I did find a caregiver. But, I thought the site was difficult to navigate. Using the site for the first time was very challenging. I also think it is quite expensive although I didn't know how to find a caregiver any other way besides going through a company and that way you don't always get quality people. So maybe paying a bit more will be worth it in the end. I am hopeful.
I sent a request for pet sitting, however the provider could not accommodate the request, care.com still charged me. There is no phone number and they make it difficult to connect to discuss issues, you email and wait for a response. Horrible customer care
Website is really hard to use, too many forced choices and dark patterns. You should focus on the tasks your users actually want to complete (browse caregivers, switch easily between hiring caregiver and providing care account, etc) rather than promoting your business goals so blatantly. Do you have a UX team? Listen to them!
Not bad so far, better than some, worse than others. Mainly not as laborious, which is a definite plus! Need more drill down questions to get at 'details for care' before getting 'responses' from potential Aides.

I would have loved an introduction to know whats what with the cost structure. You basically can't do anything on here without paying so why not just say so at the start, having a basic membership is super deceptive.

Signed up with my email and then could not continue without paying a member fee. This was very sneaky, no disclosure that you need to pay to use the site. TV commercials make it sound like its free. BAD
Hi Laureen, We are a paid subscription service and not a free service. I'm sorry if you thought otherwise and therefore felt mislead. That was never our intention. Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.
Last caregiver was good for about two months then got very lazy and brought in children to babysit while watching my 96 year old dad. :/ The web site is good but expensive. Especially for just one month. But Im grateful that I can use your services.

Challenging at first but starts to make sense if you answer enough questions to see providers. Most say not booking so I will keep looking or reach out to some because it is not clear since all were active within last 24 hours. Seems like a great potential for finding help for caregivers for my Dad.
Hi Michelle,
Thanks so much for the great review! I’m happy to hear you are finding success with the site!
Should be an initial option for disability care bc I'm neither a child nor a senior. Thankfully, the user-friendliness of the site got me past that discouragement when I found later it included younger age groups.

Annoying pop ups strategically placed on web page so you can never finish what you're doing without accidentally hitting one. Clients all complain about how site is not user-friendly, "care team" that responds to issues/ complaints takes 4 days to answer (scripted, robotic, worthless assistance.) Would not recommend.
We're so sorry to hear your frustrations, Lisa. I will make sure to pass your feedback along. Please send us an email at careteam@care.com or message us on Facebook or Twitter for any questions or concerns you may have.
This site provides no value except a platform. You may as well use Instagram or craigslist. Both parties pay to join, pay for background checks, etc. The only thing care.com does is... nothing, they advertise on TV. So that's where your fees go.
1) The process of creating an account and getting started is too cryptic... the system produces information in a non-linear way, so it's not comprehensive. The site is hard to follow when random info constantly pops up.
2) I declined extra options but was still charged for them and can't easily determine how to undo that.

Im trying to check out and message a potential caregiver, but I have to jump through so many hoops where the service is trying to sell me additional things. Also you can't leave less than stellar ratings without having to type an extensive feedback entry. Not cool, care.com

You should be more upfront about pricing instead of letting people post and THEN telling them after the fact. I also dislike that you require subscriptions with cancellations rather than allowing people to just buy one-time packages.
Hi Charlotte, We are a paid subscription service and not a free service. I'm sorry if you thought otherwise and therefore felt mislead. That was never our intention. Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.
Care.com closed my account with no explanation. I contacted them by email with no response. And they charged me. No one answers any of my correspondences and they don't have a phone number that I know.
Also the caregiver I used from Care.com (Taylor B.) stole $300 from me in services agreed to but not provided.
We have been customers of theirs for years. We found some good care givers and good house cleaners over the years. During recent interviews one potential nanny openly was hostile towards my spouse, being a disabled vet, their religion, and the fact that both of us are in careers that protect, save, and house neglected/abused children. Now we are banned with no reason, no recourse. For what? Hearsay, defamation? We don't know. So the people who were discriminated against on the basis of disability, religion and other reasons gets banned for who knows. A company that promotes and glorifies Nazi like behavior should be avoided. Hopefully this review can go back to being a five star review, but with their track record of dismal customer service... it is unlikely.

