I did find a caregiver. But, I thought the site was difficult to navigate. Using the site for the first time was very challenging. I also think it is quite expensive although I didn't know how to find a caregiver any other way besides going through a company and that way you don't always get quality people. So maybe paying a bit more will be worth it in the end. I am hopeful.

I sent a request for pet sitting, however the provider could not accommodate the request, care.com still charged me. There is no phone number and they make it difficult to connect to discuss issues, you email and wait for a response. Horrible customer care

Joined this website about a year ago and out of the blue they deleted my profile and would not explain why. I have done nothing wrong on my end. People rely on this website for their lively hood and to be able to secure a job in a specific career field. This company is a scam they delete peoples profiles for no reason? How can they get away with this? How do we know they are not secretly discriminating against people? Has anyone thought of doing a class action lawsuit?

Like many I saw online, I was a one time customer. Then I was charged a monthly fee for two years. It seems like they are counting on people who check their credit card charge infrequently to reap dishonest profit. This dishonest business practice of default charging of the fee until it is stopped actively gives it a bad name. Shame on Care.Com which should be called thieves.com.

I finally responded to one of their emails to get premium package at discount. This was a stretch for me being unemployed. I have yet to be able to apply for any job because it says I don't have profile yet on another page I do. Asked for refund and they said I did not meet criteria because I tried to use service. Just signed up for premium two days ago so my request is within the required 30 days. I wish I had looked for reviews before signing up.

First of all, you make it look like you can actually do things on the free version, but really you can't. Then, when you subscribe, you have to pay extra for what should be basic items, like seeing who has looked at your job. Stop with the nickel and dime bull$#*!, are you the Spirit Airlines of childcare websites?

Watch out for the auto renewal. They do not send an email or paper statement reminding you they are charging your credit card and they will not issue a refund of more than a month, even if you never used the site. Also, it was very hard to reach someone via phone, I had to use google to find a phone number.

Sent several emails to support for help over the course of two weeks with no response. They make you pay and auto renew and make it impossible to cancel. When I finally got someone on chat it took them nearly 30 minutes to cancel and would not refund my money even though they did not provide any support! Never again! A scam!

I have been a full time nanny using care.com for years. I am very unhappy with the website. After going into my account to apply for some additional jobs I found that they recently have made a change to where a care giver must pay to send an application to potential clients. Unfortunately this makes it very expensive to manage that task as job applications are rarely replied to, in my experience and 6 other of my colleagues only about 1 in 10 applications sent get a reply back and maybe 1 in 20 actually take it so far as to interview. I can't pay 20 bucks just to hope I get 2 replies and hopefully 1 interview. That adds up quick. And after knowing that care seekers pay a monthly fee, I think this whole site has gotten to out of hand and expensive!

I seriously think this is a scam. I think some of the ads are made up. I have seen identically worded ads from different people and stupid things like " energetic cat sitter wanted" (for feeding a small cat!). When you apply they say "applications now closed for this" but it's still on the website! Etc etc
If I could award zero stars I would.

Click on the 5-star reviews and review them.

Many of the "5-star" reviews should be "1-star". People write a bad review, but accidentally leave the wrong star checked. LOL

Concerning the other positive reviews: This site is not reviewing your specific care provider. This is a review of "care.com". There is no benefit to telling us, "Susie Smith is the best care giver ever!" I bet there is less than a 0.1% chance that any of the other readers live near you or Susie Smith.

Remove those two erroneous categories from the positive reviews and look at what remains. :)

Tip for consumers:
Indeed.com is expensive, but you get AWESOME results! Care.com has become a HUGE waste of time and money!

Please don; t register with these guys, they say they have a free service but then want to charge you to forward you request to the babysitters. I didn't pay and now I've had over 40 emails from them saying sitter has responded. I went with Sitters instead.

If you require an access fee, than you need to be up-front with it, instead of me wasting time going through potential caregivers and loose them when your fee schedule comes up and offers to skip the sign up for later... your service better provide a quality candidate.

Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.

The requirement for a subscription in order to respond to messages from applicants is pretty sneaky, but otherwise this appears to be a very useful resource. If it bears good results and helps me acquire additional help for my father, then the fees are worth it. Fingers crossed.

Would also give a 0 if I could. Had a similar issue with being billed for more than the month I signed up for. Seems they changed their policy since I last signed up for a month in 2012. No refund, terrible customer service. Very small print on the whole "you have to cancel or we keep billing you" issue. Major scam. Stay far away!

This policy is stated clearly on the upgrade page when you select a subscription option, and is also at the bottom of the page just above the "Upgrade Now" button. After paying and getting into the site there is a barrage of "add ons", it's like renting a car. Not the human experience one would hope for when trying to find child care.

I signed up for a year and half the responses look like scammers, then I try to contact cleaners that are within X miles from the zip code and it doesn't let me send then I get prompted to upgrade to premium - make it simple, please! No value has even been delivered yet - what am I upgrading to, what is restricted right now - too confusing!

I do not want to be associated with care.com at all anymore. I have had too many people try to scam me. This is ridiculous. I wish I had never signed up and put my phone number out there. In fact, I never remember giving any permission for my personal phone number to be out there, I thought they were supposed to contact me through care.com. Now I am getting texts constantly and really think that whole care.com company is a huge joke! They should not be allowed to advertise anywhere, especially on television where someone might actually believe they are a safe website.

Adds confusing verbiage and a no refund policy to the subscription plans. Charged my account over $150.00. I agreed to $17.
Not even one sitter on the site contacted me or responded to my very typical nanny job posting.

This is the most worthless site ever. I was posting to hire someone for a job. Ended up using Craigslist and cancelling my subscription. The candidates they tried to refer to me in no way made sense. Terrible site!

The Care.com scam is what is termed a "continuity campaign" in industry parlance. What they do is set up a carefully structured system wherein you're billed without notification. Their entire model rests on "breakage" where they actually plan for you to forget about the subscription. For example, try to find a way to receive a bill or payment email when they ding your credit card. You won't. That would screw up their revenue model. They'll make a big show of customer support, etc. but anyone who's found hundreds of dollars in ghost charges on their account can attest: their customer care is a joke. They don't care. Their business is not finding care for people in need, or linking providers to those who need it. Their business is billing your credit card as quietly and infrequently as possible. Disgusting.

I was charged $240 for preferred background check subscription. I can't find anywhere on their website that it lists they charges for the unlimited checks, only the individual ones. I am hoping to hear back from someone about this.
