contract and sign up with Spectrum. I wish I had done that. I said I wanted to verify that with the facility she moved to, and hung up. When I called back, the person I spoke to said I had to transfer both the landline and the internet, and drop the internet afterwards, but I also had to call a different number and transferred me; I hung up after being on hold 58 minutes. When I called back, the third person said AT&T did service the new location but did not provide internet there (I had already said we wanted to drop the internet), but he would have to transfer me to a 'specialist'; eventually the specialist came on and introduced himself as 'Tony in Los Angeles'; when I explained what we wanted to do he said the LA office did not support North Carolina clients like myself but not to worry, they could handle it; back into another phone queue. One hour and 25 minutes after the string of transfers began, the line abruptly switched from hold music to a busy signal and then disconnected. And of course, none of the 4 representatives I talked to could actually DO anything except transfer me to another phone queue.
Meanwhile the recorded message kept saying go to AT&T.com to easily move service, but the website just listed a phone number to call. When you call in, they offer to text you a link to their move app, where you can easily move service; when you use the link, you get a text message that the server is down and they can't do any moves.
Stunningly incompetent service.
