As a Builder and PRO buyer with Build.com we would have expected much better customer service after placing an order with build.com This item was ordered after chatting with a representative. This item has not delivered, still in transit. We receive a quote from another online site that is 15% less. We call build.com to discuss the $150 price difference, they ask us to email them the quote, which we did. They respond that they will not price match and informed us appliances are not returnable and if we refused delivery there would be a 25% charge along with a $150 restock fee. Not cool. They have just lost our business here in Atlanta, G
Zero stars, this business needs to get sued by someone. I ordered 3 ceiling fans from them and the sales guy recommended I also purchase 2 additional items for the fans (down rods, and mounting bases). Turned out I didn't need the additional items so I returned them. After they were received Build.com refunded $67.14 from the sales total of $145.05. The $77.91 that was not returned was deducted as "shipping charges". $77.91 for shipping of 6 items never opened and weighing no more than 10 pounds? Really? Buyer beware, these guys are thieves! Obviously I will never order from them again.
Frequently show items as "in stock" when they are not. This does not stop them from charging your credit card for the full amount then saying they will ship the item (or the balance) in a month. If you are buying a lot of items as I do, it causes havoc as you have partially filled but fully paid for items. Overall my experience in a word is - very frustrating to deal with. Automated, unhelpful responses. Crap service. Will NEVER do business with again.
This review is for Allergy and Air which is part of Build.com. I ordered a portable air conditioner unit and chose the Amazon pay option during checkout which goes on my Amazon credit account. Everything seemed to go through fine until I saw the receipt with much information missing to the point my order could not be processed. I called customer service and they cancelled the order. If you're going to offer a payment option on your website you should at least make sure it works properly for customers that use it. I ordered the same product on Amazon for a few dollars more but without the aggravation of Allergy and Air website issues.

I discovered this business in July 2020, and have placed four different orders with them... for Atlas switch plates (first order), Hinkley light fixtures (second and third orders), and a Hunter ceiling fan (fourth order). Each time, the items were delivered quickly and came in perfect condition. For my second order of Hinkley lights, I even emailed them and asked for a specific lower price. They asked for my cart number, and they changed the cost of the items to what I wanted to pay.
I dealt with a guy from the company named Clay. It did take a few days to get everything situated, as I was initially talking to a representative that passed the request on to him. The short wait was worth the $90 discount, though.
I ordered $1500 worth of things from build.com and they had no accountability for ensuring the items arrived to me safely. They promised delivery on a Tuesday and I still didn't have items by Friday. On Friday, I found the warehouse where the items were sitting and drove there to pick them up my self. Build.com's customer service was combative and completely unhelpful. I strongly discourage anyone from doing business with this outfit unless you want to sink money into an unreliable business.
If you are considering purchasing from this company please please reconsider. Spent $7,000.00 and had to beg for my items. Bunch of poor souls answering phones and taking orders with NO idea if the products are available and when they might ship. When the items did arrive the order was incorrect and another 5 week wait ensued until the issue was corrected. One problem... my installer lost patience and charged me downtime... If you have a choice I strongly recommend you shop elsewhere.
They didn't ship the product with the hardware. When I called into them they asked for photo proof and the stopped returning phone calls and emails. My customer called in with out me knowing and they allowed her to make credits / purchases on my business credit card! Just stay away.
Ordered a few products. Got them super fast and returned super fast. A month and a half later after they received the first unused still in the box part I have not received a refund. Waiting on both. Sent an email, we'll see? Forget trying to chat or call because they do not answer and the only email so fair has been generic. Vary disappointed in what I thought would have been a top lever company with excellent service. Hope I'm not out $250?
First an item was sent broken in several pieces. Next the wrong item was sent, which delayed a renovation and caused us to have to pay a subcontractor for their time. Customer service representative could not have cared less about the inconvenience--very flippant and unapologetic. Virtually all Build.com items can be found elsewhere, so we will now look elsewhere for everything else we need for our reno, and I recommend others do the same.
I placed an order at 11:00 at night for a project and cancelled the following morning at 5:00. They told me the product had already ben shipped (Not True) and that I would have to return it once the item was received. I did. A month ago. And I'm STILL waiting for my refund. Each email from build.com tells me to wait 5-7 business days. I get a new one of these emails each week. Please learn from mistakes and avoid these people at all costs.
It is so true, you get what you pay for... Even though Build.com offered the cheapest price by@$1+/sq ft for the tile I ordered, the whole purchase & delivery experience was horrible & delayed my project. I received multiple erroneous delivery statuses pushing out the delivery date. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get through to speak with anyone to get clarity. When my order was finally delivered after 18 days, 6 boxes of large porcelain tile were *******@12 feet away from my front door on the sidewalk! The delivery guy ignored me & left when I called out to him when I saw what was happening. Unbelievable! Next time I'll just order from another store & try to get a price match or just pay more for better service! It is NOT worth the stress... Thank God I received the right product after this experience...
Don't do business with this company. They lie about everything! You can call them with questions, but they will just give you the runaround. Was not even notified that the item that I ordered was out of stock. I am still waiting months later for a refund check. Their website is full of misinformation and so are the employees.
Build.com has an amazing selection of everything you need for a home remodel. Their prices always beat other vendors. Their customer service and advice service is top notch and so helpful in picking the perfect item. Highly recommend them for all your home needs!
Build.com has fair prices and easy available chat services but awful customer service. After first contacting them, I was told I would get an email with an answer in a few hours and never did. I tried to contact the person who I chatted with, with the email he sent me and got no response. I then had issues with the shipping and was told there was nothing they could do, when generally this is something I have done many times in the past. They made no attempt to help or assist, just said sorry and to return it. I would not bother to ship with them.
I bought an appliance during a time when a rebate was available from the manufacturer. Three months later I have not received the item. They delivered the wrong item 3 consecutive times all while claiming the next shipment will "for sure" be correct. They ultimately had to refund my money causing me to lose the rebate. This company is terrible. Please don't waste your time.
We have bought several big ticket items from build and they are professional, tell you exactly what you are getting. When it will arrive. I am a lifetime customer. One of the best I have shopped with hands down.