Care, Cleaners.

DO NOT fall prey to the deceitful business practices of this website company. They offer a one month subscription but hidden in the fine print is an automatically recurring charge unless you cancel. Why would you cancel something you only signed up for one month!
Customer service representatives useless and once they have your money "there's nothing we can (WILL) do"
Hi Sharon,
I’m very sorry about your experience with Care.com.
Care.com is an auto renewing service, as stated clearly on the upgrade page. You are also notified of this policy in your enrollment confirmation email, and it is in our terms of use that you agree to upon enrollment. This is a setting that you can manage on your own within your account, or you can call or e-mail us any time before the renewal date to make sure that the subscription is cancelled. We offer auto renewal so that communications with potential caregivers is not ended prematurely, and it is ultimately up to the member to manage their account. Many members like this feature of our service, because it gives them unlimited access to a full database of caregivers.
We apologize for your experience, but do hope you were able to find the care that you family needs.
Regards,
Care.com Member Care Representative
Bottom line... like everyone else paid for one month of service (specifically says one month) continued to be billed. I hate companies like this! So frustrating! Stay away. Thank goodness I have American Express, they stand behind you as a customer and reversed the charges.
I agree that there are either fake employer profiles or people posting and not paying which mislead Care independent contractors to conclude after a while that the company is deceiving it's I. C.'s. Seek elsewhere for employment; do not rely solely on this site as it will disappoint. It is good if you want to promote yourself through their profile settings but otherwise there are no guarantees for work.
Among other many issues, as everybody is mentioning, they made a mistake displaying my background check. I took it with Sterling (who does background checks for care.com), they said it was care.com responsibility. Did they at least try to fix it? No! They just erased my account... So Customers Affairs (DCA) got very interested in the details... A thought: If you had any problems with care.com, before complaining on-line, contact CUSTOMER AFFAIRS, they listen! And then write your reviews everywhere else.
It's hard to give a better rating when you have to pay before you see if your job post successfully gets anyone's attention, and right after giving you the credit card info you ask for more money that includes criminal background checks - which should already be part of the subscription.

For my mom's live in caregiver opening, I got 18 responses, 12 applicants, interviewed 5, all outstanding with experience and references, and hired a great person in less than 4 weeks. Effective, the results are well worth the premium membership.
Glad i ran across this review site regarding care.com I was very interested in care.com. Doing a career change and wanted jobs pertaining to animal and elderly care. I thought this site was going to be a perfect fit. A red flag went up when I noticed i had to pay for credits to even apply for any postings. I can understand a membership fee, but there fee's seemed excessive. Judging by what i am reading not only do you have to a $25 membership fee is also required to get responses. They are just taking both ends money and getting away with it. Unbelievable. Not to mention, there is no screening process which puts both parties at risk. How is this site still operational.
This is a horrible business. They have no sense of integrity or ethics. Terrible customer service department. Poorly run website. They charged my credit card without any notification, invoice or receipt. Complete fraud.
Thanks for your feedback, Tahene. As stated in our Terms of Use and twice on the upgrade page when you had initially signed up, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting you can edit at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page by selecting the Downgrade option. We apologize if you misunderstood our billing policies, but do hope you were able to find the care you were looking for! Best wishes!
This website experience had so many scam artists posing as potential employers. I am a 50+ year old woman. I have extensive experience in Child Care, Nursing, Foreign Languages and Pet Grooming and Care. I paid money for everything they suggested, and had friends, family members and colleagues submit reference for me. After spending several days complying with all their hoops and background checks etc the only replies I got were fraudulent. Save your precious time and money and network on your own. Extremely Stressful Experience Never Again!
Regards
I've been on this site a very long time. I'm a paying member but not one person has responded to the numerous messages I've sent even when they've shown interested in my profile!
I wonder if messages actually get through!
This site won't let me access my account anymore just 2 weeks after paying for a background check (it cleared just fine btw). Now they are saying I need to pay another 14.99 for their own internal integrity check, but they don't mention at all what this actually is or does.