When i say you would be better off with no appliances, i am not kidding you, this is by far the worst company i have ever dealt with. THey take you money, and then 'who cares'. They refuse to help you with shipment issues, refuse to give you any information. Seriously, buy nothing. I'd rather spend a day getting a root canal than purchase from these gangsters. Build.com is the best online outlet for so many brands. I get better pricing from them that if I buy direct from the manufacturer sometimes. Materials usually ship out the same day, fast free shipping. Always a great experience!
We've been doing many home renovations and also new construction. We've ordered chandeliers, bathroom lights, fans and accessories, door knobs, large ceiling fans. All the products came in fast and with the quality we had hoped for.

Answer: I don't know how you can actually get them to answer the correct lead time. I received an estimated ship date when I ordered an American Standard faucet. Then, they emailed me 3 more times with delays. I called them after the first delay, and while I was on the phone with the agent, she placed me on hold and called American Standard, and said they told her that there would be no more delays. After this last delay, I called to cancel the order. They said they would "request cancellation" from American Standard. The big problem is they charged my account IMMEDIATELY when I ordered the product, but won't refund the money until American Standard confirms the cancellation. The service agent i spoke with escalated to her supervisor, and the supervisor is the worst person I have ever encountered when dealing with customer service.
Answer: Sorry to hear that. What finish were you trying to match? Usually its best ti use the same brand name when trying to match a finish, such as a Moen faucet to match a Moen towel bar or towel ring. That is because everybody has their own technique of making their products. I wonder if the finish on your new American Standard faucet is doesn't match because the other item you're matching in not made by American Standard. You should be able to return it if it hasn't been installed in any way and you still have the original packaging. The return items page has complete directions that make it fairly easy to send items back. Good Luck! Anthony

While we do have an occasional defect get sent out, we are always quick to send a new one out to the customer. We also communicate via email if there are any back order issues with the manufacturer that were unforeseen. Thank you!
